The Maze of Greed – The Finale.

We come to the end of the Maze of Greed, with the defeat of Lydia- but the drama isn’t over.  Bandit carries a secret within her that is bound to change everything.

Bandit let herself fall nearly limp in Habib’s arms, shaking still. Her heart beat quickly as all she could smell was the fallen angel, all she could see was him, too.. Eyelids fluttered until they closed completely, her arms reaching up to wrap around the fallen’s neck.. Though, despite how much she shook in fear, some part of her wished that it was not Habib that held her, but Raul. God, what was it that attracted her to the messed and broken? Perhaps, that it was that she herself was a mess, that she too was a broken soul, waiting to be put back together.. Another part of her wished nothing more than to drink this all away, and the final part wanted nothing but her death.. What further suffering could she be spared if she was killed now..? Her eyes opened slowly as she gazed up at Habib, head falling back to be against his arm – there was no in between, she could not hold herself up currently..

Her breathing was hard gasps, almost wheezing rather than actual breaths. Her heart beat seemed almost impossibly fast, echoing — wait a minute.. No. Her heart beat was actually quite faint and slow, but yet.. there was another sound, thumpthumthumpthump, rapid in tune and seeming to come from her lower abdomen.. Oh. Oh.. it was another heartbeat entirely.. Yes. Bandit was pregnant. And Raul was her child’s father.. But she did not yet know of this pregnancy, she did not yet know of the little being that she held inside of her, a child with magic as strong as its father’s and a will to live as strong as its mother’s… Bandit needed nutrition and warmth, she would catch a sickness remaining outside and in such a weakened state – in fact, she could feel the same waves of unconsciousness overcoming her, appearing to be faint for another time. This would not be good for her baby..

Scar was now beaming brightly as his beautiful Princess took his hand. In the change from coming back in the hat, he was actually taller now, and one might say better looking. Maybe it was his love for the young witch that had him appear this way. Then again, it was not how one looked, but what they were truly inside that made them worthy of love. Scar had been to hell and back…really, in order to save the girl of his dreams. He had been sent away in his own hat, and then brought back her family to her in order to help her. Little did he truly understand that in order to save her, she had to learn to save herself. It would be a good lesson for life and one that would be important in the coming days as the rest of hell figured out that Lydia was dead.

Wow…the evil bitch finally got what was coming to her and she had a particularly nasty end. But looking about them now, they would see nothing but beauty. The maze had come back full and strong – vivid and colourful. Gone were the evils that walked its many lengths, but instead there were brightly coloured flowers and singing birds. Maybe this was an unnatural phenomenon in a place like Greed, but it matched the new Princess perfectly.

Scar gave Mariela’s hand a squeeze as he gestured for Sam, Sean and Tessa to follow. The alp knew that the family deserved a reunion that made the whole adventure worth while. In the coming days, Mariela would have a lot of choices to make. For one…she must decide if her family was to return. Mariela might be able to visit them, but the truth was she now belonged in Hell, and Greed was her kingdom and her home.

“Wait till you guys see the castle. It’s probably still a mess from the ball. Hope they have clean up crews working on it.” No truer statement had been made. There had been magical fights up there and much destruction and death. Not exactly the kind of place you want to take your relatives. Walking past the great giant Douglas, you could see the ginger haired mountain was happy for the small couple, but he was also sad in a way. There was no going back to the Fallen mansion now, and even if he could….Quinn was not there. His only friend in the worlds. He had lost his family long ago, and had no one to call his….or a real home. Some were getting their happy ever afters and others were not. The biggest losers were those that chose to play their worst cards with little regard for the others. Raul…Lydia…both lost.

The giant wiped away a stray tear as he leaned on his battle axe. The maze in behind him was in full bloom and colour. Did it really need a gardener now? Slowly, he made his way out of the maze and continued his search for the hell hound…his only friend.

(TC – Douglas)

Further back, Habib was holding onto the very tired looking Bandit. Her breathing was still shallow and her gasping came hard and sounded dreadful. She needed rest from all that had happened, and the fallen held her very close to him as he started to follow the rest of the party. But it was during that first few steps that he felt not one…but two heartbeats. Strange. A human only has….Habib’s eyes widened at the realization. No…it can’t be. Was Bandit pregnant? He stopped long enough to let the others get well ahead before saying anything.

“I was going to take you away from this realm to a place where you can be healed…..but, it may destroy the life within you.” The fallen knew that if Bandit was indeed pregnant, and if the baby belonged to who he thought it did, that there was no way she could leave hell now. The fallen had to think quickly. The Princess and her family were just getting on with their lives, and now this. If Raul found out, he would bring about such death and destruction to get back Bandit and their child. Habib’s wings burst into life and without looking back, he pushed off from the ground, soaring into the air with Bandit in his arms. He needed to find her a temporary sanctuary from all that could harm her so he could think of what to do next.

Her life…and that of her unborn depended on it.

Mariela looked at Scar, realizing how much taller he was than her. “You’re taller now.” she stated with a small smile. She had always thought Scar was a charmer – but now he actually looked it. But she didn’t state this out loud, and instead bit the corner of her lip and gave a smile, before turning to Tessa and her brothers.

As they walked through the maze, Mariela took time to look around and notice how truly beautiful it was. Certainly much different than what it looked like before. It was a nice change, and Mariela admired how beautiful the maze was. Made her actually want to walk through it this time. Mariela looked down when Scar squeezed her hand, entwining their fingers together as he did so. She then looked up when Scar spoke.

“The castle is quite grand. It has everything you can imagine, and certainly fits for a perfect castle for Greed.” she said with a small laugh, looking at Tessa and her brothers again. “There was a… incident at the ball. We weren’t there to see what happened, but my guess is none of it was good. And if we walk and it’s completely destroyed, I apologize.” she spoke, turning to look ahead again.

“I didn’t think you could do it. Kill the Princess of Greed.” Tessa spoke, and Mariela turned to look at her. “I’ve killed once before, you know. That’s why I ended up in Hell.” she spoke. “That was different.” Sean spoke up. “You did it to protect us.” he spoke again, and Mariela looked at him. “And I killed Lydia to protect myself, and everybody else. The same exact reason I killed that man years ago. To protect the one’s I love.”

“Lydia was so… powerful. Yet you managed to kill her.” Tessa spoke, still not believing that little Mariela defeated the “powerful” Princess of Greed. Mariela just sighed, looking forward again. “Lydia may have been powerful, but that power caused her death. She may have been Princess of Greed, but there is such a thing as being too greedy.” she started.“Her Greed and ambition and desire to be the most powerful person in Hell caused her demise.” she said, then looked at the trio. “That, and the fact she had a really bad habit of underestimating people who were “lower” than her.” she said with a smile.

“So, you’re the new Princess of Greed. What are you going to do now?” Sam asked and Mariela shrugged. “Guess we’ll have to wait and see. But I know one thing. I’ll do a hell of a better job running this place than Lydia ever did.” she spoke.

The Maze of Greed – Part Seventeen : SS.

Bandit’s life flashes in front of her eyes as she is about to find peace within the arms of a fallen.  Was she accepting her death, or was this last explosion of memories to make her realize the little girl she had forgotten?

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy, Artie and Phyln.

Dessy:  Mariela shot a look towards Raul, but said nothing else on the matter. “Scar…” she said when he snarled, but said nothing more. She looked up at Habib, giving a nod before being handed Bandit. She actually struggled a little bit to hold her up this time, walking over to a nearby fountain and kneeling down, layign Bandit down in front of it… but it wasn’t as easy as it was before.

https://i2.wp.com/25.media.tumblr.com/a2f726f5ec65df568ea312495355056c/tumblr_meodgfF5Zd1qj74jeo1_500.gif
She turned around hearing Raul’s begging voice, and cocked her head at the tears in his eyes. “You actually care for her.” she spoke out loud. “You have a funny way of showing it.” she then spoke. “Hurting her to where she’s an inch away from death and placing a collar on her like a dog isn’t a very good way to show you “love her”.” she then snapped, before looking at Bandit.

She moved her hand around, sprouting a few vines to wrap around Bandit’s injured leg. They glowed slightly, healing the leg. “You don’t have to give your life. As much as I’d love to kill you for everything you’ve done, there’s no need.” she spoke. She could hear the gasps come from Tessa and her brothers, but the witch just rolled her eyes. “Come on, Bandit.” she then said, leaving her hand over the vine wrapped around the leg, greatening the healing magic occasionally.

Mariela whipped her head around when Scar snarled again. “Scar! Let him go.” she spoke. “He’s not going to do anything.” she spoke, before turning her gaze towards Raul. “If he does, I’ll be more than happy to take care of him myself.”

Whispers of many, voices garbled together in a chorus of words that Bandit could not understand. Flashing lights consumed her eyes, scenes that she could not focus on from her memory encasing her, consumed with the unconsciousness of her physicality as her life flashed before her eyes. Bandit’s mind was a chorus of crescendos, an orchestrated chaos. While she would remain limp physically and paled, on the brink of death, life surged within her in a rush of force greater than it ever had before. The lights grew faster in speed, the whispers had begun a hissing and definite roar – so much so that she wished to cover her ears and scream to make it stop, to halt the yells. Pieces of her past conversations of all sorts mentally assaulted her, loud over the whispers.

“Mommy, I’m scared.” A small girl’s voice.
“I know baby.. Be strong, Beatrix. Be strong.” An older and mature woman voice.
“Mama!” The girl was crying now, a shuffle as a chorus of yelling began, men, a gunshot..

Whispers.

SLAP.
“I hate you!” Teenage girl, screaming through tears.
“You should never have been born!” A man, older. Slurred words. Drunk.

Louder, more voices of whispering.

“Don’t touch me, don’t touch- Don’t touch me!

The whispers began to be overpowering.

Sobbing, soft and muffled, as though a young woman was crying herself to sleep..

Silence.

https://i2.wp.com/31.media.tumblr.com/44d073edc802eabda9bf8b314ce6b745/tumblr_mqbt86zY211sb10bxo1_400.gif

A single memory found itself to her subconscious. A better time, before she had earned her nickname. Back when her name was not Bandit.. but Beatrix. When she sustained enough innocence to be nothing more than a human, with issues but otherwise unscathed by the future hardships of the world in front of her.. The world that she would know to be cruel and unforgiving, willing to allow a woman to die for its own entertainment. To sit back and watch as a girl who had only tried to live became nothing more than a chew toy for others to tug-o-war with..

“Mama?” Beatrix asked, held in her mother’s loving arms. “Yes, my dear?” The woman had kind eyes and dark hair, but her eyes were a striking blue – cold, if not for the warm smile always planted on her face. Cold, if not for the lovingness that always came from her, the willingness to be there for what was her pride and joy.. The small girl held in her arms. Blue eyes gazed back into the woman’s, but these were duller. They were not striking, but simply calming, as if gazing into an ocean. Her blonde hair was pure and untainted, much like the soul within her. Beatrix could not have been older than six, perhaps maybe four or five..

“Why isn’t Daddy home?” Beatrix’s eyes were merely curious, lacking sadness and not yet understanding the concept…
“Daddy had to go out and see his friends. He’s drinking his medicine, sweetie.” The woman’s face faltered for a split second – one that Beatrix would not note, gazing down at her mother’s beautiful curls and looking back up to the smile that made the young girl smile in return. Oblivious. Ignorance was bliss..

A sudden and loud thud would then make the woman look up, from down the hall.. Something was different. It was not the knocking over of objects.. It was a gunshot. “Honey. Beatrix, baby.” Amoria crouched down to gaze at her daughter. “You need to go to the closet, and I need you to hide. Daddy’s medicine didn’t work today, he’s feeling sick. Okay?”

“Mommy,” Beatrix’s face had fallen. “I’m scared..” She sudden began to gaze around. Another crash further down the hall. Loud footsteps.. Her father’s friends had come along?

“I know, baby. Be strong, Beatrix. Be strong.” With a waving motion, Amoria would then turn to have her back towards Beatrix, standing at full height as though ready to protect her child. Beatrix did not recognize the bruises on her mother’s wrists back then.

Beatrix’s eyes widened as she suddenly was overcome with fear, waddling with her small and inexperienced feet towards her mother, seeking warmth and comfort that she would never again feel – “Mama!”

The door burst open.

. . .

Bandit burst awake, tears in her eyes as she gasped, sitting up. A hand flinged itself over her chest, oxygen coming slowly to her as it was painful to breathe. The flood of emotions drowned her, the waves overtook her body as she was suddenly consumed in painful sobs. It hurt to cry, her chest burned with each breath. Movements sent flames throughout her body.. She was consumed with pain, the intense healing on her already weak human body nearly shattering it. Her blue eyes held even more emotional pain that physical, the emotions perhaps restricting her breaths more than her actual injuries. “Fuck! Fuck!” Each word was breathless, mixed with a choking cough.

“I can’t.. breathe!” She was breathing, but it didn’t feel like air was going through to her. For the first time in her short life, Bandit had broken down. Even Raul’s mind games had not broken her. Her first love leaving had not broken her. The death of her mother had not broken her. The abandonment of her father had not broken her. But now, with all of it coming back at once, she broke into a million pieces. A million small fragments of the girl she had been. Tender, stripped of emotions and guards that years had prepared her for putting up.. And now they had been stripped down, leaving her defenseless in front of so many people.

Her legs had ceased to bleed and now she could feel them, the dull and numb feeling that coursed from him into her core. She was a mess of tears and blood, her hair dirty in contrast to the innocent blonde it had once been in her memory. The dull blue and clueless eyes in her past were now bright and shining from the tears once within them. They had become striking, they were striking. She did not have the same warmth as her mother. The cold had consumed her – she had not consumed it…

For once, in her life, Bandit felt a need for warmth. A need..
“Someone hold me!” The words were gasped, her body shaking as she was continuously healed – it was a necessary evil for her to live, but in her conscious state it only brought her pain..

Phyln: His grasp was final he was not the reaper but he entertained the idea that he was the janitor of the dead, he did not farry souls over the river or collect them from the world of the living. No his was a much simpler task more often than not when the ever flowing tides of chaos removed another damned being from its eternal or rather not so eternal existence in hell he would sweep away the remnants of the power it had once possessed. grabbing a hold of the soul he began the process of adding it to his collection, dragging the spirit towards him it struggled clearly still clinging to the life it once had. However it was too late it had no where to go, even if he released it where would it run to. it was not hard to hold onto a soul when it has no where to go slowly he dragged it across the ethereal plain into the bag. as it entered the strings on the bag drew them selves closed over what to the mortal eye would appear to be nothing. opening his eyes with his task finished he fastened the bag to his belt and raised one hand in prayer. “May your eternal rest be peaceful for you have served your damnation”. his prayers were little more than ceremony at this point offering nothing than words to the dead. He turned and began his treck out of the maze at his usual brisk pace.

