Time stops – Hell’s Kitchen : SS

~They say that when you meet the love of your life, time stops – and that’s true.~

Narcissa was more or less lost on everything that had just taken place. She resorted to standing idly by, silent as everything was handled by the Doctor alone. More or less, anyway. Everyone had parted on their own without her having to see them out, or ensure that no detours were made. She would simply look after them each time they went, eyes following them curiously before they turned back to Wilhelm. The room was silent again without anyone left to make demands to the man. Narcissa, who had began to look dull, perked up enough that light seemed to flash back in her eyes and the corners of her lips turned up slightly. This was the face best worn for the others in Hell’s Kitchen. It didn’t last long though. The sound of the lift having been silenced in the distance, it was only when the frankensteinian girl began walking toward Wilhelm that he staggered and clutched a work bench. “Doctor?” Her smile faltered while she slowed midstep, reaching out as though to help steady him from where she stood. Everything…I did, I did for love. Narcissa didn’t know what the Doctor meant as he continued speaking, but the tone of his voice and his expression concerned even her. The girl’s usually smiling face was now sporting a frown. The tear that rolled down his cheek as he looked at her caused her to freeze further; this was not the Wilhelm she knew. But she understood he had deeper feelings than happiness, like everyone in Hell’s Kitchen. Narcissa would stare back at him as he stood before her and patted her shoulder. “Wilhelm…” The monster never said the Doctor’s name. Not ever. She did now, but without knowing what she wanted to say to him.

Not that it would matter in the end. She looked in the direction that he turned, and as he walked away to a control panel. From here the monster took a step toward him and stopped again, as though she was unsure what to do in their current situation. Narcissa was obviously confused to what situation was being brought up, but she had a gut feeling that it was bad. Was Wilhelm in the right state of mind? Had the deal he just made meant something bad for him? Something bad for Hell’s Kitchen? She had barely heard his whisper before the sirens started blaring around the pair, red lights flashing over the originally green lit room. There was no answer for that question, as she couldn’t begin to guess what his secret might have been. Even remembering the short moment from the previous night while he helped her pick out a mask, she could come up with nothing. Her mind wouldn’t delve that deep while she recognized that the Doctor was in low spirits now and saying weird things. “Doctor, I don’t…” Narcissa’s eyes dragged away from him, shooting toward the lift when she heard the hunchback scream for him. His continuous calling only frightened her before she looked back to see Wilhelm swaying on his stool. He would kill himself with blood loss… But why wasn’t she moving to remove the IV needle from his arm? “Doctor, please!” She clutched onto her white coat nervously, looking deeply concerned for him. It felt like her feet were stuck to the ground. She could always reach the lift and attempt to get out, but she didn’t know the code either. What did that mean for her? Narcissa looked to the insulators that were bubbling; the first one finally broke and something hideous fell out. One of the Doctor’s creations, no doubt. Was there any hope to control these things? For her? She tried to pay no mind to the way it roared at her, baring its terrible fangs. Normally, she wouldn’t be bothered by this sort of thing, but she was always in company of the good Doctor and the rest of the team. Now she was alone, and Wilhelm seemed crazed…at least compared to his normal personality and ideas. But the set up here was planned; this had been his way to bring his army to life, so he was thinking clearly. “Doctor!” she cried out, despite the heaps of goopy bodies falling to the ground around the tomb. Narcissa had to lunge forward to catch him before he hit the ground, sobbing. Her cries were dry, as her tear ducts didn’t work. “Don’t be dead! I like you alive!” She pulled the IV needle form his arm at long last, if the fall hadn’t done so for her, and she stood up to look at the standing undead, shoulders shaking as she clutched onto Wilhelm with the hope that he was only unconscious. Narcissa would begin to back away toward the lift, one hand reaching for her rod that she kept tucked in her coat pocket while she propped the Doctor against her shoulder.

Hell’s Kitchen – Cardis Tomb

~They say that when you meet the love of your life, time stops – and that’s true.~

The scene in Cardis tomb was now apocalyptic. Blasts of electrical energy, sparks pouring out of so many machines, the bright flashing of warning lamps that signaled the great danger that had been unleashed by the actions of the Doctor. One by one, the vast army was collapsing out from the insulated bubbles that had kept them suspended for near to ten years. It was the sight of nightmares, one of the scariest things imaginable. In the middle of all this, a terrified and confused Narcissa was struggling to save the doctor, who had collapsed due to sheer blood loss. The secret ingredient to the Doctor’s masterpiece….his own blood. Pale, and barely able to keep his eyelids from closing his figure was limp against the female monster. But while his body seemed to have all but given up on life, in his mind’s eye…..he could see….her.

The scene was all black and white. That same street where they last saw each other. The night that Wilhelm was to give her his ring. There was no cars, no other people. Just Missy standing on the other side of the road. God, she looked beautiful. Wilhelm looked down and saw he was wearing his usual lab gear however. Was this what death was like?

“Wilhelm!” She cried out, almost shocked to see him in this place. Was it the afterlife? It certainly wasn’t hell, but it wasn’t heaven either.

