More than a feeling….

Embassy of Hell

The ride back from Krakus Mountain by Valmont and Nicholas, was a pretty somber one. Valmont had failed to stop Raul from both the killing of Amala and Habib, and also was unable to stop the Warlock from escaping. For a man like Valmont, this was a crushing blow to his self esteem. He rode with an impassive expression. Like talking about it was not going to help. What would Zachary say about his Ambassador now? That he was less of a man for not being able to stop one man from getting away with murder. Valmont was being hard on himself. Reason being, he put Nicholas first. Constantly trying to protect him, when he should have gone on the offensive. It was eating into him.

Arriving late now back through the gates of the Embassy, he was quick to disembark – handing the reigns of his horse to a stable boy, then giving Nicholas a chance to catch him up. Valmont had taken his bag down off the back of the horse, and swung it over his shoulder. He appeared stony faced, and in the fading light it was still possible to see the pain in his eyes. When Nicholas dismounted finally, Valmont would turn and head up and into the Embassy only to drop his bag at the door for a staffer, and then make a bee line for his office. Maybe Zachary beat them back. He was hopeful that Bandit would be found again soon, and before Raul.

On entering his office, it was plain to see that Zachary had not yet made it back. Angered by this he walked over to a filing cabinet that on the top of it had a whiskey decanter and a few crystal glasses. Would having a drink cure the pain and conflict he felt? He went to reach for a glass, when the flash of memory of Amala and Habib being murdered appeared before his eyes. Valmont squinted, and then with a roar of anger, he punched his fist into the filing cabinet, causing him to cut his hand open on the twisted metal drawer. Pulling his hand back, you could see the open cuts and the blood running down his hand. He actually enjoyed the pain.

Maybe this could make him feel something other than the wretched thoughts that had taken his mind prisoner.

Tsu:  The ride back to the Embassy had been a quiet one, Nicholas could tell Valmont was still upset. It hurt him too, he didn’t want to see him like this but, of course it was bound to happen. Once they arrived, he’d dismount and watched Valmont go into the place quickly. Greeting the stall boy, he’d bring his bags behind him and set them down next to Val’s. Nicholas went about talking to a couple of people quickly, making sure everything was okay and explaining what happened. Also telling that the carriage would need to be picked up, it had broken down after all. He wondered up towards Valmonts office just in time to hear the angry roar and smashing, which worried him. Quickly he’d go in and saw the bleeding hand, a small gasp escaping his lips. Walking out of the room for a moment he returned, with a first aid kit. Slowly he walked over to Valmont.

” Valmont, let me fix your hand. It’s going to be alright. ” He said calmly, trying to sooth him as best as possible.

Picking up his injured hand he would tend to it, getting out the peroxide and bandages. While doing this blood had fallen onto Nicholas jacket and his hands were slightly bloody. He would take off his jacket, along with the scarf around his neck. All that remained was the long white dress shirt he had on. Once he finished bandaging Val’s wounded hand, he’d unbutton his cuffs and roll them up. It was slightly hot so, without really caring he let down his hair. It fell over his shoulders and down his back, you could see the girlish features. Quickly he’d pull it all up into a bun, short and long strands of hair hanging on the side of his face. Nicholas undid the first button to his shirt and with that, his full neck was exposed, the cheekbones and sculpture of his face, visible to Valmont. Lifting Valmont’s hand Nicholas would grasp it in his own two, holding it and looking at him.

” I know what happened was sad but, It was my fault too. I could of started attacking and I didn’t. We both didn’t act quick enough, me probably being a reason why you didn’t go as quick.” Nicholas said, knowing that if Valmont hadn’t been protecting him, he’d of had Raul and wouldn’t of let him get away.

” Zachary will be fine, I know it, I can feel it. He will save Bandit and the child, he’s strong enough to kill Raul if needed. You should know this more then anyone, he’s been here longer then I have. I refuse to let you drink it away or hurt yourself, it won’t happen.” He said in a somewhat scolding voice, him lifting his hand and kissing it some.

It was just a small comfort that only Nicholas could hope would help him. He really would hate to have him drink away the problem, when their were other ways of coping. Nicholas would let of his hand and rest his hands on his hips, letting out a deep sigh and staring at Valmont, watching him. Maybe things would get better tonight, he had a gut feeling that it might or they might not.

The Embassy of Hell

Turning his hand over to see the blood on the back, Valmont was then interrupted by the small gasp that Nicholas let out. Valmont half expected him to come in, and possibly scold him for injuring himself in a fit of anger. Instead, Nicholas left the room, only to return with a small first aid kit. Valmont rolled his eyes, thinking the wound was nothing more than superficial. Course it was painful as you would expect it to be. Walking across the room, Nicholas was intent to tend to his Lordhip, even though Valmont felt foolish and embarressed about the whole thing. He had trouble looking at the young man, who was now holding his hand whilst getting the peroixide and bandages.

“You really shouldn’t have to do this. It’s just a scratch.” Valmont was really bad at lying. Nicholas’s soft words were clearly not getting through. Truth was, the real pain was coming from a place that you couldn’t see. As the young man had blood dripping on him, he took off his jacket, and then his scarf which left him only wearing the very light and see through dress shirt. With his hair tumbling down, before being put up in a loose bun, Valmont would finally look at Nicholas again, yet see the feminine version of him Even opening his shirt, and pushing up his sleeves showed off the supple white of his skin. So smooth….that Valmont caught his breath as he stared at the delicate contours of his neck. It was like he was seeing Nicholas for the first time, but not as a male. He was seeing him as a female. This of course was bringing back that same feeling he had in the carriage. The ambassador’s heart started beating faster, as he watched Nicholas tend to him with such care. Words being said about what had happened up on Krakus only reminded him of his failings, and how he put Nicholas’s safety first. This may have prevented him from saving the Fallen, but who knew if he even could be that fast. It was Raul after all.

For a moment, it was like Nicholas knew what was going on in the back of the incubus’s mind…or did he? Mentioning Zachary only brought out an exasperated face. What on earth would he say when he learns that Raul got away….and the fallen had been murdered in front of them. It was hard to imagine, but one thing was for sure – he wasn’t going to be pleased.

“Zachary will do it right. I know…I know. He will save Bandit, and hopefully the child.” Valmont looked down at Nicholas with softer eyes, and then it happened. Nicholas brought Valmont’s hand to his lips and kissed it. This sent a thrill through Valmont’s body and he froze as he watched Nicholas with widening eyes. Did he not understand why he hurt himself truly? He was still confused about his feelings, his ideals. He wasn’t supposed to have these feelings, but he did.

“I refuse to let you drink it away or hurt yourself, it won’t happen.”

Valmont stared at Nicholas with a growing need that drink would not even be able to stop now. He closed the gap between them, and reached for the second button on Nicholas’s shirt, undoing it. Then….he undid another and another till all were undone. His large hands ran back up under the soft silk of the shirt till it pushed it back off his shoulders. Almost as though hypnotized, he reached around and undid the bun that held Nicholas’s hair in place, so that it would spill out again over his shoulders like before.

“It looks so much better down.” Valmont started to rake his fingers through Nicholas’s hair, as though brushing it back – feeling its softness. The incubus was attracted to the female half of Nic and he was unable to help himself now. Was he going to regret his actions later? This being so shocking, that it was exciting him further. A taboo perhaps, but Valmont had not wanted something as much as he did now and it was right before him.

