The Maze of Greed

The shield like barrier that the twins constructed around Mariela was enough to stop the first green blasts of energy from reaching their target. Crackling and then exploding into nothing but green puffs of smoke, it was enough to create a diversion from the efforts to get Bandit well clear of the Princess of Greed’s wrath. Raul however WAS paying attention and went to move forward in a bid to go after the crippled girl, but Lydia put her arm up to stop him.

“Did you so easily forget what I said…Warlock?” There was a terrible menace to Lydia’s tone, as she again rounded on her true target, Mariela. The young witch was now facing her nemesis – the woman she once trusted with everything. Now it was truly a showdown worthy of the book of Shadows. Lydia’s face was one of annoyance, but it soon turned to a sadistic smirk. She didn’t remember ever having young men in the maze. And how was it possible that they were able to create a magical shield, like Mariela could. Lydia’s green eyes sparkled as she stared the trio down.

“My my my…what have we here? Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum?” She was actually quoting names from Alice in Wonderland, which was interesting considering that the doorway or rather looking glass to Wonderland was right behind them. “I don’t remember the two of you, from the Fallen Mansion.” Lydia said with a ripe curl to her lips. She ran her tongue along her top row of teeth as she mentally calculated what it would take to bring down the shield. On another note, Lydia had seen the girl run off with Bandit. The smell of that girl was distinctly human. Lydia’s eyes flashed towards Scar, who was standing just shy of the shield.

“You little bastard. Use your hat to get reinforcements against me?”

“Wasn’t that hard, Lydia, since tall dark and stupid over there – sent me to get them Oh, by the way…is that a new face? Rip it off some poor innocent that was fucking your latest flavour of the month?” Talk about being accurate. Raul shot the Alp a nasty look, while Lydia reached up to touch the stretched new skin over her deformed face beneath. The alp was triumphant in hitting a raw nerve. “You could steal the pink ass of a baboon and try to cover your narky features, and it still wouldn’t be something I’d want to touch.” The alp was now dancing around as he could practically see steam coming out of Lydia’s ears. Raul had to suppress a laugh, since he himself thought that it was funny. Lydia snapped her head around and growled at Raul.

“Do you want your little cripple to suffer my wrath when I am done with little Miss Perfect and her boys?”

“She’s mine to deal with, Lydia.” Raul growled, now feeling that she was walking on dangerous ground.

“Well, laugh it up cause the curtain is about to come down on this performance.”

While the pair were busy arguing, Scar whispered out of the side of his mouth to the twin holding the collar.

“Use your powers, to throw it at her neck. It should lock on. That will bind her use of magic and you can finish this.”

Dessy:  As the green blasts of light hit the field, they exploded into nothing but puffs of smoke. Mariela tilted her head as Raul attempted to follow Tessa and Bandit. Lydia put her arm in front of him to stop her, before speaking to him in a menacing tone. “What’s wrong, Lydia?” Mariela spoke in a sympathizing tone. “Don’t want your little lapdog going after another female?” she spoke, giving him a sarcastic smile afterwards.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/b21785920337f4e765dfd26d7134658d/tumblr_inline_mlcyowyXXS1qz4rgp.gif

As she spoke about her brothers, Mariela turned to look at them. At this point, the force field was off, leaving her vulnerable – not that Mariela was worried. “They’re my brothers. Remember, the one’s I told you about? They’re witches just like I am.” she spoke, turning to look back at Lydia as she spoke about her brothers. Her head turned to Scar when Lydia spoke to him, and she nodded. “Your little “boy toy” sent him away to there. And he brought my brothers with him.”she said. She turned to speak to Scar, and Mariela turned her head to look over at Scar when he started talking.

Mariela crossed her arms as Scar spoke, before turning to look at Lydia. “That is a new face, isn’t it? It doesn’t help anything… you still look like a traitorous bitch.” she spoke with a serious expression, shrugging her shoulders afterwards. She had to bite her bottom lip to stop from laughing as Scar commented on her face. But when she growled and turned to Raul, Mariela raised her eyebrows in a fake shocked expression.

https://i1.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/36de16c24da0345bb6f5cbb50de30b81/tumblr_inline_mlcygrm2T21qz4rgp.gif
Hearing the threat, and then Raul’s threat back, caused Mariela to laugh. “Careful Lydia… You wouldn’t want him to leave you for another woman again, now would you?” she spoke, tilting her head as she spoke to her, before turning to look at Raul. “And you have nothing to worry about – she’s perfectly safe. But she is not yours to deal with.” she then spoke.

Meanwhile, Scar was whispering to Sean about putting the collar around Lydia’s neck. He nodded, before looking at his brother and also nodding. Mariela just needed to keep distracting her with talk while they did this. Sean began moving to stand next to Mariela, Sam standing on the other side. They did this while Lydia and Raul were talking. Now, to wait for just the right moment… they only had one shot.

The Maze of Greed

Seeing Mariela with this new and bold attitude did not sit at all well with the Princess of Greed. Lydia had thought that butter would not melt in the girl’s mouth before, and yet the girl was now a kitten that was baring her claws. Such a change, that the Princess had to wonder just how that happened to be possible. Was it due to the fact that she now had her brothers here to back her up? Would she react any differently without the help of the hapless Scar?

https://i0.wp.com/25.media.tumblr.com/decd1fdc3e01aa6833f41191eeab4eaf/tumblr_mexj4mb7Zi1rf6x0go4_250.gif

Lydia lowered her arms as the girl was now giving her a good mouthful about how Raul could possibly leave her for another woman, namely the one that had just been taken to safety by the human Tessa. Raul still had his eyes on the direction that the pair went and he was practically twitching to leave Lydia to her own mess, and go seek out Bandit for himself.

Lydia’s eyes glowered when Mariela said her new face still made her look like a traitorous bitch. Her eyes flickered over to Scar, who could be seen whispering into one of the brother’s ears. If anyone was a traitor, it was Scar. How the Princess bristled with anger to watch the demon that she herself brought out of the book of shadows, turn and support the likes of Mariela. What none of the small group realized was that the Queen of Hearts was watching all this in the mirror and was making gestures that suggested she had plans of her own for the Alp. She had brought alongside her a few of her card guards, and one…executioner. They assembled quietly behind the mirror, while in the maze, the Princess and Mariela were facing off.

“I think a tea party is in order….Hatter.”

Hearing the Queen of Hearts speak, the Alp turned his head, but this meant he did not see Lydia raise her arms and fire a massive green bolt of energy that sent him spiriting backwards….right into the mirror. Scar appeared on the other side of the mirror, and was grabbed forcibly by two of the Queen’s guards. The alp kicked and screamed, thrashing about wildly as he was now caught in the one place he dreaded most – Wonderland.

“Now, he is out of the way. Time to make you pay, Mariela.”

In the mirror, the two guards held Scar down as the executioner brought up his axe. One of the crimes for disobeying the Queen was to lose one’s head – even if he hadn’t really done anything to the Queen, this time. Scar screamed and pleaded, as the Queen laughed at the hat wearing alp. The Queen of Hearts raised her head in triumph as she knew that Princess Lydia would get her revenge and then some.

https://i1.wp.com/24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1mwqk4wH91qf92lxo1_500.gif

“OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”

There was an almighty scream as the axe whistled through the air….when….

~CRASH!~ The mirror was shattered into a million pieces….by the axe wielding giant. Duggie had come out of nowhere and for reasons that could not ever be explained in his fury at being struck out of the maze by the Princess he was now on a rampage.

https://i1.wp.com/img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130103204133/disney/images/thumb/a/a2/Brave-disneyscreencaps.com-9742.jpg/573px-Brave-disneyscreencaps.com-9742.jpg

“THERE….DESTROYED YOUR FOOKING MIRROR, YA TROLLOP!”

He didn’t know, but he had just sealed Scar’s fate. Without the mirror…there was no way to save the alp. Headless or not.

https://i1.wp.com/thalias.eu/wp-content/plugins/akismet/captain-hook-once-upon-a-time-gif-i17.gif

“My mirror?!” Raul cried and slapped his palm to his forehead. “You giant idiot.”

“I’ll deal with you later, ya big jessie. Where is Bandit? She will lead me to Quinn.”

It was now or never for Mariela and her brothers. The final chance to take down Lydia in the middle of the confusion. Raul blurred from the spot where he was standing, and then went on the hunt for Bandit himself, leaving a screaming Lydia in his wake.

“GET BACK HERE, YOU FOOL!” Her cries were sure to bring back nothing but silence from Raul, who was now searching another part of the maze for Bandit and Tessa. Rounding on the Witch and her brothers, Lydia growled.

“You are nothing without Scar and your human friend to help you against me. I AM…THE PRINCESS OF GREED!” She was charging up and growling fiercely as she began to warp and twist into a massive green coloured dragon. Snapping at the sky as she went to blow a huge green fire ball at the trio below.

Dessy:  Mariela was showing a different side that wasn’t seen before. She was baring her claws. Lydia completely underestimated the witch. She was a lot more than Lydia thought she was. A lot more than what Lydia saw of the young witch. And, honestly, she was tired of whatever game it was that Lydia was playing. Lydia lowered her arms when Mariela spoke about how Raul would leave her for Bandit. She seemed to hit the right nerve – that was always a good thing.

Mariela’s eyes shot towards the mirror when the Queen of Hearts spoke. She looked up just in time to see Lydia shoot a green bolt of energy at Scar. “No!” she called, but the Alp already ended up in the mirror. Mariela watched as Scar kicked and screamed, turning back towards Lydia when she spoke.

“OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”

She heard the Queen of Hearts scream, and she turned her head to see the axe in the air… and then the mirror shattered into a million pieces, by none other than Duggie. “No!!” Mariela screamed, turning her head towards the Giant. “What are you doing?! There’s no way to get him back!!” she screamed at the giant.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/512a8852b9c259121242ea4c2e240292/tumblr_inline_n1bgnbLGC11rg5w1l.gif

Her gaze shot back when Raul spoke, before he disappeared in search for Bandit. Lydia began screaming for him, but he never answered, and this caused Mariela to smirk. She held her hand out, removing the vines that covered the pathways.“Follow him. Now.” she spoke, turning her head towards her brothers. Sean, still holding the collar, threw it to Mariela before they both ran off to try and find Bandit and Tessa before Raul could.

https://i1.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/61372d3988a0da8d7c3eb4119c207d40/tumblr_inline_n1bguoXZka1rg5w1l.gif
Her gaze went to Lydia, her eyes staring her down in anger. Lydia spoke about her being nothing, and Mariela laughed.“That’s where you’re wrong, Lydia.” she started. “I am a lot more than you think I am.” she spoke. The instant Lydia turned into a dragon, the collar flew to snap around her neck, not giving her a chance to shoot anything at Mariela. Mariela was… angered. She wanted nothing more than to kill Lydia, once and for all. This was a new side to Mariela that no one has ever seen before.

She looked down to the shattered pieces of mirror. She then kneeled down, grabbing the sharpest piece she saw and picked it up. She held it up and ran a finger down the sharp end. “We’re going to end this… Once and for all.” she spoke, before she turned and began marching in Lydia’s direction.

She was not happy… and it was time she finally ended Lydia.

The Maze of Greed

The Dragon was blasting fiery green flame balls at anything that moved in her path. Duggie, who was in her line of fire held up his battle axe and tried to deflect the powerful balls, only to find that his shaggy eyebrows and red beard caught fire. The poor giant let out a wild cry and dropped his axe, trying to distinguish the flames that were threatening to engulf his face. Seeing the giant having such trouble the dragon Lydia let out a loud and sinister laugh, with green smoke pouring out of her nostrils. There was nothing quite like seeing a giant Irishman on fire. Oh the colourful words he was shouting, it was enough to make a sailor blush.

With the boys now having taken off after Raul, it was down to the plucky young witch and the monstrous dragon Lydia. The dragon raised it’s head and roared loudly as it brought up a massive clawed foot to stomp down on the young Mariela. But just as she was about to crush the girl, the fabled collar that Scar had been forced to wear along with Bandit – whizzed through the air and grew large enough to snap around the dragon’s neck. The instant that the collar locked into place, the dragon screamed and thrashed about as the magic that had made Lydia turn into the beast was now being extinguished. Clawing at the air and stomping, its tail whipping out and thrashing the very walls of the maze, the dragon started to turn back into the sinister Princess of Greed. A great cloud of green mist seemed to absorb all of Lydia’s powers and flew into the very witch that had thrown the collar at her. It seemed that the collar had taken Mariela for it’s Mistress, and now Lydia was enslaved. Clutching madly at the collar, Lydia screeched and screamed in horror.

“YOU BITCH! YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME!….I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING…AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME!” Violent protests spewing from her mouth, as Lydia failed to see that it was she that had been the traitor to their friendship. Staggering back she raised her arms to blast Mariela to kingdom come, but as she aimed her fingers at the girl, nothing happened. Again and again she tried to charge power, that simply wasn’t there. At the same time, the beautiful face of the girl that she had stolen was beginning to melt off in horrid gloops that stained her beautiful dress. It was the most horrific thing that anyone could ever see. The true Demon that lay behind the fake mask, was a grotesque and ugly demon. Screaming even more in horror as she felt her face slide off, she started to cry.

“I’m melting…I’m melting..”

Duggie, who had managed to put out his smoldering beard, but now had no eyebrows, took one look at Lydia and then started to gag.

“Ohhhh that’s ugly…”

“My face!…My beautiful face..!”

Growling the demon turned on Mariela and with her clawed hands outstretched, she staggered at the girl, ready to choke the living daylights out of her.