“Missy?” Wilhelm started to run across the road and Missy did the same, till they both reached the center and hugged each other. Missy was crying as she kept stroking Wilhelm’s head. The world was all but frozen, as though they were the only people left. Wilhelm hugged her as if his very life depended upon it. Missy put her hands to cup his cheeks and kissed him repeatedly, though now both were crying. It had been so long. For all the horrible things that the Doctor had done in trying to keep her alive, he had never again seen her spirit, till now.

Breaking the kiss, they stared at each other. Lost in each other’s eyes and this very moment. “I’ve been with you all along, Wil. I saw what the Dark one did. He tricked you. Of all the ones you could never bring back, it was me.”

“Why….why couldn’t you come back to me?’ He blubbered, fighting to get the question out. The one that had plagued him for so long.

“Someone had to be your angel, Wil”

It was then that it all started to make sense. Doing a deal with a devil like Shamus brought only a cruel and sick joke in the form of what he thought was his beloved Missy. The Dark One wanted the Doctor all along. To be the creator of the army that would ruin the balance of Hell once and for all. Dangling the carrot that he could have his love back. Missy brought up Wilhem’s fingers to her lips and kissed them.

“But now….now we can be together.”

Wilhelm started to smile as his eyes shined with tears. it was what he wanted…what he wanted all along. Just to be with her.

Just then a hollow sounding voice rang out through the empty street.

“Doctor!”

Both the Doctor and Missy turned – their faces hit by a strong wind that was the world starting up again. Time had stopped, this was true…but on the other side, the female monster was in great danger.

“Don’t be dead! I like you alive!”

Her panicked screams were now growing louder, as the force of wind was turning into that same storm that fell the night that Missy died. It was like he was about to watch a repeat of history.

“NO!” The Doctor was torn from Missy’s hands and was now seated in the restaurant, the ring box in his hand. Missy was back on the other side of the street, about to cross the road. The look of horror on Wilhelm’s face was apparent, as the street filled again with cars and people. Wilhelm shot up out of his chair and smashed his fists against the glass window of the restaurant as Missy stepped out onto the road……

The tomb was now alive with the roars and sound of the undead army finally awakening. It was led by the first of the creatures to break out from its insulated bubble of goo. Wilhelm’s fingers twitched slightly, as he placed it into his pocket, only to pull out a key card that fit into the slot under the lift control panel. If Narcissa could get the card into the slot before the monsters attacked, it would activate the lift – which would open on the top floor to allow Loc and Igor to enter and come to their rescue.

With all the sparks and electricity being unleashed from the machines around the room, Narcissa jumped back toward the wall leading to the lift. Her body was highly conductive; metal everywhere, even on her lab coat. She frantically looked from the electricity to the Doctor in her arms. There was no choice to pull out her weapon while holding him as well; she merely backed toward the lift further while the undead continued to drop onto the floor one by one. Taking a moment to look at his face, the girl could at least see that his eyes weren’t completely closed. They seemed to be fluttering; it was a sign. Her calls were continued until she noticed his fingers twitching. She would give another dry sob, looking relieved and somehow still panicked. “Wilhelm, you’re alive!” she called, rejoicing. His hand was dipping into his pocket, pulling out a key card. Narcissa’s eyes widened slightly before she grabbed it from him quickly and held onto him tighter. Looking up in time for one of the undead to lunge toward her with a massive growling roar. She jumped back, using her enhanced movements to increase the distance until she was next to the lift. The key card was pushed into place. The lift wouldn’t be on her floor, sadly…due to the leaving of the prince and his allies… Now Narcissa would have to wait, holding the Doctor tightly while keeping an eye on the undead not far off from them. “IGOR! HURRY!” she screamed, ensuring they heard her above. The girl was shaking, despite everything she had done…and was doing…for the sake of the Doctor.

Hell’s Kitchen – The Laboratory

Up in the foyer, the lights were flickering on and off as the power systems were taking a beating. Down below the harrowing screams and vicious sound of the awakened army was the very thing of nightmares. Igor was still beating on the doors when all of a sudden with a loud whoosh they opened as though by magic. Igor fell forward and landed on the interior of the lift with a splat, and down through the elevator sharft you could hear Narcissa scream for him to hurry. The hunchback had to scramble to get to his feet and could see Loc just outside the lift, his hands pressed to his ears as he continued to scream in protest to the noise below.

“LOC!…LOC! Get your arse in here. They need us!”

The creation was like an over sized child. Terrified of what was happening and not paying the hunchback any attention. His eyes were practically bulging out of his sockets, and the screams he made grew louder. There was no time for this. Each second that they lost meant that the Doctor and Narcissa would not be able to make it out of Cardis Tomb alive. The hunchback having no idea what the Doctor had done, or if he or Narcissa were injured.

“LOC! THEY NEED US NOW!” Never before had the hunchback shown such courage under the circumstances. But thankfully, the words he just yelled struck a cord within the massive creature. Even though he himself was terrified, he ambled into the lift, and this was when Igor slammed his hand on the close button. The lift now rocketing down to the special tomb, where all hell had truly broken loose.