Valmont drew Nicholas to him by wrapping his hand around the young man’s neck and pulled him into his form so they were now chest to chest. Nicholas would be able to smell the heightened sense of the incubus’s growing hunger….and feel it.

“Can you feel this?’ His voice now husky as their hips pressed against each others and the incubus kissed the young man with a renewed passion. Forcing his tongue into Nicholas’s waiting mouth, while their bodies started to dance.

With Valmont and Nicholas safely aboard the black coach, the driver snapped hard at the reigns and the four onyx coloured horses took off down the driveway of the Embassy at speed. The race was now on, with Zachary having chosen to use his own method in hunting down the mother and unborn child. As for Madame Green it was unclear as to where she would go first, though as an oracle it was pretty clear that she would be using her divine powers in which to track her. The Ambassador can be regarded more as the type of demon that is a bit old school in his way of doing things. A coach ride through the dark wood might help them gain a quick way to locating Bandit. The roads of Hell all lead through it and it is possible that she left behind a trail. All he knew was instinct, nothing more.Easing back now in the plush leather interior of the carriage, Valmont calmed from the angered call to find the girl. Strange how it was when he was alone in Nicholas’s company. The two men shared a friendship that was unique in a way. It was more than just employer and employee. Nicholas was by far Valmont’s most trusted, and he often told the young blonde man things that he kept hidden from others. It was like Nicholas was the great keeper of secrets, but the best secret of all was the one that Valmont didn’t know. The coach raced down the winding roads through the fields as it came to the start of the dark wood. Very tall oaks that were at the fringes had deep green leaves, but as you looked into the hollow that was at the start, it was like they grew darker and more ominous as they ventured through. The thundering of hooves met with the sound of rocks flying up beneath the cabin floor. The driver like a madman, urging the team of horses onward as though he himself was possessed by the devil. The carriage shook and vibrated so hard that Valmont had to reach for the handle grip just above his window. Being jostled around so violently, he blinked at the ferocity of the ride so far.

Valmont raised his head and squinted, as though trying to understand why the driver was going so damn fast.

“Did you hire this clod?” Valmont muttered as he tipped back and forth like a puppet on a string.

Dark shadows loomed over the carriage as it spirited along at top speed. Darker and darker it became as this was now anything but a pleasant ride.

~CRACK!!! BANG~

The carriage wheel on the right at the back hit a jagged rock and the horses stumbled as the carriage came to an abrupt stop. Valmont was thrown forward and landed right on top of Nicholas.

It was a peaceful night, at least it was for now. The journey would probably take some time but, it’d move quick if needed be. Nicholas himself would of traveled on foot, he was rather fast but, this works too. Of course knowing Valmont’s ways he’d want to do it like this, it was more like him then to be quick into action on this. He could tell that he had calmed and he was glad, it was something he noticed when he was around him. Thinking back on the relationship, it was a funny one and unique, he’d known stuff others hadn’t. Granted, some was guy stuff that he shouldn’t of heard, cause of what he was. At first it had bothered him but, he got use to it over time, he was part guy after all so, it was natural. Looking out the window he sigh a bit and watched how it had gotten darker over time and the ride now moving rather fast and violently, seeing as he held on to the rail now.
” No, he’s the usual person we use, I wonder what’s wron-“
Nicholas was cut off from the bang, him knowing it had to be one of the wheels. In the next moments, things would change for him, as he was now on his back semi and Valmont on top of him. You could say it looked like a awkward situation but, it wasn’t at the same time. Nicholas blinked a few times through his glasses he had put on recently, his hair had be sprawled out under him, even if it was in a bun. His grey eyes looked up to examine the face not so far from his, and he saw something truly lovely. Most the time it’d be the Succubus way and the charm of how he was received but, for some reason it didn’t look like that to Nicholas. Maybe it was the fact that he was half in half? It was silent outside, except a few minor sounds of things unknown, him simply focusing up staring with his light grey eyes at his face, then eyes. Realizing the position they were in, Nicholas face ended up turning red a bit on the cheeks. At this moment he did indeed truly look of a girl but, he didn’t put it to be that way.” U-U-Uh, ouch.. are you okay Valmont?” He said stuttering and realizing he was, what was with him? He hated moments like this, acting like a girl was beyond annoying at times.‘ Control yourself Nicholas! Get a hold and snap out of it. You can’t falter at this moment, it’ll all be ruined if so.. something you don’t want.’With that thought his face had gone back to normal, holding in the blushing and breathing out a bit. Control was something he tended to be good at, even if at times he slipped. Nicholas only lifted his head a bit, his chest rising up just some, so he didn’t collide with Valmont. At this moment he wondered what was going through his head and if he was okay.

Valmont landed awkwardly upon the smaller Nicholas. In fact he landed in such a way that he was practically on top of the young man. There was only a faint light offered in the coach from small red globes, and these flickered on and off as the carriage groaned, then settled. The driver had already gotten down, first to inspect the wheel, and then to tend to the horses which were now spooked by the intimidating sounds of the forest creatures at night.Within the carriage, Valmont’s face was just inches from Nicholas’s. It was strange because Val had never been this close to the male before, and to be honest to see him in this light with his hair sprawled out beneath him gave him an almost feminine quality. Something that Valmont had not seen before, or not bothered to realize. It was also strange because the way that he landed, his hips were right smack bang on top of Nicholas, and he could have sworn that he would feel..well, something. The fact of the matter was, he didn’t. For that moment there was confusion.” U-U-Uh, ouch.. are you okay Valmont?”The stuttering coupled with the rose in his cheeks only added to Valmont’s curiosity. You see, Valmont was incredibly attracted to women. They were in fact his downfall in many ways. Madame Green often used this lustful streak when she wanted the man for herself. Though those encounters were few and far between. It was probably why she treated him the way she did. Favored, but not claimed. It would take someone truly special to do that.

“I’m…fine, I think.” It was like he was having trouble responding, given the conflicting signals he was getting. Seeing Nicholas like this…feeling his body beneath him, should not arouse Valmont in the slightest, but….he was starting to feel it. Like Nicholas was giving off pheromones, but was that even possible?

Valmont went to try and prop himself up, but as he did his hips brushed against Nicholas’s a little firmer than before. A gasp escaped Valmont’s mouth, that he was almost shocked at himself for doing. His hardness was growing and now sure to be felt by his young assistant.

“Nicholas…..forgive me. I don’t know what has come over me.” As the assistant was trying to regain his composure, Valmont seemed to be losing his. He just found himself staring into Nicholas’s eyes……and then….

….he kissed him.

~RB~
Tsu:

The staring continued as he realized their hips were together, something squeezed in his stomach. Oh god.. he probably figured it out. If Nicholas was indeed a guy, Valmont would feel something their but, he didn’t. Anxiety ran through his body as he was a bit surprised. He truly wondered what the man was thinking at this moment, would he be thinking horrid comments about him? He wasn’t but, Nicholas wasn’t sure, he didn’t even know if he realized what happened. Hearing his words, he pondered on it, he thinks? What should that mean? I can’t figure it out but, he could feel Valmont’s body reacting towards his own. Feeling him try to prop himself up, he’d only felt the hardness from him slip firmer against his hips. Now, this was something Nicholas didn’t expect, this was indeed arousing him down there as well, he could feel a bit of liquid and instantly he panicked a bit. ” Oh god.. no no, why is it doing this now?!” He thought and knew that his lower part was not cooperating with him at all now.

