Darkness to his words – The Sloth Kingdom : PD

The time piece was causing all sorts of dramas, in all the Kingdoms – including Sloth.  Here we introduce the Prince of Sloth himself, who has some unannounced visitors.

Kingdom of Hell- Sloth

This is the Kingdom of Sloth. It is not the grandest of the domains within hell, but it still exudes a certain allure to the city as most of the Princes’ kingdoms did. The Kingdom of Sloth has been closed off for years, none are sure why, but now its gates have opened once more. What shall escape from them? Guess you’ll have to come and see.

https://i0.wp.com/oi59.tinypic.com/9qldap.jpg

A grand barren wasteland dominated the area. There was no sign of life, and nothing moved. It was as if everything in the area slept, which was not far from the truth. The area was under the influence of a heavy aura that seemed to spread through the ground, causing everything to become slow, lethargic, and lazy….. That was until the ground began to quake, and break open.

A massive gorge opened up in the ground, the rocks of the land falling into the endless pit of darkness. It was unsure what was happening, but it soon became clear as a massive kingdom erupted from the ground as though it were propelled by a rocket the size of the moon. The walls were ancient, the lights dim, and it seemed as though it had not seen the light of day in many centuries. It was somewhat of a sad looking kingdom. However there was a certain power to it as well. Many would wonder how to get to the kingdom as the gorge still had a presence. It stood between the rest of the world, and the kingdom’s massive walls. From the edge of the kingdom poured huge amounts of water, like a bowl draining its contents.

Then it was heard. A massive burst of sound that many would mistake as a roar. It blasted all around the kingdom, waking the creatures that thrived within. They began to pour from the homes, and buildings, filling the streets with their mass. Each of them carrying a different appearance, though there did seem to be certain groupings of them. The most common form was a slug-like being that was covered in a dark hood, with no mouth. Their bodies seemed to be made of magma, and they moved slowly through the streets.

Other variations did exist, and made themselves known, but we shall leave them for a later date.

All those connected to this kingdom would feel a deep shudder in their bones as the power of Sloth returned to the plains of hell. Even the other princes would be able to feel the return of their long dormant sibling. If Sloth was awakening then there had to be a cause, something that interested him enough that he wished to be among the world once more.

From deep withing the kingdom, at the highest point of the castle was the bedroom of the Arch-demon Sloth, but he preferred to go by Tazuya. He slowly was waking from his sleep, his medium length black hair sticking up everywhere from his rest. He was know to gain a bad case of bed-head after one of his infamous “naps”. The roar that had been heard from the kingdom had in fact just been one of the prince’s yawns.

He slowly turned his body, and allowed his feet to move towards the ground, but as soon as his skin came in contact with the cold tile of the floor, a chill ran up his entire body, and he snatched his feet back onto the bed. He quickly crossed his legs, and began rubbing his feet.

“Ah! Too cold, too cold, too cold!”

He continued to repeat this to himself until his bare feet were sufficiently warm once more. From where he sat his amethyst eyes caught sight of a pair of thick black socks on a table that was only feet away from his perch, but between him and the warmth of the socks were three steps of ice-cold tile. Without a word though he sighed, and at the sound a female demon pushed into the room. She had short purple hair, and horns. She was wearing a set of casual clothes that let a pair of large purple wings expose themselves to the world. Though it was odd because she wore an eye-patch over one of her eyes.

https://i1.wp.com/fc04.deviantart.net/fs27/f/2008/159/4/9/Demoness_by_kamifish.jpg

Tazuya thought that he recognized the girl, but he was more focused on getting the socks from the table.

“You called lord?”

The girl had asked a simple question. Her voice was small, young, and seemingly innocent. How was it she had come here? The lord of Sloth could hardly be bothered to retrieve the memory though.

“I need those socks.”

It was a simple request to the girl. One easily accomplished, but then why was the girl hesitating as she was. Tazuya could not think of a reason…. That was until another demon appeared in his room. He was simple as well. He had a pair of fox ears upon the top of his head, and a silver tail swishing out behind him. Tazuya knew this male as well, but still could not work up the enthusiasm to remember a name, or how he even came to be within his kingdom.

https://i1.wp.com/dreamworlds.ru/uploads/posts/2008-08/1218628235_normal_sexy_neko_guy.jpg

As soon as the male had entered the room he had covered his nose, and made a sound of absolute disgust. It seemed as though he had an advanced sense of smell.

“GAH!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT RETCHED SMELL?!”

He shouted this though his hands that now covered his mouth, and nose. His eyes were watering, and the hair on his head and tail was standing on edge. Tazuya sniffed the air, and shrugged.

“I don’t smell anything.”

He was a simple man, and did not say more than was really needed very often. It was his voice that gave weight to his words. It was calm, yes, but there was also something behind his words that gave a powerful darkness to his words, making those below him quiver in fear. Though it was rare that Tazuya would ever raise a hand to anyone. Mostly due to the effort it required to do so.

“Damn it! Are you really THAT lazy, that you cant even clean this damn room?!”

The male yelled again, and only moments after he had spoke a dark realization fell over his face as he reviewed what he had just said. The entire room was quiet, it seemed as though the entire KINGDOM had fallen silent at the words of the man. It was as though everyone was having a moment of silence for a fallen companion.

“Wh- What was that you just said?”

Tazuya’s eyes had become covered in shadows that came from his hair, and a demonic energy had begun to rise from around his body. There were very few things that could make the Prince of Sloth lose his temper, but calling him lazy was a fatal mistake that a person was only prone to make once in their life-time. Their last mistake.

“My lord forgi-”

The male was cut off as Tazuya’s feet tapped onto the cold tile of his room. This couldn’t be good. Only moments before he wouldn’t even touch the floor to grab a pair of socks. before the male knew what had happened, he felt the heavy fist of Tazuya slam into the roof of his head. It was a small burst, but Sloth had put every ounce of his strength into this single strike. It was faster than a blink, and louder than a gunshot. The male’s head exploded like a watermelon, and his body crashed through the floor. It continued to break through the floors below until it hit the solid ground of the infrastructure at the base of the castle. Even then there was a massive crater where his body had hit. The bones of the male had turned to dust, and his limbs were strewn in all different, and odd directions as though they had been forced a way they were not supposed to go. Other than that though the body itself was intact. Bleeding, and destroyed forever….. But intact.

Tazuya then returned his attention to the female. His purple eyes seemed as they did before now, and he was slouched forward, his natural bad posture. Even still though he towered over the girl.

“My socks please.”

He said to her, his voice now radiating the darkness that normally hid behind his tone. For a moment the girl was stuck in the same spot, frozen by the fear that she might be next to be crushed into oblivion, but this same fear helped kick start her. She quickly rushed over, grabbed his socks, and handed them to him. In the next instant he jumped back on the bed, eliciting a groan from the structure. Though it was the castle that groaned, and not just the bed. He seemed to weigh much more than it seemed. He quickly pulled his socks on, and then pulled his black boots on over them.

“Thank you.”

He was polite if nothing else, but the girl still feared for her life. Once she was sure she was out of harms way she fled the room, the fear still ravaging her mind as she ran. Meanwhile, Tazuya was pulling his black hoodie on over his head, allowing the hood to remain rested upon his head.

“Guess its time we open the gates.”

He sighed again after speaking, and before he knew it the gates at the front of the kingdom swung open. The gates were massive, heavy, and were built to allow Tazuya’s true form to be able to pass through it. So it took half the city to pull them inward, allowing the light of a new day to enter the gates. Any who wished it could enter now. There were no guards at the gates to stop them, and the demons of the city would not interfere. For they shared their Lord’s enthusiasm. That is to say they couldn’t be bothered with the job, and Sloth was not inclined to put forth the effort to make them. So the question lingered in Tazuya’s mind: Who was to visit his reopened home first.

