My Top Ten Song List – Number 5.

So half way through my top ten songs, this one is a bit of a classic though its not what I regard as pop.  ELO’s “Don’t bring me down”.  Appearing on the charts, it was more rock than Disco…or more like driving the nail into the Disco era coffin.  A great song with nice chord changes and a slow, hard-driving beat.  You play this one up loud!

ELO : Don’t Bring Me Down.

“Don’t Bring Me Down”

You got me runnin’ goin’ out of my mind,
You got me thinkin’ that I’m wastin’ my time.
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

You wanna stay out with your fancy friends.
I’m tellin’ you it’s got to be the end,
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down.

What happened to the girl I used to know?
You let your mind out somewhere down the road,
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

You’re always talkin’ ’bout your crazy nights,
One of these days you’re gonna get it right.
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down, groos
Don’t bring me down.

You’re lookin’ good just like a snake in the grass,
One of these days you’re gonna break your glass.
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

You got me shakin’ got me runnin’ away
You got me crawlin’ up to you everyday,
Don’t bring me down, no no no no no,
I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don’t bring me down.

My Top Ten Song List – Number 6.

Time now for number six.  So…what was the song that brought the Nineties to a close in Australia and welcomed 2000?   Vanessa Amorosi’s “Absolutely Everybody”  Performed just shy of the steps of the Sydney Opera House, it was also sung at the closing of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was something of an anthem for the generation.  It’s a song close to my heart and to this day it still gets me to my feet.   It’s pure positivity.

Vanessa Amorosi’s “Absolutely Everybody”.

“Absolutely Everybody”

(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody, yeah (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody, yeah (everybody)

Everybody needs a little loving
Everybody needs somebody thinking of them
Everybody needs a little respect
And whatever it takes, I’m gonna get it

Everybody needs a hand to hold
Someone to cling to when the nights are getting cold
I’m no different, I am just the same
A player in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Absolutely everybody
Every boy and every girl
Absolutely everybody, yeah (everybody)

Everybody needs a human touch
I can’t live without it, it means too much to me
Everybody needs one true friend
Someone who’ll be there until the very end

And absolutely everybody breathes
And everybody, everybody bleeds
We’re no different, we’re all the same
Players in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody (everybody)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (woah)
Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody (players in the)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (game)

Every boy and girl
Every woman and child
Every father and son
I said now everyone
Yes, now everyone

Everybody needs a human touch
Everybody, everybody needs love
I’m no different, I am just the same
A player in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody (yeah)
Absolutely everybody
Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody (woah)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (everybody)

My Top Ten Song List – Number 7.

Right, time for number 7 which happens to be from a man who I think is a musical genius as well as someone that helped pioneer art videos that were unlike anything that had been on MTV before.  This song is one that is so easily to sing along too and I just love it. Combining Art with music…something I can’t get enough of. The stop motion animation provided by Aardman Animations  aka Wallace and Gromit.  Dancing chickens!

Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer.

You could have a steam train
If you’d just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back

All you do is call me
I’ll be anything you need

You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
Oh let me be your sledgehammer
This will be my testimony

Show me round your fruit cages
‘Cause I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruit cages
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
I’m going to be-the sledgehammer
This can be my testimony
I’m your sledgehammer
Let there be no doubt about it

Sledge sledge sledgehammer

I kicked the habit (I kicked the habit)
She’d my skin (Shed my skin)
This is the new stuff (This is the new stuff)
I go dancing in, (We could go dancing in)
Oh won’t you show for me (Show for me)
I will show for you (Show for you)
Show for me (Show for me), I will show for you

Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
Only you, you’ve been coming through
Going to build that power
Build, build up that power, hey
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
Going to feel that power, build in you

Come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
It’s what we’re doing, doing
All day and night, come on and help me do, come on and help me do

Where to start : The Witches Circle – PD

Showing Oridin through the Elder’s library, Esme would try to help prepare the young Mage for his journey to the lands of Pride.