” It’s uh, okay Valmon-“ He had tried to finish but, something shocking happened. He was feelings the lips of the person above him on his own.

On instinct it would of been wise to back away or simply push him off but, he didn’t. For a moment he let it sink in, him not realizing that he was kissing him back now. The other surprise was that his own hips had moved on there own up against his own and his growth. This was entirely all new sensations to Nicholas, he’d never had sex with someone or done something like this. He’d reject all the girls away because, of what he was. After a couple of moments Nicholas came to his sense and pulled his lips from Val’s. His chest was breathing up and down hard, as he stared at him for a couple of seconds. Finally to get rid of the silence he started speaking.

” I guess you figured it out, huh. I’m not a guy.. well not completely at least. As you can feel, my other half is of a woman. A birth defect from my parents, it wasn’t known but, it was rare in cases. As much as I dislike it, this is something I didn’t want to tell you. For, I was afraid of what you’d think of me.” He said taking a breath to himself.

If Valmont hadn’t known what Nicholas had been hiding, he did now. He had let the cat out of the bag on this, something he didn’t tell many, or none at all. This was truly a embarrassing moment for him, as he couldn’t dare to look him in the eyes for what he would think. Nicholas had stayed where he was and turned his head, his cheek against the floor and his eyes staring at the wall, his hair falling over the side of his face.

~I kissed a boy and I liked it it it.~This was not meant to be happening. It went against everything that Valmont was about. He was not attracted to men, not in the slightest, and yet he here was, confused and kissing Nicholas passionately. The worst part, Nicholas kissed him back. It was for only the briefest of moments, but it was strangely erotic and satisfying. Even the lower part of Nicholas responded, and in a way that Valmont didn’t expect. Just how far would this go? The answer came when Nicholas pulled back and he was clearly struggling with it all. It appeared both of them were.” I guess you figured it out, huh. I’m not a guy“You don’t taste like one.” Valmont interjected, his brow furrowing as Nicholas started to explain. His lower half was that of a woman, the top a man. It was a birth defect, of all things. Valmont had heard of many strange things before, but this took the cake. He thought there was no secrets between them, but this one was the mother of them all.

As much as I dislike it, this is something I didn’t want to tell you. For, I was afraid of what you’d think of me.” There it was. Nicholas was afraid that Valmont would not be accepting. Perhaps Nicholas was too quick to judge him. While Nicholas got his breath, there was a knock at the carriage door.

“My Lord, Sir….the wheel’s broken. You’re going to have to take the horses if you want to go further. This carriage ain’t going nowhere.”

Talk about saved by the bell, or rather the crazy driver. Valmont got up off Nicholas, who was now looking away, his cheeks still aflame. Getting his composure, the ambassador then opened the door. He glanced back once at his assistant, and then stepped down out of the carriage. It was not that he didn’t want to say something poignant at that time, he just couldn’t. Closing the door, he went to inspect the wheel. Blasted thing, the rock really did a number on it. There was nothing left for them to do, but take two horses, and the driver would have to take one himself to go back to the Embassy. The Ambassador stood with his hands on his hips. They still had a quest to find Bandit, but now he was travelling with what he knew now was not a man. Not…a real man. Pausing a moment, he knew he could send Nicholas back, since the road ahead would be filled with all sorts of dangers. Did he really want to put Nicholas through all that? The driver waited for a word of acknowledgement. Finally, Valmont dragged his fingers back through his now disheveled locks, that came from being thrown about in the carriage.

https://i1.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ljm3k2i2bc1qdjeipo1_500.gif

“Take a horse, and ride back to the Embassy. Make sure you lock up the carriage first. I’ll go on with Nicholas.” The Ambassador spoke with a strangely deep tone. Maybe he was questioning his own sexuality. Trying to prove to himself that he was not having gay feelings for Nicholas.

The Driver bowed and then started to unhook the horses from the carriage, while Valmont walked back to the carriage. He paused at the door, taking a deep…long breath before opening it.

“Get your things, we are going on on horseback.’ Turning away, he went to the back to get his bag and get it ready for his mount.

Remorse was one of the many words Nicholas was feeling at this very moment. It was all so quick and confusing, why had it happened. Hearing the comment, he knew now that Valmont officially knew what Nicholas was and he wasn’t sure whether he was weird-ed out by it or other things. It was to quiet and he thought it was going to get really awkward, until the driver started speaking and Valmont had gotten off of him. A bit of relief ran through him once the door shut, he didn’t get up just at that moment yet. Listening to the conversation outside, Nicholas couldn’t tell what Valmont was thinking at this moment. Getting up he had stood and looked at the opposite side of the wall. Hearing Val speak of them going on horseback and shutting the door he bit his lip some.
” Shit, why now..?” Nicholas had said to himself inside the carriage, he knew that it was probably heard regardless of where he was.At that moment he took a few seconds to kick the wall of the carriage twice, to let out some rather built up anger now. Things were perfectly fine, now they weren’t. Straightening his tie and stuff, he’d run a hand through his hair and calmed himself. Opening the door he would step down and not bother to look over, getting his bag and strapping it onto his back. Nicholas couldn’t make himself look over to Valmont at the moment so he didn’t, as he walked to the horse. Adjusting the straddle on the girl, he’d put one foot into the hole of the foot holder and hoisted himself up onto it. Grabbing the ropes that hung to the horses restraint, he’d squeeze them just a bit. Hopefully Val would understand in his mind why Nicholas had kept this hidden, this society would not allow much of him, let alone he’s lost someone before because of it. This was the only thing, everything else was always said, he had nothing to hide beside it. ” Great.. way to go stupid forest and carriage.. this isn’t time to let go.” He had thought to himself. Shutting his eyes for a moment, he’d let out a long held in breath and a sad sigh.” I’m ready to go whenever you are.” Nicholas had said, back in his normal tone now.He was glad for his control, it helped him so much in the long run. Right now anything that had to do between them would be discussed later on probably, right now it was simply to focus on the mission at hand. Loosening the grip he’d look straight ahead down the dark road, not afraid of it at all.

The Dark Wood.

By the time that Nicholas had alighted from the carriage, Valmont was already walking towards one of the horses that had been readied for him by the driver. It was hard to tell how Valmont was feeling about the situation. All he knew was that he didn’t want to get into it in front of the driver, who was now set with the task of locking up the carriage, before setting off back for the Embassy with a spare horse in tow. The carriage would be taken back at a later date, but for now, the Ambassador and his assistant were to go on alone and under the circumstances that was probably the wisest idea. Each time Valmont raised his head to look across at Nicholas, it was clear that the assistant was trying to avoid his gaze. This put an air of discomfort between them, that never existed before. Valmont had always found Nicholas’s company to be good, never in his wildest dreams did he suspect what was really going on, right under his nose.

When Nicholas had his horse ready and he had gotten into the saddle. he said. ” I’m ready to go whenever you are.” His tone was back to the normal pitch, and by the looks of things, the lad had managed to get himself together. Pity Valmont was not as ready. Instead of replying, he offered a curt nod, though you could see that he was still troubled. Valmont hated having things left unsaid, especially with what happened. It wasn’t a case of if he was going to say something, but more like when.

The sound of the carriage being locked up was heard, as the driver gave the door one last bang with his hand, as though to reassure himself it was locked tight.