In the moments between Tazuya touching the ground till he attempted to punch the male, there was a sudden high pitched giggle and in the next moment a blur as the male was snatched to one side away from the punch, still causing the floor to be completely obliterated from the mere force of his strength itself; however, the male was left unharmed, shaky and pale, but unharmed indeed with the collar of his shirt in the hand of a very short, delicate looking girl. She’d been watching closely, extremely closely with an intensity she rarely showed for anyone else, so it was obvious who she was in all honesty as she made each little motion seem perky, bubbly and overly annoying to an extreme level just so show off the fact she was so hyper; yet even as she spoke there was something about her tone that showed she wasn’t playing around today.

Hikari: “Now now Tazuya, you shouldn’t go killing everyone… It’s not nice~”

Male: “Th-thank you…”

Hikari giggled once more before finally actually looking at the male with a gaze that seemed kind, and inspired hope in him… for a moment, then came the fact that without warning he started feeling his soul being absorbed into her without warning; his true form as a Kitsune was being revealed as she did, but this didn’t change the fact that he was losing his soul and his body was left a lifeless puppet that blinked with dull, flat eyes.

Hikari: “A good body is a good body after all…”

And there it was… seems like Hikari somehow had that effect of being a slight sadist, but in reality she tried to keep a store of bodies, never know when you might need a shell to place a soul in after all; Hikari never knew when it might come in handy and therefore was always trying to stay prepared… would this come to merit soon?

Matt:Tazuya had already become calm by the time that he realized that the male had not, in fact, been under his harsh blow. His demonic presence was also returning to the normal level that it tended to maintain. Without even hearing or seeing what had happened, Tazuya already knew who had just arrived.

“Hikari. You know it is rude to interrupt people larger than you.”

It was a simple tease at the girl about her height, or lack of. This was how they tended to interact with one another, but there was no harshness in his words. Then his eyes fell upon the male at her side. The prince did not fully know about her store of bodies, but he always had an idea of what happened to those that she drained of their souls. He just never put forth the effort to figure it all out. Then it struck him. He quickly turned, and looked down into the massive hole that he had created in the ground.

“If he is there….”

As he peered into the hole he saw the crushed remains of the body in the hole.

“Then who is that?”

He asked more to himself, but it quickly left his mind as he returned to look at his small friend. It had been ages since he had seen her. Sleeping for as long as he did had negative effects as well. Luckily though she did not look any older than before, and was still just as short. As if to emphasize this to himself he placed his large open palm against the top of her head with a grin on his face.

“Ah. Everything is as it should be.”

He mused to himself with a large chuckle.

We all know now that everything was topsy turvy and simply crazy. The turning of the time piece had thrown everything out of whack and one of the things affected by this was just where would Katrina and Grey end up after she hastily teleported the pair away from the Witches circle. As much as she loved her dear Lavinia, being thrown out of the circle in a fit of rage by the Elder and hearing the whispers of her Mistress had meant that the cat simply couldn’t stay there. Directed by the voice to take the strange man with her, she had clasped his hand and allowed her power to channel her to a place whereby they might find a necromancer to undo what had been done. That was the plan….but not all plans go so smoothly.

Out of thin air, the pair landed, with Katrina crashing to the ground first with a god awful thump. Re entry was not exactly her strong suit. Not to mention she looked like Hell. Her hair was everywhere, and she was still smoldering a little from Lavinia’s attack. Dazed and with a really sore bottom, she tried to get up to stand but found for some reason that the environment was making her sleepy. Was this a magical thing, or….was she simply out of power in this strange place. Katrina didn’t recognize any of it. She blinked repeatedly, then rubbed her eyes with her little fists. From the fry pan and into the fire. Could this place be worse than where they had come from? It was starting to appear that way.

https://i0.wp.com/i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h377/mattyhoward/batmanreturns_goodgirls.gif

Seeing the form of the man she had brought with her, she started to crawl over on the ground and tapped his back a couple of times, but each time she was getting slower…and slower. Her head was bobbing as though she was nodding off.

“We’re…..here….I…just…zzzzzzz…Eep!…I don’t…zzzzzz….know where….zzzzzzZZZZZ….EEP! Wake up..wake up Kat!” Kat tried to smack her own face to stop the feeling of sleepiness, till she stopped mid slap and collapsed on top of Grey.

Kingdom of Hell- Sloth
This situation couldn’t have been worst, not only he most likely would be unable to visit a single bar at the kingdom of gluttony but also now he would need to avoid the witches circle for a long while, something that did not made him happy because the fact that the place was the witches territory made it a perfect neutral ground for meeting of all kinds, but no…he had to blow it just because that Prince couldn’t just go eat a big breasted maid or something…no…he had to follow that girl, the very same who pretty much entered his body and pretty much violated any sort of physical, metal or spiritual privacy he had…well…he did not had physical privacy and he did not really had a soul but still! It was rape in some twisted way, but at least he still had the control…at least things couldn’t get worst right?

Son of a moog-!!

He yelled out a half finished insult, one that ended as soon as his face met the cold ground and leave the mark of his face on it. It hurt him, made him recall the first time somebody forced his face on the ground and sadly that might have opened the gates for certain memories that he preferred to keep hidden from the invader inside his body…in the end him basically wearing a preacher’s clothes, holding a book considered holy and going around doing good, not to mention things like celibacy, were things that he did not wanted her to know…in the end if anybody found out he technically was a priest he would become the laughing stock at bars. The idea would have made him blow off, but strangely enough the air itself here felt heavy just as his bones…and it seemed like he wasn’t the only one

Yeah I know we are- wait…what’s with you?

The aura around this place was having a harder time to affect the undead, something he needed to thank his chaos for but that did not meant it had no effect. His body felt like it weighted a ton, but he still had enough reflexes and brain power to put together that something was up with this place…suspicion confirmed as soon as the other female there on top of him. Out of mere reflex Grey caught her, shaking her a bit as he frowned and sighed out. Yeah…his day was getting greater and greater…

Go get the girl they said…it will be fun they said…you will pay your debts they said…and now I’m with shit all the way to my neck

Jobs never came as expected, but one thing was something going off during a job and be forced into an unexpected fight or to retreat and another was to end up a witch asleep on top of him, an spirit pretty much inside of him, and being stuck in a land that seemed to be draining him off by the minute. The worst part of this? He could lay a finger on the witch no matter her looks that he actually did not found so bad…nope…she saved him, the spirit was there to witness everything, he couldn’t blame any actions in him being drunk, and worst of all…she was a witch, he refused to lay a finger upon one in an indecent way again, at least not after what he saw

Why can’t I get stuck in a closet with a succubus again?…is it so much to ask?…

He sighed deeply, his eyebrows furrowing as he started to feel how his limbs felt like they began to weight more than usual. They had to get a move on, where? who knew…but they had to. So Grey basically cursing all along the way somehow forced himself to his feet, feeling as if they were made of concrete as he raised the female, Kat, in his arms, panting sightly in the process. By now he blessed his resistance to this type of things, or else he would have ended up literally sleeping cuddled to the witch for who knows how long. But if he did not wanted to fall asleep he needed something, conversation…anything…

I guess you don’t know where your friend brought us…do you ghost rapist?…

Ruby – Part Four : SS.

Ruby was just getting used to Valmont’s company at the Embassy, but found the newer arrivals; the Ambassador’s staff – a bit much to handle.

Scene setting – The Embassy of Hell.

Co-written with Tsu, Zu and Kiri.

Tsu:  It was rather quiet for a moment, of course he knew why. Only two of them could speak right now and the other couldn’t, he wondered how life would be not being able to speak. It’ll surely be a burden or something tedious, though he already had something like that. He could probably somehow related and she didn’t know at least, hearing his words a small blush would come to his cheeks, only for a moment, vanishing shortly after. ” You’re right, I’ll make sure we get a board for her, it’ll be very convenient for the most part.” Nicholas watched Valmont go to the girl and kneel down to look at her, something forming in his stomach. Oh how he hated that feeling and ignored it, his eyes observing and also realizing the weapon she carried. Maybe she was a swordsman? or a warrior? You’d never know about somehow just by their looks and how they acted.