Greed: The Masquerade Ball : Maze

The passing of Lydia’s soul over into the bag after putting up such a struggle meant the end of the reign of the Princess of Greed. All her magical power was now within the young witch, whether she realized this or not. Would the witch end up being cursed just as the other heads of Greed had been, or will this be the dawning of a new era? Anything was possible, least that is how things were happening up further in the now beautiful maze.

A woman who had been beaten within an inch of her life, and forced to wear a collar that’s magic drained the wearer was so close to death that nothing that the Warlock or even the fallen could do to stop the inevitable. However, it was within this moment, when life is slipping away that we look back one last time at all that has happened to us over the course of our lives. With the group watching on – fearful that Bandit would die, they were unaware that she was experiencing this near death slide show of her life, from child hood till the bitter end. It is interesting that it is not one single event in our lives that makes us who we are, but rather it is like an enormous patch work quilt. Each piece sewn together with an array of emotions and feelings that either create something beautiful and a treasure or something akin to a nightmare visage.

Stripped away of everything and all the fail safes that had been set into place to create a fierce wall in which to protect her from further harm had now crashed down into a pile of rubble, leaving Bandit exposed to everything….and all at once.

Yes, the witch was able to somehow stop the bleeding and heal the physical, but what she couldn’t do was heal the heart….the mind. Behind those terrified eyes lay a broken soul. A timid child. Cold…and frightened. Her heart eclipsed for so so long.

Scar growled as he slowly released his grip on Raul’s throat and fell back, only to watch on as Mariela did her best to heal the young girl. He crouched down beside Mariela, his eyes riddled with concern. The alp was the demon of nightmares who had been called on especially by Lydia for his talents, and he whispered to Mariela.

“I can see….what she is seeing.” The more the alp witnessed the more shocked he was. The poor girl had been through so much, and it only made him hate the Warlock with a renewed passion. Scar grit his teeth and snorted through his nostril as he waited to see if the girl would make it through.

Thankfully, Bandit’s spirit was a strong one. A fighter to the very core. Her first words as she started to come around showed that same spunk. “Fuck! Fuck!” This brought something of a relieved collective sigh, but it was what she said following, that made all realize she was not out of the woods.

“I can’t.. breathe!”

Scar threw up his hands and sat back. “I’m not doing it.” One of the things that an alp does to a victim is sit upon their chest so they feel that they can’t breathe. It had to be something else causing it. With dark marks upon his throat, Raul again stepped forward, wanting so much now to help Bandit. The only problem was, someone stood in his way.

“Turn around…and walk away.” The fallen’s wings opened out in the full to protect Bandit who was still on the ground, now shivering. Habib would simply not have Raul hurt her again. “It’s over. Return to Lust where you belong.” The two men faced off, Habib’s face was like stone as he refused to give quarter. He had seen Raul hurt Bandit over and over again. For the first time in centuries, the Warlock lowered his head. He had lost. The worst part was that it was in losing her that he truly realized what his real feelings were. This was the price he would pay for the rest of his days in Hell.

https://38.media.tumblr.com/dc1fd9454f76f85335f73f20fdf159bd/tumblr_nitl7tLwnC1r6qaxco10_r1_500.gif

The sounds of Bandit crying out for someone to hold her brought out a pained look from Raul. Oh how much he wanted to hold her, to cherish her now and tell her that he loved her. Sadly, it would not be him. Sighing, he turned away from the scene, his hands clenched into fists and he strode away – vanishing from the Maze of Greed.

With the Warlock gone, Habib returned to Bandit’s side and attempted to lift her up into his powerful arms. He hoped to give her the warmth and comfort she needed. Especially now.

“I’m here for you, Bandit.”

Scar rose to his feet, and gestured with his hand for Mariela’s. It was now a time to breathe, and let Mariela have a chance to speak with her family – her brothers and her friend Tessa. The Alp knew that they had a lot to catch up on.

“Why don’t we get out of this maze and head up to your castle, my Lady?” He smiled brightly at the new Princess of Greed, and waited to see her reaction. After all, he said ‘my’ again.

~RB~

Dessy:  Mariela watched Bandit, occasionally her eyes moving to the leg that she was trying to heal. Scar came beside her, and when he whispered about being able to see everything, she turned her head to him. “What do you see?” she then whispered back, but Bandit popped up a few minutes later. With a wave of her hand, the vines disappeared and Mariela stayed on her knees, her hands holding onto Bandit’s shoulders. “Bandit, it’s okay.” she said, her face growing to concern when she said she couldn’t breathe.

Mariela grabbed and pulled Bandit into a hug, holding her as her eyes stared at Habib and Raul, her eyes shooting daggers into Raul. “Bandit, it’s okay. You’re safe.” she spoke, her voice calm and soothing as she held Bandit in a hug. When Raul turned around and walked away, Mariela’s eyes followed him until he had disappeared. She then pulled away from Bandit so Habid could pick her up. “Take care of her, and whatever you do, don’t let Raul touch her again.” she spoke.

https://i0.wp.com/38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_louzy4h3zA1qfrdlso1_500.gif
She looked up when Scar held his hand, giving him a smile before she put her hand in his and stood up. When Scar spoke, she gave another smile and nodded her head, before turning to look at Habib. “If you need anything, or she needs help or anything, you can come see me anytime you want. But, please, keep her away from Raul.” she spoke, before turning back to Scar.

https://31.media.tumblr.com/6cd3c9e0d19c74228f9baf7988d36200/tumblr_inline_n1zsgfLIYC1sub5pe.gif
She gave him a smile, nodding her head. “Let’s go… my Scar.” she said, fully aware she used the word “my” to describe him, and she just ended up grinning. She turned to motion to Tessa and her brothers, telling them to follow, and after the trio all looked at each other with raised eyebrows at the way they called each other “my”, they shrugged before following behind the two.

The Maze of Greed – Part Sixteen : SS.

“You had the power…you had it all along….you just needed to believe in yourself.” : Habib.

Scene setting: The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy, Artie and Phyln.

Dessy:  Tessa heard Bandit mumble the words “fucking great”, but she didn’t say anything on the matter. She was pretty sure that she was the only one to have heard it, so she never said anything. But then all of them got distracted by the maze disappearing. They all seemed to have the exact same reaction… wondering what the fuck was going on. Tessa looked down, feeling the blood drip down her hand to see the pool of blood starting to form. “Shit.” she mumbled. They didn’t have much time left… and where the hell was Mariela?

“I’M NOT THE ONE DOING THIS!”

Raul roared, before sending the four women… girls… whatever they were… away. All of a sudden, a winged creature appeared in front of them, causing Tessa to widen her eyes and take a few steps back. He began speaking, and mentioned about the Princess of Greed being… dead? So, Mariela did it. She killed her. Honestly, this caused shocked expressions to appear on Tessa and the brothers faces. “She killed Lydia?” Tessa asked out loud, shocked. “I can’t believe it. She actually did it.”

He walked towards the boys, telling them to step aside, and they did. They then turned around to watch him walk towards Tessa. He bowed, before mentioning about how he could save Bandit. Tessa opened her mouth to speak, but Raul was already yelling about “Bandit was his”. Tessa stared at Raul, while slowly handing Bandit over to this winged creature. Raul then threatened to never let Mariela see Scar again, and then not being able to send Tessa and the boys back. He began yelling to Mariela, and Tessa closed her eyes, in hopes that her dear friend could indeed save the maze.

Mariela had a panicked expression. The maze, and the Giant, were all disappearing in front of her, and she had no idea what to do. “Shit, shit, shit.” she cursed in a panic, turning to look all around her.

“YOU ARE THE POWER, MARIELA!!!…….YOU HAD IT ALL ALONG!!!. YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE!!! REPAIR THE BROKEN MIRROR WITH THE SHARD!!!….BRING THE MAZE BACK!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!”

Who the hell was that? And what did he mean “she was the chosen one”? Mariela didn’t understand. She was under so much pressure, trying to save everyone and everything. Chosen one? Why was she the chosen one? How did she “have the power”? She sat here thinking about all of this, and also running out of the time.

She turned around, running back in the direction of the broken mirror. She stopped and stared at it, looking down at the shard in her hand. “How the fuck am I supposed to do this?” she mumbled, before getting down on her knees in front of the shard. She looked down at the shard again, before moving to place it by her side. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this… But it’s worth a shot.” she spoke. She held her hand over the pieces of the shattered mirror, the pieces falling back into place. Now, she needed to just take the shard and place it into the only open spot. Right? She hoped that was right. She picked up the shard… the blood now dried in place… before pressing it in place, like she was placing the last puzzle piece in a puzzle.

Artie:  Bandit’s eyes had widened at the appearance of the angel-like male, larger than ever before. Her whole body had begun to feel numb, her breathing somewhat labored now. Oh god, was this how she was going to die.. Again? As she was cradled in the arms of the male, her body felt oddly warm… Though, a blinding white had begun to intrude on the edges of her sight, her lips parting as her eyes fluttered. It became hard to gaze around, her head becoming terribly dizzy as she felt a terrible surge of nausea… And then the sounds around her became muffled, as though she was underwater in a pool and listening to everyone talk. Not even Habib’s words were completely legible, despite how he would roar them..

Clang!

The dagger once in her hand fell to the ground as Bandit went limp, her head tilting back over Habib’s arm. Her hand hung over his forearm, her hand dangling with her wrist bent towards the ground and the fingers splayed as her grip on the dagger was lost completely. Bandit’s eyes were closed and she seemed still, despite her soft breathing. This was the only indication that she was alive, as her skin had begun to pale. Habib could feel the thick wetness of her blood on his hands. In the short time she had been held by him, her blood had already been spilt enough to drip onto the ground below her. She had succumbed to the tempting feeling of unconsciousness…

Bandit was going to die.

Greed : The Masquerade Ball – Maze

~Broken fragments~

It was a nightmare. People calling to the witch, begging for help and then those that roared from across the field where the maze was now flickering in and out that the witch had the power to save them all. The poor girl must have felt like her head was about to spin off her shoulders. Who to save first? Where to turn? How to use her magical powers to set things right again. The giant was now looking like a ghost as his form was fading more and more. One of his legs disappeared from view and the bulk of him crashed to the ground as though he was being wiped out of existence. The Scotsman tried to speak but now his voice was practically a whisper. Gone were the big booming vocals that they had all been used too. The very threads of magic that held everything together were snapping one by one like guitar strings. With only a few remaining as the wave of panic had hit the little witch. In her hand was the blooded shard, the final piece of the broken mirror puzzle. In that shard, you could see the eyes of the Alp – staring at her with a look of sorrow. He couldn’t hear what was happening, but had almost given up all hope.

“How the fuck am I supposed to do this?”

“Believe in yourself.” A ghostly voice whispered in her ear. A voice that she had not heard in the longest time. It was the voice of her Mother. Somehow, in another world she still had that loving connection that one does with the spirit world. In Bandit’s heart she would be able to feel the power of love that was now being sent through via this one connection that held firm

“Your greatest power…is the power of love.”

As Mariela swept her hand across the many shattered fragments that were strewn across the ground, they all began to shimmer and rise slowly into the air. Pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that were the mirror – the enchanted mirror. A strange pinky like aura swept all the pieces together and one by one they began to fuse as the mirror itself solidified and was becoming whole. The frame like a golden halo was being recreated in a blaze of fire and sparks as the magic became stronger and stronger. It was Mariela’s love that was the greatest power in all of Hell – something that Lydia never had, nor could possibly understand. With the final piece of the puzzle in her hand, she was able to place it into the middle of the mirror…..

A glowing radiated as the piece fell into place, and the roar of power continued to spread as if by magic, the entire maze came back greater than before. Green and lush, but instead of the dark thorns, radiant flowers came to grow in the darkest parts. Beautiful statues, and gushing water fountains were springing up as the Giant was picked up by this same magical aura and his leg popped back into being.

“You’re doing it, little witch!” The giant roared with a happy laugh that sounded out all the way to where the rest of the party were standing. It was the most beautiful thing to see in the gardens of Envy. The evil of Lydia washing away and being replaced by the balance that was the Witch. Did she truly deserve to be the Princess of Envy? No….she deserved to be something much greater than that. She had sinned, yes…..but all for love.

As the Giant landed on the ground with a thud, he stared forward and then trudged over to the Witch to pick her up in a sweeping hug and turned her around. “You did it!” then he looked over her shoulder and roared “LOOK!”

Inside the mirror, the Queen of Hearts was twisting and contorting, as the opposite of Lydia was now feeling the death of her counterpart. It was destroying the magic bond that she had and now that meant that the one that had been pulled into the mirror, could be freed. The alp’s head, which had been cut off by the Executioner’s axe rolled around and then sailed back up and locked back onto Scar’s neck. Twisting till the face came back around to face the view on the outside of Wonderland. Scar snatched up his hat and then placed it snugly upon his head. He could see his beloved Mariela, and with one last wink at the dying Queen, he stepped out of the mirror – and back into the maze of Greed.

“I’m back? I’m BACK!” Scar danced about all excited. “I have my head….and my hat…and…” he looked to Mariela and bowed low. “My Princess.”

Yes, it was a time of celebration – but on the other side of the maze, someone was dying.

Habib looked down, seeing the dagger fall from Bandit’s hand, and feeling her body slacking.

“No! Bandit…wake up!” Habib patted her face twice, before looking up at Raul. The Warlock was just as shocked at Habib was. For all the evil that he was, he didn’t want her to die. Forgetting himself, he moved to Habib’s side and waved his hand over the wounds that had caused her to bleed out. His hand tremored and shook as you could see he was trying to use his magic to seal her wounds closed…..but it wasn’t working. “Why isn’t it working?!” The Warlock had never had this experience before. He was gritting his teeth and doing his darnedest to make the bleeding stop.

“Because it was your poisoned soul that did this! You fool. You damned fool.”

“I love her! I always loved her!” The Warlock was now frantic as he racked his brain on how to help her.

“You have a sick way of showing it, Raul. We need to get her to the witch.” Habib gestured to the others, as the maze started to open to lead the group to Mariela and Scar.

