Never knew love could be like this – GS.

Dinner is a huge success, not only because of its good taste, but because it has brought our couple; Tommy and Elissa closer together….

Scene setting – Tommy’s apartment – Gantz series.

Co-written with VunG.

VunG:  Elissa snickered a little at his response, wiggling her nose to his poke and shrugging a little conceding the point. Really, she was thinking more about his tastes when she said ‘fancy,’ but he had a point; he was about as elegant as a demolition derby. Still as entertaining as one though. Regardless, she went ahead and took a seat, flashing him a grin while she got herself situated, leaning back with a relaxed grin while she watched him work within the kitchen. There was a strange peaceful joy in watching him go about such work–she didn’t know why but there was just some tame part of her that enjoyed watching her man do something simple like this. The food smelled absolutely tantalizing even from here–she couldn’t remember the last time she had Thai food, if at all, but it seemed absolutely awesome even from a distance. At one point she would notice the chocolates and roses and promptly smiled at the gesture, assuming that he had meant to give them to her (or share in the chocolates’ case) and had simply forgotten. She’d comment later… right now she didn’t want to interrupt him.

When he finally got over, the candles all set up, the rather nice-looking wine set up, the food before them, the lovely soft glow. Wow… he’d really gone all the way with this private setting. It really was quite romantic, and she found herself blushing at the fact that he’d gone through all this effort for her.

When he raised his glass, she gladly acted in kind, a charming smile on her face as she looked back at him then took a sip of the wine. It was quite good actually, she generally preferred the sweeter wines to dry ones, and this was a wonderful example. High quality, relatively speaking, assuming her taste hadn’t gone stale. It would be clear from the look on her face she was pleased with the wine, but then when she took her first bite of the curry, she would positively light up. It was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! She loved spicy food, but with that in mind she needed something to have flavor as well as spice rather than just be burning hot–Tabasco sauce, I’m looking at you. This stuff was perfect! It may have been a rush job, but she couldn’t tell–he might as well have spent the entire time since leaving her house making it, for all she knew. After she finished two or three bites she would happily tell him, ~Amazing job, darling! That shouty British asshole would be green with envy.~

Razorbackwriter:  Tommy had been watching for Elissa’s reaction to his cooking. Would it be to her palate? He himself had taken two bites, and managed to get the taste just right in his mind. His mother would be proud. The corners of Tommy’s mouth crept upward when he watched Elissa sign that she felt he had done an amazing job in cooking. That the shouty British asshole would be green with envy. It was a green Thai curry that they were enjoying, and the puns were not lost on the cheeky reporter. As he swallowed another mouthful, he chuckled to himself.

“Well love, I don’t swear as much as that bloke in the kitchen. Also…I’m better looking.” Tommy gave Elissa wink before taking another forkful of curry and rice. He was hungry, and had a real appetite for this kind of food. So much like his Mother’s style. She loved everything with spice and chili. “Would you believe I did this in half an hour….AND had a shower.” If Tommy was showing off, he was being a bit of a wag about it.

In between bites, Tommy offered Elissa the condiments and then topped up her wine. He was trying to keep the dinner conversation light and free from the stress and dramas that they had been through up to this point. Last thing that Elissa needed was a recap on the Fluffy princess, or the dramas surrounding Frank and those pictures. In the back of his mind, he still had the worry of Madame Rose Li and what she had done in relation to the Commander and his schemes. Truth was, Tommy didn’t know who was worse, but he did know that Madame Rose rarely let go of something that she wanted. She acted selfishly, always. Regardless of who would pay the price. As for Tamika, well….Tommy didn’t think it was wise to bring her up. He’d arrange to go and get his key back off her probably in a few days, rather than add acid to an open wound.

By the end of his meal, Tommy was lapping up the sauce with a piece of naan bread and popping it into his mouth. He was stuffed. Eating way too much and pushed himself back in his chair and patted his stomach.

“See, the good thing about dining here is….there are no interruptions, and if you wanted to….hmm, enjoy some more nocturnal pursuits, the bed is not far away.” Tommy leaned back and stretched his arms back over his head and inhaled deeply. You could see his shirt tighten over his athletic frame, and as the bottom of his shirt rose up at the front, there was a hint of hair that was just peeking out shy of his jeans.

VunG:  Elissa snickered at his assurance that he was, if nothing else, better looking than Ramses, and would grin and nod her agreement there. Tom was better than most models she’d seen, much less that old fart. In all seriousness though, this food was delicious, and she was pretty darn hungry, especially for something more filling than this. When he said this had only taken a half hour, she would quite nearly choke on her wine and look at him with shock, then down to the food, then back at him. ~Bullshit,~she declared with a smile. She didn’t actually think he was lying, but she really didn’t think that something this nice would take so short a time.

As they ate, she would of course happily chat with him about minor, unimportant things, gladly taking the offered wine; actually, she probably drank a little more than he did, even if it wasn’t all that much. It was nice to just be able to enjoy each other’s company in a private setting like this. No drama, no worries, no work, just them chatting about the nicer things in life. Forget about that pig-headed goat-loving piece of shit, forget about aliens and such stupidity, just Elissa and the man that she was beginning to suspect she was falling for.

Elissa, like Tommy, overate a bit, though she ate less than him–proportions are an important detail. Letting out a content sigh, she slouched a little in her seat, one hand resting on her belly while the other lifted her wine up to her lips happily. She would bring her gaze down to Tommy at his comment, an amused grin on her face in regards to his desire to get dirty again, though nodding her agreement to all of his words. Actually, she had been kind of thinking about letting their food settle, but now that her eyes traced over his body, the way that the shirt hugged his body, the way that his jeans were sitting so low on him… hrmm… it definitely made her feel a little hot. She was actually in a similar situation; her dress wasn’t exactly loose-fitting and now that she was slightly plumped with food it certainly was showing her off a fair bit too. Still… she liked the atmosphere… hrmm… ~’Twould be a shame to waste the atmosphere though…~ she commented thoughtfully, looking at the candles before leaning towards him, a slight sparkle in her eyes, ~Perhaps we should take them with us.~

Razorbackwriter:  Elissa’s face flushed ever slightly, and she too had that post dinner belly. The kind you get when you really enjoy a meal. To rush off and try anything bedroom related was a bit premature especially on Tommy’s part. He had set the atmosphere to be one that was romantic yet casual, and Elissa was drinking this in. She was enjoying it, and wasn’t that reward enough? Tommy smiled at her when she shared that she would hate to see it all be wasted.

“Of course, Bad Tommy just thinking naughty things again.” The Reporter kept up his smile as he shared his joke. He agreed they could take it with them, but he knew it would be better if they let their food settle.