” Aa, I’ll go on ahead then, to prepare the stuff. I’ll make sure that everything is ready, if you both come.” With that said, he turned on his heels and walked away, a little quicker then he wanted too. Hopefully it would go unnoticed but, not a lot got passed Valmont. Walking back inside he shut the door with a click and let out a little sigh, this was rather annoying. Looking down at the ground he cursed himself and his genetics, maybe it could somehow be altered but, he didn’t know. Many thoughts swept through his mind on whether he wanted to actually be a full male or switch and be completely a female. Nicholas shook his head a bit and composed himself, standing up and walking he went on his marry way to do the preparations.

Zu:  Ruby was so amazing by something so simple as the cloth and what was on it. This was a once in a lifetime kind of thing, and she was playing with it to it’s fullest potential. Ruby heard someone near her, and turned to see it was Valmont, who was doing something odd; kneeling. She just looked at him for a bit then took his hand, getting off her chair and looking up at him with the most innocent look on her face. The kind of face that was lost in a dark place but was still optimistic about her surroundings. Ruby would do anything for this man, the one who paid attention to her and gave her a place to stay. Wherever they would go, Ruby get she’d enjoy it. That thought that passed her by earlier, it began to nag her again but she didn’t pay it any mind.

Razorbackwriter:  ~The House of Thrones~

For some strange reason, the Ambassador had a way of getting through to Ruby. Looks could be deceiving but actions spoke louder than words ever could and Valmont was genuinely pleased that she accepted the offer to go inside the grand estate. The building itself was a monument to those that had served Hell and its seven Kingdoms since the dawn of time. All those that had been elected to act as the Devil’s advocate held that position with the knowledge that though they did not weld power like those of the Seven Princes of Sin, they were able to pass through each kingdom on the simple fact of the neutrality. Never siding with one Kingdom over the other. It was not his job to. When disagreements and wars broke out as they so commonly did, Valmont and his entourage would go from Kingdom to Kingdom and help seek to restore order and the status quo.

Two elegantly dressed footmen opened the grand doors to the entrance, where the pair would find themselves entering the foyer of the Embassy. Adorned on the walls, were the seven shields of sin. Each one representing the main Kingdoms. The Princes knew that they were welcomed as equals and that if there was a dispute, or a crime had been committed, Valmont would allow refuge to those that may be sought for execution, until such time that all legal processes were exhausted and the guilty was handed over for punishment. This meant that there were often many that came to the Embassy. Hat in hand and with a tale to tell. It never ended. For you see, each sin had its weakness. Just as they were powerful. Some were corrupt and could only think about bringing down others, or trying to bolster their own kingdoms with a take over.

In a special chamber off to the right of the foyer was the Thrones of the Seven. The meeting place of all the Princes, should they be so bold to actually stand being in the same room as the other. It was no secret there was no love lost between a few of them. Not to mention the fact that the last Prince of Envy was murdered, and the Prince of Greed….well, we all know what happened to him. That room was guarded by two fierce looking warriors that stood over seven feet in height and both wore armor that was to a specific guild with an unknown name.

To Ruby this may all look ostentatious and over the top. To outsiders they may well think the same, but the purpose of the Embassy was mainly to the Royals and their subjects. Essentially, the UN of Hell.

Knowing Nicholas had gone on ahead to fetch the string tied chalkboard for Ruby to use, to start her lessons in communication, this gave Valmont more time with the girl. It was not going to be easy to teach her speech, that was something the Ambassador was well aware of.

One servant girl, that had come from the Kingdom of Lust originally, stepped out of the shadows and simpered over to the Ambassador, flaunting her ample bosom practically in his face. The scent of her skin that had been bathed in exotic oils and it was indeed pleasant to the senses. For a moment Valmont forgot himself and closed his eyes just to savor the sweet smell.

https://i2.wp.com/st.elohell.net/public/chill/07f253a94a24c71a4a5a3099e4af133a.jpg

“Is there anything you see that pleases you, Ambassador?” she asked with a wicked gleam in her eyes. The girl was indeed tempting to Valmont’s dark urges. He coughed as he brought out a hankerchief and fought back hard to maintain some dignity in front of Ruby.

“No…no, thank you. I err…am waiting on the secretary.” Who Valmont hoped would be soon. What would the hooded Ruby think of this. Hopefully she wouldn’t think that all women in the Embassy were so forward.

“Nicholas?!” Valmont sung out.

Zachary gave out a sigh, actually beginning to get aggravated by the paperwork that was swamping him. As the Chief Adviser of the “House of Thrones” he always had something he needed to do. It hadn’t been long ago that he’d felt a change in the more immediate levels of energy around the Embassy, in fact it seemed to him that Valmont had returned. Valmont was one of the few people who knew just what Zachary was, and also one of the few who was able to call him Zach. Zachary’s katana was lain against the wall behind him, mainly so that it wouldn’t be in the way while he was working and so that it wouldn’t be too far if he needed. Though the later was indeed unlikely. It was honestly the usual lately, complaints about land-disputes, lawsuits of all kinds. It was like the people expected this Embassy to do their jobs for them. It was exhausting. With an exasperated groan Zachary pushed his chair away from the desk and stood, picking up the katana and its case as he slung it over his shoulder. The case was more as a way to help control the feeling of intimidation caring around a sword all the time could cause. Zachary needed a break, and going outside was just the way to do it. The male got outside fairly quickly anyway, and made his decision to go up to Valmont himself. However, Zachary’s right eye twitched as he began to get close, noticing a servant being extremely . . . forward based on what Zachary could tell. In front of a guest no less. From what Zachary could recall, the young girl had come from the Kingdom of Lust. Why does this not surprise him. Though Valmont had called for Nicholas, Zachary was instead the one to answer, starting with the serving girl in a . . . less forward manner.

Zachary approached behind the girl, standing there silently a moment before speaking just loud enough that all three parties would hear, for it seemed that Valmont had a special guest. The serving girl jumped, noticeably so, from the sound of Zachary and spun as he did so. In his sweetest voice no less.

“My dear, Would you be so kind as to move along? If I can recall correctly, your work is not entirely finished.”

Of course, the young girl didn’t seem very flustered, but Zachary could sense the changes in a person’s energy, and that was enough for him to be able to tell he had embarrassed her. Good, perhaps it would teach her to have better control over herself. From here, Zachary looked down to Valmont and gave a bow of his head, both to the Ambassador and his Guest.

“Good evening, Lord Valmont, Lady..?”

Zachary had seen the stitches earlier, and therefore he tried to avoid being rude and asked Valmont the question instead. However there was a chance . . . that not even Valmont knew. Based on the energies he’d seen from the young girl, she definitely wasn’t normal – but then again he couldn’t say he was either. She found a lot of things to be new, at least from what he could see and feel. Whatever the case was, Zachary was interested in learning about this girl. And his eyes showed it.

Tsu:  Silently he moved around in his office, trying to find the items necessary. It’d be rather hard to teach, if he hadn’t found the board and stuff. It would of been easier if his body hadn’t been bothering him, slowly he stopped and set both his hands on his desk. Looking down at the floor, he let out a small sigh and breathed in and out. ” Stupid hormones, stupid body, hopefully it’ll settle down.” He said and knew that he was the only one in his office or around the area, he had nothing to worry about someone hearing. After a couple of minutes he came across the chalk board and chalk, lovely he thought. Picking it up and holding it, he composed himself once more and walked out of the room. A minute later he had bumped into a chef, as he smiled a bit. ” Please make sure lunch is started shortly, we have roughly.. 3, no.. 4 people including me here now.” He had said as the guy went on his way nodding, it would be good to relax and eat shortly after.