Razorbackwriter:
Re: [RP] The Witches Circle.

So many many books. Oridin was right. His pleasured response and his body language was like that of a child at the fair. Where to start, what to chose? Books of all manners of spells, and incantations, histories of witch craft and lore. Some books that had not done so well to weather the passing of time, as many had cobweb strewn across the spines. Standing in the doorway, as though there was some sort of invisible barrier that kept her out, Esme watched the boy’s antics with a troubled expression. She simply couldn’t help but worry about him. Sure, he had taken her gift even if he didn’t understand the significance of it.

Finally, chewing her bottom lip, Esme stepped into the library properly, and picked up the nearest feather duster, that was leaning against a wall with the broom – both of which looked like they had not been doing their job for years. Raising the duster, Esme began to sweep back the cobwebs with spiders running in all directions. Something that may well frighten a girl with arachnophobia, but Esme was in tune with insects, just as she was with so many other creatures. Nature and its inhabitants were the very things that Esme treasured above everything, and sometimes even her own magical powers. She’d practiced her craft, but there was this side of her that always held back. Maybe it was something deep seated within her psyche.

Revealing more and more books, as she wiped the cobwebs away, the dust was also stirred. Some books actually leapt off the shelves and opened up before the young boy, as if presenting themselves for his perusal. A magical book sometimes has a life of its own. Other books were fastened with locks, for reasons that at this time were unclear.

One book was sitting on the edge of the table, and as Esme passed it, the oddest thing happened. A red like book marker made of ribbon slid out and the book opened like a dog’s mouth panting. A small tassle that hung from the other end of the book wagged like a tail. Such a strange thing to have in the library. It started Esme, who dropped her feather duster in surprise.

If the wrong person was to pick it up….you had to wonder what it would do.

Oridin Lexington : ” Where to start ; where to start…. ”

– The male walked around and looked throughout the area for what he was truly looking for . He noticed the books acting of their own will and with that he kept on moving , after some time he’d look back at Esme ; seeing her clean up the area some . However Oridin kept searching about , getting hit by a moving book near him and before he realized it , he thought back on the past on what his Mother attempted to teach him awhile back while he was cursed . A magic spell he had failed to use . –

https://i0.wp.com/i59.tinypic.com/e5ljwx.png

Oridin Lexington : ” A long time ago , back in another land I attempted to destroy the curse implanted on me by utilizing the magic of nullification by fusion as odd as it sounds. To learn how to control something ; one must know how it fully works. My Mother is truly a Magic Master , and she created dangerous spells that could change the very essence of a person and others that can change the environment if used . I attempted to learn how to wield her Forma Noctis which was meant to allow me to embody dark magic within my form , she never used it since she created a form opposite to that and this was a reverse spell written all on paper . I attempted the spell but I failed, I was already inflicted with a curse that I attempted to stop with this spell but as it stood I didn’t have enough resistance to the dark elements and any kind of support within my own body to help myself. ”

– Oridin let out a sigh ; knowing fully well if he messed it up again that he’d possibly end up in a worse position if that was ever possible , but as it stood he needed to understand how to attempt it again and research would help him get there. Why did he want to control this magic ? Only he knew why he wanted to do so. Oridin would reach for the feather duster to return to Esme while hoping she had a book somewhere in the library that could help him reach his ends. –

Re: [RP] The Witches Circle.

Esme took up the book that was acting like some sort of dog and stroked the cover, while she watched Oridin move about the library, as though he was looking for something in particular. The books that had flown from the shelves to reveal themselves slowly closed, one after the other as he walked on by, like…they were also listening to what the young mage was saying. Speaking of a time, long before the two had met and about his mother. Esme stopped to collect her own thoughts, as the memory of her mother was somewhat a blur. Whether it was cause she was so young when her mother died, or perhaps there was something else that blocked her memories – something forced. Setting down the dog like book, which continued to wag its binder tassle, Esme scanned the rows of shelves, when Oridin said that his mother was a magic master. Lavinia could be regarded as such, but perhaps not exactly the same. It was no secret that Lavinia kept books on the dark arts…and these were the ones that had locks upon them. For obvious reasons.

