I mentioned in another post, about how I might blog up the top ten songs of my life. Or a list of the ten songs that tell my story. So….I am going to do a countdown, starting at number 10.
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising”
I can remember this being played by my Mother repeatedly, when I was a child and it is one that takes me back to my childhood. Having music played constantly in my house helped me to enjoy and appreciate music, which has stayed with me all my life.
I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin’.
I see bad times today.
[Chorus:]
Don’t go around tonight,
Well, it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
[Chorus]
All right!
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.
[Chorus]
[Chorus]
This is one I always like and my friend told me a lot of people thought it was “There’s a bathroom on the right.” I’m like, it is totally clear, how could you mishear that?

Funny how I mishear lyrics all the time. Famous for singing the wrong things in the car and getting odd looks. I like your friend’s spin on it though. Hehe.

I love “Bad Moon Rising”. According to Wikipedia, John Fogerty wrote the song after being inspired by a scene in the movie “The Devil and Daniel Webster” that involved a hurricane. He claims the song is about “an apocalypse that is going to be visited upon all of us”. Here I thought it was about a guy driving home trying to get to the bathroom on the right before he turned into an American Werewolf. In London, no doubt.

This song also makes me remember that movie, American Werewolf in London….which scared me silly the first time I saw it.

I love how every song played in the film has the word ‘moon’ in the title.

I’m psyched that you’re doing this, especially since we’ve been babbling recently about songs that we both like. And I promise that I won’t pass judgment if you list a song that I don’t really care for. Well, I promise not to say anything HERE. My cat might get an earful… 😉