Nicholas?! Echoed through the halls as he knew it was Valmont, he had forgot about time. Rather quickly, he walked and it was faster then a human walk. Nicholas was of like a snake, fast on his feet and hearing, it really helped at times. Coming to a slow walk he realized that the presence he felt was Zachary, he had probably come back. Hearing him talk, he came up on the side and walked over to Valmont, handing the items. ” Sorry about the wait, I had to prepare some things in advance but, I bring the bored and chalk.” His eyes scanning over to Zachary. ” Hello Zachary. “ Nicholas said and let his eyes return to Ruby and Valmont, he made sure not to stare so long at some people, it’d make him paranoid that they somehow found out about him or were going to.

Zu:  It was amazing to Ruby of all the stuff that was owned exclusively by Valmont, it was nothing she’d ever think to see and be around at the same time. She’d take it all in, like a child going to the museum for the first time. Suddenly, a woman came to them and Ruby, while scared at the sudden interruption, according to her, she didn’t reach for her weapon. It seemed Ruby was getting slightly, yet slowly, more comfortable with her surroundings. She listened to the woman and turned to Valmont, who was acting wierd around her. Ruby didn’t realize what it was, but it might have been that Valmont smelled her, and thought it was a horrible smell: Ruby liked it.

It wasn’t until Zachary came so instantly that Ruby almost pulled out her scythe, he just came out of nowhere. She quickly turned her head to see, and seeing as he was friendly, just looked at him in the most innocent way possible. This whole time, she forgot to put her hood up and surprisingly enough, wasn’t thinking about it. So everyone would be able to see her faults. That didn’t last long though, as Nicholas came back too. So many people, all of whom worked for Valmont. Was Valmont trying to get Ruby to meet with everyone at once? It was all a bit much. She tugged on her sleeve, and looked at him with those eyes that said I wanna get outta here.

Razorbackwriter:  Valmont was indeed lucky at the quick thinking of his most trusted, Zachary. Noble and astute he arrived in the nick of time as the servant from the Lust Kingdom was trying it on, as only a creature from that domain would. Valmont’s face showed he was now more at ease, when the girl was given directives and more or less told to go on her way. If it was one thing that Valmont often had the urge to conquer it was women. Considering his current charge and the attentions she required, having a pretty distraction just wouldn’t do. With the maiden now off to complete her tasks, Zachary was able to do a more formal introduction.

“Good evening, Lord Valmont, Lady..?”

“Ah…Zachary, and a Good evening to you. This is Lady Ruby. We don’t know her true name but suffice to say, that the name Ruby seems fitting, and she doesn’t mind.”

It was then that Nicholas showed up, and with the requested items – the chalk board with string and the chalk. Both of which were to be very handy to help with the girl’s lessons in communication. Something she was not really able to do. Taking the board and chalk from Nicholas, Valmont thanked him with a warm smile. “Perfect timing, and no harm in the wait.”

Valmont was about to offer them to Ruby, when he felt the slight tug on his sleeve. Looking down to only see a slightly distressed look on Ruby’s face. Had something upset her, or was she intimidated by all the sudden attention. He did recall that she looked so lost and alone at the Isolated cliff face, and it took a bit to get her trust. Now, he gathered that this was all too much at once for the girl to handle.

Offering Nicholas and Zachary a firm nod each, he then made a suggestion that might calm the situation.

“I’m going to take Lady Ruby for a small tour of the training room. May I suggest gentlemen that you work on a list for an upcoming meeting of the Heads of the Kingdoms. I dare say that there is going to be some dramas after all that has gone on after the Greed ball. Official notices to all Princes…and er…Princesses to attend. Say…a Saturday.”

Having given instructions, Valmont offered his arm to Ruby to take her on a walk to the training room – that was equipped with the very best and latest in sword fighting equipment and armor.

~RB~

Kiri: Zachary nodded at Valmont with a smile, he could understand that Ruby was overwhelmed. Based on her energy signature at the moment, that was pretty obvious for the male. Instead of offering to help in a different way, he instead went with Valmont’s suggestion. It wasn’t a bad idea anyway, hopefully they could avoid another war. Though he highly doubted that much at all. The ball hadn’t gone very well from what he heard, and that meant things could go badly in terms of connections between all the princes and princesses. In all honesty, Zachary preferred that the peace stayed sound, no matter how tense. But, you couldn’t always have your way. That was the sad truth of the world.

“Of course Lord Valmont. Lady Ruby, I do hope you do enjoy your stay. Good morning Nicholas. Shall we?”

Zachary turned around on his heel, walking back towards the embassy once more, hopefully with Nicholas on his heels. The young serpent seemed to have something troubling him, and though Nicholas didn’t know it, Zachary could tell because of his ability to see and sense different kinds of energy. Zachary kept his race hidden from most, and one of the few exceptions was Valmont. Nicholas was not one of those however. Not yet anyway. That could change. Zachary didn’t waste time to go back to his study, mainly to begin drawing up the paperwork to start sending off the letters. This was going to take time, and he’d need the help of Nicholas.

“Since this will take some time, Nicholas. Would you mind helping me?”

They were close to Zachary’s study now, so it was up to Nicholas if he would help or not. Not that it’d be of any harmful consequence should he not.

Tsu:  Nicholas had gave a smile back as he took the bored. He could easily see distress from Ruby and knew why. Of course he too would be overwhelmed if he started meeting a bunch of new people all at the same time. Hearing Valmont talk about going to the training the training room, he smiled a bit. ” Aa, everything is set in their by the way.” He called after as Valmont and Ruby left him and Zachary. He was still nervous, their were things he didn’t know about people and something seemed slightly off about him but, he wouldn’t push. ” Good morning to you too Zachary.”

Seeing him walk, he followed after him staring at his back. What was he? That pondered if mind a bit but, shrugged the thought off. Nicholas wasn’t exactly close with all the staff members but, he knew all of them since he did live here and we’ll, part of his job was to know them. A small sigh slipped from his lips as he heard Zachary talking to him and looked at him. ” Of course, I’d love to help. Plus, Valmont asked us both so.. I’ll help regardless. “ He said with a smile and relaxed himself a bit, he needed to calm down, nothing was going to be found out and with that thought he relaxed completely.

Ruby – Part Three : SS.

Residence and offices of Valmont, the Ambassador of the Seven Kingdoms.

The Embassy of Hell

Tall and imposing gates with spiked tips awaited Valmont and his new friend, as they had come back down the path of souls to the Embassy of Hell. Towered peaks were seen high above the tree line, and there was an air of wonder about the imposing sight that lay before them. The gates started to open of their own accord, with Valmont not even having to lift a finger as he strolled along with Ruby. To anyone else, they would think that the Ambassador had done very well for himself in Hell. In the past he had brokered deals between the kingdoms and helped settle disputes, before it all turned to bloodshed and battles. Sadly, he had not managed to quell Mammon’s appetite for getting his hands on other kingdoms, and in particular trying to unseat Gabriel from her new position as Princess of Wrath. Valmont had yet to see Gabriel, but had heard of the curse that Mammon had imposed shortly before taking his last breath. He did not value a woman to take the role of one of the seven heads of hell, and in a way by leaving her with a dick, he would get a dying wish come true. None of that mattered now, of course. No doubt Gabriel would be seeing to have the thing removed. One way or another. It was bound to be the talk of the town, sooner or later. Valmont was in no real hurry to find this out.

As the pair strolled up the drive, Valmont would spot a dinner table all laid out and adorned with candles. Wine chilling in a bucket on a stand and plates all ready to be filled with a sumptuous meal. Someone was expecting his return, but who?

“Hungry?” Valmont asked of Ruby, before realizing that the girl’s crude stitching might stop her from partaking in a meal.“Err…sorry.”

A slight hint of red shade appeared to his cheeks, but he offered to walk Ruby towards the table, and see just who was expecting them.