Phyln:  Walking through the corridors of the maze Solomon was slightly surprised as it began to fade away. Ceasing his march he gazed around as the old walls of the hedges flickered Something had happened though he was unsure what but whatever had created this maze no longer had a hold over it, This was a rare occurrence that he had seen something of this scale exist solely through magic, this did however create an eagerness within him to find what he came for. Through the mild transparency he was able to catch a glimpse of his goal the force that drew him here, the death of a powerful being. Quickly approaching the corner he peered through at where Lydia had fallen, the power was still strong so her soul remained intact for him to gather. He contemplated trying to walk through the walls now that they were only partially in this world however saw too many possibilities for a negative out come from that. however being able to clearly see his goal he no longer needed to rely on it pull alone and was able to make work of the maze.

Finally reaching Lydia’s corpse, or at least what was left of it he began his assessment. Closing his eyes he began to feel around the ethereal for the spirit, his eyes snapping open as he found it. The soul of a prince of hell, this was a very rare and very powerful specimen and even more so than finding one he was surprised that someone had managed to kill her. he contemplated going to collect their soul too but that would be a task for later for now he needed this one. no ordinary vessel would hold the power of one of the rulers of hell it would simply burst and leave nothing behind, digging deep into the pockets of his coat he produced a small blue silk bag, adorned with beads, charms, and patterns stitched in gold thread. Not wanting to risk losing it by storing it in a weaker container his decision would be to use his best and hope he would not come across a stronger one. Closing his eyes again he now went after the soul with the intention of collecting it.

Dessy:  Tessa’s eyes widened in panic as Bandit’s eyes started to close, the dagger falling out of her hand. The brothers turned to glare at Raul, Sean speaking up after he voiced his panic. “Your magic isn’t going to work to heal her.” Sean spoke. “A tainted and evil soul can’t heal someone who’s as bad as her, especially since you were the one who caused this.” he then spoke, receiving a nod from Tessa.

“He’s right. Our sister’s magic is the only way you will be able to save Bandit.” Sam spoke. “Guys, look!” Tessa then spoke, pointing to the maze as it rebuilt itself. But this time, it had water fountains, and flowers, and it had actual beauty that it didn’t have before. “Marie saved the maze.” she then spoke, before running in the direction the maze opened to. She gestured for the others to follow, before following the sound of the Giant’s voice. “Mariela! Bandit needs you! Now!” she called out.

——–

Mariela had heard the voice, and a shocked gasp came from her mouth when she recognized it as her mother’s. Sure enough, the pieces rose into the air and fit back into place like a jigsaw puzzle. Then she placed the final piece into the middle of the mirror, after watching the frame build itself back up.

Mariela would’ve never guessed her love was the secret all along. But it made more sense now. Her kindness, her heart, her love for every living thing. The love she felt for people close to her – it all made sense now. She stood up, turning as she watched the maze rebuild itself. A smile slowly apepared on her face as she saw the flowers, and the lush green, and the waterfalls. It was working.

https://i0.wp.com/cdn4.teen.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/candice-accola-smiling.gif

She let out a laugh at the Giant’s voice, turning to face him as he, too, came back. She turned her head to continue watching the maze, before she was all of a sudden picked up by the Giant. “Woah!” she exclaimed, before laughing as she was spun around. After she was placed on the ground, she turned to look at where the Giant was looking at. She watched as the Queen of Hearts began dying, then watched as Scar’s head seemed to place itself back on his body, before he stepped out.

She watched Scar dance around, laughing as she did so. He then turned around to face her, bowing, and Mariela curtsied. “Hi, Scar.” she said with a smile. She didn’t say anything on his “my” comment this time. Not a single thing. She knew he said it… she just didn’t say anything. Before she could do or say anything else, she heard Tessa calling out to her. “Celebrate later. Bandit needs help.” she spoke, before turning around. “Come on!” she called to the giant and Scar, before running in the direction of Tessa’s voice.

Mariela stopped as they met up, immediately looking at Bandit. “Oh, god.” she started, before running towards the winged creature that carried her. “Let me see her. Quickly.” she spoke, holding her arms out to take Bandit from him.

Greed : The Masquerade Ball – Maze

Existing yet not. Caught between dimensions but able to see what is happening about her. It was a true nightmare. All her plans lay in waste and now the Witch was making the maze even more beautiful and lush than it was under Lydia’s control. Sweeping sad eyes could see the beauty, and she hated it. Hearing those that the witch loved returned to her as the mirror was fixed. The Death of the Queen of hearts in the world of Wonderland, meant that her hold there had gone. The maze’s resurrection was the true sign of her lost of power in this realm. What would happen to her now? Did the Devil laugh at this pathetic woman’s soul?

But little did she know that there was one moving through the maze, that had foreseen her demise and now was coming to collect the pieces. Pieces that were strewn about, but the one piece that was most vital to him. Her very ethereal spirit. Whether she realized it or not, that contained a great deal of power, but she simply could not use it, since her vessel was currently strewn about like a large tub of green goo.

Lydia had to turn away from the scene going on just a few metres away. They could not hear her, nor see her falling tears. But it was then she saw him The one that had come to collect. He was carrying a small blue silk bag, adorned with beads, charms, and patterns stitched in gold thread. Lydia watched him closely. He was not part of the Wtich’s party. She suddenly felt this strange sensation, that was like pulling on her very essence. Silently she started to scream as she was being sucked into the bag.

Scar and Mariela both ran for the spot where Habib was holding Bandit. Raul was not far in behind, but the look of devastation was clear as day. Scar snarled angrily when confronting the warlock again. If it weren’t for the fact that Mariela was so to the man holding Bandit, the Alp would have leaped past and tried to throttle the warlock for all he had done to them. Instead, they merely exchanged foul looks, while Habib was offering Bandit’s limp body to the young witch.

“She’s heavy like this.” Stating the obvious. He knew the witch’s strength lay in her powers, not so much physical. With Bandit having bled out, and Raul not being able to seal the wound due to his poisoned magic, she needed healing from one that had the human touch. For Habib to take Bandit to a place where he knew she could be healed, they may well be no coming back. The doorway to his world was fast closing. It was the way of magic. It always came at a price.

Raul came up alongside Habib, and though the two hated each other, the winged one did not protest. It was pretty clear that Raul’s feelings for Bandit, though twisted were true.

“I can’t fix her. Please…I beg you.” There were tears in Raul’s eyes as he cast his gaze over the dying Bandit. “I gladly give my life for hers.”

That was bound to bring a shocked gasp from those around, who had seen him at his worst. Scar snarled and then reached through to slam his hand around Raul’s throat. “You try anything….and I so swear, I will end you here!” Scar didn’t trust the warlock, even now.

The Maze of Greed

The shield like barrier that the twins constructed around Mariela was enough to stop the first green blasts of energy from reaching their target. Crackling and then exploding into nothing but green puffs of smoke, it was enough to create a diversion from the efforts to get Bandit well clear of the Princess of Greed’s wrath. Raul however WAS paying attention and went to move forward in a bid to go after the crippled girl, but Lydia put her arm up to stop him.

“Did you so easily forget what I said…Warlock?” There was a terrible menace to Lydia’s tone, as she again rounded on her true target, Mariela. The young witch was now facing her nemesis – the woman she once trusted with everything. Now it was truly a showdown worthy of the book of Shadows. Lydia’s face was one of annoyance, but it soon turned to a sadistic smirk. She didn’t remember ever having young men in the maze. And how was it possible that they were able to create a magical shield, like Mariela could. Lydia’s green eyes sparkled as she stared the trio down.

“My my my…what have we here? Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum?” She was actually quoting names from Alice in Wonderland, which was interesting considering that the doorway or rather looking glass to Wonderland was right behind them. “I don’t remember the two of you, from the Fallen Mansion.” Lydia said with a ripe curl to her lips. She ran her tongue along her top row of teeth as she mentally calculated what it would take to bring down the shield. On another note, Lydia had seen the girl run off with Bandit. The smell of that girl was distinctly human. Lydia’s eyes flashed towards Scar, who was standing just shy of the shield.

“You little bastard. Use your hat to get reinforcements against me?”

“Wasn’t that hard, Lydia, since tall dark and stupid over there – sent me to get them Oh, by the way…is that a new face? Rip it off some poor innocent that was fucking your latest flavour of the month?” Talk about being accurate. Raul shot the Alp a nasty look, while Lydia reached up to touch the stretched new skin over her deformed face beneath. The alp was triumphant in hitting a raw nerve. “You could steal the pink ass of a baboon and try to cover your narky features, and it still wouldn’t be something I’d want to touch.” The alp was now dancing around as he could practically see steam coming out of Lydia’s ears. Raul had to suppress a laugh, since he himself thought that it was funny. Lydia snapped her head around and growled at Raul.

https://i1.wp.com/static1.purebreak.com.br/articles/4/10/90/4/@/54624-hook-colin-o-donoghue-620x0-1.jpg

“Do you want your little cripple to suffer my wrath when I am done with little Miss Perfect and her boys?”

“She’s mine to deal with, Lydia.” Raul growled, now feeling that she was walking on dangerous ground.

“Well, laugh it up cause the curtain is about to come down on this performance.”

While the pair were busy arguing, Scar whispered out of the side of his mouth to the twin holding the collar.

“Use your powers, to throw it at her neck. It should lock on. That will bind her use of magic and you can finish this.”

~RB~

Dessy:  As the green blasts of light hit the field, they exploded into nothing but puffs of smoke. Mariela tilted her head as Raul attempted to follow Tessa and Bandit. Lydia put her arm in front of him to stop her, before speaking to him in a menacing tone. “What’s wrong, Lydia?” Mariela spoke in a sympathizing tone. “Don’t want your little lapdog going after another female?” she spoke, giving him a sarcastic smile afterwards.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/b21785920337f4e765dfd26d7134658d/tumblr_inline_mlcyowyXXS1qz4rgp.gif

As she spoke about her brothers, Mariela turned to look at them. At this point, the force field was off, leaving her vulnerable – not that Mariela was worried. “They’re my brothers. Remember, the one’s I told you about? They’re witches just like I am.” she spoke, turning to look back at Lydia as she spoke about her brothers. Her head turned to Scar when Lydia spoke to him, and she nodded. “Your little “boy toy” sent him away to there. And he brought my brothers with him.”she said. She turned to speak to Scar, and Mariela turned her head to look over at Scar when he started talking.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/74263f0b38dc8308a20e1a952b3a7ec0/tumblr_inline_n1bgsqbAly1rg5w1l.gif
Mariela crossed her arms as Scar spoke, before turning to look at Lydia. “That is a new face, isn’t it? It doesn’t help anything… you still look like a traitorous bitch.” she spoke with a serious expression, shrugging her shoulders afterwards. She had to bite her bottom lip to stop from laughing as Scar commented on her face. But when she growled and turned to Raul, Mariela raised her eyebrows in a fake shocked expression.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/36de16c24da0345bb6f5cbb50de30b81/tumblr_inline_mlcygrm2T21qz4rgp.gif
Hearing the threat, and then Raul’s threat back, caused Mariela to laugh. “Careful Lydia… You wouldn’t want him to leave you for another woman again, now would you?” she spoke, tilting her head as she spoke to her, before turning to look at Raul. “And you have nothing to worry about – she’s perfectly safe. But she is not yours to deal with.” she then spoke.

Meanwhile, Scar was whispering to Sean about putting the collar around Lydia’s neck. He nodded, before looking at his brother and also nodding. Mariela just needed to keep distracting her with talk while they did this. Sean began moving to stand next to Mariela, Sam standing on the other side. They did this while Lydia and Raul were talking. Now, to wait for just the right moment… they only had one shot.

The Maze of Greed

Seeing Mariela with this new and bold attitude did not sit at all well with the Princess of Greed. Lydia had thought that butter would not melt in the girl’s mouth before, and yet the girl was now a kitten that was baring her claws. Such a change, that the Princess had to wonder just how that happened to be possible. Was it due to the fact that she now had her brothers here to back her up? Would she react any differently without the help of the hapless Scar?

https://i2.wp.com/25.media.tumblr.com/decd1fdc3e01aa6833f41191eeab4eaf/tumblr_mexj4mb7Zi1rf6x0go4_250.gif

Lydia lowered her arms as the girl was now giving her a good mouthful about how Raul could possibly leave her for another woman, namely the one that had just been taken to safety by the human Tessa. Raul still had his eyes on the direction that the pair went and he was practically twitching to leave Lydia to her own mess, and go seek out Bandit for himself.

Lydia’s eyes glowered when Mariela said her new face still made her look like a traitorous bitch. Her eyes flickered over to Scar, who could be seen whispering into one of the brother’s ears. If anyone was a traitor, it was Scar. How the Princess bristled with anger to watch the demon that she herself brought out of the book of shadows, turn and support the likes of Mariela. What none of the small group realized was that the Queen of Hearts was watching all this in the mirror and was making gestures that suggested she had plans of her own for the Alp. She had brought alongside her a few of her card guards, and one…executioner. They assembled quietly behind the mirror, while in the maze, the Princess and Mariela were facing off.

“I think a tea party is in order….Hatter.”

Hearing the Queen of Hearts speak, the Alp turned his head, but this meant he did not see Lydia raise her arms and fire a massive green bolt of energy that sent him spiriting backwards….right into the mirror. Scar appeared on the other side of the mirror, and was grabbed forcibly by two of the Queen’s guards. The alp kicked and screamed, thrashing about wildly as he was now caught in the one place he dreaded most – Wonderland.

“Now, he is out of the way. Time to make you pay, Mariela.”

In the mirror, the two guards held Scar down as the executioner brought up his axe. One of the crimes for disobeying the Queen was to lose one’s head – even if he hadn’t really done anything to the Queen, this time. Scar screamed and pleaded, as the Queen laughed at the hat wearing alp. The Queen of Hearts raised her head in triumph as she knew that Princess Lydia would get her revenge and then some.

https://i2.wp.com/24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1mwqk4wH91qf92lxo1_500.gif

“OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”

There was an almighty scream as the axe whistled through the air….when….

~CRASH!~ The mirror was shattered into a million pieces….by the axe wielding giant. Duggie had come out of nowhere and for reasons that could not ever be explained in his fury at being struck out of the maze by the Princess he was now on a rampage.

https://i0.wp.com/img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130103204133/disney/images/thumb/a/a2/Brave-disneyscreencaps.com-9742.jpg/573px-Brave-disneyscreencaps.com-9742.jpg

“THERE….DESTROYED YOUR FOOKING MIRROR, YA TROLLOP!”