I attempted to learn how to wield her Forma Noctis which was meant to allow me to embody dark magic within my form , she never used it since she created a form opposite to that and this was a reverse spell written all on paper .

The young apprentice’s ears pricked when she heard that there was a reversal spell that was written on paper.

“Do you still have that piece of paper?” She inquired, genuinely intrigued since if he had it, there was a chance that they could try it together…though there was a problem with that and dark magic. Something that Esme had not really explained.

I attempted the spell but I failed, I was already inflicted with a curse that I attempted to stop with this spell but as it stood I didn’t have enough resistance to the dark elements and any kind of support within my own body to help myself. ”

Resistance. These words caused Esme’s eyes to light up.

“The book you need isn’t here and I highly doubt that Lavinia would leave her grimoire out in the open. But I know of another. My mother’s.” A powerful witch in her own time, she had a massive grimoire, that Esme studied from time to time, and even took down spells from it, to work on and make into her own.

“It’s in my room.” Before the boy could speak, Esme left the library and ran back down to her own room, where Esme kept a chest. A chest of belongings that was at the foot of her bed. Kneeling down she reached for the talisman around her neck and uttered a small spell, that saw the lock on the chest open and she was able to lift up the lid on the weathered chest. In beneath baby clothes and other keepsakes, was a bound book….

Desmedora’s grimoire.

Closing the lid of the chest in haste, Esme got back up to her feet with the book held closely to her chest, before feeling a surge of power, that seemed to connect the book to the talisman – a recognition of the two magics. It always happened, like some strange bonding, that Esme never truly understood.

Racing back to the library, Esme found Oridin again where she had left him and with a look of some resignation, she handed over her most prized possession.

“This might help you with your curse. I’d pretty much bet my life on it.”

– The Mage listened to all Esme said and done , leaving his presence to go retrieve something she believed could help him . When she returned Oridin was handed a book , it gave him the feel that it was special or at least held some special value hearing the way she spoke about it . Oridin sighed with relief hearing how full of faith she had in it and smiled whole-heartedly. –

Oridin Lexington : ” Thank you Esme , I’ll use this grimoire to the best of my ability . ”

– He bowed with great respect and adoration to his colleague , knowing he was going to speak to Esme about the information about the technique he planned to do so now . As it stood Oridin knew it would be impossible for him to have all that stuff with him after the events that transpired from his transformation ; death and transfer to Hell. With that Oridin would give the information that he could –

Oridin Lexington : ” The notes are back in my kingdom but what I can say is that I remember three words . Create . Crush . Absorb . Embody. I tried my best to remember the entire spell but I realized after all that time I could only remember root words. ”

– Oridin attempted to remember much more but he couldn’t . However he was glad to at least recognize and remember the most important words . The Mage apprentice would put the book in the bag he carried before continuing the conversation. His brains brought back the memory of the incident of where he attempted to utilize the spell without heeding his Mother’s warning. –

Oridin Lexington : ” The spell is difficult to do if one is not completely in tune with their will. The weak will be consumed by this spell . Like I was before. I didn’t realize it was more difficult to do with a curse on me. Me attempting to use the spell caused the curse itself to mutate and turn me into a Dragon made of darkness , everything beyond that I’ve told you about in the past. ”

– The male walked closer and looked about the library for a brief moment before he allowed Esme to speak if she had something to say in response . –

Re: [RP] The Witches Circle.

Esme had a lot of faith in the young Mage, though giving him the grimoire was a true test of this belief in him. It was a treasured family heirloom and one that she didn’t even share with her Aunt Lavinia. Seeing his reaction was enough for the young witch. He was respectful and grateful that she passed over such a precious book.