Looking at the remaining curry and plates, Tommy slowly pushed himself to standing and started to clear away the table. He’d make a few trips, but each time being sure to brush his hand along her shoulder each time he passed, be it to get the crockery, or the dishes. Elissa looked so beautiful by the lights of the candles, and the soft sultry music kept giving him ideas again, which he was quick to quash. From the kitchen he started to speak more freely, with the sounds of scraping plates, and then him opening up the dishwasher.

“Been a crazy week for us, hasn’t it?”

He was referring to the whole incident with Fluffy Princess, and of course the fact that they had enjoyed each other’s company. Tommy never usually spent the night with anyone. A one night stand and he was gone before morning. That was the usual thing. Tamika pushed for more with Tommy, but he always kept her at arms length. She’d continue to think that if she did things for him…anything that he would relent.

With the leftovers in the fridge, and the dishwasher humming softly, Tommy came out and turned off the kitchen light. As he came past Elissa he reached for her hand. “Care to join me on the couch?’ It was not that far across the room, and if she accepted, he would lead her across, so that they could sit in the corner together. He noticed that the dress she was wearing was pulling a little, and he chuckled to himself.

“Someone was hungry.” A boyish tone to his voice. “You know…I wanted to talk to you about…us.” He had told the others that he considered them to be a proper couple, but he hadn’t given her the chance to express if that is what she truly wanted. “I know you’d rather take things slow, and if that’s the case…then I would be more than happy to go along with that. So long as I have you in my life.”

He brushed her hair back away from her face as he stared into her eyes.

~RB~

VunG:  Elissa smiled at his sort-of apology, rolling her eyes at the fact that he hadn’t entirely picked up on the hint she was dropping. That said, it was probably smart to at least wait for their food to disappear–no swimming for thirty minutes, and a little time before sex she supposed. Still she would reassure him with a smirk, ~Not bad, just hasty.~ Truth be told, as she heard more and more of the music, she too couldn’t help but feel herself getting thoughts as well, and honestly she wasn’t certain if she should cling to them or just let them slide away. As he went about getting the food picked up, she’d at least help hand them over, and every time his hand touched her she had to admit that she felt a bit of a blush coming to her cheeks.

The crazy week comment would make her cough a little, looking to him with a smirk, knowing just what he meant. ~That’s putting it mildly.~ she responded with a smirk. She… wasn’t the sort of person who just let anyone get in bed with her most of the time. Granted, she wasn’t a prude, but she was generally just not the sort of person to form attachments, but at the same time she liked to at least know the person she went to bed with. This thing with Tommy was… strange… she didn’t know what to do with it. Oh, and there was also aliens of at least two different types, collapsing schools, getting shot, and goat-fucking. But who wanted to think about those?

As he came over after handling dishes, she would already be scooting herself out in anticipation for his next question, and would gladly take his hand as they walked over. She would gladly sit with him in the corner, leaning into him with a content smile as they settled in together. His prod at her belly got her to roll her eyes and jab him lightly in the ribs with her elbow, but otherwise she’d let it go. She’d already discovered that, of Tommy’s big draws, tact wasn’t really one of them. However… then he stepped into a subject which was a bit more important… their relationship. As he spoke she bit her lip a little in thought, trying to figure out what she wanted out of this. He said she wanted to go slow, but really she wasn’t certain if that was the case–it was certainly what she had been suggesting and even stating, but…

No… as she stared back at him, the soft romantic light illuminating his beautiful face as they gazed at each other she knew that any hope of this going slow would be stifling rather than what it was meant to be. Smiling softly, she brought her hand up to his, leaning her head into it for a moment. Then, she brought her hands back together to sign with a tender expression, ~The more I think about it, the more I think I was probably too quick on the trigger before. I don’t want it to go slow, nor do I want it fast or medium.~ She paused and briefly tried to lean in as if she would whisper before frowning at her own muteness and just saying with a smile to him, ~I just want us to be together.~ Well, she’d said it, she’d agreed with him, she’d confessed something that was clearly feelings to him–well, no going back now. Banzai! Forward Christian soldiers! For Narnia! Et cetera. And, assuming he had no complaints about that, she would then lean in towards him and plant a kiss on his lips. It was passionate, but she wasn’t forceful or even all that lustful… she was just kissing him softly, as someone that she was beginning to realize that she cared deeply about.

Razorbackwriter:  Nothing was more sexually appealing to Tommy then when he watched Elissa bite that bottom lip of hers. It made him want to bite it..chew it. Just plain enjoy it between his teeth. Tommy found himself staring at her, almost breathless when she placed her hand over his own. The night that they had spent together, and that moment when he blurted out that he was falling for her, left them both with mixed ideas of what each other wanted. Now it was time to clear the air, and get down to how they truly felt about each other. With a soft smile, Elissa explained that she may have been too quick to be dismissive of Tommy’s feelings. But what got him confused, was when she said that she didn’t want to go slow…or fast or medium for that matter.

“Then what speed?” Tommy was getting all these signals, and they were ones that she did want him, or at least that is what her body language was saying. It was due to her muteness that she was trying to convey her real feelings and this made it a bit awkward as he stared at her questioningly. Then at last….she said it.

~I just want us to be together~

To Tommy it was like the fourth of July. The feeling of euphoria that built up within him and now exploded as she admitted that she did want to be with him. Romantically…or however he wanted. Before Tommy could speak, or utter a word, though his face was one of pride and love for her now, Elissa kissed him. Bringing home everything…all at once. It was there. Not lust, not need….just love. Tommy put his hands to her cheeks, and kissed her back in the most gentle way he could. The bond between them solidifying right there, as the pair were both on the same page.

Tommy only broke the kiss, so that he could say what his heart was already telling him.

“You’ve just made me the happiest man alive.” His fingers caressing her cheeks, as he locked eyes with her. The music continued to play in the background, and with the candle light and the faded memories of the delicious meal, this was the perfect evening. No interruptions, no craziness. Just two people sitting on a couch, sharing their love for the other.

~RB~

VunG:  Elissa may have been a touch nervous about saying what she did out loud… well… in broad sight. But seeing the look on Tommy’s face when she told him how she felt… oh that was all the answer she needed. Seeing him so happy, so thrilled by their mutual feelings, it made her feel like she could fly. And as she kissed, she felt an old, long forgotten, shriveled up feeling beginning to blossom once again, her hands going behind his neck and resting there while she relished in this beautiful. tender moment between them. It was unquestionable now; they were a couple, and something inside her told her that it was a relationship to last for a long, long time.

When he broke the kiss to tell her his thoughts, she immediately blushed like a young school girl, smiling softly as she returned his gaze. This was a perfect moment; the music, the soft ambient glow, the tender touching… this was all she could ever want right now. Her own fingers slightly squeezed in something resembling a hug, trying to return the sentiment without breaking this embrace. Slowly she brought her legs to lay across his and scooted closer to him, not really trying to do anything sensual, just trying to get closer to this wonderful man. Right now, she just wanted the time to be about them, and nobody else. She didn’t care if they just laid there together, if they decided to watch a movie, or if they wound up in bed once more… but she didn’t want this feeling to leave. If they laid here, she wanted the companionship, if they watched a movie it damn well better be a romance, if they wound up in bed she didn’t want a wild romp this time… she wanted something tender and real.