He didn’t know, but he had just sealed Scar’s fate. Without the mirror…there was no way to save the alp. Headless or not.

https://i2.wp.com/thalias.eu/wp-content/plugins/akismet/captain-hook-once-upon-a-time-gif-i17.gif

“My mirror?!” Raul cried and slapped his palm to his forehead. “You giant idiot.”

“I’ll deal with you later, ya big jessie. Where is Bandit? She will lead me to Quinn.”

It was now or never for Mariela and her brothers. The final chance to take down Lydia in the middle of the confusion. Raul blurred from the spot where he was standing, and then went on the hunt for Bandit himself, leaving a screaming Lydia in his wake.

“GET BACK HERE, YOU FOOL!” Her cries were sure to bring back nothing but silence from Raul, who was now searching another part of the maze for Bandit and Tessa. Rounding on the Witch and her brothers, Lydia growled.

“You are nothing without Scar and your human friend to help you against me. I AM…THE PRINCESS OF GREED!” She was charging up and growling fiercely as she began to warp and twist into a massive green coloured dragon. Snapping at the sky as she went to blow a huge green fire ball at the trio below.

https://i0.wp.com/38.media.tumblr.com/9fd342800fa1e939e6186e6a8f446543/tumblr_n6mtrqQiw41re0zyqo2_400.gif

~RB~

Dessy:  Mariela was showing a different side that wasn’t seen before. She was baring her claws. Lydia completely underestimated the witch. She was a lot more than Lydia thought she was. A lot more than what Lydia saw of the young witch. And, honestly, she was tired of whatever game it was that Lydia was playing. Lydia lowered her arms when Mariela spoke about how Raul would leave her for Bandit. She seemed to hit the right nerve – that was always a good thing.

Mariela’s eyes shot towards the mirror when the Queen of Hearts spoke. She looked up just in time to see Lydia shoot a green bolt of energy at Scar. “No!” she called, but the Alp already ended up in the mirror. Mariela watched as Scar kicked and screamed, turning back towards Lydia when she spoke.

“OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”

She heard the Queen of Hearts scream, and she turned her head to see the axe in the air… and then the mirror shattered into a million pieces, by none other than Duggie. “No!!” Mariela screamed, turning her head towards the Giant. “What are you doing?! There’s no way to get him back!!” she screamed at the giant.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/512a8852b9c259121242ea4c2e240292/tumblr_inline_n1bgnbLGC11rg5w1l.gif

Her gaze shot back when Raul spoke, before he disappeared in search for Bandit. Lydia began screaming for him, but he never answered, and this caused Mariela to smirk. She held her hand out, removing the vines that covered the pathways.“Follow him. Now.” she spoke, turning her head towards her brothers. Sean, still holding the collar, threw it to Mariela before they both ran off to try and find Bandit and Tessa before Raul could.

https://i1.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/61372d3988a0da8d7c3eb4119c207d40/tumblr_inline_n1bguoXZka1rg5w1l.gif
Her gaze went to Lydia, her eyes staring her down in anger. Lydia spoke about her being nothing, and Mariela laughed.“That’s where you’re wrong, Lydia.” she started. “I am a lot more than you think I am.” she spoke. The instant Lydia turned into a dragon, the collar flew to snap around her neck, not giving her a chance to shoot anything at Mariela. Mariela was… angered. She wanted nothing more than to kill Lydia, once and for all. This was a new side to Mariela that no one has ever seen before.

She looked down to the shattered pieces of mirror. She then kneeled down, grabbing the sharpest piece she saw and picked it up. She held it up and ran a finger down the sharp end. “We’re going to end this… Once and for all.” she spoke, before she turned and began marching in Lydia’s direction.

She was not happy… and it was time she finally ended Lydia.

The Maze of Greed

https://i2.wp.com/img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131203053217/disney/images/a/a4/Smaug.gif

The Dragon was blasting fiery green flame balls at anything that moved in her path. Duggie, who was in her line of fire held up his battle axe and tried to deflect the powerful balls, only to find that his shaggy eyebrows and red beard caught fire. The poor giant let out a wild cry and dropped his axe, trying to distinguish the flames that were threatening to engulf his face. Seeing the giant having such trouble the dragon Lydia let out a loud and sinister laugh, with green smoke pouring out of her nostrils. There was nothing quite like seeing a giant Irishman on fire. Oh the colourful words he was shouting, it was enough to make a sailor blush.

With the boys now having taken off after Raul, it was down to the plucky young witch and the monstrous dragon Lydia. The dragon raised it’s head and roared loudly as it brought up a massive clawed foot to stomp down on the young Mariela. But just as she was about to crush the girl, the fabled collar that Scar had been forced to wear along with Bandit – whizzed through the air and grew large enough to snap around the dragon’s neck. The instant that the collar locked into place, the dragon screamed and thrashed about as the magic that had made Lydia turn into the beast was now being extinguished. Clawing at the air and stomping, its tail whipping out and thrashing the very walls of the maze, the dragon started to turn back into the sinister Princess of Greed. A great cloud of green mist seemed to absorb all of Lydia’s powers and flew into the very witch that had thrown the collar at her. It seemed that the collar had taken Mariela for it’s Mistress, and now Lydia was enslaved. Clutching madly at the collar, Lydia screeched and screamed in horror.

“YOU BITCH! YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME!….I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING…AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME!” Violent protests spewing from her mouth, as Lydia failed to see that it was she that had been the traitor to their friendship. Staggering back she raised her arms to blast Mariela to kingdom come, but as she aimed her fingers at the girl, nothing happened. Again and again she tried to charge power, that simply wasn’t there. At the same time, the beautiful face of the girl that she had stolen was beginning to melt off in horrid gloops that stained her beautiful dress. It was the most horrific thing that anyone could ever see. The true Demon that lay behind the fake mask, was a grotesque and ugly demon. Screaming even more in horror as she felt her face slide off, she started to cry.

“I’m melting…I’m melting..”

Duggie, who had managed to put out his smoldering beard, but now had no eyebrows, took one look at Lydia and then started to gag.

“Ohhhh that’s ugly…”

“My face!…My beautiful face..!”

Growling the demon turned on Mariela and with her clawed hands outstretched, she staggered at the girl, ready to choke the living daylights out of her.

~RB~

Dessy:  Duggie held his axe up in an attempt to block Lydia’s flames – but it didn’t work. His beard and eyebrows had caught on fire, and while he ran off to distinguish the flames, it left Lydia and Mariela face to face. Lydia the Dragon lifted up a foot to crush Mariela – but Mariela had the collar around her neck before she had a chance to do so. Mariela watched as she screamed and thrashed about, her body slowly turning back into her human form instead of the dragon.

All of Lydia’s powers flew through Mariela’s body. She could feel it. By this point, Mariela had reached to grab a shard of glass from the broken mirror off the ground, all the while leaving Lydia to scream and yell. Lydia screamed about how she gave her everything. She didn’t. She didn’t give Mariela anything.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/a49deb08837cfa9c21c1badc18003282/tumblr_inline_mlcxq1D8d91qz4rgp.gif
“You gave me nothing.” she spoke, continuing to walk towards Lydia. Sure, she could easily kill her with her magic… but Mariela would get more pleasure doing it without. She watched Lydia’s face melt, and heard Duggie mention from behind her about how… ugly it was. Lydia reached her claws out towards Mariela as Mariela drew closer, but it did nothing as the young witch stood in front of her. She then took that piece of glass, and shoved it straight through Lydia’s chest.

She held it there, feeling nothing but satisfaction at this current moment. She then pulled that shard of glass out of Lydia’s chest, at the same time as Lydia dropped to the maze ground. “You are no Princess of Greed.” she spoke, staring down at Lydia as she held the shard of glass in her hand by her side, dripping with blood.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/184ddf3e563b4e1542b92008bf84946f/tumblr_inline_mljzgu9nUI1qz4rgp.gif
She turned around then, facing the Giant. “Now… let’s go find that warlock…” she spoke, walking past him and in the direction Raul and her brothers ran off to. And she expected the giant to follow…

The Death of Lydia.

One thing that had been consistent with the Rulers of Greed was the fact that their end came sooner than it did to most other royals of Hell. Was this due to the fact that the very land itself is cursed by the insane need to have it all? The moment that Lydia had become the Princess of Greed, she was on the path to self destruction, just like her predecessor; Mammon. Now, she was facing down without her powers against the plucky little witch who had grown into a very powerful woman in her own right. It seemed that the Devil was spot on in his remarks of her, that she was perfect. Perfect to be the next ruler of Greed and all it’s lands. If only Lydia had not been so blinded by her ambition, her other fatal flaw, that she could see what was going to come.

Now with the Demoness charging at the witch, she was so blinded by rage, that she failed to see the flicker of light that reflected off the glass mirror shard that the witch was armed with. With cruel precision, Mariela rammed the glass shard deep into Lydia’s chest. The impact made a horrid squealching sound as it drove right into the demon’s heart. The disfigured face of the Princess contorted even more of one of shock. The glass tore a massive hole into Lydia’s heart, and blood poured outward, spewing from the wound where the glass went. Mariela pulled the shard out of Lydia’s chest, leaving the demon to stagger back – holding her chest as she stared at the witch with a wide eyed expression.

“What have…you done?” Her cry was almost breathless, as blood started to pour out of her mouth. Lydia dropped to her knees as the young witch stood over her in triumph.

“You are no Princess of Greed.”

Lydia’s head drooped, but not before haunting words would leave her mouth.

“You….deserve to be in ….hell. You….you…are a murderer…damned…for eternity…” The now dying Princess’s head shook as she lifted her head one last time.

“You….may…be…the new….Princess…..but you….will die…..alone…”

The Princess then exploded in a foul gloopy green mess that covered all the maze walls. Sickening sounds of the gloop hitting the ground was the only sound that remained.

The Princess of Greed was gone.

Douglas wiped some of the foul slime off his face and then turned to follow the new Princess of Greed; Mariela. He marched over the broken shards of the mirror without looking down at it, but if he had…..he would have seen Scar’s face in every piece.

“Somebody To Love”

Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can’t get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard every day of my life
I work till I ache my bones
At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own –
I get down on my knees
And I start to pray
Till the tears run down from my eyes
Lord – somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me – somebody to love?

(He works hard)

Everyday – I try and I try and I try –
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I’m goin’ crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah – yeah yeah yeah

Oh Lord
Somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
I’m ok, I’m alright
Ain’t gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

The Maze of Greed – Part Thirteen : SS.

It was only a matter of time before Lydia, the Princess of Greed herself, caught up with Mariela and her family.  Would the young witch finally realize that her powers were much greater than the evil demon’s?

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed – Seven sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  The hat shook and quivered in her hand, and before Mariela could react the hat fell on the ground. Sparks and electricity poured out of the hat, and then a large cloud appeared. Soon enough, she saw a… surprisingly handsome… and happy Scar appear. He seemed to be looking around, before looking at her. Mariela gave him a smile, before he jumped up and ran in her direction. Before she knew it, her shoulders were grabbed and he had pulled her in for a hug.

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/56b6ebd56289688b02924c18fd6cefb0/tumblr_inline_n1tjr0jwGt1rg5w1l.gif

Mariela laughed, wrapping her arms around him in a hug as he spoke with joy. “Yes, I’m alive.” she spoke. “And I missed you too, Scar.” she then said. Once Scar realized they were still in the maze, he pulled away and began questioning her, then looking to her brothers. “Well, we were, but then-” Sean said, until Mariela held up her hand to stop him. “We were heading there, but unfortunately we had to stop because-“ she spoke, before she got interuppted by Scar’s outburst about Lydia being in the maze, following his gaze towards the green sky.

“That’s exactly why we had to stop and call you.” Mariela then spoke, nodding her head. She watched Scar put the hat on, and couldn’t help but give a sweet laugh at his happy sigh. “Glad to have you back, Scar.” she spoke. “Yes. We need to find the mirror.” Tessa spoke up with a nod, readjusting Bandit in her arms.

“Wait. Anyone see that?”

Mariela turned her head to follow Scar’s eyes, her brows narrowing in confusion. “Uh… no…” she said, turning back to look at Scar with that same confused look like he was nuts. But, then she looked again and saw the rabbit, and she had an even more confused look, but didn’t have time to act on it before Scar grabbed her hand and began running in that direction, causing a “woah” and a surprised gasp to escape her lips.

She looked over at her brothers and Tessa, gesturing for them to follow, and after they ran behind them, she turned back to Scar, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion and worry. “Scar… are you positive we should be following this rabbit? What if it’s one of Lydia’s tricks?” she asked, but followed anyways, half being pulled by Scar and half running on her own.

The small bundle of white fluff in the plaid waist coat was bouncing well ahead of the group. His fluffy little tail twitching and flitting back and forth. The sound of the fob watch was quite loud, and this was most unusual for such a small time piece. “I’m late…I’m late.” He cried, as he scampered through the maze. Bouncing with a lot of energy for such a rabbit. He was clearly not of this world, not Hell…but most likely of the maze. OR he was somehow connected to the mirror. That had to be it.

Mariela didn’t like this at all. Following a small white rabbit to God knows where? She tried to pull Scar up and beg him as to why they should follow the rabbit as it might be one of Lydia’s tricks. Being yanked into place, Scar took both of Mariela’s hands and stared directly into her eyes.

“When was the last time you saw a rabbit in Hell, hmm? Aside from the kind that you would hunt in the forest. That rabbit,” Scar pointed to the direction that the rabbit had gone. “was talking in common, and wore a waist coat. Ever heard a rabbit do that before? Hmm?” The Alp was trying to make her see reason. “Remember that anything that fanciful that could almost be story like came from somewhere. Imagination is a powerful thing. You ever stopped to wonder how we all came to be. You…and Lydia brought me out of a book.” This was something that he hoped might make Mariela get what he was trying to say. “What if…this maze was from another book. Someone’s imagination. It is entirely possible.” The more he spoke however, the greater distance that the rabbit was making.

They were losing precious time, and Scar started off again – hopefully with everyone including Bandit behind them.

Three more turns of the hedge and there it was. The mirror. The rabbit was standing just shy of it, but here was the thing. The rabbit had no reflection, though the mirror showed the same hedge in behind it. As it turned to see the oncoming group, it flicked it’s little tail and jumped into the mirror, then only to reappear on the other side, where it scampered away down the maze within.

Scar came to a screeching halt, panting heavily as he watched the rabbit continue to run on. The alp looked at the mirror and then recognized the roses that were in the bushes on the other side.