Down in the tomb itself, the leader of the undead army was roaring at Narcissa who was doing everything she possibly could to get out of the monster’s reach. The sparks of electricity in behind him were now raining down from above. The smell of burning flesh was stifling to the senses. Being held tightly by the female creation, the Doctor groaned and tried to mumble something, but it was incoherent due to the loud noises of all the creatures breaking free of their cocooned shells. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. The injection of his blood was to be done under controlled conditions. The fact that he did what he did, by practically giving all his blood in one go was a death wish. The reaction by the many creatures was a shocking catalyst. With barely enough energy to open his eyes, the Doctor reached out with his right hand towards the leader of his army.

~ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!~

~Whooosh~ The doors to the lift tore open with Igor gasping at the sight before him. Never…had he seen anything like this before. All the bodies they had harvested for over ten years, all coming to life at once.

“OH GOD!” He screamed, as he then turned to see Narcissa with the Doctor just to the side of the lift entrance. “I got you!”The hunchback clamored out and tried to help Narcissa with the Doctor, to drag him into the lift, when the leader of the army made a swipe for the trio………except…..

“FATHER!!!!” Loc roared, as he threw himself into harms way. Loc’s fist connecting with the undead army leader’s jaw, knocking him back. It was enough to give Igor the chance to help Narcissa and the Doctor…..but at great cost.

“GO!” the creation screamed as the trio were about to be safely inside the lift. Igor couldn’t believe what Loc was doing.“GET IN, LOC!” But instead of getting in, Loc slammed his hand on the lift panel, so that the doors would shut and the three could get away.

The last thing they would see, would be Loc’s determined face….as the undead leader drove his fist right through Loc’s body, ripping out his stitched heart.

“IT’S ALIVE!” – SS.

Scene setting : Hell’s Kitchen.

co-written with Moo & Temp

Moo:  The door to the room burst open at the point of which Igor had just left. Who really knew if the poor fellow would be able to obtain the lightning as quickly as the Doctor wanted. But Narcissa was there for that! “Did I hear lightning?” she asked. Her arm lifted, holding a severed hand, and proceeded to knock on one of the massive bolts protruding from her head. “I can help, Doctor!”
Always the eager one, Narcissa made her way to the pair. “Hi, Roxy!” she greeted with a small wave of the severed hand. Her smile seemed permanent on her face at this point, the lower half of her face completely grayed in comparison to the upper half. Her skin was sewn together with different bodies, calling for different tints of blue, green, and peaches. “Oh!” The severed hand was tossed back without much attention, and a crash could be heard as it landed on some tools. A tilt of the head and she was chuckling to herself.
“I can create the lightning for you, Doctor.” One more attempt to position herself in the shop. She loved company, and who better than her own creator and his friend.

Temp:  There were all sorts of noises bouncing around the Laboratory, most of which would make an average person cringe. However, the individuals within the Lab were anything but average. Roxanne had immediately taken a liking to the sounds within the building ever since her resurrection. Now another creature would be brought to life, but this one was much different from her. The giant being that she was watching being put back together was a soldier, a weapon. Roxanne was a living breathing and ever growing individual. She was alive. The giant was a marvel of scientific knowledge, but it’s purpose was very much a singular one. There was no doubt in her mind that she was unique from this creature, and as such felt no jealous or negativity for it. Though, she did feel a bit bad for Igor. The poor guy was gonna have to get a little crispy in order to bring this creation of Wilhelm’s to life. She waved at him as he walked away, heading up to the tower with his kite. It was kind of cute…in a weird way. Roxanne then turned and looked at Narcissa, greeting her with a sweet smile and a wave from both her hands. “Narnar! Darlin’!” She blew some kisses her way as Narcissa approached, clearly happy to see her. Though, her thoughts were suddenly rattled as the Doctor placed his hands upon her face, making her blush heavily. This kind of attention wasn’t entirely unusual, but it was still something that she didn’t know how to properly react towards. Her hands were placed on top of the Doctors, giving him a very excited nod and look. “Yes…Wilhelm…I’m so glad to be able to experience this with you.” Her mind was on autopilot as far as words and actions were concerned, so hopefully she hadn’t crossed any lines or made the situation awkward for Narcissa.

Razorbackwriter:  Wilhelm lowered his hands, with Roxanne already holding them. For a moment he forgot himself, and then pulled back as Narcissa burst into the room. Eager as to be a part of the experiment. Yes, why didn’t the Doctor think of it before. Electricity was her gig. Not to mention Igor made a lousy conductor. And he smelt odd after a charring. While Roxanne and Narsissa exchanged greetings, the Doctor moved over to the large pull handle, that would lift the slab up to the highest point of the chop shop and allow him to set up the electrodes to the giant to ensure that all harnessed lightning filtered through to his latest creation.

“Narcissa….go up to the tower and assist Igor. Roxanne…get on the platform. We are lifting off.”

Once Roxanne had joined the good doctor the slab would start to raise up off the floor and ascend towards the ceiling, where a large double pair of doors would swing open and from there they could see the night sky, in all its glory. The Doctor had a pair of welding goggles on his head and he lowered them over his eyes, to protect him from the blaze of light that was sure to engulf his creation.