Old McDonald had a goat? – GS.

The fluffy alien with an insatiably curious mind was causing all sorts of chaos, as the four tried to answer her questions.  Of course, the guys had other more pressing matters to attend to.  The package that had the dirt on the Commander for one.  Would Frank use it in a bid to clear his name?  Read on and find out.

Scene setting – Elissa’s apartment : Gantz Series.

Co-written with Temp, Chor and VunG.

Temp:  Xillia looked back and forth between the humans as they reacted to her little ‘show’. The explanations that she received about breasts were very interesting to say the least, and more or less made perfect sense. It seemed as though human males were quite fond of these things, which was also common among her people. She couldn’t help but smile as she analyzed Frank and Tommy’s reactions to her exposure. “I see! So they are important among you as well! I’m glad mine are to your liking!” Of course, she didn’t quite understand that any of these humans were ‘romantically involved’ with each other. In fact, she didn’t even know what romance was. Breeding was a common practice among her people, but love and things of that nature weren’t really present. From her perspective, if two beings found each other desirable for procreation then they would engage in a mating ritual. She didn’t expect that from these humans though, as they seemed to already both have mating partners. “I wonder what it would be like to mate with a human…am I too large for that?” Probably. It was unfortunate that it was an experience she would likely miss out on, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. “Well, never mind that…I’m grateful for the information you’ve shared with me.” She bowed her head towards them all in a sign of appreciation. There was still a great deal that she wanted to learn about the humans and their culture, but there was no need to rush.

Chor:  Despite her best efforts, it seemed Isolde still was the odd one out – continuously proving she wasn’t quite capable of functioning in society without making a fool of herself. She bit down on her tongue. For most of the rest of the conversation she focused solely on running her fingers along and scoping out the terrain of her left clavicle, the bone jagged where she’d been injured a few years back. When it seemed the conversation was dying down, Isa chimed in once more.

Also, they are not only for ogling by suitors; many females utilize them to feed their young,” she spoke, a little more reserved than the original vigor of her earlier statement. She was glad to be able to be the one providing information for this alien species who was so very interested in human nature. It was almost an honor. No one has done this before; that has been recorded…

It’s my pleasure.

VunG:  The guys’ reactions were… well Elissa couldn’t say what she’d expected, but they sure as heck weren’t too far out of the ordinary. Frank’s reaction was… well pretty much what she’d imagine a horny Frank to look like: goofy, inelegant, and comically ridiculous. As for Tommy though, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride as he struggled between the alien’s huge knockers and eventually settled on hers, assuring her that hers were ‘perfect.’ It got a smile out of her, and while it was kind of silly that he was struggling between her and a twelve foot tall fluffy alien, she knew that men had pretty bad times trying not to look at anything that shoot a rack their way. Reaching across the table, she grabbed a napkin and wiped at his nose, giving him a coy grin before turning her attention back to the alien.

Jeeze, this thing was freaking relentless wasn’t she? That alien just seemed absolutely obsessed with the idea of mating–were her kind hedonistic or something? Of course, then came the subject of mating with a human, and the first thing that came to mind was a phrase that would probably be a little too mean to the boys to even write out, a snort escaping her followed by a silent laugh. However… she had an idea. After nodding her agreement with Isolde’s comment and smiling her own silent ‘happy to help,’ she got up from her chair and went over to the fridge, looking around until she found a hot dog. Then wrote down her message and brought one of the sausages over to the alien, placing it in front of her along with the note. ~If something this size would be too small for you, you’ll probably be disappointed. That, and you might crush the poor guy.~ Hot dog down a hallway, folks. Hot dog down a hallway.

Razorbackwriter:
While Tommy’s cheeks went a dark shade of red over the fact he had a nose bleed at the worst possible time, Frank was now guffawing like there was no tomorrow. Talk about Goofy on steroids. If it wasn’t the fluffy Princess asking if she would be too large to mate with, it was Elissa putting it pretty plainly that she would be way too big for the likes of a mere human male.

“Our penises are a fair size….but…you know. They might get lost.” Frank managed to get out. “But…yeah, I think we might be biting off more than we can chew.”

The detective had to take his hanky out of his pocket to try and wipe away the tears that now stained his cheeks. It took him a good few minutes to reign in his laughter, all the while, Tommy was trying to look anywhere, but at the fluffy Princess. It was all a bit too much.

The reporter then remembered the package on the coffee table. This was probably the worst time to hand it over, especially after Frank had been laughing and enjoying Fluffy’s antics. Getting up from the table, he went over and scooped up the evidence, including the pictures and the DVD of him at Madame Rose’s club. Knowing that Elissa would be watching, he said on passing. “He needs to see these. Probably better if he does so later though. I don’t want Fluffy getting the wrong idea…you know?”

Course, they both knew what the pictures were of.

“Frank. I got some compromising material on the Commander via…..a source. It might be your ticket to stopping him from standing in the way of your investigations of Rory.”

Frank completely stopped laughing and looked at the package before taking it off Tommy’s hands.

“What is it?” Genuinely curious.

“Let’s just say…..the Commander should be called “Old McDonald loved his goat….ei ie ei ie ooh.”

Frank unzipped the package and took out just one of the photos. It was all that he needed to see.

“Woah. That’s fucked up.”

He offered the picture to Isolde for her opinion. This would be scandalous and career damaging to say the least.

Temp:  The size of the ‘hot dog’ that was shown to her was not very impressive. The males of her kind were definitely much larger. Crushing a human would also be bad. Xillia was a bit upset that the prospect of mating with a human was not likely to go down well, but she wouldn’t let it keep her down. “I see…that’s unfortunate.” No mating with humans it seemed. After all the last thing she wanted to do was be disappointed with a humans performance, and she definitely didn’t want to crush one. It would just have to remain a possibility. The new topic that the humans were talking about didn’t make much sense to her, but that made her all the more curious. “What is a…Old McDonald? What does fucked up mean? What’s a goat?” Her tail was wiggling like crazy as she plopped out question after question. More things to learn! MORE THINGS TO LEARN!

Chor:  Isolde blinked as Elissa disappeared to the kitchen; having no idea of what she could need there. What she produced though, was enough to send Isolde reeling. She burst into laughter; covering her mouth with a dainty hand. The alien didn’t seem all too pleased about this and her face showed Isolde that their anatomy was far less sizable. When she was able to calm herself, Isa added, “…and that’s being generous.