“That bitch.” Scar muttered. He recognized the maze on the other side of the mirror. It was all starting to make perfect sense now. He stopped and turned to the others.

“I know who she is….”

Did he mean Lydia….or the other one in the mirror?

“She’s the Queen of Hearts.”

“Right again….Scar.”

That voice coming from within the mirror, was none other than….The Queen of Hearts herself. And the thing that was most shocking, she looked exactly like Lydia. “Aren’t you coming to join me for tea….Hatter?” In the mirror, the Queen was standing with her card guards, and the white rabbit. It was like they were all waiting for them, the Queen grinning like a fool. She called him the Hatter, which is not what Scar was in this world. He was an alp…a demon of nightmares with a magic hat. In Wonderland however….he was someone else….everyone was.

Charging around the corner though….was Lydia and Raul.

“Ahahahahaha. FOUND YOU ALL!” Lydia screamed, as Raul looked past her to see Bandit being carried. The Princess of Greed saw that the opposite of her, the Queen of Hearts was waiting on the other side of the mirror.

“Don’t worry, Queenie. These ones are all…MINE!”

She raised her hands as they crackled and sparked with the green balls of energy as she prepared to launch an attack on Mariela and her friend Tessa.

Mariela followed Scar as she heard the rabbit shout about being late. Late to what? The young witch was confused. Mariela had eventually stopped in her tracks, yanking Scar’s hand to get him to stop. Her brothers and Tessa stopped when they did. “Scar.” she said, and Scar grabbed both of her hands in his and then began speaking. As Scar talked, she shook her head to all of the questions. He had a point… maybe this rabbit wasn’t a trick. But, honestly, Mariela didn’t know. Soon enough, Scar had took off again and Mariela followed, the others following as well.

Soon enough they got to the mirror, and they had stopped. She tilted her head at the rabbit, seeing it had no reflection. The rabbit turned to face them… and then jumped in the mirror. This caused Mariela to widen her eyes in shock, looking at Scar after the rabbit jumped in the mirror. He began speaking and Mariela tilted her head, looking at him with a confused expression. “What do you mean “you know her”?

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzwtb9VuGq1r4kfic.gif

Mariela didn’t say anymore as a voice came from the mirror. She narrowed her eyes at this “Queen of Hearts”… she looked exactly like Lydia. The Queen of Hearts called Scar “Hatter”, and this made Mariela’s face turn into confusion. She didn’t understand. That didn’t last long as she heard Lydia’s voice screaming from around a corner.

“Ahahahahaha. FOUND YOU ALL!”

https://i0.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzwntd1S1Z1r4kfic.gif
Mariela whipped around, spotting Lydia and Raul. Her eyes went to Raul, then back to Bandit. Lydia spoke to the Queen, then held up her hands as they sparked green balls of energy. Mariela turned her head to look at Tessa. “Take Bandit and run. Now!” she shouted, and Tessa turned and began running. Once Tessa was out of sight, Mariela held her hand out towards where Tessa ran off too, and a wall of vines began appearing, blocking the path. She did the same thing to any open pathways. They weren’t going to be leaving.

Mariela dropped her hand and turned back towards Lydia. “Nice to see you again, Lydia.” she spoke… coldly. Her brothers moved to stand behind her, and they simply looked at each other, but did nothing more except for shielding their sister. The shield only lasted a few minutes… but it was good enough.

The Maze of Greed – Part Twelve : SS.

Desperate times call for desperate measures within the Maze of Greed. Lydia and Raul are now after Mariela, and she is going to have to figure out a way to get help. We are about to see the reuniting of our favorite couple.

Scene setting :  The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins Series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “Yes, well, whenever you’re being chased by a warlock and the Queen of all Bitches, you tend to forget things.” Mariela spoke in reply to Bandit’s question about her powers. Mariela wished she would have remembered sooner, because it probably would have made things a lot easier. But, it was a little too late for that now. As Mariela had picked Bandit up to start running again, she started asking questions that Mariela had no time to answer. No, she couldn’t call Scar and run at the same time – her hands were full at the moment. As for parting the hedges and making a way out, Mariela already figured that would be at lot more difficult to do than Bandit thought. But she didn’t have time to answer these questions as they ran.

As they ran, an Earth shuddering crash and the tremor it brought caused the group to stop in there tracks, gasping and grabbing onto the nearest hedge walls to balance themselves, Tessa reaching out with her free hand to grab Mariela and settle her. Once the tremor stopped and they regained their balance, Tessa looked at the brothers, then at Mariela. “What on Earth was that…?” Sean asked, only to have his brother respond. “I… I don’t know.” Sam spoke, and they all looked over at the silent Mariela.

https://31.media.tumblr.com/c557ee3f48553b99f4ad404a8d2bf8d4/tumblr_inline_mljz7y67qX1qz4rgp.gif
Mariela was silent for a moment before her eyes widened and she had this panicked expression. “Duggie…” she whispered, her eyes still widened as she looked down at Bandit. “That giant you were telling us about? She took down a giant?” Sam spoke in disbelief. “This woman is a lot more powerful than we thought to have defeated a giant.” he said afterwards.

“What are we supposed to do now? As long as the Giant’s down we have nothing to hold them back. We don’t even know a way out of here.” Sean spoke, and Mariela turned around to face Tessa. “Take her, and give me the hat.” Mariela spoke, and Tessa didn’t question it. She handed the hat to Mariela, before Bandit was placed in her arms. Mariela took the hat, thinking over on what she was about to do.

Mariela knew that no matter what happened, she would have to fight Lydia. But she needed everyone she could get – Scar included. But at the same time, she also didn’t want Scar getting hurt. She walked away, looking to the hat and biting the corner of her bottom lip. “Scar? Scar, I need you.” she called into the hat. She needed him, and he also needed to hurry. She didn’t know how much time they had before Lydia and Raul caught up to them. Hopefully, Tessa was right and this would summon Scar.

Desperate times called for desperate measures. And right now? Mariela was desperate.

Razorbackwriter:  ~ “Scar? Scar, I need you.”~

Within the charred ruins of Mariela’s family home, Scar was about to step over the police tape, when he heard the beautiful whisper of Mariela’s voice as he came from the very sky above. The alp stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes bulging due to being shocked that he would ever hear that voice again. The small demon could feel the smile creeping upon his face as he let out a loud laugh. Was it really her? Did she have the hat? The alp spun around and raised his arms out from his sides. The glorious feeling flowing through him. She needed him. Sending back her family in his mind would be enough to defeat Lydia, had they bothered to listen to his instructions to destroy the mirror in the center of the Labyrinth.

“She needs me!” He said with a small skip to his step. “SHE NEEDS ME!” But the more he said it, the more he started to realize that if she needed him, that those that were hunting her in the maze were going to harm her. Suddenly the Alp became angered. No, more than that….enraged. “SHE… NEEDS…. ME!” This time it was said with a guttural roar as the world that was inside Scar’s hat started to spin rapidly, the body of the Alp was the only thing not moving, though his clothing and his hair whipped about him violently. His eyes changed to the darkest red, as the demon within came charging to the fore. In a brilliant blast of red, black and gold, the Alp shot off from the ground…spiraling upward higher and higher till the very opening of the hat could be seen at last. Scar….was coming back!

https://31.media.tumblr.com/0dfe5c5ed73b4b4de46c582a65890081/tumblr_mxpmff1WRV1qavdr7o2_250.gif

If Mariela was still holding the hat when she made the desperate plea for Scar to return to her, it would start to shake and quiver in her hand. So much so that it would fall to the ground at her feet. Spinning violently, as sparks and electricity roared out of it in a show of magical power. Those simple words, were all she needed to bring the Alp back to her. She could have done it all along, but needed someone to tell her how. A large cloud appeared from out of the hat, and soon that very cloud formed into one very cheeky and rather handsome looking alp. Scar tumbled to the ground and rolled over before sitting up like his whole world was still spinning. The alp was back. Tapping the side of his head with his hand, he soon recognized the people around him. Tessa, Sam…Sean, Bandit and then….

“Mariela!”

He had never ever been so happy to see her in his life, and he sprang to his feet, the leaf litter falling to the ground at his feet. “You’re still alive! That’s great!” He reached for her shoulders and brought her in for a hug, just overwhelmed by it all. But his joy was soon to come crashing down when he realized that they were still in the maze.

“You haven’t destroyed the mirror yet?” That was of course his first question. He looked at Sam, then at Sean. “I told you to get her to the mirror. She has to break it.” Scar let go of Mariela, then he looked to the sky and saw the eerie green light that had come from where Lydia had taken down Duggie. That moment he realized she was in the maze made him nearly sick with fright.

“Lydia is in this thing?!” He could hardly believe that she’d enter it herself.

First things first, Scar picked up his hat off the ground and popped it back onto his head. The feeling of being reunited with his hat gave him the courage that he desperately needed.

https://i2.wp.com/static.tumblr.com/d078c0eb1c24644974477d2ceb97ce27/py6haqd/TXCnfozan/tumblr_static_d2ofw9doxhk4oo4sk4occwkkg.gif

“Oh…that feels better.” Scar let out a happy sigh, before giving his hat a good tap. “Right, we need to find that mirror.”Seeing that they had both Mariela’s brothers and of course Tessa to, meant that they could easily help with getting Bandit off the ground and moving with them. Time was now of the essence.

Out of the corner of Scar’s eye, he saw the flash of white. What looked like..

“Wait. Anyone see that?’ It was a white rabbit and it had hopped out of the hedge and dashed off down the maze before veering to the right. “FOLLOW THE WHITE RABBIT!” Scar yelled, grabbing Mariela’s hand and charging off after it.

He looked back over his shoulder and screamed at the others.

“WHAT YOU WAITING FOR?!”

The white rabbit only stopped to pull out a fob watch and bring it up to it’s ear, tapping it, before hurrying off again.

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Six : SS.

Scar has done all he can to help the boys in finding their way to the doorway of Hell.  Now, it was up to them to save their sister…..

Scene setting – The World in Scar’s hat. : Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  This was going to be a tough job for the boys – but it needed to be done. They had to be strong and brave. They had to do this. They didn’t want their sister to die again – they wanted far from it. Sean thought over what Scar had said; the power of three. Then it hit him. The three closest people to Mariela needed to unite to open the door to Hell. Those three people being Mariela’s dear brothers, and Mariela’s best friend. It was clear now – even if it meant having to go through the painful memories again, they had to do it.

Scar jolted up, and Sean looked at him as he did so. He was a bit dazed, and his hair smoked – but he was awake. That’s all that mattered. And, that creepy eye thing was gone. “Do you believe now that magic does indeed exist in this world? Mariela was proof of that.” he said, watching Scar. “Sam is outside, on the phone with Tes-” Sean started, only to have Sam run back in. “I’m heading over to Tessa’s to pick her up. She said grab everything you need, as well as the book and Mariela’s amulet. She said if Marie really is in deep danger, then she’ll need her amulet. It holds all of her power.” Sam said, receiving a nod from his brother.

“Teleport yourself and Scar to the place. I’ll teleport me and Tessa there after I get her.” Sam then said, nodding and then leaving the room. He wrote a note for their parents and pinned it on the fridge, saying they were out late with some friends and would be back later. Who knew how long this would take them? No need to worry their parents – and they couldn’t tell their mother what was going on. He then left and went – quickly – to grab Tessa. Sean turned around and picked the amulet off of the floor, before turning to Scar. “Sorry about that. It was the quickest way to wake you up.” he apologized.

Sean took a deep breathe, seeming to prepare himself for going back to that dreaded place. “Alright… Let’s go.” he said, and with a quick flick of his free hand, they disappeared from the house, and then reappeared a few feet in front of their old house – where Mariela was killed.

Razorbackwriter:  The basement room swirled into nothingness, only to next have Sean and Scar arrive on the footpath just outside what remained of the house that Mariela died in. The picket fence was still there, but you could see where the palings had been damaged by fire crews. The hinged gate was hanging by just one bracket and swung back and forth as though almost restless. The trees that were once full of flowers and brightly coloured leaves were still charred black. In the center of the yard was the burnt out remains of what was once a family dream home. It was like a skeleton, a hollowed out shell that still carried the air of death about it. Yellow police tape fluttered from tree to tree where investigations had taken place. It was both forlorn and in some ways very sad. This was not the place the boys would ever dream of having to return too. It was here that Mariela left this earth to never again feel the love in the families embrace, or the joy of being one with her family that she loved so much.

Scar’s face fell at the sight. He had seen many horrid things in his centuries of life, but this….this was made all the worse to know that Mariela suffered here. She gave her life so that her brothers may live theirs. Scar walked up to the broken gate, and at the touch of his hand it simply fell off the last hinge and collapsed to the ground with a clatter. The Alp winced and glanced back over his shoulder at Sean.

“Sorry about that.”

Letting out a sigh, the Alp ventured further up the path, as the breeze ruffled his hair. It was almost like Mariela’s fingers were teasing him. Was she with him in spirit? The Alp closed his eyes as though he wanted to feel her. Feel her so deeply to his core. Opening them again, he let out yet another sigh. Soon Sam and Tessa would join them, and then the spell could be cast to send the trio to her.

~RB~

Dessy:  They arrived at the footpath of the house, and immediately Sean flinched. He was already having flashbacks of that terrible day, as was obvious from the horrified expression on his face. His eyes looked around; the charred trees, the picket fence, the broken gate. This all brought back painful memories. But Sean took a deep breath, and began walking towards the house anyways.

Sean frowned as Scar touched the gate and it fell to the ground. When he apoligized, Sean just shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.” he said as they kept on walking. Mariela’s magic could be felt in the air – it was still here even after her death. Either that, or Mariela was somehow with them right now – to help them. Sean honestly didn’t know.

Once they reached the burnt up house, Sean froze. Visions of the fire reappeared again, and it took everything for him to not fall on his knees and cry. The plsce looked just like they left it – only difference being that there was police tap around it. Police tried investigating, trying to find out information – but they foung nothing. It was useless. Sean closed his eyes and held his breath for a few seconds, walking forward again as he opened them.

Meanwhile, Sam appeared with Tessa – who was a slim, tall, pretty brown eyed brunette who had short, shoulder length wavy hair. At the moment, it was in a ponytail. Sam and Tessa ran up the path, also getting flashbacks from the incdient… and they too, were having a hard time making it to the house. “We’re here!” Sam called, gesturing over to Tessa. “This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.” he gestured to Scar next.