~RB~

Dessy:  Duggie held his axe up in an attempt to block Lydia’s flames – but it didn’t work. His beard and eyebrows had caught on fire, and while he ran off to distinguish the flames, it left Lydia and Mariela face to face. Lydia the Dragon lifted up a foot to crush Mariela – but Mariela had the collar around her neck before she had a chance to do so. Mariela watched as she screamed and thrashed about, her body slowly turning back into her human form instead of the dragon.

All of Lydia’s powers flew through Mariela’s body. She could feel it. By this point, Mariela had reached to grab a shard of glass from the broken mirror off the ground, all the while leaving Lydia to scream and yell. Lydia screamed about how she gave her everything. She didn’t. She didn’t give Mariela anything.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/a49deb08837cfa9c21c1badc18003282/tumblr_inline_mlcxq1D8d91qz4rgp.gif
“You gave me nothing.” she spoke, continuing to walk towards Lydia. Sure, she could easily kill her with her magic… but Mariela would get more pleasure doing it without. She watched Lydia’s face melt, and heard Duggie mention from behind her about how… ugly it was. Lydia reached her claws out towards Mariela as Mariela drew closer, but it did nothing as the young witch stood in front of her. She then took that piece of glass, and shoved it straight through Lydia’s chest.

She held it there, feeling nothing but satisfaction at this current moment. She then pulled that shard of glass out of Lydia’s chest, at the same time as Lydia dropped to the maze ground. “You are no Princess of Greed.” she spoke, staring down at Lydia as she held the shard of glass in her hand by her side, dripping with blood.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/184ddf3e563b4e1542b92008bf84946f/tumblr_inline_mljzgu9nUI1qz4rgp.gif
She turned around then, facing the Giant. “Now… let’s go find that warlock…” she spoke, walking past him and in the direction Raul and her brothers ran off to. And she expected the giant to follow…

The Maze of Greed

The Death of Lydia.

One thing that had been consistent with the Rulers of Greed was the fact that their end came sooner than it did to most other royals of Hell. Was this due to the fact that the very land itself is cursed by the insane need to have it all? The moment that Lydia had become the Princess of Greed, she was on the path to self destruction, just like her predecessor; Mammon. Now, she was facing down without her powers against the plucky little witch who had grown into a very powerful woman in her own right. It seemed that the Devil was spot on in his remarks of her, that she was perfect. Perfect to be the next ruler of Greed and all it’s lands. If only Lydia had not been so blinded by her ambition, her other fatal flaw, that she could see what was going to come.

Now with the Demoness charging at the witch, she was so blinded by rage, that she failed to see the flicker of light that reflected off the glass mirror shard that the witch was armed with. With cruel precision, Mariela rammed the glass shard deep into Lydia’s chest. The impact made a horrid squealching sound as it drove right into the demon’s heart. The disfigured face of the Princess contorted even more of one of shock. The glass tore a massive hole into Lydia’s heart, and blood poured outward, spewing from the wound where the glass went. Mariela pulled the shard out of Lydia’s chest, leaving the demon to stagger back – holding her chest as she stared at the witch with a wide eyed expression.

“What have…you done?” Her cry was almost breathless, as blood started to pour out of her mouth. Lydia dropped to her knees as the young witch stood over her in triumph.

“You are no Princess of Greed.”

Lydia’s head drooped, but not before haunting words would leave her mouth.

“You….deserve to be in ….hell. You….you…are a murderer…damned…for eternity…” The now dying Princess’s head shook as she lifted her head one last time.

“You….may…be…the new….Princess…..but you….will die…..alone…”

The Princess then exploded in a foul gloopy green mess that covered all the maze walls. Sickening sounds of the gloop hitting the ground was the only sound that remained.

The Princess of Greed was gone.

Douglas wiped some of the foul slime off his face and then turned to follow the new Princess of Greed; Mariela. He marched over the broken shards of the mirror without looking down at it, but if he had…..he would have seen Scar’s face in every piece.

“Somebody To Love”

Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can’t get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard every day of my life
I work till I ache my bones
At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own –
I get down on my knees
And I start to pray
Till the tears run down from my eyes
Lord – somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me – somebody to love?

(He works hard)

Everyday – I try and I try and I try –
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I’m goin’ crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah – yeah yeah yeah

Oh Lord
Somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
I’m ok, I’m alright
Ain’t gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

The Maze of Greed – Part Twelve : SS.

Desperate times call for desperate measures within the Maze of Greed. Lydia and Raul are now after Mariela, and she is going to have to figure out a way to get help. We are about to see the reuniting of our favorite couple.

Scene setting :  The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins Series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “Yes, well, whenever you’re being chased by a warlock and the Queen of all Bitches, you tend to forget things.” Mariela spoke in reply to Bandit’s question about her powers. Mariela wished she would have remembered sooner, because it probably would have made things a lot easier. But, it was a little too late for that now. As Mariela had picked Bandit up to start running again, she started asking questions that Mariela had no time to answer. No, she couldn’t call Scar and run at the same time – her hands were full at the moment. As for parting the hedges and making a way out, Mariela already figured that would be at lot more difficult to do than Bandit thought. But she didn’t have time to answer these questions as they ran.

As they ran, an Earth shuddering crash and the tremor it brought caused the group to stop in there tracks, gasping and grabbing onto the nearest hedge walls to balance themselves, Tessa reaching out with her free hand to grab Mariela and settle her. Once the tremor stopped and they regained their balance, Tessa looked at the brothers, then at Mariela. “What on Earth was that…?” Sean asked, only to have his brother respond. “I… I don’t know.” Sam spoke, and they all looked over at the silent Mariela.

https://31.media.tumblr.com/c557ee3f48553b99f4ad404a8d2bf8d4/tumblr_inline_mljz7y67qX1qz4rgp.gif
Mariela was silent for a moment before her eyes widened and she had this panicked expression. “Duggie…” she whispered, her eyes still widened as she looked down at Bandit. “That giant you were telling us about? She took down a giant?” Sam spoke in disbelief. “This woman is a lot more powerful than we thought to have defeated a giant.” he said afterwards.

“What are we supposed to do now? As long as the Giant’s down we have nothing to hold them back. We don’t even know a way out of here.” Sean spoke, and Mariela turned around to face Tessa. “Take her, and give me the hat.” Mariela spoke, and Tessa didn’t question it. She handed the hat to Mariela, before Bandit was placed in her arms. Mariela took the hat, thinking over on what she was about to do.

Mariela knew that no matter what happened, she would have to fight Lydia. But she needed everyone she could get – Scar included. But at the same time, she also didn’t want Scar getting hurt. She walked away, looking to the hat and biting the corner of her bottom lip. “Scar? Scar, I need you.” she called into the hat. She needed him, and he also needed to hurry. She didn’t know how much time they had before Lydia and Raul caught up to them. Hopefully, Tessa was right and this would summon Scar.

Desperate times called for desperate measures. And right now? Mariela was desperate.

Razorbackwriter:  ~ “Scar? Scar, I need you.”~

Within the charred ruins of Mariela’s family home, Scar was about to step over the police tape, when he heard the beautiful whisper of Mariela’s voice as he came from the very sky above. The alp stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes bulging due to being shocked that he would ever hear that voice again. The small demon could feel the smile creeping upon his face as he let out a loud laugh. Was it really her? Did she have the hat? The alp spun around and raised his arms out from his sides. The glorious feeling flowing through him. She needed him. Sending back her family in his mind would be enough to defeat Lydia, had they bothered to listen to his instructions to destroy the mirror in the center of the Labyrinth.

“She needs me!” He said with a small skip to his step. “SHE NEEDS ME!” But the more he said it, the more he started to realize that if she needed him, that those that were hunting her in the maze were going to harm her. Suddenly the Alp became angered. No, more than that….enraged. “SHE… NEEDS…. ME!” This time it was said with a guttural roar as the world that was inside Scar’s hat started to spin rapidly, the body of the Alp was the only thing not moving, though his clothing and his hair whipped about him violently. His eyes changed to the darkest red, as the demon within came charging to the fore. In a brilliant blast of red, black and gold, the Alp shot off from the ground…spiraling upward higher and higher till the very opening of the hat could be seen at last. Scar….was coming back!

https://31.media.tumblr.com/0dfe5c5ed73b4b4de46c582a65890081/tumblr_mxpmff1WRV1qavdr7o2_250.gif

If Mariela was still holding the hat when she made the desperate plea for Scar to return to her, it would start to shake and quiver in her hand. So much so that it would fall to the ground at her feet. Spinning violently, as sparks and electricity roared out of it in a show of magical power. Those simple words, were all she needed to bring the Alp back to her. She could have done it all along, but needed someone to tell her how. A large cloud appeared from out of the hat, and soon that very cloud formed into one very cheeky and rather handsome looking alp. Scar tumbled to the ground and rolled over before sitting up like his whole world was still spinning. The alp was back. Tapping the side of his head with his hand, he soon recognized the people around him. Tessa, Sam…Sean, Bandit and then….

“Mariela!”

He had never ever been so happy to see her in his life, and he sprang to his feet, the leaf litter falling to the ground at his feet. “You’re still alive! That’s great!” He reached for her shoulders and brought her in for a hug, just overwhelmed by it all. But his joy was soon to come crashing down when he realized that they were still in the maze.

“You haven’t destroyed the mirror yet?” That was of course his first question. He looked at Sam, then at Sean. “I told you to get her to the mirror. She has to break it.” Scar let go of Mariela, then he looked to the sky and saw the eerie green light that had come from where Lydia had taken down Duggie. That moment he realized she was in the maze made him nearly sick with fright.

“Lydia is in this thing?!” He could hardly believe that she’d enter it herself.

First things first, Scar picked up his hat off the ground and popped it back onto his head. The feeling of being reunited with his hat gave him the courage that he desperately needed.

https://i0.wp.com/static.tumblr.com/d078c0eb1c24644974477d2ceb97ce27/py6haqd/TXCnfozan/tumblr_static_d2ofw9doxhk4oo4sk4occwkkg.gif

“Oh…that feels better.” Scar let out a happy sigh, before giving his hat a good tap. “Right, we need to find that mirror.”Seeing that they had both Mariela’s brothers and of course Tessa to, meant that they could easily help with getting Bandit off the ground and moving with them. Time was now of the essence.

Out of the corner of Scar’s eye, he saw the flash of white. What looked like..

“Wait. Anyone see that?’ It was a white rabbit and it had hopped out of the hedge and dashed off down the maze before veering to the right. “FOLLOW THE WHITE RABBIT!” Scar yelled, grabbing Mariela’s hand and charging off after it.

He looked back over his shoulder and screamed at the others.

“WHAT YOU WAITING FOR?!”

The white rabbit only stopped to pull out a fob watch and bring it up to it’s ear, tapping it, before hurrying off again.

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Six : SS.

Scar has done all he can to help the boys in finding their way to the doorway of Hell.  Now, it was up to them to save their sister…..

Scene setting – The World in Scar’s hat. : Seven Sins series.

Dessy:  This was going to be a tough job for the boys – but it needed to be done. They had to be strong and brave. They had to do this. They didn’t want their sister to die again – they wanted far from it. Sean thought over what Scar had said; the power of three. Then it hit him. The three closest people to Mariela needed to unite to open the door to Hell. Those three people being Mariela’s dear brothers, and Mariela’s best friend. It was clear now – even if it meant having to go through the painful memories again, they had to do it.

Scar jolted up, and Sean looked at him as he did so. He was a bit dazed, and his hair smoked – but he was awake. That’s all that mattered. And, that creepy eye thing was gone. “Do you believe now that magic does indeed exist in this world? Mariela was proof of that.” he said, watching Scar. “Sam is outside, on the phone with Tes-” Sean started, only to have Sam run back in. “I’m heading over to Tessa’s to pick her up. She said grab everything you need, as well as the book and Mariela’s amulet. She said if Marie really is in deep danger, then she’ll need her amulet. It holds all of her power.” Sam said, receiving a nod from his brother.

“Teleport yourself and Scar to the place. I’ll teleport me and Tessa there after I get her.” Sam then said, nodding and then leaving the room. He wrote a note for their parents and pinned it on the fridge, saying they were out late with some friends and would be back later. Who knew how long this would take them? No need to worry their parents – and they couldn’t tell their mother what was going on. He then left and went – quickly – to grab Tessa. Sean turned around and picked the amulet off of the floor, before turning to Scar. “Sorry about that. It was the quickest way to wake you up.” he apologized.

Sean took a deep breathe, seeming to prepare himself for going back to that dreaded place. “Alright… Let’s go.” he said, and with a quick flick of his free hand, they disappeared from the house, and then reappeared a few feet in front of their old house – where Mariela was killed.

Razorbackwriter:  The basement room swirled into nothingness, only to next have Sean and Scar arrive on the footpath just outside what remained of the house that Mariela died in. The picket fence was still there, but you could see where the palings had been damaged by fire crews. The hinged gate was hanging by just one bracket and swung back and forth as though almost restless. The trees that were once full of flowers and brightly coloured leaves were still charred black. In the center of the yard was the burnt out remains of what was once a family dream home. It was like a skeleton, a hollowed out shell that still carried the air of death about it. Yellow police tape fluttered from tree to tree where investigations had taken place. It was both forlorn and in some ways very sad. This was not the place the boys would ever dream of having to return too. It was here that Mariela left this earth to never again feel the love in the families embrace, or the joy of being one with her family that she loved so much.

Scar’s face fell at the sight. He had seen many horrid things in his centuries of life, but this….this was made all the worse to know that Mariela suffered here. She gave her life so that her brothers may live theirs. Scar walked up to the broken gate, and at the touch of his hand it simply fell off the last hinge and collapsed to the ground with a clatter. The Alp winced and glanced back over his shoulder at Sean.

“Sorry about that.”