The mood in the next moment was completely changed; it was serious. The very air in the room thickened as Tommy produced an envelope, one which was stole from his hands after stating something about the Commander. The thought of putting that insufferable cock in his place brought a little more joy to Isa’s day and she imagined what it could be that they’d found. What she saw, though, she was in no way prepared for. Was that a goat? A goat. It was most definitely a goat. Now, Isolde has seen many things in her profession of choice. Men reduced to ground beef, disembodied parts of all origins, or even people from whom the skin has been peeled away. This, however, she could not stomach. Her gag reflex toyed with her, producing bile which she promptly left the table to dispose of in the nearest trash can, along with the amazing breakfast she’d shared with Frank before all this mess occurred.

What…” sentences were attempted, but nothing followed as she wiped her face with a wet paper towel and trashed that too. Sitting back down relieved a little of the nausea. The Commander had recently been gotten married…Isa was sure of it, but he…with goats..and…

There was nothing else to think about. This man was so fucked up even Isa couldn’t fathom it.

VunG:  Oh good God, what had Elissa done? All the laughter from her comment was actually kind of overwhelming–she had meant it as a joke, but holy cow she really had sent the room into hysterics. Well, guess she’d best own it. As Isolde added her two cents, she promptly snickered and nodded agreeably and struggling not to fall into the same degree of laughter as the others were. It was clear the alien didn’t quite understand what was so funny, but at least she got the point that humans were a touch tiny for her tastes.

Of course, the joy was sucked out a bit when Tommy realized that it would probably be a bad idea if the alien saw those pictures. She’d think that they found interspecies relations acceptable, or maybe that spying was okay, neither of which were even remotely true. That said, she had been hoping to hold off on actually showing Frank what it was, and as he went to grab it she internally cringed as she realized that this might get very quickly out of hand if Frank was a little too vocal on it. As it was Tommy’s comment had her palm on her forehead within seconds, letting out a sigh as she tried not to laugh at that.

The alien, for her part, clearly wasn’t stupid, and picked up pretty quickly that there was something going on. Sighing again, she quickly wrote down a response. ~In order. Old MacDonald is an old children’s song, ‘fucked up’ usually means that something is very wrong or disgusting (which is the case here), and a goat is a four-legged critter about two-thirds our size often used for milk, meat, and occasionally fur. You’d be best off not knowing what’s in there, but if you MUST, know that it’s very abnormal~ As she was writing that, she would be taken off-guard by the sound of retching, and would see poor Isolde puking into a trash can. Well, at least she’d made it to the trashcan. Handing the note off, she then gave Isolde a few pats on the back and got her some paper towels to wipe her mouth off, and once she stopped heaving she began filling a glass of water for her. Apparently she had a weaker gag stomach than Elissa–ironic considering the work she did but, meh, Elissa used to be the one putting people in the morgue.

Razorbackwriter:
Frank’s initial reaction was one of shock and revulsion. Here was the top cop in the city doing unspeakable things to a domesticated farm animal. In a club no less. The detective’s eyes narrowed as he studied the photographs further, trying to work out just where he had seen the curtains in the image before. It was familiar in an odd way. That alone sent shivers through him. Isolde was not able to hide her disgust. She was up and over at the trash can basically bringing up her breakfast. Who could blame her? Elissa was quick to go and tend to Isolde, while Frank was deep in thought now. This package of photographs, and what looked to be a surveillance DVD was dynamite in the wrong hands. After everything the Commander had done to stand in the way of Frank’s investigations, and also the latest shooting death of the mobster back off the alley near where Rory was taken, this now shined a light on just how fucked up the Commander really was. Wasn’t he just married to some mail order bride from Honkers?

With the alien still asking a lot more questions, which seemed to be endless, Frank started to stuff the photographs back into the envelope that they came in. First things first. He had to ask.

“Okay Tommy, where did you get these?”

Tommy hadn’t been forthcoming with this information in front of Elissa before now, and he slowly rose to standing. You could see he was uncomfortable with being asked this in front of the others. Especially, Elissa.

“Remember Madame Rose Li?”

Frank nodded slowly. “Yeah, really creepy lady that was involved with your brother before…” His voice trailed off as he could see Tommy’s face changing. Just talking about that, was bringing back memories he rather not forget. Tommy took the lap top up off the table and closed it slowly. “She was at my office at work. They, and I assume she means the mob are more than aware of who killed Joey Patone. They know that the Commander is trying to fit you up for it.” He stared down at the parcel in Frank’s hands. Tommy now wondered just what Frank was going to do with it.

“So…heh…you’re telling me, that the mob are trying to help a cop?” That…in itself didn’t make any sense. The reporter looked uneasy as he dragged his fingers through his hair. “I think the Commander is more of a danger to them then you are. For some reason. I guess this was an insurance policy to shut him up.”

It was starting to look very much that way. Now the question was, would Frank use it?

Frank bundled up the papers, and then turned to face Isolde. He knew what he had to do, but didn’t want her involved.

“I’ve gotta go. You stay here with….Xillia.” Dragging along the alien on this very private mission was a bad idea. “I’m tired of being the scapegoat. I need to end this.”

Not waiting for her reply, he kissed her lips softly, before grabbing his coat and making his way to the door. Tommy pretty much knew this was going to happen, but he also had to go to work. “I’ll come downstairs with you.” The reporter felt bad about leaving Elissa and Isolde with the fluffy princess, but both men had things to do. Interviewing Xillia had to wait.

Tommy grabbed his sports bag, and seemed to forget everything about the promises of dinner. He had someone he needed to see.

Madame Rose.

~RB~

Temp:  Xillia turned her gaze towards the different humans as they spoke and mentally documented their words and explanations. All four of these humans were interesting in her eyes, and she found that she enjoyed their company. She still didn’t understand what they were really talking about, nor what the pictures contained, but it didn’t bother her. Her tail happily wiggled back and forth as her eyes wandered about the room in curiosity. There were so many strange things on Earth that she simply wanted to grab and examine, like these humans! Though from what she had gathered they probably wouldn’t like being picked up and examined like dolls. She watched as the two male humans started to get up and leave, and tilted her head very far to the side as she watched one of the males press his face against one of the females. “Oooooh! What was that?!” She shouted as the males exited the room, and then scurried over to Elissa, who she got very close to. She even leaned down somewhat close like Tommy had to her. “Was was that thing you two did? What is the purpose? Is it healthy? Does it feel good? Do you do that anywhere else? Can I try?!” Her eyes were probably sparkling like diamonds right now as she stared at Elissa in a crazed state of curiosity.

Chor:  Everything was a whirlwind. Isolde was barely aware of the conversation and motion of people around her, but something serious- a sort of plan you might say- was silently happening in the room. There was an uneasiness roiling in her now empty stomach, and not for that reason. There was something about the way eyes glanced around the table and sentences were formed in intense fashions that told Isolde that it was going down; immediately. Frank had come to a standing position and was speaking with Tommy about some mob contact. It wasn’t surprising, really, considering how much fucked up shit had already happened in the past 24 hours. When it comes to the mob, your common enemy makes you a foe…until you become necessary for disposal. Claura often had worked with mob contacts in Vice as many of the girls had contracts with the many families seated deep within the city. She’d told stories, mostly just simple things that she could mention without reprimand, but Isa knew not to meddle with those kinds of people. Frank was leaving? A blink, her mouth opening for protest, closed and reopened her eyes swiftly as he looked to her.

