A place where witches and warlocks gather to plot, scheme and trade spells along with vital information.
Esme was keeping herself busy with the upcoming arrival of some of the Witch Elders. There was no mistaking the fact that there was a great disturbance in magic, and it had even been felt by the young witch who served Lavinia – the Elder. Lavinia’s modest cottage that was set on the lands of Dyre in the midst of the Witches Circle was a one stop shop for many passing witches and warlocks. Esme had spent most of the morning gathering herbs and then tidying the cottage from top to bottom. Lavinia had been in a foul mood, and this was attributed to the disturbance. She had called for all of the Elders to appear at the circle to discuss everything that they knew and perhaps through their combined powers work out where the danger was coming from.
As the sun set, and Esme lit the night lanterns – a black cat appeared at the window before leaping in and walking along the top of Lavinia’s couch. The cat always had a good way of startling the poor girl.
The black cat shivered before leaping to the ground and then morphing into the buxom blonde haired witch. She giggled cause she almost caused Esme to drop the night lantern she was holding. Kat seemed eager to find Lavinia who currently was not in the cottage. She crossed the floor and took the night lantern, before tweaking Esme’s cheek.
“Where’s Liv? I have news.”
“She should be back soon. The Elders are gathering tonight.”
At this, Kat’s ears stood up from within her golden locks. The Elders? Oh this had to mean that something big was coming. They didn’t normally call a meeting unless it was something important that affected all creatures that practiced witchcraft. Although Kat had felt a shift in her magic, she didn’t feel like bothering the Elders about it. She figured it had to do with Sayaka’s curse, not something that affected all of Hell.
“Why didn’t I get an invite?” Kat was now a bit miffed at the thought she was left out of the meeting. Esme was busy laying a table cloth on one of Lavinia’s main tables and turned her head back to glance at the miffed cat witch.
“Cause…you’re not an elder.” This was true. Katrina had not earnt the right to become an elder, and it had a lot to do with the Blacks. She had once crossed Marguerite, and it was well known she never forgot or forgave those that did ill by her. Not that it was intentional, she just so happened to have snapped the neck of Marguerite’s pet snake at one of the Black’s gatherings. Slimy bastard had tried to get a little too friendly with the feline…with disastrous results.
“Will the Blacks be coming then?” Half wondering if Marcus and Raul would show up. Both men were drop dead gorgeous, but as different as night and day. Kat had always enjoyed flirting with them, but it never amounted to anything. Besides, Kat was now finding that she was enjoying female laps a lot more.
“I am not sure about the sons, but most probably Marguerite.”
This brought a groan from Kat, who rolled her eyes at the thought. That was all she needed. But if she was able to pick up any new spells, or maybe the hint of gossip then she was willing to put up with the old bitch. Kat picked up a clear crystal orb off one of the dressers and started to play with it, as she was very much into shiny things. Esme was quick to snatch it off the cat witch and set it back gently.
“Can’t you go play somewhere else, Kat. It’s almost time, and none of the elders have patience for you.”
Well that was almost true. All of them despised Kat, save for Lavinia who loved Kat’s spunk and sharp wit. Kat knew she had at least one ally in the Circle. Sighing, Kat decided to go and wait to see the arrivals of all the Elders from each corner of Hell and beyond. Something was telling the cat witch, that she had stumbled into the circle at just the right time.
Exiting Lavinia’s house, Kat strolled along the cobble stoned path to head down into the glen where the Elders meeting was about to take place. Already the sky was alive with the sound of cackling witches and fierce warlocks. Funny how they all liked to travel through the air, as opposed to just teleporting to the place that they desire. Not paying mind to who might be following along behind her, she got a little shiver on the back of her neck, when she heard a very familiar chuckle. A giggle of sorts. One that belonged to a strange little man.
“Ehehehehe. If it isn’t the cheeky black kitty Kat.”
Turning to the sound of the voice, Kat was surprised to see the Dark One walk out of the brush. He had an evil gleam in his eye and he looked the cat witch up and down, before licking his lips. “They never said anything about you coming, dearie.” Was it seriously that bad that the cat witch wanted to be part of the circle, even if she had no idea about this elder meeting.
“That’s cause they don’t know I’m here….yet.”
“Well, if I were you….I’d keep well back. We all remember the last time Marguerite crossed your path.”
The Dark One knew all about Marguerite Black’s hatred of Katrina, even if it was over a trivial matter. “She was very fond of that snake.” He added, and this had Kat groan louder. “He was nothing more than an over sized trouser snake and one that she used to get off on.” You could see Kat was getting horribly annoyed to be talking again about Marguerite. Oh that woman.
“Ehehehe…yes well, I have bigger things to report as I have just come from Hell’s Kitchen.” The fact that the Dark one would be so bold to tell the sneaky feline about his travels was totally out of the ordinary. Kat was familiar with the Doctor and his work. Who wasn’t? The man was a genius, if save for the fact that he wasn’t a complete whacko.
“You’ve been ill?” Kat questioned, not knowing of the relationship between the Doctor and the Dark one. Few knew of the deal between them, and the Dark one wished to keep that to himself.
“No….but a Prince of Hell is going to be feeling a loss of heart. A real…heart ache.”
Now the Dark one was speaking cryptically, and Kat was already suspicious. She had just come from the fight club and had left the Prince of Envy with the Princess of Wrath. She knew that the pair could take care of themselves, but still she was loyal to Sayaka. Was the Dark One plotting against the Princes of Hell…..all of them?
“Oh?” Kat didn’t want to give away that she worked currently for the house of Wrath and kept quiet. Thankfully, the Dark One was too wrapped up in his wicked schemes.
“Yes! One that hungers took the deal that would see the balance of Hell come crashing down!” The Dark One started laughing loudly until a shrill voice was heard coming in from behind them.
“KATRINA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!” It was Marguerite, and boy did she look angry. The cat witch jumped in behind the Dark one and peered out from the side. “Passing through…” She was not about to get into a cat fight with Marguerite, not with the Dark One in tow. She knew her magic was strong, but everyone had their limits. Thankfully, the Dark One was privy to some knowledge that was about to change Marguerite’s tone.
“Marguerite….congrats about your boy getting the girly thief pregnant. Shall we all call you “Grandmama?”
In behind the Dark one, Katrina could not stop giggling at the question being asked. The one thing that Marguerite hated more than anything was being regarded as old. The cat witch had to clamp her hand over her mouth to stifle the giggles, as Marguerite looked like she was about to go nuclear.
“Couldn’t keep it in his pants, eh Dearie?” Now the Dark one was being really malicious, taunting her further and Marguerite would have gone in for the attack, had it not been for Lavinia arriving on the scene. She got in between the Dark one and the matriarch of Black, holding up her hands which both glowed fiercely with power.
“ENOUGH! BOTH OF YOU! TO THE CIRCLE….NOW!” Lavinia had saved the day, and Kat couldn’t have been happier about her timing. She was quick to dart out from behind Shamus and move to give her good friend a cuddle.
“Katrina…what are you doing here?” She was a bit shocked, since she had not summoned her to the circle. Lavinia knew that there were those amongst the elders that wanted the cat spade. Lavinina accepted the hug and then threaded her arm with the young cat witch, who poked her tongue out at Marguerite as she went to walk with the elder. The pair having been friends for centuries. When they were far enough away from the Dark one and the Lady Black, Kat whispered.
“Why did you call the Elders, Liv?”
“Someone started the time piece. Everything we hold sacred could be in danger.”
Little did Kat know about what really happened at Hell’s kitchen….and what it meant for all creatures, not just the Princes of Hell.