Up on the stair well, Igor was trudging along slowly. Muttering to himself about how much he hated this part of the operation. It didn’t just hurt to be struck by lightning, his hair often permed from the after shocks and it took him weeks to get that frizz out.

Little did he know that Narcissa was going to be helping him….sort of.

Already the sky was filled with blackened clouds. The onset of lightning from a far was now getting closer, as the long rumbles of thunder heralded its imminent arrival.

~RB~

Moo:  “Aye-aye, captain!” Narcissa said with a salute. Seemingly already charged with energy, she would rush out of the room as quickly as she crashed in. The frankensteinian would rush up the stairs, seeing Igor in a matter of moments. “Igore!” she greeted. The hunchback seemed surprised by her presence. One might have thought he would be relieved to see her, but it was quite the opposite.
“Let’s go help the Doctor!” she exclaimed, grabbing the poor man’s hand. She rushed up, practically dragging the fellow along until she reached the top of the tower. The storm could be heard from inside, echoing down the stone walls and steps. Thunder sounded in the distance and Narcissa found herself smiling wider than before. “Perfect timing,” she chanted to herself.

Upon centering herself on the tower, she took Igor’s hand. He looked regretfully to the female monster, barely attempting a smile. “Cheer up, Igor!” she told him. “We get to help Doctor!” A remorseful look would cross his face before lightning struck moments later.
The shrieks echoed over a portion of the city, accompanied by enthusiastic feminine giggles.

Temp:  Roxanne nodded at the Doctor upon receiving the order to join him on the platform. It seemed that the time had come, thanks to Narcissa. She hopped up and onto the platform and stood next to the Doctor, looking up in anticipation. They were all mere moments away from all contributing to the creation of a magnificent creature. The earlier ‘incident’ with Wilhelm was something now in the back of her mind. She was just so excited for this experiment to finally be completed.

Razorbackwriter:  Ever enjoyed fourth of July? Well, Igor and Narcissa were lighting up the sky more so than any fireworks display imaginable. The blast of blue electricity fed down from the pair into the conductors and receivers with massive cracks and jolts as the electricity then headed down the next cable and right into the electrodes that were lined all over the creation’s body. With the goggles on, and Roxanne by his side, the Doctor raised his arms up to the sky and shouted.

“TODAY..TODAY WE WILL BRING THE DEAD BACK….AGAIN…AND AGAIN!” The Doctor cackled with laughter as Igor’s screams continued to ring out through the night. Slowly but surely, the massive surge of electricity was filling the creation that lay tied down to the hoisted slab.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGH!” Igor screamed his hand locked onto that of Narcissa, who was really enjoying being part of the experiment. She was a super conductor and a useful one at that.

A low growl came from the slab, and the Doctor gasped as he looked down and saw the giant’s eyelids start to flutter. The Doctor waved his hand for Narcissa and igor to stop harnessing the lightning, as he took out his stethoscope and placed it to the giant’s chest. A beat….then another….then ANOTHER. The Doctor rose slowly and his face was riddled with the biggest smile you had ever seen.

“IT’S ALIVE…..IT’S ALIVE!”

Wilhelm grabbed Roxanne’s forehead and kissed it.

“MWAH!” You could tell he was pretty happy about it.

~RB~

Moo:  Narcissa’s body lit up in the places where metal decorated her skin. Blue charges were rather apparent while she stood still, holding her arm up to the air. She was grinning, perfectly still. The electricity flowing through her body would amount to nothing more than small tickles and tingles. Poor Igor on the other hand was dealing with full impact. His body shook violently while he shrieked, hair frizzing out to its maximum length. The sight was pretty comedic on its own!
The female monster looked down in time to see the Doctor wave at her. The conductors had apparently done their job, just as she had! She laughed as she lowered her arm and rushed down the stairs to escape the lightning. Igor dragged along, still experiencing after shock while his feet thumped down the stairs, sliding–falling, sliding–falling. Her strength would help him stay upright, however.
Upon entering the room once more, the doctor was crying out, rejoicing. Narcissa laughed and applauded happily in the background while Roxy’s forehead was kissed in celebration. “Yay, Doctor! You did it!”

Temp:  Roxanne and Wilhelm continued to ascend on the platform while Narcissa and Igor dealt with the lightning situation. She couldn’t help but laugh as she witnessed Igor get zapped. All his hair was frizzing like crazy, and somehow reminded her of a poodle. Her body wiggled in excitement as the electricity flowed through the creature. The Doctors excited words and actions were doing wonders in adding more fun to the scene.“ARIIIIIIIIISE!” She wiggled her hands at the creature as the lightning kept streaming into it, as if he would have some sort of effect. Eventually the lighting stopped just shortly after a growling sound was heard from the creature. The Doctor was quick to check for signs of life from it, and sure enough…he found it. He shouted in pure joy that it was now alive, and even went and kissed her on the forehead in celebration. Her cheeks were quick to redden, but it wouldn’t stop her from hopping up and down in joy.“WE DID IT WE DID IT!!!!” What a magnificent day this was turning out to be!