But-” there were no words she could think of that she’d rather say than experience what happened next. As his lips made first contact, a dark hunger turned the hornets in her stomach to butterflies. If he had not so soon left her, she didn’t imagine she would be able to resist continuation of this kiss. Her eyes searched his and in them saw nearly the same sort of determination and desperation that she’d noticed when she followed him from the pizza place. It was so frightening to see, her breath caught. Frank was leaving. Was he coming back? With no one to be there for him, would he fare as well as the last time he ventured into the night seeking redemption? Isolde’s bone-white fingers curled into her palms, pressing her nails dangerously into them. Even after he left, she did not speak. Xillia was reinvigorated, asking more questions than Isolde was even prepared to answer. She could do naught. Swallow. Blink. Breathe.

VunG:  Elissa would look up from tending to poor Isolde with a raised eyebrow as the men talked about their needs for work. It still concerned her that Tommy had a connection within the friggin’ mob and that they were playing some sort of political game with those murderers. Still, it was what they had to go on, and the fact that the mob was even interested told her that the bastard probably already worked for them and they were just trying to get some loyalty points with someone else. Having a detective on your payroll would be valuable–not that she expected Frank to go that far, but that was probably the thought. That all said, the look on Tommy’s face when his brother came up made her curious, and while she didn’t bother asking at the moment, she made sure to log it away.

Eventually the guys made to leave, and she would make sure to give Tommy a hug before he took off, nodding to the request to keep an eye on Fluffy. Granted, she didn’t know what all she could do in that regard, but she’d give it a shot. The sight of Frank kissing Isolde threw her for a loop, but like she’d been thinking throughout this whole thing–it was none of her business. Sighing, she gave them a gesture halfway between a wave and a salute, mouthing ‘godspeed’ to them as the door closed behind them.

And then the moment she turned around she had an alien filling the entirety of her vision. So many friggin questions! And of course she wanted to kiss because apparently it was something new to her–friggin’ wonderful. Sighing, she stepped back from the alien a bit and pulled out the notepad again and began writing a response… knowing full well that this was going to be a very long day… and that she would probably have to explain some things to her since Frank and Isolde hadn’t. As she wrote though, she noticed the look on Isolde’s face, and realized that there was probably something going on beyond Frank and her being in a relationship. Sighing, she finished the note and handed it to the alien before heading over to Isolde, touching her on the shoulder and looking her in the eye, a concerned expression on her face, trying to silently convey that she was checking if she was alright. As for the note… ~Clearly those two didn’t tell you much. I’ll answer as many questions I can, though I’m going to need something bigger than this notepad to do that. Let me check on Isolde, she looks pretty rattled, then I’ll get a notebook and sit down with you, okay?~

Falling – GS.

Scene setting:  Elissa’s apartment – GS.

co-written with VunG.

VunG:  So much energy, so much passion and furious heat, all of it built up into that one grand moment as Tommy thrust up into her and they both released. The feeling of their fluids mixing made her shiver, her entire body tingling with the climax, their strange, manic love-making finally cooling down. She returned his gaze, her chest heaving and breath heavy as she struggled to catch her breath. Eventually the feel of his arms around her was all she needed to finally give in, and she softly collapsed onto him, slowly sliding her hands up to rest on him. They were both done.

Like Tommy, she was bright red in blushing with their intense ‘exercise,’ and all she could hear beside their breathing was heartbeats. Tommy… he felt so passionate about everything, there was energy there she had never felt before… it was an energy she hoped never flickered, it was absolutely amazing. She hoped that this wasn’t an only time… she wanted to know all he had to give. She had no idea what just happened or how they clicked so suddenly, but she sure as heck wasn’t about to complain about it.

At his words, she let out a soft snicker, only just now realizing how rough her throat felt now, but didn’t care enough; as far as she was concerned she had the best lover in New York. She didn’t bother ‘speaking,’ she just slid over onto her good side and let her left arm wrap around him as she snuggled up to him, giving him a soft kiss on the neck, eyes still open as she just gazed at him. After all the madness that they had been through, this sort of bliss was just what the doctor asked for. Well… her doctor would probably have an anneurism if he knew about this fresh off getting shot, but forget him. She was perfectly happy with what just happened, her bandages and stitches seemed to have held, and she was now in a state of pure bliss with a wonderful guy. As far as she was concerned, that was a 100% positive result.

Razorbackwriter:  Some guys are fast to get out of bed after coupling, others light a smoke, or fall asleep. Tommy? He wasn’t like other blokes. Right now he was coming down from the heady high of how Elissa had made him feel. His breathing was now starting to regulate as he had finally caught his breath. He’d asked the question that was the first thing on his mind. It was insane just how wild Elissa had made Tommy feel, and now he was staring back into those beautiful eyes – totally captivated. She had bewitched him completely, and when she kissed his neck it was like ice on a flame. Cooling…gentle. He needed this….he needed her. It didn’t matter that she couldn’t answer him aside from a soft snicker. That was enough. The radiating warmth of her cheeks, the redness. Yes she felt it too.

Tommy rolled enough so he could snuggle Elissa and face her.

He leaned his head forward and kissed her forehead softly, while his arm wrapped around her to bring her close to him. Tommy loved how she melded to his form, her body smaller and yet she was the perfect fit. His hand strummed her back lightly as he whispered.

“I didn’t hurt you, did I?” Tommy was worried about her stitches and her shoulder. A gentle yet concerned look sweeping across his features. He genuinely cared about her. The last thing he ever wanted to do was hurt her. Before she could even answer, his lips searched for her. Kissing her with an aching need. If she didn’t get it by now, Elissa had gotten more than she bargained for that morning. Tommy was smitten. A hand clasped her backside, and the fingers dug into her skin. It was as though he was not ready to let her go. Not yet.

~RB~

VunG:  The enraptured feeling was utterly mutual, she had absolutely zero intent of leaving the person that had just placed her on cloud nine. The warmth of his skin against hers, his wonderful gaze, the redness of his cheeks. Oh how she wished she could speak; sign language was so dispassionate in her eyes, impossible to get across her true emotions. She felt like she was melting from the inside out, and in a good way. Right now she wanted to just forget the outside world and stay here, embraced, sweat mixing with sweat, passion for passion. Indeed, she definitely felt something after that, and she was more than happy to cling to it.