Letting out a sigh, the Alp ventured further up the path, as the breeze ruffled his hair. It was almost like Mariela’s fingers were teasing him. Was she with him in spirit? The Alp closed his eyes as though he wanted to feel her. Feel her so deeply to his core. Opening them again, he let out yet another sigh. Soon Sam and Tessa would join them, and then the spell could be cast to send the trio to her.

Dessy:  They arrived at the footpath of the house, and immediately Sean flinched. He was already having flashbacks of that terrible day, as was obvious from the horrified expression on his face. His eyes looked around; the charred trees, the picket fence, the broken gate. This all brought back painful memories. But Sean took a deep breath, and began walking towards the house anyways.

Sean frowned as Scar touched the gate and it fell to the ground. When he apoligized, Sean just shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.” he said as they kept on walking. Mariela’s magic could be felt in the air – it was still here even after her death. Either that, or Mariela was somehow with them right now – to help them. Sean honestly didn’t know.

Once they reached the burnt up house, Sean froze. Visions of the fire reappeared again, and it took everything for him to not fall on his knees and cry. The plsce looked just like they left it – only difference being that there was police tap around it. Police tried investigating, trying to find out information – but they foung nothing. It was useless. Sean closed his eyes and held his breath for a few seconds, walking forward again as he opened them.

Meanwhile, Sam appeared with Tessa – who was a slim, tall, pretty brown eyed brunette who had short, shoulder length wavy hair. At the moment, it was in a ponytail. Sam and Tessa ran up the path, also getting flashbacks from the incdient… and they too, were having a hard time making it to the house. “We’re here!” Sam called, gesturing over to Tessa. “This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.” he gestured to Scar next.

“So, you’re the one in love with Marie?” Tessa gave a laugh. “I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.” she said with a smile.”And if she cares for you as must as it seems, judging by what Sam told me, and from the way her magic is felt in the air… especially aroudn you… she must love you, too.” she spoke. Tessa knew Mariela well – that much was obvious. She walked up to Sean, taking the amulet and the book, and then turning to face Scar. She looked at Scar, then the boys, and nodded. “Let’s get to work, then, shall we? Marie needs our help.”

Scar didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to feel the sadness that had now gripped Sean. When the young man came up alongside Scar and froze in his place, the Alp chewed on his bottom lip in an awkward fashion. He knew that this was not at all an easy thing to do. To face your fears. The greatest one, was the place that his sister gave up her life for him. For Sean, he could see not just the burnt out remains, but also the house in a different time…a time long before the hatred of the non believers would break their family apart.

The Alp was almost about to pat Sean’s back, when Sam called out from behind them.

“We’re here!”

It was Sam, with the girl that Scar had seen in the picture. So this was Tessa. The human friend of Mariela. Her best friend, and the keeper of her memories. Whether the twins believed it or not, it was Tessa who held the key to get to their lost Mariela.

“This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.”

Scar bowed politely, though it was a bit showy by ordinary standards. Everything was over done…but that was the Alp’s nature. On rising, he examined her with a critical eye, before hearing her laugh and comment about how he was the one that was in love with Marie.

“The Duchess…yes. And I prefer to call her, Mariela.” Scar’s cheeks flamed a bit, as the girl appeared to be making light of Scar’s crush for the young witch. When it came to Mariela, and her well being he was serious. At all other times, he was a wicked scamp of a creature.

“I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.”

Scar made a hmmph sound. He knew that Mariela didn’t feel the same way or as strongly as he did. He gave a false laugh, like a titter with a slight head wobble. “Oh, she can’t help but notice me. Mariela found me….hard to ignore.” It was then he beamed a large cheeky smile, before rolling his eyes and looking back at the twin boys. Tessa saying that Mariela must have loved him if her magic surrounded him. There was a connection….a very real one, but Scar had so much to worry about, and this would not concern him for the moment.

The girl was eager to get started, and Scar clapped his hands together.

“And…about time too.” This was the beginning of what would be Mariela’s rescue.

Walking up into the charred remains of the house, Scar scanned for the spot where she died. It wasn’t hard to find. The police had managed to do a good job of that, and this meant that it was easier for Scar to prepare for the ritual.

Seeing Tessa had the amulet and the book, Scar made a loud whistle for the boys to follow.

“Sean, you are to tie the handkerchief to the collar.” He then looked at Tessa. “You…dear, are to wear the amulet.”This may not have been what Tessa was expecting, but the alp had his reason for this. “Give me the book….and then I want all three of you to form a circle. You are all to place a hand on the collar in the middle, so that each of you are one with it.”

If Tessa gave him the book he would hold it out a few feet away from where the trio were standing, and let the pages fly open to the right spell.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.” Scar’s face grew dark as his eyes changed colour. The book had indeed a very strong power. “Only Mariela can summon me back. If she has the hat…..tell her to call for me. If not…..tell her I love her….and always will.”

Scar began to say the incantation, the words illuminating off the page in bright gold symbols as the wind picked up and howled around the trio. The jewels on the collar all started to illuminate one by one and their hands would start to tingle as the magic and power of their beloved Mariela was to take them on a one way trip……to hell.

The sky erupted over the house and a massive bolt of energy fired down, opening the ground beneath where the trio stood. Scar screamed the final words that was to send them on their way.

“DESTROY THE MIRROR!”

~RB~

Dessy:  Scar bowed to Tessa – and maybe over-did it a bit. Tessa just smiled and nodded her head, looking to the brothers before Scar began talking. He called her a… dutchess? Mariela was a dutchess? That was a bit shocking to the trio, to be honest. “Dutchess, huh? Never imagined Marie would ever be a dutchess. But, that’s not the concern at the moment.” Tessa spoke, shaking her head, but laughed when Scar said Mariela found him “hard to ignore”. “Hm… I bet.” she said. Tessa followed Scar up to the charred remains of the house, finding the exact spot where Mariela had died. Well… the police did one thing right…

Sam and Sean had waited, and once Scar whistled for them to go over there, the boys followed. Scar then began shouting out instructions… and they were eager to do as they were told. Sam held the collar, while Sean took the handkerchief and tied it around the collar like Scar instructed. Tessa gave a confused look when Scar told her to put on the amulet, but she handed him the book, before slipping the amulet around her neck, pulling her ponytail through it.

Tessa pointed to the spot where they were supposed to stand, before instructing the boys to stand in a certain spot. Tessa looked at them both, giving a nod of her head. The brothers looked at each other, before nodding at Tessa and then taking a deep breathe. Sean had his hand on the collar first, then Sam followed, and last Tessa.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.”

This caused all three of them to look at Scar… but Tessa just nodded. “I’ll make sure to let her know. See you soon, Scar.”Tessa said, before her and the boys shut their eyes. They felt the wind pick up, and their fingers started tingling. But neither of them let go. The sky erupted, and soon they felt a bolt of energy hit the ground… before it opened a hole and all three fell into it. They heard Scar’s final words right before they fell, and they all just nodded in agreement.

Then… they were gone.

Razorbackwriter:  And so they were gone.

Scar stood motionless as the great beam of light opened the hole beneath the trio that held onto the collar of Raul. As they all fell into it, there was an enormous crack as the earth groaned and protested for being violated so. Within a trice the hole closed once more, leaving Scar to be there alone in the charred remains of Mariela’s families house. The Alp bowed his head, closing his eyes as he felt Mariela’s magic slip away with them. The book that he had read from fell from his hands, with the pages falling open and turning, faster and faster till arriving at a blank page. Slowly Scar stared down at the empty page. Like the ending of a journal, or an unfinished diary. Was this significant? Crouching down, the Alp picked up the book and closed it slowly – bringing it to his chest. He didn’t know what Mariela was going through in the maze, or…if Raul and that bitch Lydia had her captured….or worse Would the twins and her best friend find her in time? Can their combined efforts save the witch….or will she be led to greatness?

Standing in the middle of the ruined house, Scar knew that it was futile to remain. The only way out was via the hat. It was how he was sent there, and again another rule he forgot to mention.

The only solace Scar had was that if and when the boys found their sister, she would have the family reunion to remember. Scar hoped that his sacrifice….was worth it.

The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Five : SS.

Scar is shocked at how those with magic in this world are treated.  He knows true evil and Mariela; along with her family were far from that.  Getting his bearings it is now up to the Alp to find the magic within himself to help the boys save their sister….

Scene setting – The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “You keep it all hidden away?”

At this question, the boys looked at each other, then Sean turned to Scar. “Yes. Magic isn’t exactly… praised here. We’ve always had to keep it hidden. Magic is considered nothing but pure evil – even if used for good, like Mariela’s was.” Sean spoke, looking at his brother, who nodded in agreement. “We started putting more effort into hiding it after Mariela’s death. The town found out we were witches and burned the house to try and kill all of us. Calling us “evil”, and “monsters”, and “wanting nothing more than to kill them all”.” Sam spoke, anger slightly in his voice by all of this. “You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?” Sam asked, before turning back around and walking to the chest.

Sean grabbed something off of the wall as they passed by, heading to the end of the room where the chest was located. It was an amulet – Mariela’s amulet that she wore at all times. The amulet helped her have full control of her powers, and it was also used to unlock various things of hers – such as the chest. The boys knelt down in front of the chest, and Sean held the amulet in front of it – then the chest popped open. Sam looked up at Scar, noticing he was looking at everything on the wall. “Look around, if you want. We’ll need to flip through the journals to find what we’re looking for.” he said, before both boys started digging through the chest.

They pulled out journals, most of them singed or with the cover almost completely burned off. A few other things were in the chest, like artifacts, for example – whatever were most valuable. There were a few video tapes lying around that, once again, given to them by Tessa. The boys didn’t know what exactly they were looking for – but they would look through everything.

As Scar looked around at the pictures, Mariela was seen through different ages of life. Most of them had Tessa in it, but they were there. Down to when she was a young child, up until her nineteenth birthday when she died. A few pictures were of Tessa and Mariela as young children. Some had them smiling, some had funny faces, in most of the younger one’s Mariela would stick her tongue out in a childish manner. The last picture that was taken was on her nineteenth birthday, three days before her death, as was obvious with a banner in the background that said “Happy 19th Birthday, Mariela!” and party decorations. Mariela was standing next to Tessa, one arm wrapped around her with a big, bright smile on her face, green eyes full of life and happy, and her blonde curls were like they always were. Tessa was kissing her cheek in a friendly gesture, holding a cup of punch in her other hand that wasn’t wrapped around Mariela. Mariela’s personality and life when she was here could be seen shining through the pictures… the life before she died.

The brothers didn’t hear what Scar had said, but Sean looked over hearing Scar speak to them, a bit startled by the sudden flair Scar seemed to have. “Alright. Come help us.” Sean said, handing a few journals to him. “If you see something that looks like a teleportation spell, or something dealing with this collar, let us know.” when he mentioned the collar, Sean picked it up, examining it closely now. Maybe there was some sort of writing on it… or some sort of symbols that could help them out here. Anything.

Razorbackwriter:  How odd this world was? Seeing magic as all evil and then murdering those that practice it? If humans went to Hell, the place where Mariela was now, they would see true evil in its most horrid forms. What Mariela and her brothers practiced was light magic, the kind that was good. Scar could see that, yet humans couldn’t. What a foul lot they were. Not appreciating what should be a blessing and not a curse. Scar knew all about curses. He knew what dark powers could do and what fueled them. Take Lydia for example. The Demon of Ambition. Oh, she appeared sweet and gentile on the surface, but she was darker than most of the other heads of hell. She was cruel, and one that thought of no one but herself. She fitted into the new role of Greed with such ease it was hardly surprising. The more that Scar thought of it, the more he realized that Mariela did not truly belong in Hell. She was in a way an Angel. Least in his mind. Perhaps that was part of the attraction. Loving something he could never have, or hope to be.

“You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?”

Scar shook his head. He didn’t think that Mariela had a bad bone in her body. In fact, she seemed almost reluctant to use her powers. She was so shy about them. Was it an insecurity, or was it the fact that her power was what led her to end up being in Hell?

“No, I don’t think she ever would. If anything she would use them to save another, given the chance.”

This was as honest as you would ever get the Alp to be. Having him open up…oh if only Mariela could see this. See the human version of the alp. it would be an eye opener. Watching the boys recover an amulet that Mariela used to wear, and then using it to open a chest, Scar was told to look around, while the boys rummaged through her chest. Scar gave a curt nod as he was more than happy to peruse through all of Mariela’s pictures and treasures.

One picture he simply couldn’t take his eyes off was the one of her celebrating her 19th birthday, with her friend Tessa. The young witch was so vital looking. Happy, so very happy. The world at her feet, and there for the taking. Yet it was not to be. Scar tipped his head to the side as he saw how the camera had captured that radiant beauty that he had come to love.

“So beautiful.” Scar uttered as he passed his hand over the picture. Only thing was as he turned away from it, the images in the photograph started to move. The girls becoming animated. The photo had come to life, and Scar didn’t know that it was he that had caused it. Again, he was unaware of the true power of the hat.

“Alright. Come help us.” Sean was now ready to have Scar help them in finding a spell. He handed the alp some journals and Scar took them, before finding a small chair to sit on. One by one, he started to flip through the pages. His eyes scanning back and forth across the text. One book, that sat beside him and was next on the pile to be read, had a symbol on the front. Aged and tattered yellow stained pages poked out haphazardly, while the symbol glowed with a sudden brightness, as Scar muttered some words, that he read on another page. Mariela’s magic was able to be reached, via the true connection that he had with her.

Turning his head slowly, he could see the glowing symbol and then whispered.