Razorbackwriter:  Through the combined efforts of all in the lab, the giant upon the slab was now growling fiercely. Its fingers twitching beneath the restraints. Eyes of fire now stared out and around at its surroundings. Both the Doctor and Roxanne were dancing and jumping about as the slab started to lower back down to the ground of the lab. Meanwhile, Narcissa was dragging Igor’s smoking body back down the stairs. You would think he was a golly wog by the way he appeared. His face black and his hair all frizzy and standing on end. Smoke was still coming out off of his clothes and he groaned weakly as the others celebrated. The slab landed with a heavy thud back on the main floor of the lab, and the Doctor immediately started checking vital signs and getting read outs from his computers. All of which were offering perfect analysis of the creature. It was a little too early to release the restraints, as the Doctor had not yet given the okay to Roxanne, but it was only a matter of time.

Tearing off his goggles, and tossing them onto a work bench, he then started to strip off his lab coat which revealed a tailored suit underneath.

“Narcissa….Igor…Roxanne. To celebrate our triumph I am taking you all…out for dinner. Maybe dancing.”

Igor let out a little yay, before falling backwards and landing with a light oomph on the floor. Some smelling salts and he would be right as rain.

“I ….know this little club that do a fabulous buffet. The House of Red Velvet. Get your best frocks on, my dears.”

Science fiction – SS.

Scene setting : Hell’s Kitchen, the Lab.

co-written with Temp & Moo.

Temp:  Roxanne placed the severed limbs of bodies in bins which were labeled, keeping track of how many she placed. She didn’t want to reach for an arm and pull out a thigh which was the reasoning behind keeping limbs organized. Her mind and body were both so consumed in dancing and dismembering that she didn’t notice the Doctors violent outburst. In fact, she was completely tuned out from the world around her, only hearing the music and only seeing the corpses. As soon as the song ended she snapped out of it, now taking the Doctors words in. She was glad he liked the song that she had chosen, and looked over at him, offering a satisfied smile. “It makes me feel all giddy and alive! Plus, I seem to cut up bodies really well while listening to it!” There was a rather large amount of limbs in the different labeled bins already. She had worked really quickly and efficiently during the duration of that song. It took a moment to register just how messy the Doctors work station was, which wasn’t exactly unusual, but it seemed…different somehow. Instead of giving it any sort of deep thought, she looked away and started to get back to work. These limbs weren’t going to cut themselves!

Razorbackwriter:  Thankfully, Roxanne took no real notice of the Doctor’s violent attack on the head of the orc. Just as well, for he really didn’t want to go into the reason why. The past…was the past. Igor took out a small dust pan and brush, and came up alongside the doctor and started to sweep up the small shattered parts of the Orc’s skull, every now and then glancing up and giving a sympathetic nod. He knew….oh yes, he knew.

It was surprising just how many body parts they had in the chop shop and with Roxanne’s efficiency they were processing and putting the body bits, limbs and innards into the right piles for catalogue. One might ask, what was the point in all this? Surely orcs and dark elves were not going to walk in the door and ask for a replacement arm….or leg. The truth of the matter however was far more interesting.

The Doctor had for the longest time been thinking of how to utilize the dead bodies for something far more lucrative, than just being a spare parts shop. Long lonely nights in his tower, he had ideas. Grand visions of what would be the perfect product to sell to the Princes of Hell. What did every Kingdom need…and had trouble obtaining after a war such as the one at Wrath?

A new army. Scientifically enhanced, and made from the body parts of the fallen. Yes, the dead rising again….and again to serve their Masters. Question was, had the Doctor started on what would be the Ultimate fighting machine? If one was to look at the large sheet covered creature in the main part of the Hospital to see that his greatest experiment may soon come to life. All he needed was a bolt of lightning…..and a good brain.

Turning to his dancing assistant, Roxanne, the Doctor asked;

“Any….royals or…dead knights in amongst that lot?”

~RB~

Temp:  Roxanne looked over at the doctor upon hearing him speak. “Royalty or Knights? I’ll look through the pile!” She skipped over to where the bodies were being kept, and began to rummage through them. There were all sorts of ways to determine whether or not a body belonged to someone of importance, it was just a matter of knowing where to look. While looking through the bodies she searched for brands as well as insignias, which would be the most reliable way to determine importance. Eventually she found a rather powerful looking demon, of course…he was now dead. Regardless, he had a branding and Insignia behind his ears that belonged to Greed. From what she could gather, this was one of the royal guard. “How bout’ a royal guard? In good condition might I add!” She shouted as she stood up and out of the pile of corpses, holding the body of the royal guard in the air above her.

Razorbackwriter:  “How bout’ a royal guard? In good condition might I add!”

Roxanne was quick to find a suitable candidate for the Doctor’s latest experiment, as she hoisted the body of a royal guard high above her head whilst standing upon the pile of other bodies. Though bloody, it was clear this was one of Wrath’s own guards, and Wilhelm could not help but smirk.

“Perfect! Good strong bloodline. They are picky about their guards. Bring him down, Roxanne.” The Doctor ordered, as he waved his hand for Igor to follow. Igor dropped off the last body onto the sorting table, and then ambled after his Master, every so often, he would shoot a disdainful look back at Roxanne. He just found her to be too bouncy for the Lab, which he believed should be a much more serious kind of place. As he shuffled along, Igor asked; “Why a royal guard and not some other stiff, Master?” He was curious as to the Doctor’s reasoning.