As he pressed his lips to her warm, slightly sweaty forehead, she couldn’t help but snuggle up against him, happy to fall into his grasp. All thoughts of power were gone, right now she was just happy to be here with an equal, glad to be here as one body with her newfound lover. The feeling of his hand on her back was rather pleasant, and she returned it with her own hand, her fingers lightly feeling those wonderful muscles. His words got a light scoff out of her as if the idea was absurd, but before she could give an actual response (in the form of a shake of her head), she was promptly interrupted by the feeling of his lips. Well, guess she was going to have to get used to that, certainly not something she had issue with; the feel of his lips was electric and she was more than happy to return the favor. The intrusion of his hand on her backside surprised her a little, but she just continued kissing, sliding her right hand under him to hold onto his body while her other reached up to his head to hold his hair a bit. Well, this was rapidly becoming a strange morning; barely through breakfast and it seemed that she’d hooked Tommy to her. He would catch a bit of the ‘purrs’ as he fondled her backside and their kissing continued; she loved everything about his embrace, from the playful lack of tact to his gaze to his kisses to his scent and beyond… this was perfection.

Razorbackwriter:  In a world where there was so much heartache, imperfection, death and mystery; Tommy had stumbled across the very thing that he thought he would never find. Coiled up with Elissa in his arms, this was a sanctuary from the madness of the real world. All the danger, the horror and the sin were outside of this bubble that they had created merely by chance. From the fast pace and voracious act they had just performed, now they were sharing a moment that was far more meaningful. It was rare as it was beautiful. To be treasured and savored for what it was. To be honest, Tommy had never felt this way before. So many words could describe what he was feeling, but instead of speaking them he let his body talk. His fingers danced and gripped at Elissa’s flesh as his kisses slowed. It was almost as though he had settled and now was letting this magic take him away. Elissa’s purrs were to him acceptance. A renewed joy filling his heart.

Was this what it felt like? To fall for someone who he barely knew?

Only when he drew his head back and broke the kiss could he honestly look at her. His eyes searching hers. This was so new for him. The brash and cocky Tommy now reduced to a man who would gladly fall on his knees and do whatever Elissa wanted him too. A free hand came up and cupped her cheek as he drowned in her gaze. Not even putting up a fight.

His body was now sweaty and slick from their love making. Tommy knew that he would have to get up and shower, but part of him just didn’t want to leave her side. Silly as it sounded. He wanted to kiss her again. Roll her over and then take her once more. His eyes darted to the clock and already he could see the day was really starting without them. Tommy turned his face back to hers. The playful side being replaced by a more serious one. They still hadn’t heard from Frank. The world outside was starting to tear away at the peaceful bubble. Without thinking, Tommy blurted;

“Elissa. I’m falling for you.”

Would she reject him, or laugh at these words. Would she believe him?

Someone to watch over me – GS.

Scene setting : Elissa’s apartment.

co-written with VunG.

Razorbackwriter:  When last Tommy had seen Frank and Elissa, it was when he had dropped them both off at Elissa’s apartment. Frank, being the man that he was offered to look after Elissa at her place since she had just been released from hospital and was still in a bad way. Parking his car, Tommy looked across the seat to the package that he had been given by Madame Rose Li. He shuddered as he remembered the sickening pictures of the Commander inside. He hadn’t even gone as far as to watch the DVD, but if the pictures were anything to go by, it certainly wouldn’t be suitable for viewing. As far as Tommy was concerned this was pure blackmail material. How long Rose had been sitting on it was unclear, but one thing was clear and that was that there was more to this than met the eye. A shift in power in the underworld perhaps. Tommy really didn’t know for sure, but if the Commander was working for one crime boss rather than a syndicate, than it would make perfect sense to tear him down and expose the Mister Big behind Joey’s murder. Armed with this knowledge, Tommy believed that this could only serve to help Frank and even make it onto the papers. Probably social media too.

Taking up the package, Tommy got out of his car and headed into the apartment complex. Taking the lift up to the third floor, when he got out he headed down to Elissa’s apartment. It was getting late now, and both Elissa and Frank might be sleeping. Tommy wasn’t to know, as he hadn’t bothered to call them. He was kinda in a rush to tell them what he had been given, even though part of him hated using anything brought up by Rose. There was definitely no good blood between them.

Tommy stood at the door and knocked three times, waiting for someone to answer.

~RB~

VunG:  Knock, knock, knock. Elissa jolted awake from her slumber, her good hand reaching for the knife she kept under her pillow just out of pure reflex. Eyes darting around, it took her a solid five seconds before she realized that she was just overreacting, as tended to be the case with these things. Shaking her head, she looked up towards the door to her bedroom and realized that someone must’ve been at the door. Jeeze… she must’ve been really tired, she didn’t even have any dreams while she was asleep. Frowning, she looked to the clock, and realized that it had only been maybe an hour or two since before… no wonder she didn’t feel refreshed.

Yawning massively, she got up, still dressed in her pants and tank top, and stumbled over to the door. She had to admit, she felt a little out of it; perhaps the painkillers were affecting her slightly, or just the blood-loss. Still, her shoulder didn’t hurt for the time being. Or maybe she still had a bone to pick with Frank…

Shaking off that thought, she went ahead and opened the door. Tommy would of course notice that Elissa wasn’t in any great shape at the moment; her hair was splayed every which way, she had full blown grocery bags under red-riddled eyes. However, she visibly perked up a little at seeing him, even if she was slightly surprised to see the reporter here after his rather hurried departure. Not really waiting for an explanation, she went ahead and ushered him in, figuring that it could perhaps wait until he was settled in.

Razorbackwriter:  Tommy’s hand was still in the air as he was about to knock again when the door opened suddenly and Elissa appeared – looking like she had just rolled out of bed. Tommy made a slight face to see her like this. It was not like he was being rude, just shocked by her appearance. Hair wild. Wind swept and interesting. Her eyes had massive bags beneath them with red veins streaking across the white. She…was a sight. Tommy almost forgot what he was there for. At first he stuttered as he tried to find his voice. “God, did I wake you up?” This was said as he leaned forward a little. The parcel in his left hand making a slight crackling sound as he waited to be invited in. Course, she ushered him in kindly and he sort of hopped through the door. He looked awkward, like he was trespassing. Wasn’t Frank still here?

“I know I should have called first but….I’m still kind of in shock by what is in this package.” Finding the nearest table he placed it down, before turning and looking about the room for Frank.

“Where’s Frank?” Tommy again assumed he was there somewhere.

Not seeing him off the bat, Tommy then thought he might have been in the bathroom….or the bedroom.

While waiting for Elissa to close the door, Tommy started to explain more in depth why he was there.

“I’ve just come from my office. Had a run in with my editor WHO happened to have been chewed out by one fat prick at the NYPD top office.” Elissa would be able to guess just who he meant by that. “Then….a blast from the past.” A delicate way of saying Rose. “…was waiting for me in my office. With this.”

He spilled out the photographs and the DVD on the coffee table. The images were shocking to say the least.

“I…bet you can guess who the guy with the goat is.” Tommy said. He then waited for her reaction.

