The Corrs – Breathless

Had a bonza Christmas day…and now I am winding down with a cold beer and some music.  So, decided to share a favorite on this most festive day.  The Corrs – Breathless.

“Breathless”

Go on go on
Leave me breathless
Come on [echo…]

Hey… yeah…

The daylight’s fading slowly
The time with you is standing still
I’m waiting for you only
The slightest touch and I feel weak
I cannot lie, from you I cannot hide
And I’m losing the will to try
Can’t hide it (can’t hide it), can’t fight it (can’t fight it)

So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can’t deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling)
Make me long for your kiss
Go on (go on), go on (go on)
Yeah…
Come on
Yeah…

And if there’s no tomorrow
And all we have is here and now
I’m happy just to have you
You’re all the love I need somehow
It’s like a dream
Although I’m not asleep
And I never want to wake up
Don’t lose it (don’t lose it), don’t leave it (don’t leave it)

So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can’t deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling)
Make me long for your kiss
Go on (go on), go on (go on)
Yeah…
Come on [echo…]

[Guitar’s solo] Yeah-ie, yeah, yeah-ie, yeah…

And I can’t lie
From you I cannot hide
And I’ve lost my will to try
Can’t hide it (can’t hide it), can’t fight it, (can’t fight it)

So go on, (go on) go on, (go on), come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can’t deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling) Make me long for your kiss

Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave… me breathless
Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave… me breathless
Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave… me breathless
Go on… go on!

My Top Ten Song List – Number 6.

Time now for number six.  So…what was the song that brought the Nineties to a close in Australia and welcomed 2000?   Vanessa Amorosi’s “Absolutely Everybody”  Performed just shy of the steps of the Sydney Opera House, it was also sung at the closing of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was something of an anthem for the generation.  It’s a song close to my heart and to this day it still gets me to my feet.   It’s pure positivity.

Vanessa Amorosi’s “Absolutely Everybody”.

“Absolutely Everybody”

(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody, everybody)
(Absolutely Everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody, yeah (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody (everybody, everybody)
Absolutely Everybody, yeah (everybody)

Everybody needs a little loving
Everybody needs somebody thinking of them
Everybody needs a little respect
And whatever it takes, I’m gonna get it

Everybody needs a hand to hold
Someone to cling to when the nights are getting cold
I’m no different, I am just the same
A player in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Absolutely everybody
Every boy and every girl
Absolutely everybody, yeah (everybody)

Everybody needs a human touch
I can’t live without it, it means too much to me
Everybody needs one true friend
Someone who’ll be there until the very end

And absolutely everybody breathes
And everybody, everybody bleeds
We’re no different, we’re all the same
Players in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody (everybody)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (woah)
Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody (players in the)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (game)

Every boy and girl
Every woman and child
Every father and son
I said now everyone
Yes, now everyone

Everybody needs a human touch
Everybody, everybody needs love
I’m no different, I am just the same
A player in the game

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody
Absolutely everybody in the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs
Absolutely everybody, yeah

Absolutely everybody (yeah)
Absolutely everybody
Absolutely everybody, everybody, everybody (woah)
Absolutely everybody, yeah (everybody)

Absolutely Everybody

Good News Week – Peter Greste gets the good news at end of Media Circus.

A new thread but I call this Good News Week.  There just isn’t enough good news in the world these days, so…I am happy to share this footage, from the ABC studios as it happened.

Just as the studio recording an episode of The Chaser’s Media Circus was ending, Australian journalist for Al Jazeera Peter Greste gets news from Egypt of the #FreeAJstaff pardons from Egypt.

Sing a long Saturday! Elton John’s “Saturday’s alright for fighting.”

Good Morning to all of you reading this.  It’s Saturday, and I can’t be more pleased.  What a week.  The heat is starting to drive everyone crazy I think and working in it is a nightmare.  You come home every night drenched in sweat.  So, as I enjoy my coffee and catching up on posting so that I have more stories to post up here on the blog, thought I would share a great song – a classic that symbolizes the joy of Saturday.  Sing a long if you dare.

“Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting”

It’s getting late have you seen my mates
Ma tell me when the boys get here
It’s seven o’clock and I want to rock
Want to get a belly full of beer

My old man’s drunker than a barrel full of monkeys
And my old lady she don’t care
My sister looks cute in her braces and boots
A handful of grease in her hair

Don’t give us none of your aggravation
We had it with your discipline
Saturday night’s alright for fighting
Get a little action in

Get about as oiled as a diesel train
Gonna set this dance alight
`Cause Saturday night’s the night I like
Saturday night’s alright alright alright

Well they’re packed pretty tight in here tonight
I’m looking for a dolly who’ll see me right
I may use a little muscle to get what I need
I may sink a little drink and shout out “She’s with me!”

A couple of the sound that I really like
Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike
I’m a juvenile product of the working class
Whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass

The Foundations – Build me up Buttercup.

This song is so easy to sing a long too.  Go on…give it a try.  -smiles-

“Build Me Up Buttercup”

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

“I’ll be over at ten”, you told me time and again
But you’re late, I wait around and then (bah-dah-dah)
I went to the door, I can’t take any more
It’s not you, you let me down again

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time and I’ll make you mine
(Hey, hey, hey!) I’ll be home
I’ll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

You were my toy but I could be the boy you adore
If you’d just let me know (bah-dah-dah)
Although you’re untrue, I’m attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so

I-I-I need you-oo-oo more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

“Dacking” – : Fitzy and Wippa’s take on Pharrell William’s “Happy”

Dacking – Aussie slang for pulling down your mate’s pants.