Doctor Wilhelm shrugged his shoulders lightly, and said in reply. “Because, I need the brain of one that is well trained in the arts of battle, quick off the mark. Dependable.”

“Yes…but this one is dead, He can’t of been very good now can he?” The humpback had a point, but this was when the Doctor explained about the war. “You are always going to have victims on both sides of such a conflict. Maybe he died defending the Princess….who knows? Now, let’s get to work.”

Reaching the shrouded body which was his latest experiment, he ripped the sheet back, to reveal a giant of a man. So large that one had to wonder just what he was. He barely fit on the table. The face was covered in scars and his eyes stared out blindly at the room. There was no heart beat. He…like most other things…was dead. The Doctor stroked the giant’s face gently, like a father to a son.

“Isn’t he a beauty?”

“Err…you’re kidding right?” the hunchback said, trying not to throw up in his mouth.

~RB~

Temp:
Roxanne wasted no time, and immediately followed the Doctors orders. She hopped out of the pile of bodies and skipped along with the body, following Wilhelm and Igor. The looks she was often given by Igor didn’t quite compute with her, almost as if she couldn’t see them. Perhaps it was just because she didn’t really care about what others thought about her. Regardless, she placed the body of the guard onto a table near the shrouded body. She hadn’t quite gotten a good look at this experiment, but was excited nonetheless. Once the sheet was removed she gave the creature a good look, almost like she was entranced. “Ohhhh myyyy…he looks amazing Doc!” She simply couldn’t help herself, and started bouncing around the table, examining the creature thoroughly. It was not yet alive, but she had a feeling that would soon change. The Doctor really was a genius.

Razorbackwriter:  “He is, isn’t he?” The Doctor enthused, still stroking the giant’s cheek slowly. Caressing it even. Igor couldn’t see the attraction. Roxanne’s enthusiasm was always welcomed, since Igor was not as jovial in spirit. Getting the two bodies ready, the Doctor snapped on his rubber gloves and then headed for a large trolley – where he flipped back the blue sheet to uncover a bevy of knives, scalpels, hammers and other surgical tools to be used in the delicate operation. In the background, many of the electrical support system switches were being turned on by Igor and the machines buzzed shrilly in the foreground.

The Doctor passed his ipod docking station and pressed play to his favorite song.

The slab filled with music as the Doctor nudged Roxanne to get with the program. “Be ready to catch the brains, and then we do the switch.” He ordered, as he started to make an incision into the head of the royal guard of Wrath. Slicing all the way around, he then took out an electric saw, and started to cut the skull open to make a perfect entrance point to harvest the guard’s brain. His foot tapped along in time to the music, while igor kept a good eye…his only good eye on the machines, and the weather forecast. You see, the Doctor needed a thunderstorm in order to finish the experiment. Lightning being the key ingredient. Scooping out the royal guard’s brain, he then passed it to his busty Nurse, Roxanne and mouthed.

“Keep it safe, Roxy!”

Moving to the giant, it was good to see, he had already made incisions and all he had to do was snap off the top of the giant’s skull. A large scooper and he took out the giant’s brain, which he tossed into the nearest garbage can. In his mind, he didn’t think it would ever be needed, not even in an orc.

Pulling up a small swivel chair, and flicking down his headband flashlight, he gestured for Roxanne to place the brain inside the empty skull of the giant, so that he could do the micro surgery needed to rewire the brain to the giant’s head. It would be painstaking, and delicate – but the Doctor was a perfectionist and he was certain that this new breed of super soldier would be a hit with the Princes of hell.

Temp:  Roxanne was eager to get started on this little experiment, and was rather curious as to what the Doctor had in mind. She watched him, completely in awe, as he began to get to work. She was ready for anything at this point. There wasn’t much that she could do at the moment, until of course she was ordered to catch some brains. Her body bounced back and forth as she held out her hands as if she was ready to catch a football. Of course, it wasn’t actually thrown at her. The brain was taken into her hands once it was passed to her, and she held it in anticipation. The brain was placed into the skull of the giant creature upon being given the order. There was no way she was going to miss out on this, and so she sat herself down on a nearby chair. Her gaze would not leave the Doctor and the Giant, as is she was completely entranced by it.

Razorbackwriter:  Transfixed by his work, the Doctor continued on. Painstakingly putting back together the nerve ends that would attach the new brain to the dead tissue of the giant before him. Roxanne was a treasure in the way she kept in close, but not to close to bump or knock the Doctor as he worked. Those breasts did have a habit of being bouncy at the wrong times, and knocking over everything from test tubes to Igor if his hump got in the way. The operation would continue on for a few hours more. Perfection could not be rushed, and the Doctor was….a perfectionist when it came to his work. This giant was the prototype of what would be many. His dreams to create a super army was so tantalizingly close, he could almost taste it.