~RB~

VunG:  Elissa didn’t truly realize what sort of condition she seemed to be in, though if she looked half as bad as she felt she was probably a bit of a mess. Still, it wasn’t like Tommy was doing anything wrong. She shrugged lightly at his question, admitting that he did, but she didn’t even have the energy to be angry at him even if she wanted to be. As she closed the door behind him, she raised an eyebrow at the comment about the package, but she figured it was probably something either to do with the creature from the alleyway or something else of a useful nature. When the question of Frank came up, she sighed with frustration, shaking her head, fully intending to sign an explanation. She was still royally mad at the guy, mostly because she was worried about him… and also because she was angry at herself. However, before she could explain the situation to Tommy, he went ahead and began explaining that he’d already been head off at the pass by the commander.

She went ahead and knelt down by the coffee table at his explanation. And then it all came out onto the table… and leaned over to look at one of the pictures thoughtlessly, letting out a tired yawn, smacking her lips as she tried to focus on it. Okay… so someone was caught in a compromising picture with… wait that was the Commander with a… was that a… goat? Immediately she shook her head with shock, smacking herself in the cheek as if she was imagining things. “Wht?!” she whispered aloud, spreading out the pictures before sputtering into a fit of coughing that didn’t know if it was laughter. It was kind of like a train-wreck, disturbing in a way that you wanted to look away, but you couldn’t.

Eventually she pulled away from it and looked at Tommy with a strange expression, half-way between horrified and amused. He’d probably just given them a hell of a lot of ammunition to use, and there were so many ways that they could use it. Sighing softly, she said to him with a light smirk, ~You’re so bad for even considering these helpful.~ At which point she leaned forward towards him, folding her hands over each other and looked up at him with a tired but wicked smile, ~So how are we going to use them?~

Razorbackwriter:  ~You’re so bad for even considering these helpful.~

“Hey, I’m not the one having sex with the goat!”

Tommy had a smug expression as he stood with his arms folded before Elissa. “I mean, I have heard of loving animals, but that’s ridiculous.” Pointing at one picture in particular. It was disgusting. The reporter would not ever normally consider using such images on social media or print media, but Frank’s career and the lives of those he cared about were being affected by the crooked Commander. Elissa’s reaction was not totally unexpected. A sort of horrified giggle in seeing the shocking images came from her though silently as she had no voice. ~So how are we going to use them?~ That was Elissa’s next question and an important one.

“Use them as leverage. Send him one and say there is more and that unless he met our demands then his goat love affair will be plastered over ever possible social media service on earth.” At the end of saying this, Tommy flashed a grin. He was feeling a bit cocky for even going this far.

“I can’t wait for Frank to see these.”

Still Tommy had not cottoned on that Frank was not in Elissa’s apartment. He was so caught up in his plans with the dirty pictures that his rush to tell Elissa had him missing the clues that Frank had left.

The reporter let out a loud yawn as he had still not been to bed for two days. Patting his hand over his mouth, he asked.“Can I bum a coffee from you?”

~RB~

VunG:  Elissa snickered a bit at the man’s protests; she’d largely been joking with him. It was disgusting, yes, but she had to admit that this sort of thing was solid gold as far as what they needed in this situation. She wasn’t the sort of person to do these shadowy backstabbing skulduggery things, but desperate times called for desperate measures… and there were some enemies that were just worth the pleasure of watching them squirm. It would be a shame that she’d never get the chance to see the looks on the commander’s face. She returned his grin tiredly, eager to follow through on this plan of his… though she almost wanted to get some electronic copies. Shame that that sort of stuff would be easily traced if she wasn’t careful.

And then he mentioned Frank. Immediately she winced, guilt crashing over her like a tsunami wave. She’d been forced to abandon the man by her damn injuries, but she’d taken her sweet time in letting Tom know. Not that they could probably do anything… it sounded like the pizza place was just a stopping point, wherever Frank was headed after that was anyone’s guess. Sighing, she nodded to his request, gesturing to the coffee machine on her desk, a bright red Folger’s can next to it. However, before he could get away, she grabbed his hand to get his attention and explained. ~Frank flew the coop,~ she told him, concern apparent in her eyes, ~He received a call from someone, Isolde I think, and left without explaining. But… I don’t know… he looked like he was going to his own execution.” Sighing she shook her head and bit her lip, continuing to sign, “I don’t know if he’s planning on doing something drastic or just needed to get away, but… I should’ve gone after him, injuries be damned.”

Razorbackwriter:  Tommy was about to help himself to a hot cup of joe, when Elissa grabbed his hand in order to get his attention. The reporter had been yapping so much that the poor girl could barely get across the fact that Frank…had flown the coop. Watching her hand signing, he realized that Frank must have just came up for a moment or two with Elissa and then taken off again after a call from Isa. The last part of her signing had Tommy start to have a fit.

“He was SUPPOSED to be taking care of you!” Oh Tommy was angry. He threw his head back and let out a strangled sort of noise. If that son of a bitch was going to go do something drastic rather than stand and fight, Tommy would never forgive him. Or himself. It was not like Tommy could baby sit Frank 24/7, but some days that was what he felt he needed to do. Ever since Rory’s death, Frank’s life had crumbled into the pathetic existence he now suffered. Tommy instantly forgot all about coffee. Turning to Elissa he went to reach for her shoulders, then realized that he would do her an injury. Tommy stopped himself in time and seemed to just have his hands hanging in the air…..like he wanted to throttle something. He had the goods on the Commander, to make the Boss back the hell off Frank. It would give them breathing space till the real shooter was caught. The reporter was starting to wonder if he was in the right job.

“You are injured, Elissa. No way should you have followed him. Damn, you look like you could use another eight hours of sleep.”

Taking out his cellphone, he tried to ring Frank. All he got, was his message bank.

“It’s Tommy! You call and let us know where you are. I swear to hell and back if you do something stupid, I’ll kill you myself!”

Tommy ended the message and stared at Elissa with a grumpy look.

“Too harsh?”

~RB~

VunG:  Perhaps she should’ve just kept her mouth shut. Elissa knew damn well that Tommy had every right to be angry, and she was right there with him, but by the same token she didn’t want these two friends getting into yet another fight on her behalf. And damn it all, she was too tired to deal with any more drama. For a moment when Tommy raised his hands she thought that he had lost it and was about to shake her, but apparently he caught himself before he followed through with whatever it was. His words cut a bit, though she knew he meant nothing by it. She shook her head insistently declaring defiantly, ~I’ll live,~ not truly realizing the irony of the statement.

However, she definitely had no complaints about what he said to Frank, and while it was perhaps a bit harsh, the man needed something harsh to wake him up. When the man hung up the phone, she responded to his comment with a shrug then reached for his hand, holding it calmly between both of hers. Then she did a rather dramatic inhale, her entire body puffing up before she let out a noisy exhale. She repeated this once or twice, then released his hand and gestured for him to copy her. Right now getting worked into a frenzy wasn’t helping anyone. However, she didn’t go anywhere; right now coffee, sleep, and all that nonsense took second place to simply dealing with the interpersonal nonsense that needed addressing in the here and now.