Zu:

Ruby had never once explored many places since her arrival here in Hell, but she had a feeling she’d see places like this one more often than she ever thought possible. It was a really big embassy, but Ruby thought of it more of a palace or castle. She wouldn’t be able to remember where she saw something like this before; it was in her past, something locked away from her memory thanks to this curse of hers. She still clung to his arm, that way she wouldn’t lose her one and only friend. Ruby wouldn’t know what to do with herself. She hasn’t realized it yet, but she’d become more and more dependence on him, losing her own independence; it was all due to his kindness.

Ruby was lead to the dinner table, something also unfamiliar to her. The only time she rested was on the harsh ground in Hell. When asked if she was hungry, she wasn’t even listening because she was too busy staring in awe at the dinner table. She had taken off her hood, thinking nobody would be around them for a bit and it’d be more comfortable for her, now that she was accepted. Ruby took her seat, yet it didn’t feel right. She got off it and then sat back down, continuing this process until after doing it five more times, took her seat.

Razorbackwriter:  It is customary for a gentleman to hold the chair out and then slide it into position as the female guest takes a seat. Oddly enough, Ruby was having a bit of trouble. Perhaps this was all a bit much for her to take in. A dinner table out in the gardens of the grand estate. Valmont knew nothing but this type of lifestyle, and had hoped that Ruby would grow to like it. Valmont watched as Ruby sat down, then got off….then sat down, then got off. The Ambassador kept trying to move the seat forward, but each time he did, the girl kept hopping up. Valmont showed a perplexed expression till finally Ruby settled in her seat at last.

“That’s the ticket.” Valmont now pleased that he could take his seat at the table.

Soon a line of servants came trickling out of the main building. bringing with them various trays that were each packed with all manners of exotic food. From stuffed pheasant, to wild boar with an apple in it’s mouth. Vegetables with butter that were steaming as the trays were lifted off and then placed on the table neatly. It was enough to make the mouth water, and the taste buds tingle in anticipation. One servant started to pour red wine for Valmont, and he took up the glass, swirling it and inhaling its fine scent.

https://jobmob.co.il/images/articles/objects/waiter.jpg

“Mmm full bodied. Good year too.” This was said after he took a mouthful and swished it about in his mouth, making a strange sucking sound. “Very good. More please.” The waiter filled his glass, then made his way over to the girl and started to fill her glass. Valmont leaned side on so he could see his way around the waiter and whispered.

“Need a straw?”

A door opened and steam came out from it, a male walked out from it. His hair was down and a towel wrapped around his waist, walking over he spied out the window from the side. Noticing he had returned with a guest, he’d better dress and go down. Nicholas walked away and pulled out his cloths that he wore, consisting of a white shirt, with a blue jacket and long black pants. Standing in front of a mirror, the towel dropped from his waist, he looked like a male, with girlish features but, it wasn’t just that. His whole lower half was of a female, he hid this very well most the time. A small sigh escaped his lips as he dressed himself and looked in the mirror, everything looked neat and tidy, just like he liked it. Bringing a towel up to his head, he dried his hair and then did a simple braid on the side. You’d wonder why a male would braid his hair but, he did it for not wanting to to hang down and because of the hormones of wanting to look like a girl, in a way. Sliding his shoes on, he opened his bedroom door and walked out, after making sure everything was folded and put away.

Nicholas walked down the stairs, descending down them to the side door. Opening he walked out and breathed in the cool air, it was indeed nice with the warmth. He continued on walking down a path way and came into view of where he saw both the people, finally stopping by them. ” Welcome back Valmont, I see you guys are enjoying the set up.” a deep but, light voice had said, his head looking over towards the girl. ” I see you brought a guest. I do hope you enjoy your stay and meal Miss.” He said finally and stood there looking back towards Valmont. ” Everything is done and filed, so I think nothing is left to be done.. for now at least. Is there anything else you’d like to be done?” Nicholas asked him and waited for a response.

Zu:  All Ruby could do was stare at the very thing she was oblivous to. She couldn’t remember the last time she had anything related to food. She’s seen it since beginning her life in hell, but never experianced it. Ruby would try to remember if she ever had something called food, but nothing came up. She had her hood up, thankfully, and made sure of it, because just as she had promised herself, only Valmont could see her face, as he gave her the time of day to even associate himself with the likes of her. Ruby could only stare at the glass that shouldn’t belong to her, being poored in front of her. When asked if she needed a straw, she could only stare at the glass. Ruby didn’t really want anything, even if she could, but that mattered not because the glass seemed far too interesting to her than Valmont at the moment.

Just as she was about to look at Valmont once again, she heard another voice and almost jumped out her skin in fright, about to pull out her blade as her instincts would have her do, but she fought against that and turned to see a female talking to Valmont. She couldn’t tell it was a male, even with the voice, as the body was of a female. She just looked at Nicholas blankly, her face still covering her features. Ruby would continue to stare before looking back at the table.

Razorbackwriter:  ” Welcome back Valmont, I see you guys are enjoying the set up.”

There was no mistaking the voice of Valmont’s secretary; Nicholas, who had just strolled out into the garden dinner setting. Welcoming back the Ambassador and of course, his guest. Valmont set down a napkin he was about to lay over his lap and rose to standing at Nicholas’s arrival, offering a light now, before gesturing a gloved hand towards Ruby. His guest had been studying the wine glass in detail and at no time made a move to actually attempt to drink from it. Perhaps food and drink were not her thing. Still Valmont had his manners, and could only smile when Nicholas hoped the girl would enjoy her stay.

“Charming as ever, my good friend. I would like to introduce….well, I am not sure of her name for she is unable to communicate. Let us call her…” Valmont took in the color of her cape and then chimed a pet name. “Ruby” It was a name that was not only easy to remember, but quite feminine. The ambassador paused, and listened to Nicholas ask if there was anything else that needed to be done, as all the filing was up to date. Valmont offered Nicholas a seat at the table, before he himself sat down.

“I am sure you are aware that the Greed Kingdom was putting on a ball this evening. Course, it ended in disaster before it had truly begun.” Valmont pressed his hands together just below his chin. How did he know this? Well, seeing and hearing disfigured demons in ball gowns hurrying from the estate, along with great blasts of fire and light in the sky was a pretty good indication. “I dare say it was a right ballroom blitz.” In a way, Valmont was glad he missed it, but miffed at not knowing who was amongst the dead. It was his job to keep tabs on all the Royals and for now that was something he needed to catch up on. First things first though, he had his guest to consider.

Valmont picked up his wine glass, and turned the glass around by the stem as he gaze at Ruby, whilst thinking…obviously.

“The royals can wait. No sooner is one crowned, another falls. It’s just happening at a faster rate than normal.”Valmont let out a sigh. “We have only just come through the War of Wrath, and no doubt there will be some repercussions over that. Hostility carried forth even after the final march of the drums.” Valmont set down his glass, then asked Nicholas. “I have a small task, though it might take some time. I wondered if you might work with me, in helping this dear girl learn to communicate. She knows nothing of how to engage, aside from a nod…or a head shake. Do you have any thoughts?”

~RB~

Tsu:  Standing there by them observing, his eyes went to Ruby’s to watch her for moment and looked back. Did she know? Something seemed a bit odd and he wasn’t sure, regardless he’d have to be careful. Oh how hectic it’d probably turn if anything was known, it’d be a ball. Finally coming to he listened to Valmont talk and thought about it, it must of been some night. Lifting his hand he rubbed the back of his head a bit and let out a small sigh. ” It must of been a busy night, huh. I did indeed hear and it probably was a spectacular ball.” He said with a bit of sarcastic tone to it, being playful towards it. Shortly a second later he’d chuckle at the last of his words of the ball and simply shook his head. He wondered what Valmont was thinking, while staring at her and holding a glass. You never honestly knew much anymore about what people thought at times.

