Nothing beats classic Oz rock and it doesn’t get any better than AC/DC. This was filmed by the Countdown crew in the middle of Melbourne in the 70’s on the back of a truck. It’s a far cry from the stadiums that AC/DC has filled for decades. “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll” was parodied by kids as “It’s the long way to the shop for a chiko roll.” Very old school.
“It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)”
Goin’ to a show
Stop in all the byways
Playin’ rock ‘n’ roll
Gettin’ robbed
Gettin’ stoned
Gettin’ beat up
Broken boned
Gettin’ had
Gettin’ took
I tell you folks
It’s harder than it looks
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
If you think it’s easy doin’ one night stands
Try playin’ in a rock roll band
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
Hotel motel
Make you wanna cry
Lady do the hard sell
Know the reason why
Gettin’ old
Gettin’ grey
Gettin’ ripped off
Under-paid
Gettin’ sold
Second hand
That’s how it goes
Playin’ in a band
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
If you wanna be a star of stage and screen
Look out it’s rough and mean
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll
Well it’s a long way
It’s a long way, you should’ve told me
It’s a long way, such a long way
I have no idea what a chiko roll is.

Made for the Aussie bloke that likes to hold his food with one hand, and his beer can with the other. Hah.

Isnt that every Aussie bloke? Or any bloke really.

I guess that is true. I know the marketing campaign for Chikos for the last 70 years or so was aimed at them.

OMG! I so miss Bon Scott! It was truly a sad day for rock and roll when he passed. Thanks for sharing.

I blasted AC/DC many times on my car stereo while cruising down the “Highway to Hell” LOL

I used to use AC/DC music when I would write battle scenes in turn based posting online. Writing against other players and using the music to inspire. Mind you, playing it in the car makes me want to speed. LOL.

My best memories of AC/DC were driving very fast in my old BMW, and literally blowing out my speakers. Did I mention I was driving really fast? My friends called my BMW the “Space Shuttle” as I had personalized license plates that said SPACY, (which wasn’t my first choice). My name is Stacy, and I wasn’t really spacy, well maybe a little. Ha Ha!

LOL. Spacy. My first car had no airconditioning, so it was four windows down at 60kms an hour. I’d have that wind swept and interesting look, along with belting out the songs as loud as I could over the hum and rattle of the engine. Ah, sweet memories.

Vintage AC/DC! The way it should be with Bon Scott. Brian Johnson has nothing on him. Many good memories listening to these blokes back in the early 80’s. I saw them in concert once and my ears rang for a week!

Ahahaha. I know the feeling when you go deaf from a concert. Ringing in the ears for days. The price you pay to have a good time.

There may have been some smokey treats involved, which made it all the more enjoyable. 😉