Razorbackwriter:  Elissa was being so strong and making out how she’d live, even though it was pretty clear that she needed rest to help her get better. How were the painkillers to do their job if she didn’t get some sleep? Feeling Elissa take his hand and try to hold it between the two of hers, Tommy stared at her oddly; still annoyed with Frank. She started doing this dramatic and bizarre inhaling and exhaling. You know the kind you do when you are in a pregnancy class. It looked odd, but she must have had a reason for it. “Ohhhh you want me to ….oh right.” Hearing the noisy exhale, Tommy puffed up his chest – inflating his lungs to the max and then let out a really loud long sigh. Did it help? Hard to say, but it took his mind off Frank. He did another one and you could see his body was starting to relax. His shoulders dropped slightly and the furrowing of his brows stopped. A last sigh, and Tommy made up his mind what needed to happen now. No more chasing, no more running after leads. Elissa’s health came first. Tommy resigned himself to now being Elissa’s babysitter. Not Frank’s. Frank had yet to return his call, so he tossed his cell on the coffee table that was covered in the dirty photos.

“Right little lady. Bed…and I won’t have a word of argument. Not one. And no wicked hand signing either.”

There, he had given the order. No sooner said, he took off his jacket and tossed it over a chair, before kicking off his shoes. He threw himself on the couch and rummaged for the TV remote.

“I wonder if Dancing with the stars is on.” He was speaking now to himself, thinking she would be a good girl and just go to bed, like he had told her too.

~RB~

VunG:  To Elissa’s relief, Tommy caught onto what she was trying to do, and she watched as he very visibly calmed down a bit. Granted, she doubted that such things would be enough to completely calm him down, but it was a place to start. As he released his own sigh, she eased off and released his hands. With that done though, she realized that he was probably going to wind up babysitting her, and as humiliating as that was, she was admittedly a grateful that he cared that much. Finally letting her barriers drop as he somewhat bossily told her to go to bed, she responded with a sleepy but bratty looking, ~Yes dad.~ However, as she was turning to go to her bedroom and take another shot at getting the rest she so desperately needed, she paused and turned back around. She caught his comment, but it wasn’t of much consequence to her at the moment.

As she looked back to Tommy, she couldn’t help but feel a slight warmth in her cheeks. He was acting so selflessly on her behalf, and when they had only just met too. Biting her lip thoughtfully, she re-entered the room and went over behind him on the couch. The man would find her arms lightly wrapping around his chest as she leaned behind him, then, leaning up to his ear, whispered a raspy, “Thanks.” Giving him a light peck on the cheek, she then went ahead and returned to her room, giving one last look towards him with a thin smile before ducking inside and finally trying to get some sleep again.

Razorbackwriter:  Feeling the warm arms wrap around his chest caught the reporter by surprise, but he quickly accepted it when he felt her breath upon his ear. That deep raspy wisp of a voice offering thanks made him chuckle. If only everyone knew the delight of a breathless thank you. Frank patted her arm on feeling the light peck of her lips to his cheek.“You’re welcome, hun.”

Watching Elissa finally make the trek into her bedroom and closing her door, Tommy put his feet up on the coffee table and started to flick through the channels. Infomercials, old soaps, gory news bulletins from around the globe and finally a repeat of Dancing with the stars. Oh this was candy floss for the brain and after about two minutes the remote slid from Tommy’s hand as his head lolled back and a loud snore erupted.

The poor guy finally gave up fighting the need for sleep and succumbed like a baby.

On the idiot box, the dancers were doing a slow tango. Brightly coloured garb swirled on the dance floor; with judges to the side looking bored shit less.

Tommy’s street rats – GS

Back Streets of New York.

The shouting of the Chinese chefs grew as the night time trade was at their peak in the Golden Dragon restaurant. Tommy ‘s smile grew as he turned the corner. The dark alley stretching down till reaching fourth street. Here there were many vagrants and bums that the city had long since forgotten. But what people didn’t realize was that they were the eyes and the ears of the city. Carrying a small bag of Chinese dinners, Tommy approached two men that were standing at an upturned oil drum, which was being used as a fire bin. Each man having their hands held forward to warm by the fire. Tommy’s shadow soon overtook them, and both men turned with fright – only to be relived when they saw it was Tommy.

“Yo Man….you damn well scared us. Sneaking around like that. Hey, do I smell chicken and cashews?” The first man said, as Tommy pulled out one of the boxes and a pair of chopsticks, handing it over to the man who greeted him. Wearing an old brown coat, with a grey scarf tied around his neck, the bum greedily took the box of food and sat down on the ground, while his companion did the same. He was slightly wary of a well dressed man handing out free food.

“Wha’ chu wanting, bud?” The second man said, sitting down beside his friend and hastily opened the box of food, while Tommy lent on one of the industrial bins. Tommy was wearing a grey three piece suit with a black long over coat and matching scarf that helped keep his neck warm on these cold New York nights.

“Been a spate of murders in the area, gentlemen. I’m wanting to know if you have heard or seen…anything unusual. My money is on the fact that this is not mob related.”

The two men stopped eating, with their chop sticks held still. ~Murders?~ Sure, everyone knew that life on the streets was tough for anyone. You really had to know your way around, but it was so easy to fall foul of an angered and crazed drug user or a unpaid pimp. But with Tommy saying the murders were NOT mob related, that could mean only one thing.

“You thinkin’ it’s a serial killer?”

“Possibly….I’ve been working the case a few months. Trying to keep one step ahead of the cops, ya know?” Tommy answered as he took out a crumpled cigarette packet and tapped one end on the open palm of his hand – the cigarette sliding out, and he quickly flicked it up to his lips. He lit the cigarette with a zippo lighter, before snapping it shut and stuffing it in his coat pocket. The hot glow of the end of the cigarette was illuminating his face partially. Tommy was an attractive man. What he was doing down this end of town was considered out of character for his breed. Taking a long drag, he tipped his head back, and blew the smoke skywards, before returning his attention back to the bums.

“If you two see…or hear anything. Strangely dressed men…..odd gun sounding gun shots. You get in touch with me.” At this, Tommy gave the nearest bum his card, which had his contact details on it, along with the NY Times logo. He was one of the Times best investigative journalists, and it was easy to see why.

“There be more dinners like this, but in a better setting.” The journo promised as the two resumed eating their meals with gusto.

“You got it, Tommy.” the first bum said with a grin, as Tommy turned on his heel and started to walk out of the back alley. He was heading back to his apartment, since he had promised Tamika he’d show up for dinner.

As Tommy left the alley, the two bums looked at each other. Murders, and unusual ones. Only in New York.
