My Top Ten Song List – Number 1.

And finally I have come to post what is the number one song in my Top ten list.  Thank you to everyone that took the time to visit this blog series of songs.  For me it was like an emotional journey to discover for myself, what songs mean so much to me.  I found that it is those that had the most emotional impact, or helped me to remember events in my life.  Like my life’s anthems.  So it is fitting really, the song I have chosen for number one.

Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge over troubled water.

“Bridge Over Troubled Water”

When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you’re down and out,
When you’re on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I’ll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pain is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

  1. This one surprised and completely delighted me. I had been quietly composing my own Top Ten list as I watched you post yours, and this one never popped into my brain even though I REALLY love this one. So I basically squealed when I saw this in my feed and I will be breaking out the headphones shortly. I love Simon and Garfunkel, period, and their “Greatest Hits” is one of the few albums that I’ve owned on vinyl, 8-Track, cassette and CD. 😉

    • -smiles- The footage is from the Central park concert in New York where I think they had the largest ever concert crowd of about a million people. I can’t tell you how many times I have played this in my car – windows down….belting it out. So glad that you have enjoyed this top ten list.