“So, you’re the one in love with Marie?” Tessa gave a laugh. “I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.” she said with a smile.”And if she cares for you as must as it seems, judging by what Sam told me, and from the way her magic is felt in the air… especially aroudn you… she must love you, too.” she spoke. Tessa knew Mariela well – that much was obvious. She walked up to Sean, taking the amulet and the book, and then turning to face Scar. She looked at Scar, then the boys, and nodded. “Let’s get to work, then, shall we? Marie needs our help.”

Razorbackwriter;

Scar didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to feel the sadness that had now gripped Sean. When the young man came up alongside Scar and froze in his place, the Alp chewed on his bottom lip in an awkward fashion. He knew that this was not at all an easy thing to do. To face your fears. The greatest one, was the place that his sister gave up her life for him. For Sean, he could see not just the burnt out remains, but also the house in a different time…a time long before the hatred of the non believers would break their family apart.

The Alp was almost about to pat Sean’s back, when Sam called out from behind them.

“We’re here!”

It was Sam, with the girl that Scar had seen in the picture. So this was Tessa. The human friend of Mariela. Her best friend, and the keeper of her memories. Whether the twins believed it or not, it was Tessa who held the key to get to their lost Mariela.

“This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.”

Scar bowed politely, though it was a bit showy by ordinary standards. Everything was over done…but that was the Alp’s nature. On rising, he examined her with a critical eye, before hearing her laugh and comment about how he was the one that was in love with Marie.

“The Duchess…yes. And I prefer to call her, Mariela.” Scar’s cheeks flamed a bit, as the girl appeared to be making light of Scar’s crush for the young witch. When it came to Mariela, and her well being he was serious. At all other times, he was a wicked scamp of a creature.

“I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.”

Scar made a hmmph sound. He knew that Mariela didn’t feel the same way or as strongly as he did. He gave a false laugh, like a titter with a slight head wobble. “Oh, she can’t help but notice me. Mariela found me….hard to ignore.” It was then he beamed a large cheeky smile, before rolling his eyes and looking back at the twin boys. Tessa saying that Mariela must have loved him if her magic surrounded him. There was a connection….a very real one, but Scar had so much to worry about, and this would not concern him for the moment.

The girl was eager to get started, and Scar clapped his hands together.

“And…about time too.” This was the beginning of what would be Mariela’s rescue.

Walking up into the charred remains of the house, Scar scanned for the spot where she died. It wasn’t hard to find. The police had managed to do a good job of that, and this meant that it was easier for Scar to prepare for the ritual.

Seeing Tessa had the amulet and the book, Scar made a loud whistle for the boys to follow.

“Sean, you are to tie the handkerchief to the collar.” He then looked at Tessa. “You…dear, are to wear the amulet.”This may not have been what Tessa was expecting, but the alp had his reason for this. “Give me the book….and then I want all three of you to form a circle. You are all to place a hand on the collar in the middle, so that each of you are one with it.”

If Tessa gave him the book he would hold it out a few feet away from where the trio were standing, and let the pages fly open to the right spell.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.” Scar’s face grew dark as his eyes changed colour. The book had indeed a very strong power. “Only Mariela can summon me back. If she has the hat…..tell her to call for me. If not…..tell her I love her….and always will.”

Scar began to say the incantation, the words illuminating off the page in bright gold symbols as the wind picked up and howled around the trio. The jewels on the collar all started to illuminate one by one and their hands would start to tingle as the magic and power of their beloved Mariela was to take them on a one way trip……to hell.

The sky erupted over the house and a massive bolt of energy fired down, opening the ground beneath where the trio stood. Scar screamed the final words that was to send them on their way.

“DESTROY THE MIRROR!”

~RB~

Dessy:  Scar bowed to Tessa – and maybe over-did it a bit. Tessa just smiled and nodded her head, looking to the brothers before Scar began talking. He called her a… dutchess? Mariela was a dutchess? That was a bit shocking to the trio, to be honest. “Dutchess, huh? Never imagined Marie would ever be a dutchess. But, that’s not the concern at the moment.” Tessa spoke, shaking her head, but laughed when Scar said Mariela found him “hard to ignore”. “Hm… I bet.” she said. Tessa followed Scar up to the charred remains of the house, finding the exact spot where Mariela had died. Well… the police did one thing right…

Sam and Sean had waited, and once Scar whistled for them to go over there, the boys followed. Scar then began shouting out instructions… and they were eager to do as they were told. Sam held the collar, while Sean took the handkerchief and tied it around the collar like Scar instructed. Tessa gave a confused look when Scar told her to put on the amulet, but she handed him the book, before slipping the amulet around her neck, pulling her ponytail through it.

Tessa pointed to the spot where they were supposed to stand, before instructing the boys to stand in a certain spot. Tessa looked at them both, giving a nod of her head. The brothers looked at each other, before nodding at Tessa and then taking a deep breathe. Sean had his hand on the collar first, then Sam followed, and last Tessa.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.”

This caused all three of them to look at Scar… but Tessa just nodded. “I’ll make sure to let her know. See you soon, Scar.”Tessa said, before her and the boys shut their eyes. They felt the wind pick up, and their fingers started tingling. But neither of them let go. The sky erupted, and soon they felt a bolt of energy hit the ground… before it opened a hole and all three fell into it. They heard Scar’s final words right before they fell, and they all just nodded in agreement.

Then… they were gone.

Razorbackwriter:  And so they were gone.

Scar stood motionless as the great beam of light opened the hole beneath the trio that held onto the collar of Raul. As they all fell into it, there was an enormous crack as the earth groaned and protested for being violated so. Within a trice the hole closed once more, leaving Scar to be there alone in the charred remains of Mariela’s families house. The Alp bowed his head, closing his eyes as he felt Mariela’s magic slip away with them. The book that he had read from fell from his hands, with the pages falling open and turning, faster and faster till arriving at a blank page. Slowly Scar stared down at the empty page. Like the ending of a journal, or an unfinished diary. Was this significant? Crouching down, the Alp picked up the book and closed it slowly – bringing it to his chest. He didn’t know what Mariela was going through in the maze, or…if Raul and that bitch Lydia had her captured….or worse Would the twins and her best friend find her in time? Can their combined efforts save the witch….or will she be led to greatness?

Standing in the middle of the ruined house, Scar knew that it was futile to remain. The only way out was via the hat. It was how he was sent there, and again another rule he forgot to mention.

The only solace Scar had was that if and when the boys found their sister, she would have the family reunion to remember. Scar hoped that his sacrifice….was worth it.

The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Five : SS.

Scar is shocked at how those with magic in this world are treated.  He knows true evil and Mariela; along with her family were far from that.  Getting his bearings it is now up to the Alp to find the magic within himself to help the boys save their sister….

Scene setting – The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “You keep it all hidden away?”

At this question, the boys looked at each other, then Sean turned to Scar. “Yes. Magic isn’t exactly… praised here. We’ve always had to keep it hidden. Magic is considered nothing but pure evil – even if used for good, like Mariela’s was.” Sean spoke, looking at his brother, who nodded in agreement. “We started putting more effort into hiding it after Mariela’s death. The town found out we were witches and burned the house to try and kill all of us. Calling us “evil”, and “monsters”, and “wanting nothing more than to kill them all”.” Sam spoke, anger slightly in his voice by all of this. “You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?” Sam asked, before turning back around and walking to the chest.

Sean grabbed something off of the wall as they passed by, heading to the end of the room where the chest was located. It was an amulet – Mariela’s amulet that she wore at all times. The amulet helped her have full control of her powers, and it was also used to unlock various things of hers – such as the chest. The boys knelt down in front of the chest, and Sean held the amulet in front of it – then the chest popped open. Sam looked up at Scar, noticing he was looking at everything on the wall. “Look around, if you want. We’ll need to flip through the journals to find what we’re looking for.” he said, before both boys started digging through the chest.

They pulled out journals, most of them singed or with the cover almost completely burned off. A few other things were in the chest, like artifacts, for example – whatever were most valuable. There were a few video tapes lying around that, once again, given to them by Tessa. The boys didn’t know what exactly they were looking for – but they would look through everything.

As Scar looked around at the pictures, Mariela was seen through different ages of life. Most of them had Tessa in it, but they were there. Down to when she was a young child, up until her nineteenth birthday when she died. A few pictures were of Tessa and Mariela as young children. Some had them smiling, some had funny faces, in most of the younger one’s Mariela would stick her tongue out in a childish manner. The last picture that was taken was on her nineteenth birthday, three days before her death, as was obvious with a banner in the background that said “Happy 19th Birthday, Mariela!” and party decorations. Mariela was standing next to Tessa, one arm wrapped around her with a big, bright smile on her face, green eyes full of life and happy, and her blonde curls were like they always were. Tessa was kissing her cheek in a friendly gesture, holding a cup of punch in her other hand that wasn’t wrapped around Mariela. Mariela’s personality and life when she was here could be seen shining through the pictures… the life before she died.

The brothers didn’t hear what Scar had said, but Sean looked over hearing Scar speak to them, a bit startled by the sudden flair Scar seemed to have. “Alright. Come help us.” Sean said, handing a few journals to him. “If you see something that looks like a teleportation spell, or something dealing with this collar, let us know.” when he mentioned the collar, Sean picked it up, examining it closely now. Maybe there was some sort of writing on it… or some sort of symbols that could help them out here. Anything.

Razorbackwriter:  How odd this world was? Seeing magic as all evil and then murdering those that practice it? If humans went to Hell, the place where Mariela was now, they would see true evil in its most horrid forms. What Mariela and her brothers practiced was light magic, the kind that was good. Scar could see that, yet humans couldn’t. What a foul lot they were. Not appreciating what should be a blessing and not a curse. Scar knew all about curses. He knew what dark powers could do and what fueled them. Take Lydia for example. The Demon of Ambition. Oh, she appeared sweet and gentile on the surface, but she was darker than most of the other heads of hell. She was cruel, and one that thought of no one but herself. She fitted into the new role of Greed with such ease it was hardly surprising. The more that Scar thought of it, the more he realized that Mariela did not truly belong in Hell. She was in a way an Angel. Least in his mind. Perhaps that was part of the attraction. Loving something he could never have, or hope to be.

“You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?”

Scar shook his head. He didn’t think that Mariela had a bad bone in her body. In fact, she seemed almost reluctant to use her powers. She was so shy about them. Was it an insecurity, or was it the fact that her power was what led her to end up being in Hell?

“No, I don’t think she ever would. If anything she would use them to save another, given the chance.”

This was as honest as you would ever get the Alp to be. Having him open up…oh if only Mariela could see this. See the human version of the alp. it would be an eye opener. Watching the boys recover an amulet that Mariela used to wear, and then using it to open a chest, Scar was told to look around, while the boys rummaged through her chest. Scar gave a curt nod as he was more than happy to peruse through all of Mariela’s pictures and treasures.

One picture he simply couldn’t take his eyes off was the one of her celebrating her 19th birthday, with her friend Tessa. The young witch was so vital looking. Happy, so very happy. The world at her feet, and there for the taking. Yet it was not to be. Scar tipped his head to the side as he saw how the camera had captured that radiant beauty that he had come to love.

“So beautiful.” Scar uttered as he passed his hand over the picture. Only thing was as he turned away from it, the images in the photograph started to move. The girls becoming animated. The photo had come to life, and Scar didn’t know that it was he that had caused it. Again, he was unaware of the true power of the hat.

“Alright. Come help us.” Sean was now ready to have Scar help them in finding a spell. He handed the alp some journals and Scar took them, before finding a small chair to sit on. One by one, he started to flip through the pages. His eyes scanning back and forth across the text. One book, that sat beside him and was next on the pile to be read, had a symbol on the front. Aged and tattered yellow stained pages poked out haphazardly, while the symbol glowed with a sudden brightness, as Scar muttered some words, that he read on another page. Mariela’s magic was able to be reached, via the true connection that he had with her.

Turning his head slowly, he could see the glowing symbol and then whispered.

“I think I’ve found something.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Honestly, it was hard to live in a world where “magic” was seen as evil. There was magic much more evil then what the brothers and their sister practiced… but people believed all magic was evil. Except for Tessa. Tessa had found out on accident what the family were, but she saw the good they done with it and knew the goodness that Mariela had in her would cause her to use the magic for good only. Sure, Mariela was capable of doing dark magic with ease if she wanted to, but that’s the thing: Mariela didn’t want to. She wanted to use light magic. She wanted to use her powers for good… not evil, whether she was capable of doing it or not.

Tessa was the one who was always with Mariela when she practiced her magic. Watching, observing – she found it interesting that her best friend was so powerful, while she was just an ordinary human. She also found it interesting that a girl who could use both good and bad magic chose to only use the good magic and had no interest in practicing the dark. Tessa has seen what Mariela can do, when her brothers haven’t. Tessa was there for all of it. Every time Mariela wanted to try out a new spell – Tessa was called to be with her. Sort of just as comfort. She also documented things in some of the journals of what she observed and what Mariela explained. Mariela trusted Tessa with her life – which is why Tessa was the only one in town not involved in the fire, and the only person who ran back to the burned house after to comfort her family. Even now, she kept in touch with the family frequently – she was always treated like one, after all. Mariela and Tessa were like sisters.

Hearing Scar speak about their sister, the boys nodded in agreement. “Exactly.” Sam spoke, looking up momentarily. “I can’t recall a single incident where Marie used her powers for evil. She always used them to save someone else. She always put her life in danger to keep someone else from getting harmed – like what she did with us in the fire. She was always willing to risk her life, and sacrifice herself for others.” Sam said. He then looked back to the books, rapidly flipping through pages in an attempt to find something. A lot of this stuff was foreign to them – the boys never learning it, and Mariela never having the chance to teach it to them.

After Scar ran his hand over the picture, it came to life. The girls moving inside the picture – retelling what had happened on that day after the picture was taken. As the picture moved, Tessa could be seen wrapping her arms around Mariela in a hug, before her parents, brothers and other people there joined in for a group hug. They congratulated, and Mariela was laughing and smiling the entire time. The brothers never noticed the picture coming to life – they were too busy searching the journals.

“I think I’ve found something.”

Scar called, and the boys looked up at him. Scar was eager to help when asked for it, and he had grabbed a stack of books and sat in a chair. They turned their heads to follow Scar’s gaze, and Sean got up and walked to the now glowing book with the symbol on it. “How did you do that?” Sean asked, looking up and staring at Scar. “Actually, never mind… Hopefully this has what we need.” he spoke, and he reached over to pick up the book. He blew dust off the cover, and then opened the book to the first page. But he stopped as the pages of the book turned on their own, flipping through pages before carefully landing on a page that had just what they needed. Sam had gotten up by this point, walking over and standing next to his brother. Mariela’s magic could now be felt throughout the room… for reasons unknown. “Looks like Marie is still with us… and she already knows what we are looking for.”