Taking the reigns of his lead horse, he tipped his hat at the pair – Valmont having mounted his horse in that time. “Hope you find what you are looking for, My Lord….Sir.” He addressed both of them, before leading the two horses away. This left Nicholas now alone with the Ambassador. Slowly, Valmont turned the horse he was on around in the opposite direction to that where the driver was heading.

“We need to get going. It’s about twenty miles to the next inn.” Giving his horse a good kick in the flanks, the Ambassador started off, riding off with his coat tails flapping behind him. Valmont was a natural on horseback, and it showed. Galloping away, Nicholas was going to have to get a move on to keep up. As before the dark shadows that had followed the carriage, appeared to now be following the pair as they sped along the dirt road. The trees blocked out much of the natural light, which made it easy for highway men and thieves to hide.

After riding hard for a good twenty minutes, Valmont finally pulled his horse up. The horse brayed and protested, as it pawed the ground in protest. Snorting angrily, much like its rider. As Nicholas approached he would see the look on Valmont’s face. He had managed to get far enough away so that no one would hear them. When Nicholas came close enough to stop, Valmont sung out to him.

“You should have told me, Nicholas.”

Was it the fact that he was angry for being kept in the dark, or was it because he actually enjoyed kissing his assistant, and he felt guilty as sin? Valmont dismounted his horse and then stood there, pointing for Nicholas to do the same.

“I am trying to understand these….feelings.” You could see he was agitated, and wanted answers.

Discomfort was now in the air between the two men, he could tell Valmont was looking over at him time to time. It made him angry that he couldn’t simply look back at him. Hearing the bang and the driver talking, he’d give a nod as he departed. Hearing the other horse move, Nicholas did the same. About 20 minutes and they’d be in an inn, would they be staying there? It kinda of made him wonder on it. Once galloping, he had done the same, keeping speed and slightly kicking the side. This in turns made the horse gallop quick stay at pace behind Valmont. The wind felt nice blowing through his hair and it everywhere, it made him more comfort of being in the dark and unseen. Hearing Val’s horse stop, I’d look up now seeing Valmont’s face because, he had stopped right in front of him. So many things crossed his mind, and Nicholas knew they were going to talk. Hearing his first statement, he sigh and sat there for a second, getting off now.

” I would of told you but, I had reasons for not doing so.” He responded and turned fully, both men weren’t that far from each other, his gaze at the ground.

It was silent for a good two minutes, Nicholas couldn’t look but, he had to. It was time he let everything he’d been holding in out and put it in the clear. Whether it’d be a good thing or not, he wasn’t sure but, he had to. Finally he removed his glasses and put them in his pocket, moving his head and staring up at Val’s face. His grey eyes looked into his own and many emotions were seen in them. Sadness, hurt, remorse, pain and.. love, along with confusion.

” There were rules set back in where I came from. One of them pertained to not doing something that combined the two genders. Granted, I didn’t know about it but, my parents decided to do it. This is how I ended up like I am. I did not choose to live this life but, I had to. I mean look at it this way Val, I am practically a girl, with out breasts. An abomination to my people and to hell, even though it was hidden.” He said and breathed in and out quietly, taking breaths.

He had said a lot in that and hopefully that had answered a couple of the questions. His hands went down to his side as slid them into his pocket for a moment. He was trying to gather the words to say what he was going to do next. Finally he parted his lips and started speaking again.

” I’ve lost someone close to me before, because they had found out. This had hurt very much, she was a good friend and I lost it all because, she’d seen me. This, this is why I’ve kept it hidden from you. I’m rather happy and content living where I have been for the past couple of years and working for you. I’ve never once lied or kept anything hidden from you Valmont, I’ve always been open and told you every single little detail but, this was just the one thing I couldn’t but, now you know of it.” A long pause was done after that.

Silence filled again for a minute as he didn’t know how well this would go. But, Nicholas walked just a couple of feet to stand in front of the tall Valmont and looked up at him. It was unsure of his attentions but, it was going to happen. Nicholas hadn’t realized what he was saying just now.

” I’ve lost many chances and experiences in life, because of all this. But, I know one thing for sure, what happened no more then 20 minutes ago, I enjoyed it, I don’t know why though. Be it sinning or guilty, I couldn’t help it, I did. Maybe it’s because I’m half girl but, I doubt it.” Nicholas said breathless and the look on his face held confusion and distress, this was one of the sides Valmont had yet to see of him. He himself was trying to calm himself down but, it wasn’t working completely as he just stared up at the man, hoping this cleared it all up.

The Dark Wood

” I would of told you but, I had reasons for not doing so.”

That was Nicholas’s first response to Valmont’s series of questions. There was this tension between them now, and it was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. Valmont had always liked and appreciated Nicholas and put off the feelings he had as being more like, a close friendship, a kinship. They always had a good laugh about things privately, and publicly they were a solid force. But never had they been so close to each other that they were actually touching – body to body. It was when this happened that Valmont felt that connection and it made him aroused beyond belief. Only a woman could to that, but he always thought that Nicholas was a man.

“You had your reasons. Didn’t you think I could handle such knowledge? “ Valmont’s reaction was more defensive if anything. “I thought we had no secrets. Damn, I told you everything about me. Warts and all. You know perfectly well what I am, Nic.” There was a change. The fact that Val called him Nic and not Nicholas. Nic was more an affectionate term, though Valmont didn’t correct it.

Valmont towered over Nicholas, staring down at him. Waiting for him to get the courage to look up into his silver eyes. When he did there was so much conflict in his emotions. The poor guy. This was the one secret that Nicholas thought that Valmont wouldn’t be able to handle. It was just such a shock, the way he found out, and his reaction. As Nicholas started to explain, he told the history of his family and what his parents had done. Nicholas never chose this and had to live with the consequences. That was why he had kept the whole thing under wraps. As he put it, he was a girl – just without breasts. Valmont raised his head and stared straight ahead. So that was why he reacted the way he did. Valmont was attracted to this feminine side. That was a natural act, but it still didn’t make it right.

” I’ve lost someone close to me before, because they had found out. This had hurt very much, she was a good friend and I lost it all because, she’d seen me. This, this is why I’ve kept it hidden from you. I’m rather happy and content living where I have been for the past couple of years and working for you. I’ve never once lied or kept anything hidden from you Valmont, I’ve always been open and told you every single little detail but, this was just the one thing I couldn’t but, now you know of it.”

The words poured out like a torrent. The dam walls bursting as the years of pent up frustration and sadness, the loss and the knowledge it could cost Nicholas everything in this life at the Embassy was the reason for his silence as to what he was. Maybe he found a renewed confidence in speaking now, since the cat was out of the bag. But he moved closer to Valmont. The truth of what he felt when they had been in the carriage….the way he felt about the kiss. He enjoyed it. Nicholas waited breathlessly, staring up at Valmont – so confused and distressed. Valmont was also struggling with his mixed emotions. He brought his hand up, just holding it there. It was not like he was going to punch the guy…he’d never do that. But he couldn’t help this one feeling. As much as he hated to admit it. There was only one thing he could do.

Valmont brought his arms around Nicholas, and pulled him into a tight embrace. His chin resting on the top of Nicholas’s head, as he stroked his back. “I wished you’d told me sooner.” Valmont said softly. His adam’s apple sliding up and down as he frowned. “I was the one…that kissed you.” The ambassador didn’t want Nicholas to feel the guilt anymore. “I ….almost…” He was struggling to say what that kiss did for him. “Nicholas, forgive me.” He brushed Nicholas’s hair back so that the young man would look up at him.