” Thank you Esme , I’ll use this grimoire to the best of my ability . ”

“I know you will.” Esme said with an air of confidence. She was assured that if anyone should have it, it was him. Was it enough though? Waiting to see what he would do next, she found herself listening to him explain about how the notes for a certain spell were back at the kingdom where he was from. Esme knew little about his past, the times before she had found him, and though she was curious to learn more about her friend, Esme knew that time was marching on. He spoke of a spell but could only recall root words, not the entire speel. Those words held power, but without the entire incantation, they just weren’t enough on their own.

Watching Oridin place the book carefully within his bag, Esme followed him across the room, where he continued on about the spell. Saying how difficult it was and that if one was not completely in tune with their will, it won’t work. Esme let out a small sigh, when Oridin said that he didn’t realize that it was more difficult to do, do to the curse that had befallen him earlier. Maybe this was why he was so keen to seek out more information, and tour the libraries of say the Kingdom of Pride. Esme was now starting to truly understand the importance of this mission.

“I really hope you find what you are looking for out there. Who knows, maybe the answer is waiting for you in the library of that Prince that was here. Can’t hurt to look while you are doing the protection spell.” Esme had not forgotten about the whole ritual and lighting of the blooded candles, though part of her worried all the same. Lavinia’s spells were not for the feint hearted.

Out in the hall, a clock struck one, and it startled the young witch. She was about to say something…something from the heart, when a raven flew in the window. It had a note tied to its leg, and excusing herself, Esme went over to remove the note, while the raven squawked loudly. It was not one of Lavinia’s ravens. Esme could tell by the sheen of colour of the feathers. Unraveling the note, she looked surprised to see who it was from

From the Greed Kingdom to Witches Circle

Mariela to Esme

Princess Mariela of Greed requires your assistance. Apologies for the inconvenience, but if you could please make your way over to Greed castle, it’d be greatly appreciated.

“What could they want with me?” Esme said out loud, before looking back at Oridin with a worried expression. “I’ve been summoned to Greed.” After the Princess’s behavior before Lavinia, Esme had to wonder if she had called for her by mistake. “I don’t understand, I’m not an Elder. Maybe they don’t want to upset Lavinia.” It was a fair call, considering. Knowing that it was best to get a move on, Esme ran over and placed a kiss on Oridin’s cheek. “Hopefully I will be back before you return from Pride. if not…..I wish you well…I really do.”

The young apprentice then hurried out of the library to go and pack a small bag for her trip to Greed.

Oridin Lexington :”Thanks for the support Esme , I’ll do my best. ”

– The Young Apprentice would say to his comrade , he knew he was meant to head off soon and when they both said their pieces a bird came in which was meant for Esme . With that bird giving her specific information about her instructions Oridin would soon to remember he had duties to fulfill , he was meant to leave . soon –

Oridin Lexington : ” I think they need you for something that only you can do . Be careful out there ok ? I’ll be going myself now ; and thank you for the support again. We’ll see each other soon I’m sure.”

– He’d stand there for a few more moments ; seeing Esme off as he sighed gently. Hopefully she’d be safe and out of harms way while at Greed . He couldn’t go along with her due to him being assigned elsewhere.-

Oridin Lexington : ” Maybe when we get back I’ll muster up the courage to ask. Teleportavimas ! . ”

– In the moment of stating the magic words needed to initiate the transport Oridin would have been warped and sent to the Kingdom of Pride along with the items he had needed to fulfill his duties and the gift he was given by Esme. Oridin hoped for the best and of course a chance to further his research and understanding of the pursuits he’s long since seeked. –

My Top Ten Song List – Number 8.

So far, I have worked out numbers 10 and 9….but 8…well, 8 happened to really help me, I suppose.  A song that makes me recall a great personal loss.  Struggling to understand how we can be given a gift and then have it taken away.  Not all the songs in this list are going to be cheerful ones, but as it is the song list of my life, then this one must be included.

Eric Clapton’s Tears in Heaven.

“Tears In Heaven”

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I’ll find my way
Through night and day,
‘Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There’s peace I’m sure,
And I know there’ll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.