Finally, the Doctor sat back and then reached for the staple gun, as he place the skull fragment back over the spot where he had put the new brain in. The constant ~whack whack whack~ sound of the metal staple being fired into the giant’s skull would echo through the room, till at last the Doctor set down the staple gun and then ripped off his mask.

“Now….Igor. Go up to the north tower and…..fly a kite.”

Igor looked at the doctor strangely, as he thought this was a bad time to be taking recreational leave to…fly a kite.

“Why Master?”

The Doctor turned around and got up off his stool, to walk to one of the other benches, where there was a kite and a key tied to the end of it. He handed it to Igor and patted his hump. “You are going to catch me some lightning.” the Doctor said with a quirky smirk. Igor gasped at the thought. “But I’ll get zapped.” He was not liking this part of the operation at all.

“Just a little bit. Now go!….NOW!”

“Yes….Master.” Igor said wearily, as he trudged off to the tower, his face saddened by the fact the Doctor wanted him to be the lightning catcher.

With him gone, the Doctor tore off his gloves and then cupped Roxanne’s face.

“In just a few hours….we…will have made history.”

What killed Rory? – GS

Scene setting : Detective Frank Malone’s apartment.

co-written with VunG.

Razorbackwriter:  Frank had turned as white as a sheet, his hand gripping his desk chair to steady himself after the fright of seeing what was on the photograph. It wasn’t like anything Tommy had seen before, unless you counted the types of beasts that were on the World of Warcraft game. But that was fiction. How could a beast or creature like this be in New York city? While Frank was hyperventilating from shock, Elissa was signing so incredibly fast that it was hard for Tommy to keep up with her. From the frantic hand gestures and the look of horror on her face, it was pretty clear that the former SWAT officer was totally freaking out. With both his companions going bananas, someone had to be a man of reason and calm – though the picture completely defied all logic.

“Give me the envelope, Frank.” Tommy insisted, as he was trying to see if whoever sent the photos had left a return address. Turning the yellow envelope over he saw that there was no return address…but there was a postal stamp on the front that showed that the photos had been sent from the city post office. Frank was still shocked, and Tommy now asked the big question. “Frank…..is this the thing that killed Rory?”

All the blood had drained from Frank’s face as the memory of that night came flooding back.

~Flash back~

The detectives had been on a stake out for the case against Joey Patona, and had been parked in a dark alley not far from Joey’s apartment. He was under surveillance after he had been a witness to the east side Brankston murders and was still considered a suspect but there wasn’t enough evidence to incriminate him. Rory had been drinking way too many Red bulls to keep awake and said that he was going to go and take a piss, down past one of the dumpsters.

“Why don’t you just use the super slurpee cup, Rory?’ Frank said, shaking the near empty cup at his partner, who just took one look at it and scoffed. “Cause I piss more than that cup can hold, Frank. Be right back.” Getting out of the car, he shut the door and then headed back down the alley till he found a spot behind the large industrial dumpster where there was a bit of privacy. As he unzipped, there was a massive growl that came from the shadows near the ACME #36 Warehouse. A long loud rumbling sound as though something heavy was being dragged along the road. Rory raised his head in the direction of the sound, and squinted to try and see through the darkness. “Must be seeing things. I thought red bull gave you wings, not made you hallucinate.” Rory mumbled this outloud, before there was a massive roar in behind him.

~ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!~ The beast, or mammoth worm like slug reared up behind where Rory stood, and it was right as Rory was releaving himself. “ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGH! Rory screamed in terror, loud enough for Frank to hear the cries. Frank dropped his coffee in his lap, scalding himself, before trying to get out of the cop car. It was only as he alighted, that he saw the massive shadow of the beast looming over Rory. Frank reached for his gun and pointed it at the beast, but it was too late, the worm like beast bit into Frank practically swallowing him up to his stomach. Frank fired two shots at the creature, which was like throwing pebbles at an elephant. Rory’s screams died away as the last part of him was eaten by the creature. Blinded by horror and rage, Frank ran at the beast, screaming and firing his gun but the beast slid off down the alley and then vanished into an abandoned warehouse. Like it had gone through some type of portal.

“RORY!”

~End flashback~

“Frank?…..Frank?” Tommy grabbed a hold of Frank’s shoulders and shook him. “Was that what took your partner?”Slowly, Frank uttered. “Y.yyyyesss.”

It was almost too incredulous to believe, but the fact that Frank had been sent the pictures meant one thing. Someone saw it too, and witnessed the murder of Rory Lismore. This was evidence, but they needed more than just some photographs. They needed to go back to the crime scene and retrace Frank’s steps. Tommy let go of his friend, and said.“In the morning we are going back to the alley where this happened, and see who lives near that spot. We need the witness.” Frank kept quiet. Was it possible the witness….was also a criminal? The one that Frank and Rory were staking out?

Tommy turned to Elissa and asked. “You want in on this? I can take you home and pick you up in the morning. No point searching that alley in the dark.”

VunG:  Elissa wasn’t a coward, she’d bumrushed men with assault rifles and semi-automatic shotguns before. She’d personally taken down drug lords and mobsters. There were many things that she was more than capable of coping with… but what she couldn’t handle was what she couldn’t understand. And that creature that was in those pictures was something that defied everything she knew about the world. If it had just been something in the jungle was one thing, if it had just been a hideous monstrosity sure, but this was something that was hiding out in the heart of New York city! How in the world was this even possible?!