“I wanted you….that way.”

He wasn’t rejecting him because of what he was, he just didn’t understand why he felt the way he did.

The Oracle : The Embassy of Hell – PD

Was the Oracle’s predictions leading the Embassy staff into unknown dangers?  Or was that her plan all along?

“Hmm… sounds like things must be getting interesting.. though it’s not the interesting I’d prefer obviously.”

A voice, calm and almost calculating in a chilling way that was surprising to the ones who’d been there for awhile. It came from nearby shadows, or rather a shadow that was currently forming, straight from nowhere. It was a bit strange, yes, but of course, the male who was beginning to form from this portal of darkness was the strangest and most mysterious male in Hell; in his own personal right of course, considering no one yet knew his full heritage except a few select individuals. However, while Valmont may have been used to the random and unexpected appearances of this male, Nicholas and whoever this other female was would not. After all, even if Nicholas knew Zachary’s heritage, he hadn’t had this happen to him yet.

Zachary Knight, having now fully formed with his sword in sight, and the darkness melting away from his form, stood at a moderate height with midnight colored hair and blue eyes with crimson pupils; those eyes seeing all the energy around and inside of the others, giving him a seventh sense which was an allowance to read individuals like books. Zachary gave the trio a small, sly grin which spoke of an intelligence that was always plotting away at something, regardless of his neutral disposition. Of course, this moment was no exception as he spoke up with the same voice as before.

“Well… will someone finish filling me in? All I heard was that someone was having a boy, and that they were strong enough to eclipse someone’s power; not that I’m any better really, but still, Umbra-divination isn’t always the best thing to use if you want to know things… speaking of which; I need to make a mental note to use light next time.”

Random…. but oh well! Time to find out what was really going on!

Madame gazed through Valmont, to the chair behind him – she hadn’t even blinked at the sudden voice of Zachary, a part of her expecting his arrival. “Dear, for someone to finish filling you in, we’d have to have been intending to bring you up to speed in the first place.” The words were aimed at Zachary, but still Madame Green stared forwards, her eyes towards the other blonde but not quite focused. Glazed over, even.. One might think she was blind if she had not been looking at Nicholas only moments before. “It will be catastrophic either way, Valmont.” Blue irises occupied her eyes one moment, the next she was completely white-eyed, no trace of a pupil or the pale blue that had been there prior.

Such a view was quite terrifying – this was the Madame Green that was raised under Lucifer, this was the Madame that gave off an aura of death and decay… but also life and rebirth. The aura of those so powerful their own gifts were also curses, paradoxes in strength. Madame stood, pushing her chair back. At the moment she truly was blind – but she was not moving her body, at the moment she was being moved. Her right hand, with its scarlet-colored nails, would raise. For a moment, her hair would darken, turning auburn in color, eyes beginning to glow white – this was not Madame Green, this was Raven… “Violet is his name, amber is his heart.. But the web he is led to weave is black, dripping in red..” Could this have any relation to the child that she spoke so cautiously of before?

There was an uneasy silence as the room felt as though the air in it had been sucked out, but breathing became easier within a few moments, her hair turning lighter and her eyes beginning to fade, blue appearing slowly. A soft sigh as she would sit down, taking her tea and gingerly taking a sip, as though nothing had just happened.. “We must get to the child before it can be raised under the ways of.. Raul..” Her eyes flickered from the cup to Valmont. “Imagine, such power under his influence.. The death of us all, it will be..” And then she was gone in the next moment, nothing more than a memory, her teacup resting empty on the table..

Nicholas had began eating now, it was rather delicious. Carlos was always the best for making good meals, something you’d never get tired of. He’d caught onto Valmont’s looks and simply smirked a bit, of course woman. They were such a pain at times and he’d encountered them before and seen from Valmont’s view. Though that would be a bit hypocritical considering, Nicholas himself was half woman. He could relate on some things and it tended to be annoying, a small chuckle escaped his lips from the thought, even if it was low he knew it’d be heard.

Nicholas had finished just as Zachary had come in, he didn’t seem fazed much but, that was just his front. Quietly he had taken note in his head about what Valmont said, getting up after he finished.

” Good day to you, Zachary.” He had said, before feeling the aura in the room change. His eyes wondered over to where the female sat, she was indeed different now. Observing and not saying anything, the atmosphere returned to normal and Nicholas walked to the phone.

Picking it up he’d pull out a small notepad from his pocket and then a pen from the table, where the phone sat. Picking it up he’d jot down what was said to him about remembering the kid, finishing he slipped it back in his pocket. His back was turned to them and he simply undid his tie a bit, keeping it still neat to perfection. Once the lined picked up, he’d put a hand in his other pocket, pulling out glasses and placing them on his face.

” Yes, please prepare it. Also, have Carlos make sure dinner is done, once we’re back. Thank you.” Nicholas said and hung the phone up.

Adjusting the glasses he’d put his hand through his hair and moved his bangs a bit, more hanging down. This was his way of trying to appear more mannish to the others, outside the Embassy. Whether it worked always, was unknown. He liked to hide his eyes behind the glasses and the girlish features, though he rarely wore glasses. Turning back to him with his small changes still having everything neat on him, he gave a smile.

” Everything is ready, so we may leave when you wish.”

Embassy of Hell

You had to hand it to Zachary and his sense of timing. With news such as this and at this time, it was going to be a case of the whole inner circle to be up to speed and get on the case. Naturally, Zachary wanted to be brought up to speed. He’d caught the gist of it, but Madame Green didn’t appear to keen to start from the top and relay it all again. She was funny that way about who she addressed and gave her time too. Valmont had a unique relationship with her. Some would call them a perfect match, except he didn’t appear to have to try to hard with her, or put on any false airs. Maybe it was because they were so much alike in ways that were only different by their sex. Madame Green saw the dangers in this prophecy on several levels. One being the nature of the father, two the fact that this child could eclipse the magical powers of all in Hell itself. The first thing that they needed to do, was find the mother that carried the unborn child before Raul did. Madame Green already hinted at that. For if the child was raised by the likes of Raul, it could be twice the danger that it presently was.

It appeared that this was now going to be a race. A race that Valmont was determined to win. He was also beginning to suspect that the child might even be a threat from Madame Green herself, as she had said the child would have a greater power than her own. It was strange what power did to people. Those that craved it, those who had it but always wanted more. And what of the mother? What if she discovered this pregnancy and chose to end the life before it was even born, if she could feel the power growing within.

Standing, Valmont turned to Zachary and walked the distance that separated them. Once he had him in ear shot, he said simply. “Raul the Black has sired a child within the womb of the human Bandit. The woman he had as a slave for years. Madame Green was just informing us of the danger this baby may and can cause when it is born. I have already told Nicholas to ready a carriage and make preparations for us to find the mother and child.”[/b]

This would be enough intel for Zachary to form his own conclusions. But just as Valmont was ready to head out into the hall, he could hear an odd sound coming from Madame Green. Looking back at her, he noticed that she was in some sort of trance.

“Violet is his name, amber is his heart.. But the web he is led to weave is black, dripping in red..” A cryptic message from a voice that was not Madam Green. The colours didn’t make sense, but the webbing part did. “Dripping in red” That spelt death. When Madame Green changed back to her true self, she admitted what he feared. They had to find the child and now. As she said, it could be the death of them all.