Enough said…..just watch the clip.

In the last 5 weeks we have played a game
Where your private parts could be on display
When theres prime opportune to inflict some pain
Over there, without a care, and its time to shame

Because I’m dacking…
Come along and watch me pull his jeans down to his shoes
Because I’m dacking…
Clap along if I accidentally grab his undies too
Because I’m dacking…
Clap along if I dack him waiting in a que
Because I’m dacking
Clap along if you chuckle at someone partially nude

Here comes my hands and down come his pants
You try to live to live your life, but you just cant relax
You think, tightening your belt, will be just fine
No offense to you, don’t waste your time, here’s why…

Because I’m dacking…
Come along and watch the velocity of his shorts travel to his shoes
Because I’m dacking…
Clap along if the peanut wears his pants real loose
Because I’m dacking…
Clap along if you’ll laugh if I dack him in his suit
Because I’m dacking
Clap along if your keen to witness a full moon

Bring them down… Your running shorts…
Bring them down… your jeans are too high…
Bring me down… ya trackie pants…
Bring me down, at the photocopier
Bring me down…When you order your lunch
Bring me down… your aggots say hi…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said…

Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… your love is too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

Bernard Fanning – ‘Wish You Well’

Good morning guys.  Time for some music and today I have chosen another of my favorites, by Bernard Fanning.  Lead singer of the Brisbane band “Powderfinger”, this was one of his first solo recordings.  It’s quite upbeat, kinda like me today I guess.  Really happy news.  I started a new exciting collaboration with WordPress’s own lpstirling. https://lpstribling.wordpress.com/ We managed to get a few turns at posting paragraphs, and I hope to post up the new work in the next few days.  Anyways, have a great day!

“Wish You Well”

Up so early feel so bright
Didn’t get much sleep last night
Freight train rattled through my head
Whistle blowing love is dead
Is deadHeart attacked by fear and doubt
Won’t be long till the truth comes out
First impressions never last
Lover’s bonds they hold so fast

Restless future burning bright
The past is holding on so tight
Never heard the warning bell
And I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well

Welcome swallows dip and swing
Take their cue from the slightest thing
Rolling fog into my room
Why did you give up on me so soon?
So soon

Restless future burning bright
The past is holding on so tight
Never heard the warning bell
And I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well

Why did you give up on me so soon?
Did you give up on me so soon?
I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well

ELO – All over the World

A song to get you up and dancing!  ELO’s “All over the World” with a clip that celebrates flash mobs.

Everybody all around the world, gotta tell you what I just heard
There’s gonna be a party all over the world

I got a message on the radio, but where it came from I don’t really know
And I heard these voices calling all over the world

[Chorus:]
All over the world, everybody got the word
Everybody everywhere is gonna feel tonight

Everybody walkin’ down the street, everybody movin’ to the beat
They’re gonna get hot down in the U.S.A. (New York, Detroit, L.A.)

We’re gonna take a trip across the sea, everybody come along with me
We’re gonna hit the night down in gay Pareee

[chorus]

All over the world, everybody got the word
Everybody everywhere is gonna feel tonight

[Instrumental break]

London, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, Rio, Hong Kong, Tokyo
L.A., New York, Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, Shard End and

[chorus]

All over the world, everybody got the word
Everybody everywhere is gonna feel tonight

Everybody all around the world, gotta tell you what I just heard
Everybody walkin’ down the street, I know a place where we all can meet
Everybody gonna have a good time, everybody will shine till the daylight

[chorus]

All over the world, everybody got the word [repeats 3x]

Stevie Nicks – Edge of Seventeen.

This is my song pick of the week from my car.  I sing this loud and proud with the window down.  Enjoy.

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singin’
Whoo-whoo-whoo
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singin’
Whoo, baby, whoo
Said, whoo

And the days go by
Like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby
Nothin’ else mattered

He was no more
(He was no more)
Than a baby then
Well, he seemed broken hearted
Somethin’ within him
But the moment
That I first laid
Eyes on him
All alone on the edge of seventeen

Well, I went today
Maybe I will go again
Tomorrow, yeah, yeah
Well, the music there
Well it was hauntingly familiar
When I see you doin’
What I try to do for me
With their words of a poet
And a voice from a choir
And a melody
Nothin’ else mattered

The clouds never expect it
When it rains
But the sea changes colours
But the sea
Does not change
So with the slow graceful flow
Of age
I went forth with an age old
Desire to please
On the edge of seventeen

Well then suddenly
There was no one left standing
In the hall, yeah, yeah
In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
When I went searchin’ for an answer
Up the stairs and down the hall
Not to find an answer
Just to hear the call
Of a nightbird singin’
(Come away)
(Come away)

Well, I hear you (well, I hear you)
In the morning (in the morning)
And I hear you (and I hear you)
At nightfall (at nightfall)
Sometime to be near you
Is to be unable to hear you
My love
I’m a few years older than you
(I’m a few years older than you)
