Well before Instagram, Facebook and Twitter; the movie Zoolander was ahead of its time as far as the social media juggernaut with the portrayal of Derek Zoolander by Ben Stiller. The actor is currently in Australia to promote the release in February of the eagerly anticipated sequel; Zoolander 2.
Ben was interviewed by the ABC’s Julia Baird, in a frank and interesting discussion about the original movie, and what we can expect from the latest offering.

This ad caused a bit of a stir with the Vegans though. Poor buggers. Hehehe.

C-c-c-come,
Come inside,
Oh I’ve been expecting
You here tonight
Sh-sh-sh-shoes
Shake ’em off
While I go and turn
The music down soft
(ahhhhhh)
Oh but all I got
Is a s-single bed
Ain’t no room
For your sweet head
Now ain’t it a shame
You missed the last train
Coz all I got is a
S-single bed
S-s-s-single bed
S-single bed
There ain’t no room
For your sweet head
S-s-s-single bed
S-single bed
I got a one solitary
Lonesome
Single Bed
P-p-p-pour
Out your wine
And we could explore
Each others minds
T-t-t-time
Don’t it fly?
When the pleasures of night
Are reachin’ so high
(highhhhhh)
Oh but all I got
Is a s-single bed
There ain’t no room
For your sweet head
Now ain’t it a shame
You missed the last train
Coz all I got is a
S-single bed
S-s-s-single bed
S-single bed
There ain’t no room
For your sweet head
S-s-s-single bed
S-single bed
I got a one solitary
Lonesome
Single Bed
(Da da da da da daaa,
Baby don’t cry
Bye bye baby
Bye Bye Bye
Australia has ranked 2nd in the UN’s annual Human Development Index (HDI) report.
The HDI is calculated using various factors including life expectancy, education and gross national income.
Australia’s score came in at 0.935, while Norway took out the top spot with 0.945.
We also placed ahead of Switzerland, Denmark and Netherlands.
Australia did well in all three disciplines – with a life expectancy of 82.4 years, an average schooling period of 13 years, and an average annual income of $42,261. Norway had very similar results to us, except their average income was over $20,000 higher than us.
Standing at the limit of an endless ocean
Stranded like a runaway lost at sea
City on a rainy day down in the harbor
Watching as the gray clouds shadow the bay
Looking everywhere ’cause I had to find you
This is not the way that I remember it here
Anyone will tell you it’s a prisoner island
Hidden in the summer for a million years
Great Southern Land
Burned you black
So you look into the land, it will tell you a story
Story about a journey ended long ago
Listen to the motion of the wind in the mountains
Maybe you can hear them talking like I do
They’re gonna betray you, they’re gonna forget you
Are you gonna let them take you over that way?
Great Southern Land
Great Southern Land
You walk alone
Like a primitive man
And they make it work
With sticks and bones
See their hungry eyes
It’s a hungry home
I hear the sound
Of the strangers’ voices
I see their hungry eyes
Their hungry eyes
Great Southern Land
Great Southern Land
They burned you black
Black against the ground
Standing at the limit of an endless ocean
Stranded like a runaway lost at sea
City on a rainy day down in the harbor
Watching as the gray clouds shadow the bay
Looking everywhere, I had to find you
This is not the way that I remember it here
Anyone will tell you it’s a prisoner island
Hidden in the summer for a million years
Great Southern Land
In the sleeping sun
You walk alone
With the ghost of time
Well, they burned you black
Black against the ground
And they make it work
With rocks and sand
I hear the sound
Of the strangers’ voices
I see their hungry eyes
Their hungry eyes
Great Southern Land
Great Southern Land
You walk alone
Like a primitive man
You walk alone
With the ghost of time
And they burned you black
Yeah, they burned you black
Great Southern Land
Great Southern Land
Great Southern Land

The Sydney Opera House was among a range of landmarks in Australia, to light up in the colours blue, white and red as Australians showed their support for Parisians rocked by terror attacks. In nearly every capital city, there is a showing of solidarity and support with the French people.
In West Melbourne as the sunsets Melbourne Australia is thinking of the people of Paris.
In Brisbane, the Story Bridge was lit up in blue, white and red to show solidarity with the people of France.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the thoughts and prayers of all Queenslanders went out to those affected by the tragedy in Paris.
“We want to show our support to France — even if we are far away, our hearts are there with the French community.
“All together we can fight terrorism, stay united and show that we are not afraid.”
This is the big weekend for V8 Supercar racing in Australia, with the action having started yesterday. But already there has been two crashes that have brought the races to a stop, with the first one yesterday, when Chaz Mostert’s V8 supercar slammed into the wall barriers up on the mountain, taking out a fire Marshall box and injuring five. Both he and one of the marshals had to be airlifted to hospital. Today, in one of the support touring car classes, there was the second crash down Conrad straight, when Damien Flack slid off the road and rolled his car till it disintegrated. Thankfully he was taken to hospital and is said to be okay.
The big race is tomorrow, live on the Ten network Australia.