Time was of the essence, and the hunt for Bandit got underway.

Zachary’s right eye twitched at the woman who had decided to be a bit of a smart ass to him. Sometimes even Zachary had to hold back annoyances, but that was nothing compared to some things he’d heard in the past. Zachary gave a nod, and smile, to Nicholas as he said hello, his attention now almost completely on Valmont as he explained the situation. Zachary’s azure eyes narrowed for a moment as he listened, his head already spinning into action as he placed each name to a face and then began assessing everything on his own. Well… this wasn’t good, based on the little bit he heard and this, Hell was about to get a taste of some crazy shit.

Zachary nodded at Valmont, but instead of following him, the male started running in a beeline in the opposite direction on purpose. Valmont knew the purpose of Zachary doing this hopefully, especially since Zachary’s form almost immediately melted into a shadow. Zachary kept an eye on the energies of the world enough already, and he was going to trace Raul’s and Bandit’s until he found either. Which meant he was already on the trail of someone, but who? Bandit? Or Raul? Time would tell.

Nicholas had watched as everyone dispersed, leaving the place. Hearing Valmont call on them leaving, he’d ready himself and walk out of the dinning room. Everyone was going sepret ways? That seemed a bit odd but, it also made sense. They had a goal, a goal to find this person and her child. You could say it felt like some secret mission but, Nicholas knew better. Quickly before leaving her had called out to a couple of maids, explaining instructions.

” You’re to make sure everything stays tip top. You Noel, know how to contact me, if needed. Please, don’t wreck the place or you’ll face Valmont’s wrath and mind later on.” He’d said in a sweet but, sinister tone.

Their were many sides to Nicholas, some seen and some not. He could be the most gayest sweet person you’ve seen or be harsh and cruel. Of course, the first part had to do with his two parts of this being. Once everything was prepped, he walked outside to where Valmont was already in the Carriage. Giving a couple of instructions to the driver, he’d make himself inside, sitting across from Val. Something in his gut made him think something was going to happen here but, he ignored the thought and set his hands in his lap.

Bromance – The Embassy of Hell : PD

Madame Green was making herself known at the Embassy, feeling it in her mind to pass on some very interesting gossip.  Valmont and Nicholas may well have to investigate.

Tsu:  Nicholas had watched him talk, listening. Yes, hopefully whoever took next would do better. It was something he hoped, maybe someone who will have different ideals but, Nicholas wouldn’t wish. A small chuckle escaped his lips from his comment about the tie, indeed he did.

” Indeed you did, I’m very proud of you.” He said a bit teasingly and shook his head.

It was rather interesting about his relationship with him, you could say it was a unique one at it. Granted, he didn’t know about Nicholas secret, even though they were honest about things. It was something he would never tell, unless he found the right time to say it and not be afraid of the outcome. A small smile came to his face hearing about the paper work, as he walked over now.

” You’re right, it can wait. It’s time to each for, I’m starved to-“ He was cut off by hearing a woman’s voice saying ” Valmont, dear!”

Nicholas looked over and realized who it was, he thought no one was coming by. But, of course it was Madame Green, always unpredictable at times. He had looked between the two and knew of them, Nicholas knew almost any relationship between Valmont and people he knew but, some he didn’t or wished not too.

” Pleasure to you too, Ms.Green.” He said with his polite manner tone and gazed her over.

Hearing about the delay in the kitchen he was rather nervous, what was going to happen? Hearing the counting and the loud crash, he’d sigh a bit and wonder what happened. Apparently lunch will be delayed then, for a couple of minutes at least. A hand went up to rub his temple a bit, it sliding through his hair after and then landing back by his side.

” You’re looking good yourself, Ms. You’re most welcome to join us for lunch, once the kitchen is finished of course..” Nicholas said and then looked back over to Valmont.

Embassy of Hell

It was good to have such playful banter between the two men. They were close, but not in each other’s pockets. Nicholas often appeared to others to be preoccupied with diligence and good time management. All well and good in the Embassy but sometimes you needed to be a little informal. Nicholas knew when to make light of the Ambassador – picking his moments so carefully. His tease about how he was proud of the fact that Valmont had made the effort to put on a tie this day brought about a happy slap to Nicholas’s back. The hand may have lingered a little, but it was nothing over affectionate.

Kind of like…

Bromance.

As the two were heading to the dining hall, both claiming to be starved, they would be interrupted by the sound of a woman’s voice. One very determined and powerful voice. Her shrill greeting was heard practically across half the embassy. it got not only Valmont’s attention, but also that of Nicholas.

“Valmont, dear!” The voice was unmistakable. Only one woman sounded like her. Madame Green. The only woman in Hell that had managed to stay alive after a few rounds beneath the sheets with the ever intriguing Incubus. “Well, well, Madame Green. You finally decided to pop in and see me. Shame how you never return my calls.” She was well known for being Illusive. Amazing how one so petite, could have such influence and power. The joys of being an oracle. Nicholas was quick to return her greeting, but it now felt like a “three’s company” kind of situation. All back to niceties and formality. Naturally, Valmont being the gentleman that he was, reached for her hand and kissed the back of it tenderly and with affection. His eyes locked on hers for a second, knowing full well that this was not a social call at all. As per usual, it was business. Business….always came first with her.

The stiffness was broken by the sounds of breaking crockery and smashing of glass. Dramas in the kitchen, right as she arrives. Sort of a coincidence, if you asked Valmont. He quirked a brow, not at all sure of what was really going on.

Nicholas invited the vixen to stay for a meal, once the kitchen was in order again, and Valmont added to that invitation.

“I do try to impress, Madame. It’s one of my less sinister charms.”

The Ambassador then gestured for them all to go to the dining room and wait to finally be served. Valmont would usher Madame Green into a seat, and then do the same for Nicholas.

“Madame, I know you are not here for the food. Care to share the reason for your visit?”

~RB~

Artie:  “Oh, if you insist. But I’ll skip out on eating, you know I’m only here for gossip.” Madame grinned, winking a bit playfully as she was ushered into a seat, resuming the same seating position as before – one leg crossed over the other, though now both of her arms were crossed over her chest. “Listen, Val – yes, I will have tea, thank you.” Madame had turned to the upcoming waiter before speaking to Valmont once more, answering him before he could even ask the question. If she couldn’t see into the future, one might have seen this as imposing and rude, but frankly she felt that she was just saving the poor boy some breath.

“There’s a birth in our midst!” At his eyes gazing at her, she would scoff and roll her eyes. “No, not me!Raul! Yes, the ever-so-friendly warlock. What a character, innit he?” Madame would smile, her eyes adopting a mischievous glint. “With the thief! Ah.. but.. shhh… don’t tell anyone.” Madame smirked, leaning forwards to have both of her forearms against the table, as though she was telling a secret – her index finger would press against her lips, only a laugh slipping through.. This pose would last only for a few moments before she appeared to be quite serious..

https://razorbackwriteraus.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/b36b8-caradelevingne.gif

“They’re going to have a boy..! But I have a feeling their child might surpass the powers of Raul. No – I know this. Valmont. The child might be more powerful than I.” Madame suddenly looked somber at this. “The child’s name will be Grimm. I don’t know how much more of a warning I can give on this.” Her brows raised. “The child will be the savior of Hell or the ruin of it.. That much I know.” Would the violet eyes be the child’s.. or amber? Better yet.. which side was what..? With a light huff, Madame sat back. She looked up at the sky, appearing to wait for something.. but what? What could it be that she saw before they did.. Oh, it was always so curious.. “And, of course, I am still going to remain infant free..” A scoff. Valmont knew of her entire situation – it had been discussed before, in the odd chance he may have been theone… But it never happened. Fortunately, she supposed. Though the power that would come from the child would also allow a translation into the father.. So much power.. It was kind of disappointing. Who did the gods assign?