” She can’t speak? Well, that’s rather weird but, we all have our own things.. I guess.” That would indeed be a task, how to teach someone how to communicate. A couple of ideas passed through his mind but, he wasn’t so sure. Nicholas looked at Ruby once again and mentally faced palmed. ” Excuse my manners, its nice to meet you Ruby, I’m Nicholas. I think it’ll be fun to help you with this communication thing.” He said and looked over to Valmont, a small smile came to his lips as he thought for a second. ” Well, of course I wouldn’t mind, I’m your Secretary after all and will do whatever is needed. As for ways to communicate.. how about sign language? or for starters we could set her up with a piece of paper and pen, tech her how to write? Then, she could use words through writing but, that might take a little while too.” Nicholas said and let out another sigh as he waited and hoped one of the two would work, if not they’d both have to think of something soon.

Zu:  Just because she wasn’t paying attention, didn’t mean that she wasn’t listening to what the two were exchanging. She started to mess around with what was around her as they were talking to each other. Ruby was really interested in what was surrouding her, never before has she experianced this before. It seemed she would be called Ruby, and there was a jolt in her brain that was only there for a moment but in that moment, something sprang up that she should be remembering. She looked around the place, having the face of someone who saw a shadow but quickly dismissed it. Of course, all her reactions were covered by her hood. She went back to playing with the silverware; Ruby looked like a child the entire time, which wasn’t a surprise.

Razorbackwriter:  ” She can’t speak? Well, that’s rather weird but, we all have our own things.. I guess.”

Indeed, this was true. Valmont for one had his own flaws that he had carefully masked over the years. The times he had to bite his tongue and not burst out loud at the ridiculous proclamations made by various Princes over the years. Often curbing his own carnal desires as he watched women throw themselves at the regal heads of state. Though it was a different story when it came to those that served beneath the glistening ballrooms and darkened chambers. Valmont had learnt how to come about the most tantalizing gossip that was whispered from the very sheets of those he served. As of the moment, he was out of the loop, but he always had a way of getting back in. He was of course discreet in just who he spoke to. Being surrounded by such immoral creatures allowed him to be influenced by them, and taking pride at times in outshining them. Not that they knew that. But in this setting, butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. Valmont did enjoy Nicholas’s company. Strange in a way. Valmont was not interested in the same sex, but there was something about Nicholas that usually tugged at the very pit of the Ambassador’s being. Valmont would never pry of course, but he just found himself taken in. Nicholas was not rash or one to be boastful. Didn’t parade around like some mad fop, but instead with an almost casual serenity. It was peaceful and relaxing to be in his presence.

Nicholas gladly offered to assist in helping their young hooded charge in learning to communicate, though this might require many hours and a lot of patience.

“And this is why I hold you so highly, Nicholas. Always ready to step up to the plate.” The Ambassador rising from his chair, no longer interested in food, but the newest challenge that was sitting before him. While Nicholas’s idea of a pen and paper were good ones to help start in the teaching, Valmont had another idea.

“I was thinking more a small chalk board. About the same size as a notepad. Tied with string so she can wear it around her neck. If we are going to teach her, she’d need a lot of paper. A chalkboard can be erased and written on, again and again.” Starting off simply, might be the go.

Approaching Ruby, he knelt one one knee so that again they can meet eye to eye. He noted her hood was down and he gazed up at her face. He was not afraid of what lay beneath it. Having already seen the curse – her vile stitching. Whilst he had thought of trying to break her free from it, he also didn’t want to spook her. Baby steps were sometimes needed. Another thought came to mind. She carried a weapon. A sword that she would easily un sheath when threatened. Was this because in another life she was a warrior? It would be so much easier if she could tell them.

Watching her play with the silverware, Valmont gathered that food and drink were also foreign to her. She wouldn’t be able to open her mouth. What had he been thinking? It brought from him a sigh.

“How foolish I have been? Swept up in my own world to see that this is all very new to you.” He rose to standing and offered Ruby his hand. “Why not come inside, and we can show you the beauty of the Embassy.”

If she did take up his offer, one of the rooms that they would go to was a training room. For sword fighting.

Ruby – Part Two : SS.

A meeting by chance.  Two very different beings.  One was the Ambassador of Hell’s Kingdoms.  The other a mysterious girl whose name….is Ruby.  Though Ruby cannot speak, Valmont is able to see past the crude stitches….and beneath the red hood, he finds a friend.

Ruby just stared at Valmont blankly, having no idea what he was thinking at all. He was seriously hard to read, which was usual for someone of her… particular skills. She just stared at the hand that was presented to her, then back up at Valmont who had taken it away from her face and stared once again into the abyss in front of them. Ruby turned to that same abyss, wondering what would happen next. Nobody truly knew why Ruby couldn’t speak, and frankly she hated that fact. It was like she was a ghost, which ironically she was. She almost felt herself going to turn into that very thing, it did happen randomly though it sometimes there was a warning. However, Ruby would be surprised that Valmont actually asked, which surprised her so much she instantly turned her head to him as if to ask did you really ask that? This was… almost great. She finally was looked at by someone, someone finally wanted to know a bit more about her. She was so excited, she almost instantly threw off her cape.

Ruby turned to Valmont, and lifted her hood from her face. Valmont was greeted by stitches on her mouth, crude stitches that looked very sloppy and this is why she could never speak. Ruby was cursed to never speak, ever. She wondered what his reaction would be.

Valmont was accustomed to seeing the most gruesome sides to some of Hell’s nobles, and yet he found himself staring at the girl’s sewn lips in wonderment. So this was why the poor girl had been unable to utter a word. Her lips, so crudely sewn together would make it impossible to partake in a verbal conversation. It was the way she reacted to the question that brought him to fix his gaze upon her. Almost like she took his question as an honest query into her state of being. Her hood was cast back and it was there for all to see. Now, some may flinch in horror. Others might flee in fear. Not Valmont. He took out a monocle and placed it to his eye.

“Intriguing.”

The ambassador brought his hand up to his chin and stroked it thoughtfully as his eyes traveled from the coarse stitches upon her lips, and back up to her eyes. Valmont wondered just how this came to be. Why would someone wish for this girl to not speak? Was it a punishment? What could she possibly have done to deserve it? It was clear from early on when he had come down the path, that she was easily startled, but more than willing to defend herself. Not that she needed to from the likes of Valmont. As much as he wished to ask the flood of questions that had filled his mind, Valmont took a different tack.

“Do you sign? Can you use your hands to speak? A chalk board?” He had seen in the past how others that were muted were able to communicate. Valmont figured that this girl must have found some way, unless….she had been banished and left to rot.

Zu:

Ruby couldn’t believe it, nobody has yet to see her face and the first person who has taken a good look at it didn’t even run, as she had thought so many would do. He treated her like a normal person, not a monster. Ruby didn’t really know what to think, there was so many things she’d like to express to this one man, a man who had not known her yet gave her a chance, saw her as more than a mess of a being in Hell. She was being observed, though that was to be expected. Ruby forgot what she had looked like, it had been so long but the cruel stitches and the feeling of a shut mouth gave her enough of an image on a daily basis. He then asked her a question, a question that wasn’t expected at all. He asked if she was able to speak, but she only shook her head. Ruby had not once communicated anything with someone, let alone use tools to help that. Ruby didn’t even know how to write, nor did she know what those things were.

She couldn’t fit this feeling anymore, a feeling of comfort that was all too new to her. Ruby just flung herself onto Valmont; finally, someone that understood her though he was far from being a nobody. Yet, as she went for the hug, her body became transparent and disappeared in front of his eyes, causing Ruby to fall to the floor. She quickly got up and looked at herself in horror. No, no no no! She can’t just randomly become her ghost self, not now! This was the first time that someone acknowledged her existence! She broke down into quiet tears, as her mouth prevented her from screaming.

How does one describe seeing a girl become overjoyed by the simple art of conversation. The facial expression, coupled with the horrid stitches that forced her lips closed was enough to melt a dark heart, even one like Valmont. This companionship, friendship if you could call it that must be so new and needed to the hooded girl, that she flung herself at him to embrace him in her arms. There was however, one…small…problem. Instead of catching hold of Valmont, her body went straight through him – only to crumple to the ground below. If it was a surprise for Ruby, it was even more of a shock for the Ambassador, who had little time to ready himself for either the embrace, or the fact that she was….a ghost.