“I think I’ve found something.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Honestly, it was hard to live in a world where “magic” was seen as evil. There was magic much more evil then what the brothers and their sister practiced… but people believed all magic was evil. Except for Tessa. Tessa had found out on accident what the family were, but she saw the good they done with it and knew the goodness that Mariela had in her would cause her to use the magic for good only. Sure, Mariela was capable of doing dark magic with ease if she wanted to, but that’s the thing: Mariela didn’t want to. She wanted to use light magic. She wanted to use her powers for good… not evil, whether she was capable of doing it or not.

Tessa was the one who was always with Mariela when she practiced her magic. Watching, observing – she found it interesting that her best friend was so powerful, while she was just an ordinary human. She also found it interesting that a girl who could use both good and bad magic chose to only use the good magic and had no interest in practicing the dark. Tessa has seen what Mariela can do, when her brothers haven’t. Tessa was there for all of it. Every time Mariela wanted to try out a new spell – Tessa was called to be with her. Sort of just as comfort. She also documented things in some of the journals of what she observed and what Mariela explained. Mariela trusted Tessa with her life – which is why Tessa was the only one in town not involved in the fire, and the only person who ran back to the burned house after to comfort her family. Even now, she kept in touch with the family frequently – she was always treated like one, after all. Mariela and Tessa were like sisters.

Hearing Scar speak about their sister, the boys nodded in agreement. “Exactly.” Sam spoke, looking up momentarily. “I can’t recall a single incident where Marie used her powers for evil. She always used them to save someone else. She always put her life in danger to keep someone else from getting harmed – like what she did with us in the fire. She was always willing to risk her life, and sacrifice herself for others.” Sam said. He then looked back to the books, rapidly flipping through pages in an attempt to find something. A lot of this stuff was foreign to them – the boys never learning it, and Mariela never having the chance to teach it to them.

After Scar ran his hand over the picture, it came to life. The girls moving inside the picture – retelling what had happened on that day after the picture was taken. As the picture moved, Tessa could be seen wrapping her arms around Mariela in a hug, before her parents, brothers and other people there joined in for a group hug. They congratulated, and Mariela was laughing and smiling the entire time. The brothers never noticed the picture coming to life – they were too busy searching the journals.

“I think I’ve found something.”

Scar called, and the boys looked up at him. Scar was eager to help when asked for it, and he had grabbed a stack of books and sat in a chair. They turned their heads to follow Scar’s gaze, and Sean got up and walked to the now glowing book with the symbol on it. “How did you do that?” Sean asked, looking up and staring at Scar. “Actually, never mind… Hopefully this has what we need.” he spoke, and he reached over to pick up the book. He blew dust off the cover, and then opened the book to the first page. But he stopped as the pages of the book turned on their own, flipping through pages before carefully landing on a page that had just what they needed. Sam had gotten up by this point, walking over and standing next to his brother. Mariela’s magic could now be felt throughout the room… for reasons unknown. “Looks like Marie is still with us… and she already knows what we are looking for.”

Razorbackwriter:  Scar wasn’t entirely convinced that he had magic in this world. As far as he knew he was a normal human being, but the truth was that the magic resided within him, due to the Mariela. It was this connection that they had, that crossed beyond realms and reality. The awakening of those that were in the picture he touched was just the start. The boys were eager to see the book that Scar had been holding, and as the pages flipped through to the right place, it was clear that from the inscriptions, that they were going to need help on this. Not only that, because as Scar read the text he started to feel a pressing in his forehead. Little by little. His skin was stretching and the alp cried out as the emergence of a third eye appeared on his head. It was the most unnatural thing you had ever seen. A beautiful green coloured eye that was slightly larger than his other two. It may well have given the two boys a scare to see. Scar’s sudden cries might also have had them shocked.

Scar got up from his seat as the eye rolled around and around before finally settling. The eyelid opened and closed as though testing and the Alp was taking short sharp breathes. He reached up and waved his right hand in front of the eye, and it blinked a few times.

“I didn’t think I could do it.” It really was a shock. He still had some magic. Maybe not the hat, but something far more useful. The third eye. With shaking hands he picked up the book and then he started to go into like trembling fit as the eye flew wide open and projected a scene out into the room much like a hologram. What the boys would see, was the one thing that they would never wish to witness again.

The blazing fire that killed their beloved Mariela.

In a strange voice, Scar spoke. “This is the door way from this world to Hell. It is the way she traveled there. Take the collar, her handkerchief and her friend Tessa to the spot where the house stood.” Scar continued to tremble as the eye was now in control. “The power of three are needed to be united to fight the Demon of Ambition and Greed. The book will guide you.”

The holographic image soon faded out to nothing, and the eye closed – before sinking back into Scar’s skin. The alp then dropped Mariela’s book and passed out on the floor in a heap.

~RB~

Dessy:  Sean scanned over the page, moving his eyes across the words… only to end up shaking his head. “I don’t understand any of this. This is a lot more advanced than the stuff we can do. The inscriptions, the writing… I don’t understand it.” he spoke, handing the book over to his brother. Sam ran his fingers along the page as he read each word.”Marie never taught us this… Either she never got around to it, or she knew we wouldn’t be strong enough to do it.”

Both boys dropped the book and jumped when Scar started screaming. They watched with wide eyes as what appeared to be another eye appeared on Scar’s forehead. At the sight of the big green eye, the boys took a couple of steps back, their faces holding shocked expressions on them. They simply watched Scar, the eye blinking a few times and Scar waving his hand in front of it. They were discovering a lot of new things today.

“This is just as shocking for us as it was for you…” Sam said, but grew quiet when the eye opened up a hologram. What they saw, was not something they expected to see… and the one thing they never wanted to see again. The fire popped up – the same blazing fire that killed their sister. A gasp came out of Sean’s mouth, and he stumbled backwards, getting caught by his brother who had wide eyes and a horrified expression on his face. After standing his brother up, the boys listened to the words Scar said, but flashes of the fire just kept appearing back in their thoughts.

They needed to go back. Back? To the one place that they tried to run away from? From the town they never wanted to see again? They had no choice. They’d have to deal through the painful memory… to save their sister. “Back? We have to go back?” Sean called, dread clear in his voice. Scar passed out on the floor, and Sam ran to catch the book. “Yes, we have to go back.” Sam said, tossing the book to his brother. “I’ll go call Tessa and let her know. Grab the collar and the handkerchief, as well as the book, and see if you can try to wake him up.” Sam pointed to Scar, and Sean nodded. Sam left the room, pulling out his phone in the process.

Sean immediately turned around, facing Scar. He held out his hand and sent a burst of light towards Scar, in an attempt to jolt him awake. He then turned around, grabbing the handkerchief and then grabbing hold of the collar, placing them on top of the book, which he held tightly in his hand. He then waited to hear back from his brother after his phone call with Tessa. This was going to be hard… but they had to do it. They had no choice.

Razorbackwriter:
Darkness. Scar was out cold. Whatever it was that was so powerful to awaken his third eye must have still been present in that room. It was a pretty good guess, that Mariela’s magic was strong within her personal effects, and having touched and handle these items allowed for Scar’s own magic to begin to shine through. The third eye was able to see not only Mariela’s end, but the best and only way to reach her from this world. It was pretty simple really. The last known place of the witch before her terrible death was the house of her birth. The house that had been consumed by the devastating fire. Of course, it is the last place on earth that the brothers would ever wish to be, and being reminded of it was enough to startle and shock both boys. This was going to be a great test of not only their courage, but also acceptance. Going back to the root of your fear and facing it takes a lot of guts. But the reason to go back was to be able and find a way to reach their sister and save her from the evil within the maze. Did the boys understand what Scar was really asking them to do? By bringing Tessa into this, the three of them – all the closest people to Mariela; would need to unite and hold the collar as they stand over the very ground on where she took her last breaths.

As Scar lay on the stone cold floor, his body would be hit by a burst of light. A jarring sensation like an electrical charge would travel through him and the alp would awaken with a fright. His hair smoking slightly, Scar sat up looking dazed. His third eye had disappeared from his forehead, having gone back under his skin. Now he just looked human again.

“My magic worked!” The alp explained, a smile starting to form upon his lips. He had been so sure that he had no magical powers in this world without his hat, but little did he realize that it was Mariela’s power that rubbed off on him and helped him to assist her brothers. Bless her.

https://i2.wp.com/media.giphy.com/media/XFv0SkVD4sXm0/giphy.gif

Scar looked around for Sam, who was no longer in the room.

“Where is the other one?”

The alp didn’t know he was off trying to get Tessa. Seeing that Sean had all the things they needed to go and rescue Mariela, Scar was quick to get to his feet. Patting himself down, the alp did have one thing to say about being zapped awake.

“Next time, you could just slap my face to wake me up.” He did smell a bit like cooked bacon.

The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Four : SS.

The twins; Sean and Sam were starting to believe the crazy Alp’s story.  Everything that Scar said about Mariela matched up with the boy’s questions.  Now, they had a mission and that was to see if they could break Raul’s collar off Scar’s neck.  Could it be handy in finding a way back to Hell?

Scene setting : The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven Sins series.

Written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “We can always try, right?” Sean spoke, receiving a nod from his brother. “The collar might be some kind of portal. You may not have magical powers, but we do. We can probably use our power to send you back to Hell.” As Sean spoke, his brother had moved to Scar and the collar. He ran his hand along the collar, then gave a nod. It wastheir sister – he was positive of it now. He recognized the magic that still lingered on the collar – he could feel it. “Her magic is still on it. I can feel it when I put my hand near the collar.” he said. “If I focus, I might be able to sense what she did to unlock it the first time. Then all I’d have to do is trace and match it to unlock it again.” he said, and Sean nodded his head.

“I don’t know much about this hat, or this powerful warlock Raul… but if he’s as powerful as you claim, then Mariela needs our help.” Sean said again. “Some of Mariela’s spellbooks and journals survived the fire. Not many, but some. Maybe we can look through there and find something. I’m sure she has at least something to help us send you back.” Sean had determination in his voice. They might not have been able to save her here… but they were willing to save her in Hell. They were not going to let her die again… not after she risked her life for them the first time. They didn’t care if she was in Hell. They were going to save her.

“She had a habit of recording everything she did. Every spell she performed, every potion she made, every new power she had discovered and what not. She kept them in journals and usually kept them hidden from other people.” Sean spoke again. “If the collar isn’t some kind of portal, then maybe there’s some other way to open a portal to send you to Hell. And if there is, chances are is Mariela has it written down somewhere.” Sean was doing all of the talking while Sam was focused on the collar. Sam was concentrating on getting the collar off, so he didn’t need to be disturbed. So Sean did the talking.

“That’s if… you’re willing.” Sean added. “If you’re willing to accept our help, then we’re willing to give you our help. For Mariela. She died once… we will not let her die again, Hell or not.” he spoke. Sean knew sending him back to Hell would require a lot of power. The boys couldn’t do it by themselves like Mariela could… but if they worked together and combined their powers, then they might be able to do it.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar really didn’t like being touched. When one of the boys moved his finger across the jeweled collar to get a trace of Mariela’s magic, the Alp winced at having this lad so close. It was necessary, but uncomfortable. Only when the boy stepped back and announced that he had felt the surge of Mariela’s magic left on it, did Scar let out a sigh of relief. This proved pretty much everything. That Mariela was their sister, and that they believed what the Alp had said to be true. Scar wouldn’t lie, there was no point to it. He was desperate to get back and help the young witch, but knew the limitations placed on him due to how he came to be in Sean and Sam’s world.

One thing about the boy’s chatter, was that Scar was learning a great deal more about the young Witch he cared so much for. She kept a number of journal and spell books, having noted down everything from spells she created and used, to her day to day life. These very things could be helpful to the pair if they wanted to find a way to get to her. They would never have imagined where Mariela ended up, not until Scar had pointed them towards it.

The Alp reached up to the collar and started to try and prize it off with his fingers. He clawed at it, and struggled as the collar remained tightly fastened. It was designed this way so that the person that wore it, could not take it off themselves. Sean asked if Scar was willing to accept the boys help, since they pretty much were determined to find their sister and help her. They owed her their lives, and now her life…in hell was in grave danger. Releasing his hands from the collar, he let them fall to his sides as he nodded slowly.

“Alright…alright. Can one of you, please take this collar off me, and we can get to tracking her back to hell.”

Dessy:  Sam didn’t notice Scar wince as he ran his fingers over the collar. As his brother was talking, Sam was focusing on tracing Mariela’s magic. His hand stopped moving when he could trace Mariela’s magic no more. “I know how to get it off. Just… keep still, and stop clawing at the damn collar.” Sam said, waiting until Scar moved his hands. His fingers moved along the collar, touching each jewel the same way Mariela did. Within seconds, the collar popped off – just like it did with Bandit. “There.” Sam said, removing the collar and holding it up in his hand. “It’s off. Now, before we destroy it, we need to see if we can use it to open a portal to Hell.” he spoke. Mariela taught them well – with the things she managed to teach them before she died, that is.

Sean nodded at his brother when he successfully got the collar off. “Good. Now that that’s done, we need to focus on getting him back to Hell.” he then said. All of a sudden, the group of boys they were with earlier were calling their names. “One second.” Sean said, beginning to exit the forest. He yelled out that him and his brother had to go, because they had important family matters to tend to – which, technically, wasn’t exactly a lie. After saying goodbye, he re-appeared later. “I told them we had important family matters to attend to. They shouldn’t bug us for awhile.” he said, his gaze turning back to Scar.

“Now, we might have to head to our home to go through the books Mariela has. No worries, our father is at work and mother is running errands all day. We don’t have to worry about them.” Sean said. “Thank god. We do not need mother finding out that Mariela is in Hell and is in danger. She’s had a hard enough time after her death as it is.” Sam said, looking at Scar. “Quick question… what is your name? That might be important to know before we head off and get to work.”