Razorbackwriter:  Scar wasn’t entirely convinced that he had magic in this world. As far as he knew he was a normal human being, but the truth was that the magic resided within him, due to the Mariela. It was this connection that they had, that crossed beyond realms and reality. The awakening of those that were in the picture he touched was just the start. The boys were eager to see the book that Scar had been holding, and as the pages flipped through to the right place, it was clear that from the inscriptions, that they were going to need help on this. Not only that, because as Scar read the text he started to feel a pressing in his forehead. Little by little. His skin was stretching and the alp cried out as the emergence of a third eye appeared on his head. It was the most unnatural thing you had ever seen. A beautiful green coloured eye that was slightly larger than his other two. It may well have given the two boys a scare to see. Scar’s sudden cries might also have had them shocked.

Scar got up from his seat as the eye rolled around and around before finally settling. The eyelid opened and closed as though testing and the Alp was taking short sharp breathes. He reached up and waved his right hand in front of the eye, and it blinked a few times.

“I didn’t think I could do it.” It really was a shock. He still had some magic. Maybe not the hat, but something far more useful. The third eye. With shaking hands he picked up the book and then he started to go into like trembling fit as the eye flew wide open and projected a scene out into the room much like a hologram. What the boys would see, was the one thing that they would never wish to witness again.

The blazing fire that killed their beloved Mariela.

In a strange voice, Scar spoke. “This is the door way from this world to Hell. It is the way she traveled there. Take the collar, her handkerchief and her friend Tessa to the spot where the house stood.” Scar continued to tremble as the eye was now in control. “The power of three are needed to be united to fight the Demon of Ambition and Greed. The book will guide you.”

The holographic image soon faded out to nothing, and the eye closed – before sinking back into Scar’s skin. The alp then dropped Mariela’s book and passed out on the floor in a heap.

~RB~

Dessy:  Sean scanned over the page, moving his eyes across the words… only to end up shaking his head. “I don’t understand any of this. This is a lot more advanced than the stuff we can do. The inscriptions, the writing… I don’t understand it.” he spoke, handing the book over to his brother. Sam ran his fingers along the page as he read each word.”Marie never taught us this… Either she never got around to it, or she knew we wouldn’t be strong enough to do it.”

Both boys dropped the book and jumped when Scar started screaming. They watched with wide eyes as what appeared to be another eye appeared on Scar’s forehead. At the sight of the big green eye, the boys took a couple of steps back, their faces holding shocked expressions on them. They simply watched Scar, the eye blinking a few times and Scar waving his hand in front of it. They were discovering a lot of new things today.

“This is just as shocking for us as it was for you…” Sam said, but grew quiet when the eye opened up a hologram. What they saw, was not something they expected to see… and the one thing they never wanted to see again. The fire popped up – the same blazing fire that killed their sister. A gasp came out of Sean’s mouth, and he stumbled backwards, getting caught by his brother who had wide eyes and a horrified expression on his face. After standing his brother up, the boys listened to the words Scar said, but flashes of the fire just kept appearing back in their thoughts.

They needed to go back. Back? To the one place that they tried to run away from? From the town they never wanted to see again? They had no choice. They’d have to deal through the painful memory… to save their sister. “Back? We have to go back?” Sean called, dread clear in his voice. Scar passed out on the floor, and Sam ran to catch the book. “Yes, we have to go back.” Sam said, tossing the book to his brother. “I’ll go call Tessa and let her know. Grab the collar and the handkerchief, as well as the book, and see if you can try to wake him up.” Sam pointed to Scar, and Sean nodded. Sam left the room, pulling out his phone in the process.

Sean immediately turned around, facing Scar. He held out his hand and sent a burst of light towards Scar, in an attempt to jolt him awake. He then turned around, grabbing the handkerchief and then grabbing hold of the collar, placing them on top of the book, which he held tightly in his hand. He then waited to hear back from his brother after his phone call with Tessa. This was going to be hard… but they had to do it. They had no choice.

Razorbackwriter:
Darkness. Scar was out cold. Whatever it was that was so powerful to awaken his third eye must have still been present in that room. It was a pretty good guess, that Mariela’s magic was strong within her personal effects, and having touched and handle these items allowed for Scar’s own magic to begin to shine through. The third eye was able to see not only Mariela’s end, but the best and only way to reach her from this world. It was pretty simple really. The last known place of the witch before her terrible death was the house of her birth. The house that had been consumed by the devastating fire. Of course, it is the last place on earth that the brothers would ever wish to be, and being reminded of it was enough to startle and shock both boys. This was going to be a great test of not only their courage, but also acceptance. Going back to the root of your fear and facing it takes a lot of guts. But the reason to go back was to be able and find a way to reach their sister and save her from the evil within the maze. Did the boys understand what Scar was really asking them to do? By bringing Tessa into this, the three of them – all the closest people to Mariela; would need to unite and hold the collar as they stand over the very ground on where she took her last breaths.

As Scar lay on the stone cold floor, his body would be hit by a burst of light. A jarring sensation like an electrical charge would travel through him and the alp would awaken with a fright. His hair smoking slightly, Scar sat up looking dazed. His third eye had disappeared from his forehead, having gone back under his skin. Now he just looked human again.

“My magic worked!” The alp explained, a smile starting to form upon his lips. He had been so sure that he had no magical powers in this world without his hat, but little did he realize that it was Mariela’s power that rubbed off on him and helped him to assist her brothers. Bless her.

https://i1.wp.com/media.giphy.com/media/XFv0SkVD4sXm0/giphy.gif

Scar looked around for Sam, who was no longer in the room.

“Where is the other one?”

The alp didn’t know he was off trying to get Tessa. Seeing that Sean had all the things they needed to go and rescue Mariela, Scar was quick to get to his feet. Patting himself down, the alp did have one thing to say about being zapped awake.

“Next time, you could just slap my face to wake me up.” He did smell a bit like cooked bacon.

The Maze of Greed – Part Ten : SS

With Bandit being unable to walk, the Giant Duggie and the little witch have to try and find a way out of the maze….and fast.  The Demoness of Greed is coming….

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed – Seven sins series.

Written with Dessy, Phlyn, and Artie.

Dessy:  Mariela looked down to Bandit as she spoke, apparently knowing this “Quinn”. From the sounds of it, Bandit had ran into her… and she didn’t like it very much. Bandit then tried pushing herself up and turning her body to the side. Mariela knew she was in pain, and she frowned. “As soon as we get out here, I’ll promise I’ll help you. I can’t do anymore. Not in the maze.” she said, before looking up over at Raul. She watched the vines wound around his legs and feet. This was good. If he woke up, it’d give them a good chance to get away. But from the way he was hit, Mariela guessed he wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.

“Nice to meet you, Duggie.” Mariela said, giving a nod of her head in greeting. From the way the giant talked about Quinn, the two seemed pretty close. They seemed like they had a good friendship. Mariela raised an eyebrow at the mention of the maze. “You… work in the maze?” she asked. Then it hit her. Lydia took the maze from somewhere else… she wasn’t sure where, but she had took it from another place. Lydia probably added the creatures herself… she wasn’t sure if the creatures where already there when Lydia yanked it here to Hell.

“Mansion? What “mansion”?” Mariela then asked, tilting her head to the left. This was all very confusing. The maze was brought to Hell from another place… a “mansion” of sorts. And Duggie here had came with it, apparently. But how would Lydia manage to do that… and why? Those were the questions Mariela needed answers to. She gave a gentle smile when he talked about Quinn. “It’s good that she’s such a close friend of yours.”

Mariela then looked down at the hat when he picked it up. She watched him, scared he was gonna ruin it somehow. She opened her mouth to stop him from putting it on, but then he handed it to her and said someone was speaking. She put her head near the hat, hearing Scar screaming her name. “He’s alive.” she mumbled. “Scar?!” she said into the hat, but knew that was probably a stupid thing to do as he probably couldn’t hear her. She just held it against her chest. He was alive… but where was he? That was another question she needed answered. She heard the giant say “little witch”, but there was no “my”. Good thing. She was no one’s property.

She put the hat on the ground, looking at the bottom of the gown as she did so. She pursed her lips, before she reached down and began ripping the bottom of the dress. It’d be easier to walk in it if it was shorter. Once it was shorter, she threw the fabric on the ground. What was once a beautiful dress was now a torn mess. She then proceeded to yank her gloves off, throwing them down as well. She picked the hat back up, looking over just in time to see Duggie stand Bandit up.

“No, no, don’t!” Mariela said, running over to the side of Bandit. “She can’t walk because she can’t feel her legs. That’s my fault, but she’s in no condition to stand.” she said, informing Duggie of her injuries. “You know a way out of this maze?” Mariela asked, hope in her voice. “Good! Great!” she said, happy someone knew a way out. She handed Bandit Scar’s hat, then adjusted her arms so she could pick up Bandit, now holding the girl who couldn’t walk. The small witch was stronger than she looked, but she knew she couldn’t hold her for long periods of time. Her and Duggie will have to switch back and forth. “I know you probably hate this, Bandit. And I’m sorry. I’ll fix everything once we get out of here. I owe you for making things worse…” she spoke apologetically.

She then looked up at Duggie. “Help us out of this maze, then we’ll help you find Quinn. Okay?”

Phlyn:  Solomon continued to watch from a distance as the giant spoke with the others. Quietly leaning on his cane he watched as the giant tried to pick up the girl and the other rushed over, she mentioned an injury but from that distance he was unable to tell what, where, or how severe. As he watched one of girls begin to carry the othet it appeared evident that those two and the giant would be splitting off from the man sent into the bush, now he had to question himself.

His mind searched as he tried to decide which one to follow to find what he was after. The distance between himself and them was too great to determine anything and not wanting to a risk a conflict with anyone should he draw closer he decided it best to wait it out. Once they started to move he get a little closer and gone fully get his answer.

Artie:  Bandit cringed as she was roughly lifted from the ground, a sound of protest coming from her lips quite easily. “Gah!” Though soon she found herself in Mariela’s arms, her own wrapping around the witch’s neck to support herself. She wasn’t too surprised that the witch could lift her – Bandit was actually quite light and small, despite her big attitude. “Yes, I know her. She’s the strictest one on Satan’s guard. Girl’s built like a damn horse.” Bandit huffed, looking up at the sky for a moment. “Anyway.. Yeah. Help us out, and we’ll get you to Quinn. Actually, just mess up big time, and she’ll be here with her whole police force. Guaranteed.” Bandit raised a brow. Sounds like she’d met Quinn before, and not under good circumstances. The blonde felt limp in Mariela’s arms, completely powerless.. But, she felt a bit safer with the giant here.. And seeing Raul’s backside slowly disappear into the vegetation.

Razorbackwriter:  The loud sound of howls grew and seemed to be coming from outside the maze. The kingdom of Greed was guarded by hell hounds. Funny, when you think that the one called Quinn was one. The Princess of Greed was now on her way to the maze, since Raul’s spectacular disappearing act from her balcony. Wearing a new outfit, that was black tight pants, under a long flowing dress like jacket, and high collared panels in red and black, the Princess was on a mission. She had missed her chance to take down the Princess of Wrath as she had first planned. Now, the targets were those in the maze. Traitors and betrayers did not sit well with her, not to mention that Raul had just gone into the maze in search of the one that broke the collar. Lydia was bristling with rage and a renewed sense of hatred. But now it was all on display. The good and sweet looking Lydia, the one that butter would not melt in her mouth was gone and replaced by the real deal. The bitch from Hell. With two hell hounds on leashes, she approached the maze entrance with a cocky strut. She could just appear within the maze if she wanted, but Lydia wanted to hunt them down the old fashioned way. With the flair of showmanship, she released the leashes as the hell hounds spirited into the maze at speed.

“Kill them….KILL THEM ALL!” Lydia roared as she let out a green blast of power into the sky, to illuminate and send forth the warning of impending doom.

https://i0.wp.com/38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma6vbnUV9i1rbdqm3o1_500.gif

Deep within the maze, the Giant raised his head as he heard the all too familiar sound of Hell hounds. Problem was, they didn’t sound like Quinn.

“I think we got company.”

He swung his battle axe up defensively, while Mariela was trying to help lift Bandit. The Giant stared down at the plucky little witch and asked.

“Are you going to be able to run carrying her, little Witch?” the giant was going to try and hold the hell hounds off and give the Witch and the human a good head start.

The game was on.

~RB~

Dessy:  Bandit wrapped her arms around Mariela’s neck, and Mariela held the girl with ease. She was lighter then Mariela thought, so it was no effort to carry her. “From how you describe her, I’m guessing she’s the leader of some sort.” Mariela said, giving a shrug of her shoulders. She looked down as Bandit spoke to the giant, and raised an eyebrow at her. Bandit has obviously met Quinn before, and it didn’t sound like a pleasant meeting. But Mariela wouldn’t question it. They had other matters to tend to. She just nodded in agreement to Bandit’s promise to offer their help, for his.

Mariela opened her mouth to speak, but when she heard the howls, she closed it. Well… shit. That didn’t sound good. Hell hounds… not really what they needed at the moment, especially since they just got done discussing Quinn. Mariela gave an exasperated groan – she was so done with all of this. “You’ve got to be kidding me…” she mumbled. “Can I not get a break around here?” she then spoke out loud, mainly to herself more than anyone. She was so done. So very, very done. With all of this. It was obvious Lydia was tracking them now. They really needed to get out.

Mariela looked up as the sky began glowing green. Yeap… definitely Lydia. This was just great. She adjusted Bandit in her arms a little bit, moving Scar’s hat to be held in one of her hands. The giant spoke, and Mariela looked up to see him defensively swinging his axe. “Yeah. The bitch and her pound of hell hounds…” she spoke, narrowing her eyes in frustration. “Not great company.” she spoke. Mariela looked up at him as he looked at her, asking if she needed help, and Mariela shook her head. “I’ve got it… she’s very light. At least for now, I do. I’ll let you know when I’m unable to hold her anymore.” she spoke, looking down at Bandit.

“Are you gonna hold them off so we can get a head start, or are all three of us just gonna make a run for it?” she then asked, looking from the giant, to face forward. This is when the game starts… Lydia’s little game. And they were all part of it. Now, they just had to beat her game.