Valmont barely had time to spin around, but when he did he saw the poor girl was on her feet and tearful about what she had now discovered. The girl, who could not speak….was a ghost. It left the Ambassador speechless. He could see the abject horror in her eyes. If her lips could part, she would be screaming for certain. Amazing what one can convey when they are unable to use their voice. Valmont racked his brain. How could he comfort a girl that he could not even touch? She had no answers to whether she knew to sign, or to write. Silent screams.

“Oh my dear.” Valmont was quick to move to her side, though he tried to pat her shoulder – his hand kept missing the mark. If she looked up, she would see a genuine concern in his eyes. Valmont stood firm whereas many others in Hell would turn their backs and go about their sinful ways. The ambassador felt a sudden urge to help the girl if he could. It was the least he could do.

“I can’t resurrect the dead, and you probably don’t know where your body is….or even what time it would be in.” He knew that for a certainty. “But what I can do is help teach you how to communicate and give you a home.”

Valmont waited for her response, be it a simple nod or the shake of the head in rejection.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby couldn’t handle this, the first time she finally was able to make a friend and now, even if it was for a short period of time, she couldn’t feel the embrace of this person called Valmont. This was a cruel life for someone of her age, added on top of the fact of how alone she truly was. Ruby heard Valmont talking to her, and turned her ghostly gaze to him, astral-like tears streaming down her face. Her face was like an injured animal, looking for the one who gave it attention to help comfort her. His words almost inspired her, and she felt a rise in feelings that she was only now experiencing, this time only amplified to extreme levels. It was at that moment she became herself again and feeling herself become visible again, took that opportunity to fully embrace him. Finally, after all these years, she not only found a companion but someone who could possibly help her solve her mysterious past. It was at that moment Ruby knew this was the most trustworthy man.

Razorbackwriter;  If Valmont could brush away the astral tears with his gloved hand then he would have. But how can one touch a spirit? How could he allow her to feel the simple caress of his fingers upon her skin? Truth was he couldn’t. But that didn’t mean he didn’t have the power to make her feel a renewed sense of worth in the most important place of all. Her heart. She needed comfort, yes. But not physical. That was unobtainable for now. What he could do was use words to soothe her troubled soul.

“Often it is the simple things that we feel that are done, not so much by a kind embrace, but with a gentle word.” The Ambassador knew many great and wonderful words, but simplicity is always best. Cut to the chase and be open and frank. Valmont had no idea the length of time the girl had wandered the desolate planes alone. No one in which to share her thoughts and feelings, and no way to express it till now. It was as though Valmont had a way through the curses barrier. Seeing beyond the crude stitches and the blood red cape. There was so much more to this girl than met the eye. The Ambassador had all the time in hell to find out.

Though he had sent his carriage on home when he had arrived at the Isolated cliff, he didn’t at all mind walking the long road to his home. A vast estate granted to him by the Seven kingdoms. It was best that he lived off their lands, since he was not one to form alliance or attachment to any one Kingdom.

https://i1.wp.com/cdn3.whatculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Dangerous-Liaisons-John-Malkovich.jpg

“The road to my home is a long one, my dear; but I feel that it would do me good. You too.” His smile was a genuine one as he gestured in the right direction in which they should go.

“You shall never be alone again.”

His word was his bond.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby had no idea what that meant, but it sounded like a good thing. He continued to show his kindness by just being there, he hardly had to do anything else to please her. Ruby had just wanted a companion and forgot about those thoughts when she had been alone for so long; Valmont brought those feelings back and now she was more in need of it than every before. She got up so he could do the same, as Ruby didn’t want to be too much of a burden on Valmont. She rubbed the tears that came from her face, this time able to touch herself as she had become “human” once again. He was powerful, and rich, by the looks of him so obviously he’ll have a nice place to stay in. Ruby wasn’t used to that, and wasn’t expecting him to be that kind to someone he just meet.

While she couldn’t speak, his promise to never have her be by herself anymore, and that he would take her to his home, filled her eyes with hope and joy. Never before has she looked like this, her usual mood seemingly dry and blank, but now thanks to Valmont it was filled with that joyful innocence once again. As of now, only Valmont knew of her true face, and she intended to keep it that way. With a nod of acknowledgement, she hooded herself once again and took Valmont’s arm, so to not leave his side.

Razorbackwriter:  This was to be the start of an unique and beautiful friendship, the likes that had never been seen in Hell before this day. Twas a chance meeting and yet there was a kindred feeling that they shared. Both were lost really. Valmont had seemed to lose his sense of direction, the young girl had no idea that she was dead. Though they were not able to touch each other physically, they had moved towards sharing with each other’s minds and hearts. Walking along they would have made an interesting sight. The dashing and aristocratic Valmont and the red hooded Ruby with the sewn up lips. Their eyes shone, as they both found a new purpose, a reason to exist or not in Ruby’s case. All she had to do was nod to agree to follow Valmont wherever it was he would lead her. The walk was a quiet one, only interrupted by the light crushing of gravel under Valmont’s boots. Ruby of course made no sound. How could she? She bore no weight upon the earth beneath her and she was unable to speak.

“Time is on our side, my dear.”

And it truly was.

Nothing, absolute nothing.

The Path of Souls called to her as she made her way here, and now without their moans and groans, she was alone and things were dead quiet. The lonely ghost would be like this for a little while, she just wanted some peace and quiet. The girl’s name was Ruby, though nobody knew that nor knew this ghost was female. The only thing people know about her is the nickname associated with her, Bloody Hood. A drifter, lazily moving from one end to another without anyone noticing her. Was it for the better? Nobody could live this sad life, nobody except Ruby. Ghosts weren’t too common here, because they would either have their own bodies or take control of others, making it their own as time past. For Ruby, she was just… human looking. There was no body to possess, nobody would want her. Ruby would just be here, alone. That was just the way she wanted it to be, yet when that thought sprang to life, a tear fell off her cheek; was it what she truly wanted?

Razorbackwriter:  The black carriage drawn by two horses that matched perfectly came to a stop just off the pathway that lead to one of the quieter, more isolated parts of Hell. Resting on the window ledge was a gloved hand that drummed the sides as the carriage shunted to a stop. The driver knocked on the roof of the carriage to signal their arrival, and a loud sigh was heard from within. Valmont opened the carriage door slowly, and then descended the small foot holds till landing with both heeled shoes on the light gravel surface.

“Return the carriage to my abode. I need time to think.”

The Driver gave a curt nod, his face partially obscured by a black face mask – only his red eyes could be seen. He clicked his tongue and snapped on the reigns so the carriage would start to move and head back to town. Valmont stood solemnly, before slowly removing the ornate black mask that he was going to wear to the Greed Ball. Word was already spreading of how the festivities had turned into a blood bath. Scores of demons having fled the scene and running past Valmont’s carriage in the town square. So much for the ambassador’s plans that eve. What with the royalty scattering like cockroaches back into their own kingdoms, there would be no need for Valmont’s services.

Slowly, the well dressed Incubus strolled up the pathway to what would be a sheer cliff face with a look out. It was the perfect place to think…to contemplate. To regroup.

As he walked along, he kicked a few small stones – his face so pale, thanks to the makeup that he wore so often. He still liked to keep some traditions alive from his former life. Oh how easy it was then. Now, however there were changes coming once more. Perhaps not a war, like that of Wrath….but there was a feeling of uncertainty. If only Valmont had the clairvoyance to see that far ahead.

It was only when Valmont lifted his gaze, did he notice the outline of what looked to be a hooded woman. The Incubus glanced about to see if she was truly alone, and all he saw was dark bushes and a stone bench. There was no one else there. Could she be admiring the view on such a night?

