My Top Ten Song List – Number 4.

Who could forget the sing along scene in Almost famous, when the band sang this song and there was a sense of unity once more.  Tiny Dancer by Elton John is my pick for my top ten song, number four.  It’s just such a beautiful ballad with Elton’s talent as a piano man showing through.  I do remember though, that there was another version with Tony Danza instead of Tiny Dancer sung instead.  :3

Elton John : Tiny Dancer.

“Tiny Dancer”

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you’ll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she’s in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you’ll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she’s in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

My Top Ten Song List – Number 7.

Right, time for number 7 which happens to be from a man who I think is a musical genius as well as someone that helped pioneer art videos that were unlike anything that had been on MTV before.  This song is one that is so easily to sing along too and I just love it. Combining Art with music…something I can’t get enough of. The stop motion animation provided by Aardman Animations  aka Wallace and Gromit.  Dancing chickens!

Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer.

You could have a steam train
If you’d just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back

All you do is call me
I’ll be anything you need

You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
Oh let me be your sledgehammer
This will be my testimony

Show me round your fruit cages
‘Cause I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruit cages
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
I’m going to be-the sledgehammer
This can be my testimony
I’m your sledgehammer
Let there be no doubt about it

Sledge sledge sledgehammer

I kicked the habit (I kicked the habit)
She’d my skin (Shed my skin)
This is the new stuff (This is the new stuff)
I go dancing in, (We could go dancing in)
Oh won’t you show for me (Show for me)
I will show for you (Show for you)
Show for me (Show for me), I will show for you

Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
Only you, you’ve been coming through
Going to build that power
Build, build up that power, hey
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
Going to feel that power, build in you

Come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
It’s what we’re doing, doing
All day and night, come on and help me do, come on and help me do

My Top Ten Song List – Number 9.

Okay, so you know that my number ten is “Bad Moon rising”, but what is number nine you might ask?  The Monkees were another band that was played a lot in my childhood, as my mum had a huge crush on Davy Jones.

When he died  in February of 2012, I played this song again and was amazed at how well he danced in the clip.  He had groove and I can see why teenage girls adored him.  So my number nine song is “Daydream Believer” by the Monkees.

“Daydream Believer”

Oh, I could hide ‘neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six o’clock alarm would never ring.
But it rings and I rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin’ razor’s cold and it stings.Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

[Instrumental interlude]

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
[Repeat and fade]

Sweet – Fox on the Run.

Sweet’s “Fox on the Run.”

I don’t wanna know your name
‘Cause you don’t look the same
The way you did before

Okay, you think you got a pretty face
But the rest of you is out of place
You looked all right before

Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy on the run, f-foxy
Fox on the run and hide away

You, you talk about just every band
But the names you drop are second hand
I’ve heard it all before

I don’t wanna know your name
‘Cause you don’t look the same
The way you did before

Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy on the run, f-foxy
Fox on the run and hide away

F-foxy, fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy on the run, f-foxy
Fox on the run and hide away

Fox on the run
Fox on the run
Fox on the run
Fox on the run

Things I love – Peanut butter Tim Tams.

Any die hard Australian knows the joy of eating a Tim Tam biscuit.  One of the few pleasures in life, if you ask me.  But of late, Arnotts has come out with some new flavours to our old favorite, and I can’t tell you how much I love the Peanut butter flavored ones.  I happened to be buying petrol at Caltex, when I was going up to pay for my fuel, and saw this packet of Peanut butter Tim tams for only 50 cents.  Normally they are up to $4.00 a packet.  I’d not tried them before, but as a fan of PB, I thought I could spend the 50 cents and find out.

YUM!  That fine layer of peanut butter sauce mixed with filling in the middle made them sweet and reminded me of my mother’s chocolate peanut spider clusters.  (Something I miss terribly.)   I’ve since bought more with my weekly shopping – on special of course, and enjoyed them with my coffee.  One thing that we Aussies love to do is the Tim tam bomb.  To give you a good idea of how we eat them for extra oomph, check out the video below.

Alex Lloyd – Amazing.

Morning guys.  Today’s sing a long song is by an Aussie favorite, Alex Lloyd.  Really hope you enjoy it as much as I do, as Alex is one of my favorite musicians.  This song’s lyrics fill me with hope.

When all you want to do is rock
But you dont want to bear the shock, no more
When its just swell that fills your eyes
Belated feelings that you have denied

When every wolf is at your door
Just like a hundred times before
But you dont want to leave the end

You were amazing
And we did amazing things
And I wouldn’t change it
‘Cause we were amazing things

Rebuilding bridges in your mind
Your eagerness now is on the line
The plastic mountain at your feet
Divided streets now as you look to find a seat

When every wolf is at your door
Just like a hundred times before
But you dont want to see the end

You were amazing
And we did amazing things
And I wouldnt change it
‘Cause we were amazing things

And I really didnt want that push today
No I really didnt want to end this way
But the things that seem to bind us
Are the things we put behind us on this day

You were amazing
And we did amazing things
And I wouldn’t change it
‘Cause we were amazing things

Lindsey Stirling (Ven Tribe) – We Found Love.

Since it’s Boxing day here, I am sharing my favorite songs with you all, and this one is one of the best. Lindsey Stirling’s “We Found Love.”  I really hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Now we’re standing side by side
What it takes to come alive
It’s the way i’m feeling i just can’t deny
Got to let it go

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Shine a light through an open door
Love and life, i will divide
Turn away cause i need you more
Feel the heart beat in my mind

It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
But I’ve got to let it go

We found love in a holy new place
(Mapenzi, Mapenzi yeah)

We found love in a whole new place
(Mapenzi, Mapenzi yeah)

We found love in a whole new place
We found love in a whole new place
We found love in a whole new place
We found love in a whole new place

(oh wey oh, oh wey oh)
We found love (oh wey oh wey oh)
(oh wey oh, oh wey oh)
We found love (oh wey oh wey oh)

… Mapenzi we
(Mapenzi, Mapenzi yeah)
… Mapenzi we
(Mapenzi, Mapenzi yeah)
… Mapenzi we
(Mapenzi, Mapenzi yeah)

The Police – Can’t stand losing

This week’s pick for my favorite song in the car is by the Police.  A 70’s classic with a real reggae sound to it.  Boy, it’s great for singing along too.

I’ve called you so many times today
And I guess it’s all true what your girl-friends say
That you don’t ever want to see me again
And your brother’s gonna kill me and he’s six feet ten

I guess you’d call it cowardice
But I’m not prepared to go on like this

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t, stand losing you
I can’t

I can’t stand losing you
I can’t stand losing you
I can’t stand losing you

I see you sent my letters back
And my L.P. records and they’re all scratched
I can’t see the point in another day
When nobody listens to a word I say

You can call it lack of confidence
But to carry on living doesn’t make no sense

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I guess this is our last goodbye
And you don’t care, so I won’t cry
And you’ll be sorry when I’m dead
And all this guilt will be on your head

I guess you’d call it suicide
But I’m too full to swallow my pride

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand
Can’t stand losing you