Sean nodded his head, walking over to where his brother and Scar were standing. “We’re ready to do this whenever you are. Just give us the word.” he spoke, giving Scar a determined nod.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar looked uneasy as Sam worked his fingers on the jewels that lined the collar. One by one his fingers traced over in the same fashion that Mariela had done, and so with his magical powers fusing with those left by Mariela, it was enough to break the collar off – falling into Sam’s hand. Scar took a step back and started to touch around his neck as though he could hardly believe that he was now rid of the thing.

“Ugh…horrid piece of warlock crap.” The Alp hissed as he took a breath and then stared at Sam and Sean through dark slits. The words of destroying the collar brought about a foul look from the Alp. “Think twice before you destroy it. It’s probably the only chance you have to find her.” Scar pursed his lips, before starting to pat down the clothes that he was wearing to see if he had anything on him that could be of use to the pair. In his pocket, he happened to find a flimsy piece of cloth that had laced edges and was quite delicate. Withdrawing it slowly, Scar then realized what it was. It was Mariela’s handkerchief. The Alp having pinched it from her whilst she was dancing. it was monogrammed with her initials and carried her scent. He took a sniff, closing his eyes as it was almost like he could see her bright and colourful in his mind’s eye.

“Here…you might find this useful.” As with any spells, to have something from the person you wish to seek, it pays to have a personal item or lock of hair. This was the next best thing.

At one point, the other lads that had been playing the football game were calling for the boy’s return. Course, the boys had more important things to do, and were able to blow them off using a good excuse. Scar waited in the bushes for that news to be delivered, before the boys were ready to take him to their house. It was there that they kept their sisters personal effects and her spell books. With the handkerchief and the collar, they had a better chance to create the right amount of magic.

As the boys were about to head off to take Scar to their home, they did want to know one thing. What his name was.

“Scar. Just Scar.” The Alp didn’t have a nickname or a surname, just the one name. And that was quite enough. He then bowed low and extended his hand.

“Lead the way, gentlemen.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Sam handed the collar over to his brother, and Sean began examining it, turning it in his hand. Sean was the smartest out of the two – yes, Sam was smart, but he was more athletic than anything. Sean was also athletic, but he was mostly smart than anything.”We’ll definantly need to look through Marie’s journals. I don’t recognize anything on the collar – it’s probably more advanced magic. Stuff Marie could do, that we can’t.” he said, looking at Scar when he spoke. When Scar said “horrid piece of warlock crap”, Sam couldn’t help but laugh.

Sean nodded his head when Scar said not to destroy it. “Right. We find our sister first, then destroy it.” he said. The brothers turned and watched him as Scar started patting his pockets, and Sam narrowed his eyes in curiosity. He then watched Scar pull out a handkerchief – and when Sam squinted his eyes he saw Mariela’s initials. Then Scar was… sniffing it. Okay… A little weird. But whatever.

Sam reached over and took the handkerchief, examining it. “This will work perfectly.” Sam said, giving a nod of his head.”With this, and the collar, we can find a way to get you back to Hell.” he added soon after. After he spoke his name, the boy’s raised an eyebrow and looked up at each other, before Sam shrugged. “Scar. Gotcha.” he said.

“We won’t have to walk. We can teleport us there.” Sean said with a grin. With a quick flick of Sam’s hand, they disappeared, and then reappeared in front of the house. It was a cute little house – blue, and a two story. It was quaint and it was comfortable, yet elegant at the same time – which was proven once Sam opened the door and waited for Sean and Scar to enter, before closng it behind him. It was very homely and comfortable on the inside. From the looks of the house, you could have never guessed they were witches. The boys took their shoes off, placing them by the door like always. “This way.” Sean said, before heading down a hallway.

Sam bent down, removing the light blue and green striped rug, revealing a door. Sean had left, and came back with the key, handing it to his brother. Sam unlocked the door, pulling the handle and opening it up, sticking the key into his pocket. Sean walked down first, pressing a button to turn on the lights to the basement. They kept all of there witch stuff here – potions, materials, herbs, witch books – everything. Sam came down after, shutting the basement door after he walked down. “This is just the basement, where we keep everything that we use. We keep all of Mariela’s belongings in a trunk, that can only be opened by us. That way no one can get into it.” Sean spoke, as they walked to a door in the basement.

Sean held his hand to the door, muttering something, and then the door glowed and swung open. Only way the door could be opened. The inside revealed what seemed to be all a memorial shrine – with all of Mariela’s belongings that they managed to save from the fire. That was obvious from some pictures on the wall in frames that were a bit burned up, certain pieces of fabrics that were torn and burned hanging on walls. “All of this is stuff we managed to save from the fire. Pictures, pieces of fabrics from Mariela’s clothing. Everything we could save that dealt with her – we did. The stuff you see that aren’t burned are pictures Marie’s best friend, Tessa, had given to us after her death. She was the only one who knew what we were… the two have been friends since they were young. Grew up together.” Sam said, looking to Scar as he spoke. In the pictures, the one known as Tessa was a pretty brown-eyed and brunette girl that was seen in most of the pictures. Tessa still kept in touch with the family, and she was kind enough to hand over pictures she had kept of her and Mariela – or just Mariela – for them to have since most of the pictures, except for a small few, were lost in the fire.

Razorbackwriter:  What a strange place it was. The home of the twins. It all looked, so normal. So very human. Scar was almost scared of it. He kept up with the twins, who were more than accommodating. The alp watched as they took off their shoes before entering the house. Apparently that was customary and Scar bawked before following suit. He just was so out of his element. He took off each boot with a clunk and a thud, then lined them up alongside the boys shoes neatly. When in Rome and all that. Once they made their way inside, Scar could not stop turning his head left and right. Family pictures on the walls. Happy, smiling faces beaming down at him. Like something out of a magazine. Perfect families. Scar didn’t know or understand what being part of a family felt like. All he could gather was that the twins cared a great deal about their sister; Mariela.

Scar followed the boys down the hallway till they reached a light blue and green striped rug, that hid in behind it a door. It was obviously something that the boys wanted no one else to know about. The Alp’s eyes darted back and forth as one of the boys went to fetch a key. Sam did the honors, and opened the door – turning on the light that flooded the basement. So this was where they kept their supernatural artifacts and belonging. Not everything was what it seemed to be.

This brought about a question from the alp. If magic was here in this world, why all the secrecy? That was how it seemed. Were magical people considered evil beings, or simply misunderstood? Scar thought that this world was devoid of magic, but apparently he was very wrong.

“You keep it all hidden away?” This said with the Alp bending his head to the side in a curious fashion. The twins mentioned that they kept all of Mariela’s possessions in a trunk that could only be opened by them. This fueled the idea that there were those that hunted her kind in this world, if they had to keep it somewhere that only would be privy to them ever seeing it.

As they walked through another door in the basement there was a definite feeling of a magical presence. It was unmistakable in fact. Scar had felt it before and that was in Mariela’s company. In this room was a shrine to Mariela. Belongings, clothes, personal effects. Books, and partially burnt photographs. Scar spun around and around slowly as he tried to take it all in. This was indeed a fascinating sight to behold. Scar knew of the witch in hell. The Duchess of Greed. The beauty of the Ball. Here was the images and the belongings of a girl that Scar didn’t know. This was her human world self. Even though much of it was dusty or burnt, it brought to life Mariela in Scar’s mind. The way the boys had kept all of these treasures showed their love and respect for her. In a way, Scar was glad that they had not let her memory die with her. It showed their love for her and it was this gift; this love that they had for her that could be the very thing to save her in Hell.

Her power….was love. It was only being away from her and stuck in the hat that the Alp was able to see it for himself. As the boys spoke of how they gathered everything they could and brought it all down here, including items from her best friend Tessa, the Alp was lost for the moment in just enjoying seeing this side of his beloved witch. He was starting to understand a great many things that before his evil heart could not possibly do. This was why she was so powerful, and it was the reason she could defeat Lydia.

Touching one of her dresses that hung on the wall closest to where he stood, Scar whispered to it, as though speaking to his Mariela.

“You are worthy of this sacrifice.” Whether the boys heard him or not, remained to be seen – but it was in that moment that Scar knew what he had to do. His black little heart beat fiercely as he found a renewed vigor. Clapping his hands he turned to the lads and said with a flair that they would not have ever imagined him having.

“Right lads, how about we get to making a spell that takes us all to Hell.”

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Three : SS.

Mariela’s brothers; Sean and Sam don’t know quite what to make of Scar and his tales of Hell.  Was he simply a mad man, or was he telling the truth?

This arc is co-written with Dessy, and is a spin off from the Maze of Greed stories.

Scene setting – Scar’s hat – Seven sins series.

Dessy:  “Considering you just beat your head against the tree, of course you’re gonna be in pain.” Sam commented sarcastically, crossing his across his chest. Honestly, the boys should have left by now. They should have just left this crazy man alone… but they didn’t. Why? Because they wanted to know why their sister’s name was being screamed from his mouth. They needed to know.

“My…Mariela…is trapped in a maze in Hell. She’s there, and I’m here.”

The man finally began speaking in between pants. The boys turned to look at each other, raising an eyebrow as they looked back to the man standing in front of them. Mainly the way he called her “his Mariela”. There confused looks ony got worse as Scar continued talking. He then mentioned a warlock using his hat to send him here as punishment. Sent him from Hell to Earth? As witches, they knew traveling between the worlds was possible, but they didn’t honestly believe this man came from Hell. Plus, why would their sister be in Hell? She was much too good-hearted for that.

The brothers let him finish talking before they said anything. He then went on to mention about how she was the most powerful witch he’s ever met, but she didn’t know her own strength. Maybe it really was their sister. They all came from a long line of powerful witches – although Mariela seemed to have gained more strength than they all did, for reasons unknown. She used her witch abilities more than anyone, and was better with them. She also learned new spells and such easily. She was passionate about her abilities and powers… about being a witch. She cherished being a witch. Their parents knew she was powerful, and the brothers knew it – but Mariela never knew how powerful she was. Mariela was a powerful being, but she never thought she was when it was brought up. And nothing had ever happened for her to need to use her power and strength to prove how powerful she was.

But this still didn’t mean it was her. Not yet. He began speaking about Lydia, and Lydia wanting to use Mariela’s power to cause war in Hell… over the Wrath kingdom. Sean widened his eyes, his green eyes looking at his brother. They all knew that someone would end up finding out about Mariela’s power and wanting to use her for it… they just didn’t expect it to be in Hell, of all places. They expected it to be here. He then talked about the maze, and the brothers noted the guilt in his voice… blaming it on himself.

He tried getting Mariela to take the hat so she could be here. This caused Sam to roll his eyes… their sister was always stubborn. It was certainly starting to sound more like Mariela. He then said that… there was no magic here? Was he nuts? He was standing… kneeling now… on the ground in front of two witches. Of course there was magic. From the way he talked about Mariela, it sounded like he was in love with her… which was weird. Mariela was never one for relationships or love. She certainly never had people fall in love with her – so she says, at least. She did, but she either never noticed or they hid it well.

“You called her “your” Mariela? From the way you talk about her, you make it sound like you’re in love with her or something.” Sam spoke up again. “The way you described her certainly sounds like our sister, down to her being powerful and not knowing it, to her stubborness. But, let me get this straight… You came from Hell? You were sent by a warlock? And Mariela is there in Hell?” he said, shaking his head. “Impossible. Mariela wouldn’t end up in Hell after death. She’s too good-natured. She’s never done anything to land her in hell.”

“Wrong.” Sean finally spoke up, looking at his brother when he gave a confused look. “Marie may have been good natured, but there is one thing she’s done that sent her to Hell.” “What is that?” Sam asked, dropping his arms at his side. “Murder. Remember? We were eleven, Marie was sixteen. We were coming home from a walk when a man attacked us in the alleyway, holding a gun to my head. He threatened to shoot me if Marie didn’t do what she was told. Marie knew he was lying and would kill us anyway, then her next, so she knocked the gun out of his hand and shot him with it.” Sean spoke.”She was sent to Hell for killing him.” he added afterwards.

“Oh… god.” Sam said with wide eyes, shaking his head. “Still doesn’t prove it’s her. Can you describe her to us?” Sam said, looking at Scar. Sean looked over at him as well, running a hand through his light brown hair. “You said there was no magic here?” he then asked. “You’re standing in front of two witches… in the same bloodline as Mariela. She was born and raised in this world. Magic is what got our sister killed.” he crossed his arms. “So what do you mean “magic does not exist”, when it does? You’re standing in front of it.”

Razorbackwriter:  “You called her “your” Mariela? From the way you talk about her, you make it sound like you’re in love with her or something.”

Scar rolled his eyes and looked exasperated. What was with the big hoo haa about him calling Mariela his. God, she did the same thing. It seemed so natural to say she was his, because he really didn’t know where he was, and they spoke of a Mariela…their Mariela and Scar…had his. Now with a terrible headache to contend to, he was going to have to explain himself to these…boys. “Yes….I love her. Throw the book at me. Woah, it is so wrong that an Alp should love a witch, but I do.” This of course was said with much arm flailing as though to emphasize the point. Bringing his fingers back to point at his chest he continued. “My Mariela, Your Mariela…Mariela is in hell. How she got there was a mystery to me. All I know is that I was summoned by Lydia and Mariela to the Kingdom of Greed to serve the Princess.”

Now the story was starting to be told. From the moment that Scar arrived in the palace of Greed, Lydia had plans for him. What she didn’t count on was the fact that by him spending so much time with the young witch, that he would find himself falling for her goodness and beauty. It had nothing to do with power. The Alp himself had power, but most of it lay in the hat that he wore. The hat that was back in the Maze in Hell.