Tsu:  Feeling the slap to the back, Nicholas couldn’t help but laugh to himself. It was rather funny, he simply shook his head a bit, as they made there way to the dining hall. Being ushered to sit, he’d take a seat and cross one leg over the other, under the table. Call it one of the feminine traits he has to deal with. Nicholas didn’t have much to input to the conversation, it was mainly between them. Being as he is, he got up and went over to the other table and made the tea and drinks. He would give Valmont the usual, as his usual too. Bringing the plate with a tea cup on it and the tea, setting it down in front of Ms.Green. He was of course one for doing these things so, it was in his job.

Shifting over he handed Valmont his own and retook his seat with his own drink. Listening to the conversation he wondered what was going to happen. Maybe it’d be an interesting turn of events for hell. Someone more powerful? A thought came to his mind but, he disregard it. Nicholas wasn’t one for going into others personal fair, he only knew what he needed and who was known around here. After the time had passed, the doors open and Carlos comes out with a couple of maids. The food would of been served to Valmont and Nicholas, other items being set out on the table as fruit plates and other stuff, encase she had changed her mind. A small sigh escaped his lips as he waited for a moment and took a sip of his drink.

The Embassy of Hell

Valmont should have known. Gossip. That was Madame Green’s whole reason for the unannounced entrance. The Ambassador gave Nicholas a look that would have saidwomen. Sure, he enjoyed them, but he hated it when they got like this. Barely able to keep such juicy gossip under wraps. Oh no, they have to go from place to place like little bees, leaving a calling card with the latest fad or torrid affair. You had to wonder how such gossip would affect the standing of the Princes overall, but Madame Greed must have thought that this intel was of such significance that it needed to be known. Putting on his more passive expression, he listened to what Madame Green had to say, though her recital had a very theatrical edge to it. Think of an opera singer on a stage, in all her finery – belting out a number to woo the audience – or whip them into a frenzy of joyous hysteria.

Madame Green turned down the offer of food, but opted instead for a simple of cup of tea. Why was this starting to feel like a knitting circle? Valmont sat opposite his counterpart; Nicholas – every now and again exchanging looks of why me?”.

“There’s a birth in our midst!”

~Really? That’s what you came for?”~ Valmont thought. He could have read that in the paper, but as she went on, the significance of this event would become more apparent. Though for a moment, his wayward looks granted him the off the cuff remark “No, not me! Valmont blurted a chuckled. “No offence, but you are not the motherly type. I can see you drowning any infant you had at birth, since you are not exactly the kind that would want one to supersede them.”
Valmont knew he was right on that count. But back to the conversation. According to Madame Green, the happy couple that were expecting was none other than Raul and the infamous play toy Bandit. “Hasn’t that man learnt what a condom is?”The ambassador thought that the last thing that Raul wanted was a baby. He knew all about Raul, a vile and cruel man that had been known to have an odd fixation on the human Bandit. But still, why was Madame Green telling them this on one hand, and then swearing them to secrecy on the other. There was something not quite right about this.

“They’re going to have a boy..! But I have a feeling their child might surpass the powers of Raul. No – I know this. Valmont. The child might be more powerful than I.”

There it was. The truth to the reason for her visit. A child. A boy whose power eclipsed his parents, and even the likes of Madame Green herself. The very idea that a child could be the embodiment of such power in a place like the realms of Hell meant that not only was the unborn child and its mother in danger, but it could destroy the balance of all.

“Nicholas, take note of this. The child’s name, everything.”

https://i1.wp.com/38.media.tumblr.com/abab9e613dcd0ba6726b35eca762c32c/tumblr_nf3dycM7hl1tj3s7uo3_400.gif

As their lunch plates were being set before them now, Valmont was in deep thought about what this situation meant to them all. “The child will be the savior of Hell or the ruin of it..” The ambassador picked up a fork and toyed with it. Staring down at his plate as those words went around and around in his head. If the Mother was still carrying the child, there was time. Time to plan, time to plot. But…as for Raul, he was something of a wild card. Would he kill his own child if the boy was to rival his power, or even eclipse it. There was one thing to worry about the Princes going to war again, but this was a greater threat than any war. It was like the coming of the anti christ….all over again.

“Well, his name matches the situation. Grim.” Valmont shot another look at Nicholas. “After lunch, prepare a coach. We are going on a little trip.” To where though?

Part of  a new series on the Embassy from Hell.  Featuring characters in previous stories, this is a new version and one that is a delight to write.

A door opened and steam came out from it, a male walked out from it. His hair was down and a towel wrapped around his waist, walking over he spied out the window from the side at the garden. Nicholas walked away and pulled out his cloths that he wore, consisting of a white shirt, with a blue jacket and long black pants. Standing in front of a mirror, the towel dropped from his waist, he looked like a male, with girlish features but, it wasn’t just that. His whole lower half was of a female, he hid this very well most the time. A small sigh escaped his lips as he dressed himself and looked in the mirror, everything looked neat and tidy, just like he liked it. Bringing a towel up to his head, he dried his hair and then did a simple braid on the side. You’d wonder why a male would braid his hair but, he did it for not wanting to to hang down and because of the hormones of wanting to look like a girl, in a way. Sliding his shoes on, he opened his bedroom door and walked out, after making sure everything was folded and put away.

Today’s activities would probably resolve around just doing things in the embassy. Though with Valmont around you never knew what was expected to happen during the day. Walking down the corridor, Nicholas made his way to the kitchen where he walked in and went towards a chief.

” Hello Carlos, you’re to start lunch. I’d like to make sure everything is going fine as usual. Make sure you keep to the schedule for serving times in the meals.”

After that he had gotten a smile and firm nod from him. Once that was done he walked out and back to the hallway. Where had the ambassador been? Sure enough he’d find him soon or it’d be the opposite. After a couple of moments of thinking he headed off again coming to the living area, it was a large room that sat a couch and a bunch of other furniture. There was everything needed for one to enjoy relaxing time, depending on what they wanted to do. In the corner of the room sat a desk and chair, a rather huge shelf of books behind the chair. Nicholas walked and took a seat in the chair, the chair was faced in the opposite direction so, you couldn’t see if someone else entered the room. The boy shook his head some and picked up a pen, going back to the work he was doing the other day, completely relaxed in his home.

The paper said it all. The death of the Princess of Greed. What was it with that place? They went through monarchs like hot breakfasts. Valmont shook his head as he read over the front page of the morning’s paper, which he was late in getting. Having been back a short time from his adventure with Ruby, it was back to work – and what a day to come back. Placing his hand on the paper, as he stood at the desk – his eyes darted across the fine print again and again. It was just hard to take in. Oh, he had met Lydia a few times and at no point did he ever think she would ascend to such a high place like taking Mammon’s throne, but this was Hell and anything could happen. It looked very much like Greed itself was cursed.

https://i0.wp.com/i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y393/Matilda-the-Mastermind/tumblr_m60bh1OCNe1r7keo1_zpsfcd96381.gif

The more that Valmont thought about it, he started to piece together that it may not be the people that ran it, but more the way that they let the sin of Greed take them over that actually did them in. Wanting more than you could possibly handle. With great power came great responsibility. Valmont was more than aware of that, and was why he did not over step the bounds of his position.