At about the time that Frank began going into his flashback she would slowly begin coming back to the land of the living, her breathing coming back under control as she rubbed her sore neck, approaching the boys as Tommy tried to pry an answer out of his friend. Leaning up against the desk as she tried to get some color into her cheeks, she watched Tommy drag the truth out of Frank, somewhat forcefully… she was almost hoping that it was just a hoax picture. But… her heart sank and she damn near fell to her knees as she heard the confirmation, only staying up thanks to her arm propping her in place.

Rubbing her temples with frustration as the others considered this, she tried to comprehend the fact that they were going to basically have to trace down an entirely new organism. This wasn’t good… and it seemed to be a snake in form… what the fuck were they going to find of this aberration, its droppings?! Sighing with frustration, she would listen to Tommy give his plan, beginning to pace back and forth with her damaged hand on her chin, debating whether or not she would just be a fifth wheel at this point. However, when he offered her directly, she’d turn and look him squarely in the eye, and she found herself strangely reassured by the fact that this reporter was so brave in the face of this job. Yeah, she wasn’t about to get showed up by a guy whose most dangerous weapon is a microphone. Immediately her expression turned to one of determination and she nodded her confirmation, cracking her neck briefly before adding with a grim smile, ~I wasn’t planning to live forever anyways.~

However, just as she was about to walk forward and join them in planning, her phone began vibrating angrily as several messages came flooding in simultaneously. Frowning with confusion, she pulled it out and checked one of them… and her eyes would widen with horror as she locked on what she was seeing. She had a fair number of associates in the private detective business, and as a part of the local business’ network of favors they’d all agreed to send each other tips of anything that might be a lucrative job… or a dangerous one. Placing a hand over her eyes with frustration, she offered the phone over to the others with her free one, letting them look. On it, were a flurry of images sent from her many acquaintances showing images of a particular school in the city… or rather what had once been a school. Yeah… they might have other problems on hand.

Razorbackwriter:  With Elissa agreeing to come along with Tommy, the reporter had his mind set on heading home after dropping her off and getting a few hours sleep. Well, that was the plan. With Elissa commenting that she didn’t plan on living forever, which seemed a touch morbid in the light of things, Tommy was about to turn when Elissa’s phone vibrated. Maybe her man was wondering where she was. But it was how Elissa responded to the messages on her screen that had both Tommy and Frank curious. She handed over the phone to Tommy, who stared at the images of what was a school. It looked like it had been hit by an earth quake, or something of a destructive nature. A bomb blast? There was too much damage for a single blast. “The hell?” Tommy blurted. Frank, on the other hand knew the school. “I had a step brother who went there. Looks like a war zone.” With Elissa being in the private detective business, this was clearly a lead to work, but with the current mystery of what the hell it was that took Rory, and now this, it was clear that something was going to have to wait. A school is a place for children and if there was something there, that was in anyway linked to Rory’s murder, it needed to be investigated. Frank, was now sobering up thanks to his rotten coffee. He pocketed the photographs in the envelope to bring along with him, but made up his mind that he was not going to be left behind.

“I know where this school is. Tommy, Elissa….we need to get there and check this out.” The detective said with a firm nod of his head. “I’ll get my partner to meet us there. By the looks of things, the authorities haven’t been informed. If we hurry we could be the first on the scene…..aside from your mates that took these pictures, Elissa.” Tommy looked at Frank with concern.

“But what about the alley and the warehouse?” He asked, since he was keen to check that out as well. Frank gave a light shrug. “So we pull an all niter. First things first. The school.”

If Elissa agreed to come along, the trio would leave Frank’s apartment and head for Tommy’s car.

~RB~

VunG:  Their words basically summed up Elissa’s thoughts on the matter, the whole place looked like something that had been hit by a bomb. Yet the damage looked so localized; there were other bits, sure, but the local buildings only were undamaged for the most part from the looks of things, even by debris. Truth be told, she didn’t know what was more valuable in the hunt for Rory, but she was pretty certain that the person that had sent the envelope wasn’t going anywhere and this location was as fresh as things got. She wasn’t too certain what would cause such destruction, but if it was anything like the creature that had taken Rory then this was going to need some sort of serious coverage by detectives to catch whoever or whatever did this. She still wasn’t convinced on the supernatural aspect, but she damn well believed that something REALLY out of the normal was going on.

When Frank volunteered them for this duty, she couldn’t help but agree with every word leaving his mouth; she knew damn well that if they could be the first on the scene then this whole mess could be theirs to put under control rather than the politicians running the NYPD. She shuddered at the thought of doing an all-nighter, but if that was the way it had to be, then so be it. Hopefully the NYPD would be okay with her being there, not that she doubted that, and hopefully none of her more unscrupulous colleagues would cause damage to the site. Grabbing what was left of her coffee, she gulped it all down in one go, wincing afterwards and letting out a breathed grunt before nodding for them to lead the way, adding as they went, ~Tommy drives.~