“And yes, I came from hell, via…my own Hat. Which was used against me by a powerful warlock named Raul. Raul works for Lydia. You do the math.” Again, much hand waving as he spoke. To see Scar this upset and emotional was most unusual, but answering the boy’s questions meant a lot of explaining, that he felt he had already done time and time again.

https://i2.wp.com/24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3p4ejS5uG1ql6ewao1_250.gif

“You must be her kin. You sure do ask as many questions. Hmmph.”

Scar pushed himself up off the ground at this point, ready to square off with the lads if they didn’t believe him. He listened to the tale of how she had murdered a man that had threatened to shoot one of them. Again, another roll of the eyes.“Murder….is a one way ticket to hell, fellas.” Of course it was. It was one of the ten commandments, and it had been broken. “No matter how good you are, one bad mistake can cost you dearly.” The Alp was getting tired of all this. He knew in the back of his mind that precious seconds were ticking away, and the longer he was here going on and on about Mariela and not doing anything was like he was wasting time.

Scar was about to facepalm now that they were asking him to prove that she was the one that they had lost years before. The alp fumbled and then he suddenly looked up. He pulled away at his scarf, and there…tightly fixed to his neck was Raul’s collar that had been removed by Mariela from Bandit.

“This…horrid thing. It was one one of the Warlock’s slaves….or something. Mariela broke the magical seal by damaging one of the jewels. It’s a tracker…thingymebob. Horrible thing. The Warlock fixed it onto me, because Mariela took it off Bandit. Another in the maze. Mariela’s magic might still be on it…I don’t know. I’m just an alp…this is all completely beyond me.”

The Alp did not believe magic existed in this world, because he was no longer an alp in form, but a human. He didn’t feel magical, or how he had. The brothers claimed that they were witches. Both of them.

“Male witches? Is there such a thing?’ He said with a raised brow.

~RB~

Dessy:  “Does she love you?” Sam asked, and this caused a glare from his brother. “It doesn’t matter! Our sister is in Hell and it sounds like she’s in danger. That’s what matters.”Sean spoke, shaking his head at his brother then turning to Scar. “You’re an Alp? I’ve heard of that before, but I don’t remember. This… Raul… sounds like bad news. Just how in danger is Mariela?” Sean asked. Sean had the right idea – they needed to worry about their sister.

“You must be her kin. You sure do ask as many questions. Hmmph.”

Sean nodded. “We’re her younger brothers.” he then replied. “I’m Sean, and this my twin brother, Sam” he gestured to his brother, who nodded. “She was very protective over the both of us. That’s why she had sacrificed her life.” Then again, Mariela was always willing to risk her life to save others – every other time she had just gotten lucky. She wasn’t very lucky for the fire.

Scar began explaining the collar around his neck, explaining that Mariela had took it off and Raul snapped it on to him. “Let us take a look at it. While we’re not as… strong and advanced as our sister, chances are that if Marie’s magic is still on it, we might be able to break it off again.” Sam finally spoke up, receiving a nod from his brother. “There’s a lot of things Mariela can do that we can’t… not even her parents. While she taught us a few things, she couldn’t teach us everything before she died… and soem things were hard and impossible for us to learn. But we should be able to break it off.”

“Male witches? Is there such a thing?”

This caused both boys to laugh. “Yes, there’s such a thing. It’s uncommon to find a male witch, as most are born female. But when you’re born from a long bloodline of powerful witches… chances are both genders will be witchs.” Sean spoke.”You said the collar was some sort of tracker? Maybe it can be used to find Marie.” Sam spoke. “Possibly even find a way to send you back to Hell.” They both called her “Marie”, even after death… never her full name. It was the nickname she always went by, and to this day they still called her Marie.

Razorbackwriter:  “Does she love you?”

This question would stop the Alp in his tracks. Did she love him? She never showed it if she did, and it was not like they were any sort of romantic couple. It was very much one sided. He was an Alp. A demon of nightmares. The whole idea of love, was so foreign to him, and yet he was feeling this way for the young witch. Unrequited? Possibly. All he knew was that he was willing to die for her. More than once. If that was not love, then…what was? The two boys went on and on. Asking questions then dismissing it as they conferred on all that Scar had told them. Scar didn’t really think they even knew what an Alp was, but he was pretty much caught between the incessant banter. Back and forth he looked between the two lads as they started asking more questions as to whether Mariela was in a really dangerous situation. Would Scar be acting as he had if she wasn’t? Hadn’t he just explained that the warlock of the maze was a very powerful one.

The twins names were Sam and Sean. Younger brothers of Mariela. They claimed to be male witches, something Scar didn’t know existed. They were not as powerful as say, Mariela, but they had been taught a few things by her, and they were willing to do what they could to help. On learning about the jeweled collar that was fastened around Scar’s neck, again they were eager to see if they could break it off. The notion that it was a tracking device meant there was a slim hope of using it to create a portal to go back to Hell, where Mariela was. All Scar knew was that he had been sent via his own hat. This world, was inside the hat. To escape it would take a great deal of magical power. Was it something that the boys possessed?

Through all the talking and the questions, Scar was beginning to have doubts. As he had told Mariela from the outset of using the hat, there was a price to be paid. So far, the price was the loss of his magical power. His third eye would not even open. He was in human form. Scar watched on as the boys pondered using the collar to send him back.

https://i2.wp.com/i99.photobucket.com/albums/l282/Ellie_Rigby/Once%20Upon%20a%20Time/tumblr_mbn11p0Qg61ri60u0o5_250.gif

“I don’t think it can. The only ones that have even a slim chance have to have magical power in this place.” Scar stared at them both as he loosened his scarf further. The horrible truth was he didn’t think he was ever going to see Mariela again.

“If you think you can break it off me…..you are welcome to try.”

The Maze of Greed – Part Eight : SS.

Breaking the curse brought about anger from beyond the Maze.  The trapped trio were not ready for this turn of events.

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed, Seven Sins.

Co-written with Dessy, Artie and Phyln.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar stood in behind Mariela, twisting his bottom lip with two fingers as he hoped that Mariela would find her true power deep within and be able to undo the Warlock’s magic. It was all about the jewels. Break the jewels, break the collar. The Alp truly believed in her greatness, and had seen it well before Lydia had even bothered to notice. When she did however, Lydia wanted Scar to keep tabs on her, in her every movements. This was an unknown blessing, since the more time he spent with her, the more he fell in love with the pretty and innocent young witch. The wait seemed to be ages, and Scar had to hold himself back from over reacting when finally there was a cracking sound. The smile grew on his face as the human let out a joyous sound and it was true. Mariela had done what was deemed impossible.

“Hey… Hey! You.. You did it! Shit! That’s awesome!”

The collar was thrown into a nearby hedge, and while Mariela was probably checking the girl’s neck out, Scar went over and picked it up off the ground. He was curious to see if the jewels had indeed cracked. One had a definite crack in it. The collar was now faulty. Scar twirled it around his finger and let out a laugh.

“Now this is what I call…a souvenir.” He pretended to chew on it to see if it was real gold. Sure enough it was. The Alp could no longer hold himself back, and ran to hug Mariela. So thrilled that she did something good. But as he went to embrace her, there was a swirling of black smoke that built up to form the image of a man. That man. Raul.

“So….you are the one that broke the collar. My….little witch.” His eyes glaring at Mariela with a sickening menace. He pulled on his gloves as he shot a look at Bandit on the ground, covered in cuts and bruises. ‘“I’ll deal with you…soon enough, my sweet Bandit.” He rounded on Scar and Mariela and then snarled. “But….no one…touches my things!!!” He raised a hand towards Scar and blasted him back with a powerful surge of energy. Scar hit one of the hedge walls, while the collar spun around and around in the air. It was being controlled by Raul, as he started to grin and bare his teeth.“You’re the Witch’s toy boy, hmm? Well, how about I collar you!”

Scar tried to stand up, but the collar whizzed at him at speed and then locked onto his neck. The Alp struggled and tried to prize it off as his eyes pleaded with Mariela. “Get the human away…..quickly!” He didn’t want the witch to suffer, and thought he could fight the Warlock on his own. Raul raised his hand and then drew back sharply, with the hat flying off Scar’s head. It landed on the ground and then started spinning. Scar looked on horrified as he started to levitate. Gasses going into his nostril from the collar. He was fighting with everything he had in him. “Not the hat……Not the hat!” he screamed. The Warlock was now feeling a rising sense of triumph as he knew much of magic and the best way to get rid of Scar. In the hat. Scar started spinning round into a purple vortex, much like a portal opening from the hat. He was screaming out Mariela’s name as he started to get smaller and smaller and then with a loud bang….Scar vanished into the hat.

Phyln:  Boots clicking against the ground as Solomon approached the entranceway of the maze, bringing himself to a halt a couple steps from entering the maze. he tilted his head back as he admired the design work, Reaching out he placed a hand on the stone. “Well this is the place.” then looking forward again his eyes began to take in what was visible of the interior. He let out a small sigh of displeasure as finding his way through a maze was not exactly on his list of things he enjoyed. Reluctantly he stepped forward into the maze running his hand along the wall hoping that he would continue to feel the force he was drawn too and it would aid his path through the maze.

He continued on to a point where the way he had entered from was no longer visible. The deeper in he got the more vivid the sounds from within became. The maze and its contents were new to him he didn’t know if there were others further in or if creatures inhabited this place. His concern growing he reached his free hand into his jacket and pulled his cane a quick flick and the segments popped out and snapped back together with a click. Continuing deeper into the maze one had on the wall following the draw the other continuing the monotone click of his cane on the floor of the maze.

Dessy:  Mariela kept her focus on the collar – nothing else. As she ran her hand over each jewel, she heard a cracking sound. The collar then broke open, and Mariela let out a shocked gasp as it did so, before hearing Bandit’s happy words. “I did it…” she spoke, a bit shocked with herself, standing up. “I actually did it.” she said, giving a smile to Bandit and a nod. “You’re welcome.” she said, before she turned to face Scar.

She laughed as Scar twirled the collar around his fingers, then chewing on the collar. But Mariela was a bit shocked when Scar ran up to embrace her, but was more than happy to return his hug. Unfortunately, the happiness didn’t last as she saw the swirling of black smoke then the formation of a man. She narrowed her eyes, automatically assuming the guy was Raul.

“I am. And you must the one that made the collar… Raul.” Mariela spoke back. When Raul spoke the words “my little witch”, Mariela narrowed her eyes. “I’m not “your little witch”. You don’t own me.” she snapped back. She turned her eyes to look down at Bandit when he spoke to her, moving her self to be standing in front of Bandit as she turned her gaze back to him.

“Scar!” Mariela shouted when Scar was shot back, the collar locking around his neck. Scar shouted for her to get the human away, and Mariela opened her mouth to speak… but then Scar’s hat flew off and the Alp was being sucked in. “No!!!” Mariela screamed, but saw nothing left but the hat as Scar vanished. “Bastard!” Mariela shouted in anger. She then looked down at Bandit, and back up at Raul. The question was: fight or flight? She needed to get Bandit out of here… but now Mariela was nothing but angry, and the guy deserved whatever was coming for him.

Artie:  Bandit’s eyes hadn’t looked at Scar, instead they were closed as she focused on finally getting the damn collar off of her neck.. Finally.. But she knew this relief would be short-lived, as a terrible noise of Raul’s voice was heard. “I’m not something to be dealt with, you son of a bit-..” But Mariela had already begun to talk, Bandit’s eyes widening as Scar screamed and suddenly was thrown into the hat, only to vanish. “Fuck!” The blonde haired girl would look up at Mariela, already feeling defeat as her gaze would then turn to meet Raul’s, hardening.. With the last amount of energy she had, she would pick up the dagger that had previously fallen and held it up, sharp point towards Raul.. though, it required an immense amount of effort, her hand shaking as she began to sweat, mixing with the dirt and blood on her body. Worse come to worse, Bandit would take the blade and run it through her own heart rather than go back with Raul.

Razorbackwriter:  The Alp’s hat spun around and around as the cries of Scar faded into nothingness. Scar was gone. The Warlock raised his head in triumph. The pair were foolish to even think that they would dare be a match for him. Women were weak, in his eyes. All of them, even Lydia. She had her weakness. That was ambition itself. The very thing that gave her great power, was also the one thing that could bring her down. Even if she was the Princess of Greed as well. The two fused together could only spell disaster….eventually.

Mariela’s cries for her little Alp were falling on deaf ears. The Warlock acted out of revenge. For breaking Bandit’s collar, the pair would pay the price. Now that the Alp was in the hat….he was no longer a threat. Grinning, the Warlock mocked Mariela with an imitation of her voice.

“Scar!…Scar!…Ahahaha. Cry all you want, little witch, but your play boy is now lost to Hell…Forever.”

He watched how the witch kept looking between Bandit and him, as though trying to decide to fight or flee. Oh, that was right, the Alp told her to run. It was almost comical to think that Bandit could run….considering. Thinking he had it all under control, he simply folded his arms, instead of raising them and attacking the pair at the same time. That was, until he saw Bandit reach for her dagger. Oh yes, her favorite weapon – beside her mouth.

Bandit’s hand quivered and shook as she pointed the dagger at her Master. Raul didn’t seem phased. Again brushing off any fears that she could do him in. Not thinking for a moment she would use it on herself.

“Right….time to end this.”

Just as Raul lowered his arms, and started to march for Bandit, there came a massive roar from behind him. A loud…yodel that…had a Scottish edge to it.

“I don’t think so ….LADDY!”

~WHACK~

A massive axe was swung with the blunt end towards the Warlock’s head, knocking him clear off his feet and into the bushes, where the Giant then gave him a right hefty kick up the arse.