Phlyn:  Solomon teetered softly leaning on his cane continuing his relentless observation of the group. They continued to talk amongst themselves until the sounds of dogs echoed throughout the maze followed by a bright flash of light. Caught off guard by the sudden events Solomon turned away and when he looked back the group was already up in arms. I suppose this means a battle is imminent with this group as the epicenter my target will be visible soon the thought passed through his head as he gagged his surroundings.

Taking note of all visible walls and corners, there was three people in front of him only one combat ready and an undetermined force closing in. There was no good place to hide and simply observe and he was not known to either party here making him a potential target and with non combatants collateral damage seemed likely. Staring at the giant and the two girls he thought perhaps it best to align himself before the fighting started although it could complicate things later should one of them be his target. His other option was to wait it out, remain a neutral party and avoid the fight hopefully working things out as they happen he wasn’t about to flee and leave a target behind.

decisions like this always troubled him weather or not assist or sit to the side and simply do his job. Regardless of his decision a fight was coming, pushing up of his cane he stood straight and with a calm sigh raised his cane to head level. The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Four : SS.

The twins; Sean and Sam were starting to believe the crazy Alp’s story.  Everything that Scar said about Mariela matched up with the boy’s questions.  Now, they had a mission and that was to see if they could break Raul’s collar off Scar’s neck.  Could it be handy in finding a way back to Hell?

Scene setting : The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven Sins series.

Written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “We can always try, right?” Sean spoke, receiving a nod from his brother. “The collar might be some kind of portal. You may not have magical powers, but we do. We can probably use our power to send you back to Hell.” As Sean spoke, his brother had moved to Scar and the collar. He ran his hand along the collar, then gave a nod. It wastheir sister – he was positive of it now. He recognized the magic that still lingered on the collar – he could feel it. “Her magic is still on it. I can feel it when I put my hand near the collar.” he said. “If I focus, I might be able to sense what she did to unlock it the first time. Then all I’d have to do is trace and match it to unlock it again.” he said, and Sean nodded his head.

“I don’t know much about this hat, or this powerful warlock Raul… but if he’s as powerful as you claim, then Mariela needs our help.” Sean said again. “Some of Mariela’s spellbooks and journals survived the fire. Not many, but some. Maybe we can look through there and find something. I’m sure she has at least something to help us send you back.” Sean had determination in his voice. They might not have been able to save her here… but they were willing to save her in Hell. They were not going to let her die again… not after she risked her life for them the first time. They didn’t care if she was in Hell. They were going to save her.

“She had a habit of recording everything she did. Every spell she performed, every potion she made, every new power she had discovered and what not. She kept them in journals and usually kept them hidden from other people.” Sean spoke again. “If the collar isn’t some kind of portal, then maybe there’s some other way to open a portal to send you to Hell. And if there is, chances are is Mariela has it written down somewhere.” Sean was doing all of the talking while Sam was focused on the collar. Sam was concentrating on getting the collar off, so he didn’t need to be disturbed. So Sean did the talking.

“That’s if… you’re willing.” Sean added. “If you’re willing to accept our help, then we’re willing to give you our help. For Mariela. She died once… we will not let her die again, Hell or not.” he spoke. Sean knew sending him back to Hell would require a lot of power. The boys couldn’t do it by themselves like Mariela could… but if they worked together and combined their powers, then they might be able to do it.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar really didn’t like being touched. When one of the boys moved his finger across the jeweled collar to get a trace of Mariela’s magic, the Alp winced at having this lad so close. It was necessary, but uncomfortable. Only when the boy stepped back and announced that he had felt the surge of Mariela’s magic left on it, did Scar let out a sigh of relief. This proved pretty much everything. That Mariela was their sister, and that they believed what the Alp had said to be true. Scar wouldn’t lie, there was no point to it. He was desperate to get back and help the young witch, but knew the limitations placed on him due to how he came to be in Sean and Sam’s world.

One thing about the boy’s chatter, was that Scar was learning a great deal more about the young Witch he cared so much for. She kept a number of journal and spell books, having noted down everything from spells she created and used, to her day to day life. These very things could be helpful to the pair if they wanted to find a way to get to her. They would never have imagined where Mariela ended up, not until Scar had pointed them towards it.

The Alp reached up to the collar and started to try and prize it off with his fingers. He clawed at it, and struggled as the collar remained tightly fastened. It was designed this way so that the person that wore it, could not take it off themselves. Sean asked if Scar was willing to accept the boys help, since they pretty much were determined to find their sister and help her. They owed her their lives, and now her life…in hell was in grave danger. Releasing his hands from the collar, he let them fall to his sides as he nodded slowly.

“Alright…alright. Can one of you, please take this collar off me, and we can get to tracking her back to hell.”

Dessy:  Sam didn’t notice Scar wince as he ran his fingers over the collar. As his brother was talking, Sam was focusing on tracing Mariela’s magic. His hand stopped moving when he could trace Mariela’s magic no more. “I know how to get it off. Just… keep still, and stop clawing at the damn collar.” Sam said, waiting until Scar moved his hands. His fingers moved along the collar, touching each jewel the same way Mariela did. Within seconds, the collar popped off – just like it did with Bandit. “There.” Sam said, removing the collar and holding it up in his hand. “It’s off. Now, before we destroy it, we need to see if we can use it to open a portal to Hell.” he spoke. Mariela taught them well – with the things she managed to teach them before she died, that is.

Sean nodded at his brother when he successfully got the collar off. “Good. Now that that’s done, we need to focus on getting him back to Hell.” he then said. All of a sudden, the group of boys they were with earlier were calling their names. “One second.” Sean said, beginning to exit the forest. He yelled out that him and his brother had to go, because they had important family matters to tend to – which, technically, wasn’t exactly a lie. After saying goodbye, he re-appeared later. “I told them we had important family matters to attend to. They shouldn’t bug us for awhile.” he said, his gaze turning back to Scar.

“Now, we might have to head to our home to go through the books Mariela has. No worries, our father is at work and mother is running errands all day. We don’t have to worry about them.” Sean said. “Thank god. We do not need mother finding out that Mariela is in Hell and is in danger. She’s had a hard enough time after her death as it is.” Sam said, looking at Scar. “Quick question… what is your name? That might be important to know before we head off and get to work.”

Sean nodded his head, walking over to where his brother and Scar were standing. “We’re ready to do this whenever you are. Just give us the word.” he spoke, giving Scar a determined nod.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar looked uneasy as Sam worked his fingers on the jewels that lined the collar. One by one his fingers traced over in the same fashion that Mariela had done, and so with his magical powers fusing with those left by Mariela, it was enough to break the collar off – falling into Sam’s hand. Scar took a step back and started to touch around his neck as though he could hardly believe that he was now rid of the thing.

“Ugh…horrid piece of warlock crap.” The Alp hissed as he took a breath and then stared at Sam and Sean through dark slits. The words of destroying the collar brought about a foul look from the Alp. “Think twice before you destroy it. It’s probably the only chance you have to find her.” Scar pursed his lips, before starting to pat down the clothes that he was wearing to see if he had anything on him that could be of use to the pair. In his pocket, he happened to find a flimsy piece of cloth that had laced edges and was quite delicate. Withdrawing it slowly, Scar then realized what it was. It was Mariela’s handkerchief. The Alp having pinched it from her whilst she was dancing. it was monogrammed with her initials and carried her scent. He took a sniff, closing his eyes as it was almost like he could see her bright and colourful in his mind’s eye.

“Here…you might find this useful.” As with any spells, to have something from the person you wish to seek, it pays to have a personal item or lock of hair. This was the next best thing.

At one point, the other lads that had been playing the football game were calling for the boy’s return. Course, the boys had more important things to do, and were able to blow them off using a good excuse. Scar waited in the bushes for that news to be delivered, before the boys were ready to take him to their house. It was there that they kept their sisters personal effects and her spell books. With the handkerchief and the collar, they had a better chance to create the right amount of magic.

As the boys were about to head off to take Scar to their home, they did want to know one thing. What his name was.

“Scar. Just Scar.” The Alp didn’t have a nickname or a surname, just the one name. And that was quite enough. He then bowed low and extended his hand.

“Lead the way, gentlemen.”

Dessy:  Sam handed the collar over to his brother, and Sean began examining it, turning it in his hand. Sean was the smartest out of the two – yes, Sam was smart, but he was more athletic than anything. Sean was also athletic, but he was mostly smart than anything.”We’ll definantly need to look through Marie’s journals. I don’t recognize anything on the collar – it’s probably more advanced magic. Stuff Marie could do, that we can’t.” he said, looking at Scar when he spoke. When Scar said “horrid piece of warlock crap”, Sam couldn’t help but laugh.

Sean nodded his head when Scar said not to destroy it. “Right. We find our sister first, then destroy it.” he said. The brothers turned and watched him as Scar started patting his pockets, and Sam narrowed his eyes in curiosity. He then watched Scar pull out a handkerchief – and when Sam squinted his eyes he saw Mariela’s initials. Then Scar was… sniffing it. Okay… A little weird. But whatever.

Sam reached over and took the handkerchief, examining it. “This will work perfectly.” Sam said, giving a nod of his head.”With this, and the collar, we can find a way to get you back to Hell.” he added soon after. After he spoke his name, the boy’s raised an eyebrow and looked up at each other, before Sam shrugged. “Scar. Gotcha.” he said.

“We won’t have to walk. We can teleport us there.” Sean said with a grin. With a quick flick of Sam’s hand, they disappeared, and then reappeared in front of the house. It was a cute little house – blue, and a two story. It was quaint and it was comfortable, yet elegant at the same time – which was proven once Sam opened the door and waited for Sean and Scar to enter, before closng it behind him. It was very homely and comfortable on the inside. From the looks of the house, you could have never guessed they were witches. The boys took their shoes off, placing them by the door like always. “This way.” Sean said, before heading down a hallway.

Sam bent down, removing the light blue and green striped rug, revealing a door. Sean had left, and came back with the key, handing it to his brother. Sam unlocked the door, pulling the handle and opening it up, sticking the key into his pocket. Sean walked down first, pressing a button to turn on the lights to the basement. They kept all of there witch stuff here – potions, materials, herbs, witch books – everything. Sam came down after, shutting the basement door after he walked down. “This is just the basement, where we keep everything that we use. We keep all of Mariela’s belongings in a trunk, that can only be opened by us. That way no one can get into it.” Sean spoke, as they walked to a door in the basement.

Sean held his hand to the door, muttering something, and then the door glowed and swung open. Only way the door could be opened. The inside revealed what seemed to be all a memorial shrine – with all of Mariela’s belongings that they managed to save from the fire. That was obvious from some pictures on the wall in frames that were a bit burned up, certain pieces of fabrics that were torn and burned hanging on walls. “All of this is stuff we managed to save from the fire. Pictures, pieces of fabrics from Mariela’s clothing. Everything we could save that dealt with her – we did. The stuff you see that aren’t burned are pictures Marie’s best friend, Tessa, had given to us after her death. She was the only one who knew what we were… the two have been friends since they were young. Grew up together.” Sam said, looking to Scar as he spoke. In the pictures, the one known as Tessa was a pretty brown-eyed and brunette girl that was seen in most of the pictures. Tessa still kept in touch with the family, and she was kind enough to hand over pictures she had kept of her and Mariela – or just Mariela – for them to have since most of the pictures, except for a small few, were lost in the fire.

Razorbackwriter:  What a strange place it was. The home of the twins. It all looked, so normal. So very human. Scar was almost scared of it. He kept up with the twins, who were more than accommodating. The alp watched as they took off their shoes before entering the house. Apparently that was customary and Scar bawked before following suit. He just was so out of his element. He took off each boot with a clunk and a thud, then lined them up alongside the boys shoes neatly. When in Rome and all that. Once they made their way inside, Scar could not stop turning his head left and right. Family pictures on the walls. Happy, smiling faces beaming down at him. Like something out of a magazine. Perfect families. Scar didn’t know or understand what being part of a family felt like. All he could gather was that the twins cared a great deal about their sister; Mariela.

Scar followed the boys down the hallway till they reached a light blue and green striped rug, that hid in behind it a door. It was obviously something that the boys wanted no one else to know about. The Alp’s eyes darted back and forth as one of the boys went to fetch a key. Sam did the honors, and opened the door – turning on the light that flooded the basement. So this was where they kept their supernatural artifacts and belonging. Not everything was what it seemed to be.

This brought about a question from the alp. If magic was here in this world, why all the secrecy? That was how it seemed. Were magical people considered evil beings, or simply misunderstood? Scar thought that this world was devoid of magic, but apparently he was very wrong.

“You keep it all hidden away?” This said with the Alp bending his head to the side in a curious fashion. The twins mentioned that they kept all of Mariela’s possessions in a trunk that could only be opened by them. This fueled the idea that there were those that hunted her kind in this world, if they had to keep it somewhere that only would be privy to them ever seeing it.

As they walked through another door in the basement there was a definite feeling of a magical presence. It was unmistakable in fact. Scar had felt it before and that was in Mariela’s company. In this room was a shrine to Mariela. Belongings, clothes, personal effects. Books, and partially burnt photographs. Scar spun around and around slowly as he tried to take it all in. This was indeed a fascinating sight to behold. Scar knew of the witch in hell. The Duchess of Greed. The beauty of the Ball. Here was the images and the belongings of a girl that Scar didn’t know. This was her human world self. Even though much of it was dusty or burnt, it brought to life Mariela in Scar’s mind. The way the boys had kept all of these treasures showed their love and respect for her. In a way, Scar was glad that they had not let her memory die with her. It showed their love for her and it was this gift; this love that they had for her that could be the very thing to save her in Hell.

Her power….was love. It was only being away from her and stuck in the hat that the Alp was able to see it for himself. As the boys spoke of how they gathered everything they could and brought it all down here, including items from her best friend Tessa, the Alp was lost for the moment in just enjoying seeing this side of his beloved witch. He was starting to understand a great many things that before his evil heart could not possibly do. This was why she was so powerful, and it was the reason she could defeat Lydia.

Touching one of her dresses that hung on the wall closest to where he stood, Scar whispered to it, as though speaking to his Mariela.

“You are worthy of this sacrifice.” Whether the boys heard him or not, remained to be seen – but it was in that moment that Scar knew what he had to do. His black little heart beat fiercely as he found a renewed vigor. Clapping his hands he turned to the lads and said with a flair that they would not have ever imagined him having.