Valmont took out a small silver box of snuff, and tapped on the lid to open it. He brought a pinch of it up to his right nostril and inhaled sharply. Throwing his head back and letting out a loud gasp. That was the ticket. He snapped the silver box shut once more. The noise sure to be loud enough to let the woman know….she was not alone.

Zu:  Though she rather have some company, for some strange reason, it was nice to be by yourself. Ruby knew that more than anyone else what it was like to be alone… but did anyone know what it was like to be afriad. She wasn’t so well known, but those who could see her red hood knew she was a killer, nothing more. That sort of thought really sent a chill down Ruby’s spine, her body shaking only for a moment. It had been what seemed like years, decades even, since she first arrived here. How was the question of the century; Ruby only had the most vague of dreams, if that’s what they even were, about her past but it never was clear. Her thoughts would come to a halt, because she suddenly heard a noise behind her. Her instincts kicked in, and she jumped off her seat and landed on her feet, blade ready when she was in her readied stance. Ruby had let her guard down, but it seemed like nothing because she didn’t see anyone… at first. Ruby wasn’t too sure, but she thought she could see someone a bit in the distance. Ruby didn’t call out to this outline.

Razorbackwriter:  The snap of the snuff box had done the trick. Though it might have startled the hooded girl, rather than just alerting her to the fact that there was someone else there on that windy cliff. Valmont drew his head back slightly at the way that the girl leapt up, sword at the ready. A feisty one indeed. The incubus carefully deposited his snuff box back into the breast pocket of his velvet jacket, before sweeping his gloved hand across the flap to ensure it was tucked away safely.

A shock of red fabric, that was the first thing that Valmont noticed about the lass. That…and the fact she was ready to attack, should he make a sudden move. This was the reason that Valmont moved with a fluid like motion, so as not to alarm the girl further.

“Ah ah.” Valmont waggled his finger to and fro, ,before speaking in an almost condescending way. “A gentleman can be killed with such a blade, and dearie, I am not looking for a fight.” With all the finesse of a poet he added. “I have died many small deaths, well before this night.”

Slowly, he started to stroll towards the girl, before stopping just out of blade range. He still held the mask in his hand and then as any gentleman would do on meeting a young lady for the first time, he stepped back with his right foot, his arms swanning out as he made a more formal introduction.

“Vicomte de Valmont…I am the Ambassador to the Seven kingdoms.”

Would the ruby hooded young lady attempt to slice him in two, as he rose from his bow?

Zu:  Ruby just stood there, scythe at the ready. However did that, they should have snuck up on her if their intention was to kill. Ruby wasn’t a pushover when it came to taking care of herself. Finally, the man that alerted her to his presence stepped out of the dark to reveal that… he wasn’t the killer type. Ruby almost let down her blade, but realized it could have been a ploy and it only made her grip it more tightly. Ruby knew that if this man, who she would know as Valmont, would try to attack her, she wouldn’t be in a great position. Who knew just how far, if there was even an end, to this cliff. Ruby knew this, and because of this, didn’t turn around to find out. He spoke, and the way he spoke wasn’t to Ruby’s liking. It was almost like he was taunting her, was he confident in his abilities?

He came closer, without any regret, and it only made Ruby tense up even more. As of late, her opponents were nothing to her but she had never experianced someone like this before. Ruby took a step back, peddles signaling her to stop because she was indeed on the edge, figuratively and literally. Just as he was close to the blade, which got even closer to his throat, he just.. stepped back. This caused Ruby to once again lower her guard a bit. After introducing himself, he just stopped movement all together. This was her chance, if he was an enemy, to strike. Yet, no matter how much she wanted to, Ruby only spun her blade behind her to put it away. She just looked at Valmont, with not an expression or a response. Her entire face was still covered.

Razorbackwriter:  It was almost like playing Russian roulette. The bow made at a point where the girl had every chance to slice him through if she felt so inclined. Valmont had speed, oh yes – but, this was far more exhilarating to live on the edge. He had dealt with some of hell’s worst and then some. Stood at the foot of the dais of each and every throne in Hell and managed to come out alive, either by sheer luck or the magic of his silver tongue. Though whilst in the movement of the bow, his face was partially obscured from the hooded maiden’s view, he could only bare a grin as he felt the seconds tick by and he had not been attacked. Had his actions caused her to second guess what only came natural? Perhaps.

On rising he watched the girl spin the blade and re-sheath it neatly behind her. Valmont did his utmost to hide his look of satisfaction, and decided since the girl did not wish to speak, that it would be left for him to do so.

“Thank you.” Valmont gave a light head tilt with a nod to show appreciation for her actions. The incubus reached for his right frilly cuff and gave it a small tug, before walking towards the edge of the cliff. There was nothing to stop him from falling, and he simply stared outward as though something else now plagued his mind. It was hard to tell, except when he held up the mask that he was to wear at the party. He turned it over in his hand and then without word he simply released it and watched it flutter away. The wind taking it….to God knows where.

Valmont lowered his hand slowly and then brought both hands around to clasp behind his back. He should have been at that ball this eve. Had he not been made late. Now he was truly behind the game. The chess pieces had all moved without his hand and it annoyed him greatly. Finally, he spoke.

“What is a life…without purpose? Hmm?”

The incubus glanced sideways at the hooded girl, and wondered if she felt the same way.

Zu:  Just because she had put away her weapon did not mean she wasn’t watching his every move, though she felt a bit more safe than she normally would, was this just a part of his presence? Ruby had never felt like this before, being so safe. This wouldn’t mean she would trust Valmont, he looked very shady and by that knowledge, wasn’t that different from the other beings in Hell that she had encountered. He had thanked her for sparing his life, and Ruby didn’t give so much as a nod of acknowledgement to his words of gratitude. He stepped beside her, his presence not arousing any sort of hostility toward her. Ruby wouldn’t quite capture his face, thanks to the mask, but she saw some features, though they were very vague, like his ears. However, when he let his mask come off, his face was clear.

Valmont wasn’t like the people she saw daily, he was more… noble. He must have been powerful if he looked like that, only those with such a figure would be powerful, financially. Ruby watched the mask fly away, something like that simply had no meaning for him. He spoke once again, this time asking something quite obscure, according to Ruby. She turned her head toward him, giving this blank stare that wasn’t revealed as the hood was the only thing he could see out of her face. Nothing came out of her mouth, as usual, but by her body language, she was confused.

“No words?….Nothing? Not even a titter? I must be losing my touch.” Valmont lamented, as the hooded girl stared at him as though she was completely confused by not only Valmont’s words, but also his actions. He held a hand out to the wind as though to shake someone’s hand.

“The mask was for a society do this eve. Not that I got to see it.” He paused only briefly before adding. ” Not that it matters.” It was almost like the Ambassador was talking to himself. The incubus smiled weakly before turning to look out at the vast expanse of emptiness that was before them both. Hell for many was a prison of sorts, for others a playground to commit wicked deeds. There were those that took advantage of the less fortunate souls trapped within its confines. To be standing on the edge of the cliff was as far as you could get from the swollen belly of sin. This was the one place that Valmont would come to think, to regather his thoughts, and to plot his next move. Course, the Princes of Hell had kept him quite busy up till now. That was before the war…before the change of guard. Women. Ha, and one of them was actually a man cursed to be a woman. Mammon had a sense of humor at the last moments of his life. The daft git.

Women were to Valmont, what wine was to an alcoholic. He was addicted, drawn to savor the warm boldness of taste, though Valmont bawked at going anywhere near the likes of Lydia. The new Princess of Greed. Foul woman she was. He imagined that her juices tasted like vinegar….or worse. He even shuddered at the very thought. Ew.

But this once, as he stood along side the mute in the flowing red cape, he did not feel the usual urges to conquer. Strange. He really was off his game. Oh…hell.

“Did your enemy remove your tongue?” He started to wonder, if this creature was in fact, a lost soul.