The ginger haired giant with the speckled beard then looked down at the two tiny women that were there.

“Okeee…then. Can anyone tell me…where the bloody hell I am? Do either of you know a Quinn?”

It was Douglas…the Giant.

The Maze of Greed – Part Six : SS.

Chancing upon the human who was also a prisoner of the maze brought out Mariela’s good nature.  Of course the girl needed help, but Scar and Mariela needed to get away.  Would they assist the girl, or did they have something bigger to worry about?

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Artie and Dessy.

Razorbackwriter:  Against Scar’s better judgement, he fell in behind Mariela whilst she started to do an introduction of sorts to this bleeding mess of a human laying on the ground. In a way, it was nice to see her take charge the way she did, but the fact she kept telling Scar to shut up made him slightly miffed. After all, in his mind he was only just trying to help.

“I’m Mariela, a witch. This is Scar.”

“A nightmare.” Scar said with a tip of his hat. Well, he was a nightmare demon, so he was close in his introduction. Scar kept his eyes skyward however, rather than have to see another angry glare from Mariela, while she was trying to convince the girl that they were of no harm. “We’re trapped here just like you. We have no intention of hurting you. We want to help you.” There she went with the Florence Nightingale approach. Scar, was more direct.

“Did Raul hurt you?’

There, he asked the big question. If the girl had been a victim of the Warlock and knew his name, then he would have no choice but to assist in helping the girl. Course, the girl was not really in much of a state to answer that. She had just dropped the blade, after trying to find out what day it was. Perhaps she had been out of it for some time.

“Near midnight, Saturday eve. The Night of the Greed ball.” Again, these would give Bandit clues as to how long she had been in the maze. He was starting to wonder if she even knew she was in a maze. Bandit wanted names, but Mariela had already offered those. Was she hard of hearing? Using his hands, and with an animated face he said.

“THIS…IS…MARIELA!…SHE…IS….A…WITCH!” He signed this as he raised his voice as thought she was deaf.

“I’M SCAR!….LOOK….LET THE WITCH….HELP YOU.”

Whether she would or not, remained to be seen.

~RB~

Dessy:  “A nightmare.”

This caused Mariela to reach over and smack Scar once again. “That’s not helping!” she spoke, but turned her attention back to the girl. Once she dropped the blade, she didn’t hesitate to run over to the girl’s side. She knelt down next to her on her knees, looking the girl over. She opened her mouth to speak, but Scar had already asked. This caused Mariela to give a tilt of her head towards him. “Raul? The warlock that gave Lydia the mirror?” she mouthed, but looked back down at the girl. “I don’t know how much my healing can help you. But it’s worth a shot.”

But then she turned her head to glare at Scar. She was tempted to throw that dagger at him, but didn’t. “Will you be quiet and come help me?” she asked. “I think she needs water.” She looked back at the girl, assessing the damage. She held her hand over the girl’s body. Her healing would only help her a little bit, at least to not be in so much pain. But the girl would need a lot more than that to help her, but what she needed they didn’t have the maze. Mariela would try her best.

Mariela ran her hands over the girl’s body, trying to heal whatever she could and trying to stop whatever pain she could. “I’ll try and heal you, but with how injured you are I don’t know if it’ll do much except lessen the pain only a little bit.” she spoke. “I can’t help you anymore than that, at least not here in the maze. It isn’t exactly a “medical” place.” she said, looking down to the girl. “Can you try and tell me your name?” she said, looking back over as she tried to heal as much as she could.

Artie:  The “healing” hurt perhaps more than the actual cuts, Bandit giving a strangled gurgle that would otherwise be a growl of pain. Her hand shook in agony, the little markings on her fingertips closing in a painful itchy fashion. Bandit would look at Mariela and bare her teeth, in pain and somewhat hostility, though not directly aimed at her but more the pain. As she healed, only slightly, the dryness in her throat subsided to enough that she could speak. “You can call me Bandit.. And yes, I know that.. Scum.. He put me here.. He.. He put this collar on me and I can’t get it off..” She would reach up to it, attempting to get her fingernails underneath the harsh fabric but to no avail… “Help me.. I think he’s been controlling my mind with it.. I keep seeing things, I don’t know what’s real or what’s fake.. I was forced to..” As her mind suddenly began to recall the Red Velvet club, she swallowed, her voice fading. She felt no need to say more on the matter.

“Greed.. I’ve never been to Greed.” Bandit mumbled, looking down at her hands as they now went to the dagger – though she would give a faint cry at trying to pick it up due to the pain… Though, with a shaking arm, she’d tuck the weapon back into her boot.. “I can’t walk.. I can’t feel my legs.. Oh, god! I can’t feel my legs!” The numbness of her body was overtaking her. Her arms felt limp and heavy. Mariela had healed Bandit’s pain, but in the lack of pain was no feeling at all. Of course, it wasn’t that she was paralyzed.. It was simply that she was so heavily damaged that she could only feel the pain, and without that pain.. Nothing.

Razorbackwriter:  Mariela was slap happy. That was how Scar saw it. Scolding him and now physical violence. He held a gloved hand up to his cheek and grumbled under his breath for his troubles. So much for helping. The young witch had obviously learnt a bit from Lydia, or so it seemed. The alp zipped his lip and instead of doing anything further, he simply folded his arms indignantly and turned up his nose at the whole scene. Let her help the tragic human, he thought as he let her set to work.

“I think she needs water.”

Scar simply shrugged. It was not like he was carrying any water on him, or even knew where the nearest fountain was. It was a maze, after all. Mariela was soon learning that this girl, Bandit – was in fact a victim of Raul the Warlock. Scar was right. Course, she had told Scar to shut up so many times, that Scar refused to say another word, merely running his pinched fingers along the line of his mouth as though he had zipped it, and threw an imaginary key over his shoulder.

Mariela’s healing powers were doing more harm than good, if the cries and gurgles were anything to go by. She twitched and shook violently as the magic did its job, but it wasn’t enough. Hearing her growl at Mariela was enough for Scar to roll his eyes and that look of “I told you so.” was plastered all over his face. The whole…goody two shoes gig was really not his bag.

The girl’s name was Bandit, and she had been left in the maze by Raul with a strange collar fastened around her neck. It had markings that the Alp had never seen before along with glistening, sparkling jewels. It must be worth a pretty penny. As to what it did, well, the girl seemed to think it had something to do with mind control, and hallucinations. Scar rubbed his chin as he thought to himself. She could be the Warlock’s property, if she wore his collar. Maybe she had disobeyed him, and this was her punishment. Mind you it looked like she had taken a right beating.

When the girl had tried to put the dagger that she had drawn on them, back in her boot, she started to scream that she couldn’t feel her legs. The magic had somehow brought about a paralysis. Not that Mariela would have known this. Scar turned away for a moment and then mouthed a few obscenity s so that Mariela couldn’t hear him. It was one thing to be lost in a maze created by Lydia. It was quite another to somehow drag this helpless girl to safety, when he wasn’t sure where that was anymore. The alp took his hat off and raked his gloved fingers through his disheveled black hair.

Snorting under his breath, he turned back to Mariela and then handed her the hat.

“Place it on the ground, two feet from the girl. Then….I want you to spin it.” The Alp was giving her instructions on how to use the hat. “You then take the girl’s hand and jump into the hat. It will get you both to safety.”

The Alp wouldn’t take no for an answer.

~RB~

Dessy:  When the girl started showing signs of pain, Mariela flinched. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know it would hurt you.” she said, cursing herself. She looked over at Scar, raising an eyebrow. “So now you’re going to be stubborn and not talk at all?” she said. Mariela looked down when Bandit spoke.about Raul. “So the warlock is the cause for everything, it seems.” she said, more to herself than anything. She looked down at the collar, running her figner over it as the girl begged for help and talked about how he thinks he’s mind controlling her. “I wish I knew a way to get it off, but right now, I don’t.” she spoke. “I’m sure there’s a way. There has to be.”

She looked up to see that Scar had this “I told you so” look on her face, and it caused Mariela to just stick her tongue out at him. When the girl started panicking about not being able to feel her legs, Mariela looked down with a horrified expression. “It’s okay, it’s okay. I don’t think your paralyzed… something must have happened with my healing, and I’m sorry. We’ll fix it, I promise. Right now, we’ve all gotta get out of here.” she said, biting the corner of her lip.

She looked up when she was handed Scar’s hat. Hearing him speak, she frowned deeply. “No, Scar.” she spoke, defiantly. “I’m not leaving without you.” she then spoke softly, still holding the hat. She was being stubborn again. Scar wouldn’t take no for an answer, she knew that – but she wasn’t going to leave without him. She refused to leave without him.

Artie:  Bandit looked back and forth between the two – lovers, maybe? Her eyes fluttered a bit as she gazed away and at her legs.. She had her own problems to deal with, not to be in these two lovebirds’ feud. “Raul is a manipulative bastard.” Bandit gave a slight growl, moving her hands to massage her unfeeling legs. “Why don’t we all just use the.. hat.. wouldn’t that make more sense?” She held skepticism in her voice, unsure of exactly what a hat would do. Then again, this was hell. She could expect that something even as seemingly ordinary as a hat could contain some magical value. “But.. never mind that.. Is there any progress on a possible way out?” Bandit raised a brow, wondering if the two had thought of mapping it out as they went along..

“Every maze has to have an exit, right?”

Razorbackwriter:  “No, he is not the cause of everything.” Scar said in an exasperated tone. The real culprit behind everything was Lydia. At least that is how Scar saw it. The Alp watched as Mariela stared at the collar that was around the human girl’s neck. The jeweled collar was charmed, and done for a reason. It was not the kind that had a lock that you could prize off. It would be magically sealed. The only way it would come off was in a place where magic didn’t exist. Again, they were going around in circles and Scar had his reasons for earlier offering Mariela the hat. She knocked him back then….and she was refusing again now. Damn her for being so …so stubborn. Scar’s lips flattened as she said that she was not leaving without him.

It was then the girl on the ground appeared to have all the answers. She had been snarling about how Raul the Warlock was a manipulative bastard. He must have been to get that collar around her neck in the first place. Scar and Mariela knew nothing of this girl. To add to that, Scar’s intel about Raul was limited. He had only overheard them twice, but it was enough to piece together that he was bad news. Even worse than Scar himself.

“Why don’t we all just use the.. hat.. wouldn’t that make more sense?”

Hearing the human ask why they all couldn’t use it, Scar smacked his lips together and turned his head sideways and then cast his eyes down to the ground where she lay.

“Because….there’s no coming back.” Surely Mariela knew what that meant.

The alp pulled away from Mariela and moved a few step closer to the girl on the ground, before crouching down to her level. He made sure that she could hear what he was going to say.

“Unlike you….we are creatures of this world. Going through that hat strips us of who….and what we are.” Scar was a part of that. His magic….everything. He was more than willing to send Mariela into it, if it meant her safety. For him though, it meant something else. Scar started to get up, when the girl asked about a possible way out of the maze. That was when he said something that he knew would probably scare Mariela to death.

“Oh…there’s an exit.” The Alp put his hat back on and tapped it twice. An eerie smile played on his lips.

The Maze of Greed – Part Three : SS.

There are many untold dangers lurking in the Maze of Greed.  Mariela, the witch has escaped one, thanks to the magic of Scar’s hat.

Scene setting – The Maze of Greed.  Seven Sins Series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar felt a tingling sensation just after he had shouted for Mariela to put the hat on if she could. He knew what the hat could do, but did Mariela? Hearing her voice, the desperation in the tone made Scar all the more determined to find her in this hellish maze. Scar had a renewed sense of urgency as he raced down yet another path that was lined with hedge walls so high that you couldn’t see over them. The alp was panting, much like a canine – rounding another bend and yet seeing no sign of his beloved Mariela.

The snake woman statue lurched forward with the intent to grab at the witch. This statue that had come to life was one of the charmed attractions of the maze. A deadly creature that if she had gotten her hooks into the young witch, she would have set her venomous snakes upon her. Her yellowing eyes glistened with hatred as she swung out, only to have the witch vanish before her eyes. All because she put on the magical hat. The snakes drew back their heads sharply – then started a slow dance like motion, using their senses to try and feel a change in the air flow to find the wily witch.

The charms clinked and rattled all around the snake woman statue, who was now hissing violently in her desperation to snatch at the witch. Her head snapped towards the sound of Mariela’s foot falls as she fled from the scene. Her nose crinkled up in disgust, since she could not capture the girl, but just as the statue started to stiffen, Scar turned the corner – almost running smack bang into it.

“GAK!” The alp explained. He looked up slowly to see the menacing eyes of the statue once again brighten. “Oh……shit.”Yes, the Alp was frightened, but then he used his agility in speed to zip around the statue. Making faces, and blowing raspberries at it. The snakes flew out, snapping at him wildly but the alp was simply too fast. He was like a blur of black and white, being the tuxedo that he wore. This was turning into a bit of a game but one where he was trying to get the snakes all tangled up and cause the statue to become trapped within her own creatures.

“Ehehehehehehe!”

Scar was such an odd one at times.

~RB~

Dessy:  Mariela had eventually stopped running – mainly so she could catch her breath. She turned around to look in the direction she was just running from. She hadn’t heard anything else from Scar after last time, and she was beginning to worry. The maze was huge, and she didn’t want to know what else was in this maze, or get lost in it. She was walking backwards, watching the statue as it appeared angry that it couldn’t catch her. This caused a grin to appear on Mariela’s face.

She then squinted her eyes at a blur of black and white – before hearing familiar laughter. Scar. Mariela had ran towards it a few feet, before stopping and watching Scar make faces at the statue. “What the hell is he doing?” she mumbled. Mariela had a very amused expression on her face, and it took every urge to not burst into laughter. He was acting like a five year old, and the entire scene was quite amusing. He was… an odd one, that much was for sure.

She waited for Scar to run towards her, but the Alp seemed too busy. Mariela gave a groan and a roll of her eyes, before running in his direction. She took Scar’s hat off to make her visible, before quickly grabbing his hand. She spun around afterwards and began running again, pulling Scar along with her. She stopped after they had ran several feet and handed his hat to him. “I believe you might need this back.” she spoke, although she was also trying to catch her breathe. “And what took you so long?”

Razorbackwriter:  It was a strange, yet comical sight to see the snakes slither around and around the statue maiden daring to try and attack the wicked alp who was simply way too fast for them. Within no time at all, the snakes were all knotted and tied up, causing the statue to be unable to lift her arms. Scar continued with the childish taunting, the poking out of his tongue and the cross eyed expression that would have any child in fits of laughter. He would have continued, had it not been for the sudden sound of Mariela’s voice – a light mumble asking him what on earth he was doing.

Scar finally stopped to catch his breath, tossing a glance back at the statue and then smiling proudly at Marelia.

“Snake charming.”

It was said so off the cuff, that it was simply ridiculous. Before Scar could say how pleased he was to see her, Mariela snatched at his hand and spun on her heel to drag the wicked Alp along with her. Scar almost got pulled off his feet and it took him a bit of effort to keep up with the witch. Only when she stopped a few feet away from the now incensed statue that she spoke to him. It was hard to tell what she was saying, cause she was visibly out of breath.

“I believe you might need this back.”

“Why thank you. Did the trick, didn’t it?’ Scar took the hat graciously and placed it back on his head, giving it a firm pat and then tilting it to the side. You had to admit, it looked better on Scar than it did on Mariela.

“And what took you so long?”

“Ah…yes. Well. Remember birdy?” Scar said with a slight tilt of the head. He wasn’t sure how the witch would take this news. “Let’s just say he would make wonderful pillow stuffing.” In other words, he was dead. Scar shrugged his shoulders. “Oops. My temper got the bad of me.”

Pouting he approached Mariela and uttered softly. “I am sorry. Old habits…and all that.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Snake charming.”

This caused Mariela to roll her eyes. “That’s just…” she started, before sighing. “You know what? Nevermind.” she then said with a shake of her head. She looked over towards the statue and gave a grin. “Well, at least you’ve managed to get snake lady over there distracted for a while. That’s a good thing.” she said with a nod of her head. She then turned her gaze back to Scar. By this time, she had caught her breath back – at least for now.

“Mm… yes, it did. The hat isn’t just a simple accessory after all.” Mariela commented, grinning. The hat looked far better on Scar than it did on her. That was for sure. Mariela narrowed her eyes and titled her head at the mention of Birdy. “The one you got in a fight with? Yes, of course I remember him.” she spoke. At his comment, she widened her eyes. “You… killed him?” she then spoke in a shocked tone. “I can clearly see that.” she said when he mentioned his temper. She then shook her head. “One less person we have to worry about.”

Mariela gave Scar a pat on his arm when he apologized. “No need. Old habits die hard. I get it.” she gave a smile, before growing serious and putting her hands on her hips. “Now, I don’t suppose you have a trick in that fancy hat of yours to get us out of this death trap of a maze, huh?”

Razorbackwriter:  Rows of glistening razor sharp teeth were on show as Scar cracked a huge smile at Mariela’s words. According to her, he had done a good thing by trapping the snake woman statue in her own snakes. It was rare for anyone to pay he a compliment, let alone say he did something good, considering what he had just done to Birdy. Course, what he did do to Birdy was the next source of conversation and her reaction left him feeling a tad nervous. Scar succumbed to temptation to eliminate the raven man as he believed that Mariela’s life was in danger at his hands.

“One less creature, my young witch. I dare say that Lydia has many more lurking amongst the hedge walls.” His eyes taking in their current surrounds before settling his gaze back upon the beautiful Mariela. For a young innocent she was handling the maze rather well….considering. “This maze is no simple parlor game. It was designed with a sole purpose in mind.”Again that would take thoughts back to Lydia’s evil schemes. One thing he did know was that Lydia did not do this on her own.

“There is…one more thing I didn’t tell you.” Scar started, only stopping when Mariela asked if there was another fancy trick in that hat of his. Scar pinched the edge of his hat with his thumb and index finger – dragging the pair along the brim with a quick flick. The alp’s mind racing as he teetered on whether to tell Mariela or not.

He lowered his hand uneasily and stepped back from the witch.

“It….could. But I must warn you, there is always a price to pay.”

What he meant by that was something he was not quite ready to divulge.

~RB~

Dessy:  Mariela watched him as he smiled after she commented on him trapping the statue with her own snakes. She gave a smile as well, but the smile then went way and ended up with an eyebrow raise. “Your witch? I don’t recall ever being “yours”…” she spoke, narrowing her eyes and crossing her arms. HIS witch? She wasn’t property. Scar didn’t own her – nobody did. “Yeah… I really don’t wanna stick around to to find out what those other creatures are.” she said nervously, this causing her to shiver because she could only imagine. And she didn’t want to.

“Really? I could have never guessed considering I got got attacked by a statue and her snakes.” Mariela said with an eye roll. “That “sole purpose” is obviously death. Lydia is much more evil than I originally thought.” she stated. Mariela’s face grew serious at Scar’s next words.

“There is…one more thing I didn’t tell you.”

“Oh, boy.” Mariela sighed. “And what would that be?” she asked, mentally preparing for whatever came out of the Alp’s mouth. She was not having fun right now. Not at all. Mariela eyed him the entire time, and wehen he took a step back, Mariela tilted her blonde head. “I don’t like the way you said that.” she spoke with a frown. “What “price”? Why does everything come with a price?”

The Maze of Greed – Pt 2 – SS.

Scar yells for Mariela to run off into the Maze, as he sets to try and defeat those that seek to harm her.  Namely, Lydia, the Princess of Greed.

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy :  Mariela’s green eyes watched from behind the mask as the raven fluttered in front of him, turning back into the man Lydia was seen with at the ball. Her eyes squinted as she tilted her head, looking at the mirror he held in his hand. Soon Lydia’s face showed up, and Mariela widened her eyes before looking over at Scar, who she was now standing behind. Her gaze turned back to the mirror, and back to the Princess of Greed – the one she had trusted with her life, but now felt nothing but anger and betrayal. She saw the flick of his hat and looked down at it, staring at it for a few minutes before turning her gaze back up.

“Since when did you ever care about a woman’s heart? I always thought you were too wrapped up in a set of tits to even bother to care for a woman truly.” Lydia spoke, and this caused Mariela to widen her eyes before she looked down at Scar. The Alp was in love with her. That was it. That was why he asked her to be his date to the ball. That was why he was so eager to get her out of there and protect her when he was supposed to be serving Lydia. It all made sense now – sort of. Everything but the part about Lydia and Mariela’s supposed “greatness” and what Lydia wanted her for. Once again, she looked down at the hat, and one of her gloved hands that was behind her back had reached out to grab it.

But then Scar had run towards the raven man and the mirror.

Mariela quickly reached out and caught the hat in her hands. Afterwards, she kicked off the heels she was wearing that way it would easier to run. She looked up as Scar yelled for her to run, and she opened her mouth to speak, but instead she grabbed the bottom of her dress with her hand that wasn’t holding his hat, and she began running. Eventually she couldn’t hear the fight from behind her, but she continued running through the maze like Scar told her to do.

Razorbackwriter:  Blood dripped from the corner of Scar’s mouth as he had taken a violent punch to the right side of his jaw. The hit was enough to throw him off balance, but if you could see the raven man, he was in really bad shape. A lucky punch was all he had managed to get in so far, and Scar was just getting warmed up. Seeing Lydia make a run for it down into the mysterious maze, the Alp found his courage. Scar spat a blood lugey on the ground at the Raven man’s feet and snarled.

“So, Blackie. Lydia’s got you doing her dirty work now, eh? Feathering her nest too?”Scar circled around the raven man menacingly, who was trying to back away. It was safe to say without Lydia’s presence, he was not the courageous fighter after all. The mirror had been smashed into many pieces and littered the ground at the two men’s feet. The reflection had gone to black, as the other Lydia was in the main glass mirror at the center of the Labyrinth. The Raven man went to swing again, but Scar was faster. He snatched the raven man’s wrist and turned his arm in such a way, that it had the raven man’s knees buckling, and he went crashing to the ground. Scar grinned, his teeth stained with blood as he twisted harder. Bone could be heard to break and the raven man screamed in agony.

“STOP!…STOP!” His cries though went unheard, as Scar roared loudly and snapped the man’s arm. Instantly, the raven man changed back to that of the bird, and tried to flap its wings, but one of them was broken. It flailed about pathetically on the ground and this was when Scar tilted his head with a glorious grin spreading across his face.

“You…WILL NEVER HARM HER!” His boot came crashing down on the raven, breaking it’s neck. Blood spurted out from beneath his heal, as he stomped on the raven three more times – ensuring it was dead.

Scar finally came to his senses, and started to wipe the blooded feathers and guts off his boot. A sigh of relief released from his lips, but then he remembered that Mariela was now lost somewhere in the maze. Scar would find her, so long as she held onto his hat. Glancing back at the palace, which now had all its doors and windows sealed with a black crystal, Scar knew he had more time and took off after Mariela, in the efforts to catch up with her again.

Deeper in the maze, around the next turn from where Mariela was running, as a statue of a woman, with snakes and charms adorned around her near naked body. At the approaching footsteps, the eyes of the statue suddenly opened and the snakes all hissed – raising their heads.

Dessy:  Mariela didn’t know how far she had ran, or where she was. All she knew was that she needed to keep running. Running through a maze wasn’t as easy as one could imagine. Every dead end Mariela would run into, she’d have to run in the other direction. This happened a few more times as the young witch continued to run. She didn’t stop, not even to take a breath or look at where she was going. She didn’t look back or turn around. She kept running.

She could see the castle and she noticed that the doors and windows were sealed. Apparently, the commotion in the ballroom was a lot worse than Mariela had originally thought. But she didn’t have time to stop and think about that – she had to keep running. She wasn’t sure if Scar had stopped fighting, or if he was looking for her or not. She had no clue, and even now as she ran for her life she was still confused on what was going on.

Mariela made a turn, and there she was met with a statue of a woman covered in snakes and charms. When she stepped closer, she saw the statue’s eyes open and this caused her to stop in her tracks and take a few steps back. Then she heard hissing, and the snakes from the statue started raising their heads up. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Mariela said in frustration with a huff.

Razorbackwriter:  The statue was made from marble. A fine and delicate white that was veined with a darker colour grey. The likeness to a real creature was uncanny, as though it was crafted by the most skilled of sculptures. But as Mariela would discover, there was much more to this statue than met the eye. The loud groan and cracking sound as the statue became animated would give the young witch great cause for concern and fright. There were about eight snakes that had curved their way around the statue’s body, and each was slithering against the cool of their Mistress’s marble skin. But as they moved, they each started to change colour, with vibrant gold rings that looked to be pumping some sort of toxin through their veins. It was a terrifying spectacle, only to be made worse with the shivering sound of their tails. Each set of snake eyes focused upon the young witch, their glowing yellow eyes ever fierce as one by one the heads snapped their jaws at Mariela.

In another part of the maze, Scar was running hard. Going as fast as he could to find his beloved little witch; Mariela. No doubt he had given her a good head start, but he also knew of the dangers that lurked within the hedged walls of the maze of Greed. It was not designed to be a fun obstacle course. Oh no. This was meant to be a one time only trip. Those that entered would be lucky to leave with their lives.

Lydia…..had made sure of that.

“I’m coming, Mariela!” The Alp cried out. His face contorted with the fear that something could happen to her if he was not fast enough. The maze like tracks kept leading him to dead ends, and his frustration was building. If only he had the time to explain the magic of the hat. Scar had never ever given it to anyone before. It was what made him who he was and in inexperienced hands, it could be deadly.

Another dead end.

“Mariela….if you can hear me. Put the hat on!”

Back at the statue, the evil looking snake woman lunged towards Mariela. Her clawed hands snatching at the air, trying to get a hold of her, while her snakes hissed and her charms and necklets clinked.

Dessy:  Mariela observed the statue carefully. It was made from marble, and had to have been sculpted from a very experienced sculpture – it looked too much like a real creature. The statue groaned, and Mariela’s face quickly twisted to one of concern. She took two more steps back. Mariela’s green eyes scanned over each snake, watching them change color, the entire time taking more and more steps back. Mariela turned her head to look behind her, before looking back at the statue. Where was scar? And what the hell kind of a maze was this? This seemed more like a death trap. Then again, Lydia probably planned it that way. All of this was Lydia’s doing. Evil, traitorous bitch.

As Mariela kept stepping farther back from the statue, her mind wandered on what to do. She couldn’t run. Fighting would probably just end badly. Scar sure as hell wasn’t any help. So what was she supposed to do? She then heard someone calling her name. It was faint – but she recognized Scar’s voice. “Scar!” the witch yelled back. She heard him mention the hat and she looked down at it. Of course! The hat! Why the hell didn’t she think of that sooner?

She looked up at the statue, then back at the hat. She quickly ripped the mask off of her face, dropping it on the ground. Then as soon as the statue lunged towards her, Mariela put on the hat and stepped to the right. The statue couldn’t seem to find her again. She was invisible. “Huh… The little Alp’s hat isn’t just a ridiculous accessory, after all.” she spoke aloud. She took this moment to turn around and start running again. If Scar was looking for her, whenever he found her mask on the ground, he should know what direction she ran off to. Hopefully.