A new head of Greed would need to be sworn in. But who would that be?

As far as Valmont knew Lydia had no heirs no children. But she was not at all related to Mammon when she got his throne, so there had to be another way. A sign perhaps that one was deserving. But who would want a cursed throne? Valmont rolled his eyes. He knew that he would never want such a position….ever. He liked being the Ambassador. It granted him access to each kingdom and allowed him the right to speak on the behalf of others who were indisposed.

Having read the paper, Valmont knew that a trip to Greed would be in order. To see the possible remains of Lydia and find out just what is going to happen now. With other realms always looking for an excuse to do a take over or start a war, Greed would be a sitting duck. They had already suffered great losses from the war with Wrath and another war so soon would decimate it’s population.

Valmont folded the paper neatly and tucked it under his arm as he left his office and headed out to find Nicholas. The two men would have a great deal to talk about. Walking past a clock, Valmont noticed the time and realized it was close to lunch time. Hopefully his assistant had spoken to Carlos and arranged something. Valmont being very particular about meal times.

Upon coming to the entrance of the lounge room, Valmont just made out the sound of a pen on paper and gathered that someone was seated in the confines of the room

“The news of the day is a shock to the system.”

Valmont strolled in and then over past the chair where Nicholas was seated. As usual he was impeccably dressed and neat. His hair tied back in the neat braid and he looked to be content in his writings. Valmont coughed and had his hand placed to his lips as if to appear polite. Dressed in a smart day suit and his long white locks flowing down over his shoulders, Valmont looked his regal best. His silver eyes soft against the sharp features of his face.

“Lydia is dead…” He handed Nicholas the paper, that showed a picture of Lydia in better times. ~RB~Tsu:The serpent had realized that Valmont had come in yet but, he didn’t put a notice to it. He simply continued on writing more and more, eventually he would be finish. Listening to him talk he pondered on what the news was. Keeping his eyes down he continued on writing and hearing the cough, he knew that he was indeed trying to get his attention. Nicholas had just then finished with his work and looked up towards the paper. He took it and scanned over it. So Lydia was dead? It must be a bunch of commotion going on over it.

” That is indeed a shock, who shall take the throne then? I’m sure their is a lot of commotion over it.” He’d said and set the paper down on the desk.

Adjusting some things on the desk he’d put everything back where it was and neat. After a second Nicholas would rise from his seat and looked down at his watch, it was indeed time almost. His gray eyes had moved to look at Valmont and gave him a quick scan, dressed in business as usual but, he did indeed look his best as always. Though those thoughts were kept to ones self. Putting his hand in his pocket he’d pull out a small black book and opened it, looking down at it. A couple of his bangs would fall towards his face and you could definitely tell his girlish features but, why’d he look like that? After a moment later he looked up at him and gave a smile.

” Apparently you have nothing today, unless something comes up. So, you’re free today to do what you please. And lunch shall be ready in a few minutes so, we can head over there if you want.” He said firmly.

Nicholas shifted a bit on his weight and pushed the chair into the desk, he had a huge tendency as always to make sure everything was neat, which wasn’t always bad. Razorbackwriter:The Embassy of Hell

Nicholas asked a very good question. She was also right as to the fact that there would be a great deal of commotion over it. Letting out a sigh, Valmont actually shrugged his shoulders. They would need to investigate the current situation over in the Greed Kingdom before any analysis could be made. He had no idea who would take the throne. Lydia had kept much to herself and well Mammon – he wasn’t the easiest bastard to deal with. No wonder he died so horribly at the Wrath castle. Fools rush in.

Thankfully, Valmont was no fool, nor was he in a hurry to go over to the Greed Kingdom just yet. It would be unprofessional and almost a bit morbid to go seeking answers. The paper offered little, aside from the fact that the woman was in fact dead. Gruesome details were to follow, that was for certain. It was unusual to see Valmont without answers, but if he was bothered, then he certainly didn’t act like it.

“Let us hope that whoever takes the crown has better luck than the last two, hmm?’ It was said with a light smile as Valmont watched Nicholas arrange things on his desk. So particular he was about things. A neat freak, or merely punctual? We all have our own habits and idiosyncrasies. The incubus never minded, and in fact he appreciated the fact that Nicholas liked things to be tip top and running efficiently. Noticing Nicholas glance at his watch, Valmont knew that there would be a reason for that. Valmont was ready for anything. Dressed in an impeccable suit and his hair brushed to gleaming. He felt Nicholas look him over and this made him chuckle.

“I even remembered to wear a tie.”

” Apparently you have nothing today, unless something comes up. So, you’re free today to do what you please. And lunch shall be ready in a few minutes so, we can head over there if you want.” Stated in a very business like manner. A touch of firmness to his tone, yet…the way that his hair flicked before his eyes…that braid. In a different light, one might consider him effeminate. Always well groomed, but this one time that the lock of hair fell forward – it showed a gentleness to his being. Not that Valmont minded.

“I think the paperwork can wait.” He had caught on that Nicholas was doing last minute checks. “Let us walk out to the dining hall. I’m starved.” Another one of Valmont’s beaming smiles appeared as he gestured for Nicholas to walk at his side. “No one needs us, hmm?”

Not at the moment they didn’t…but they would soon.

Pop!

(Her voice is that of Regina’s/Dark-Haired Woman)

“Valmont, dear!” The blonde appeared, her face visible on the contrary of that Raul had seen, her blonde hair falling effortlessly down her shoulders and to her mid-back. Valmont and she could pass as siblings with such similar features – her jaw was strong for a woman’s, his strong for a male’s. They both had blonde hair, and light eyes with fair skin. While his eyes were devoid of all color, hers were tinted blue. This was their difference. “Ah, Nicholas. A pleasure.” As if she didn’t know they were already there..

“Read the paper already, good, then I am on schedule.. But you, will not be. I do know you’re quite particular about things, but there’s going to be a bit of delay in your kitchen.” Madame Green was short compared to Valmont, and was even short when paired with Nicholas. But her aura was more than enough to make up for it, her hand straightening Valmont’s tie absentmindedly. Ah, yes. The seer, Madame Green. She and Valmont had been somewhat on/off in their relationship, settling for what one would call “friends with benefits” – but the benefits were not often. Business partners? Oh, blast, it was all so complicated.

With a devilish grin she would sit on the chair nearest the two, crossing one leg over the other. “In 3.. 2..” CRASH! The shattering of glass was heard in such a monstrous noise, even with the kitchen being ways away. “Lunch will be delayed by… Approximately three and a half minutes.” Her eyes flashed white and then returned to their pale blue. “No. Six minutes, 47 seconds if you decide to check on it. Carlos is panicking enough, your appearance will leave him flustered. I don’t blame him, you do look quite.. what’s the word.. smashing, Valmont.” A smirk as she would take her index finger, pressing the tip to her bottom lip and leaning back, the other arm crossing over her chest.~3~

Ruby – Part Eight : SS.

Zu:  Ruby heard the question that Valmont asked, following what was written on her board. Ruby only seen this words being said and written in letters she would see when killing targets in their homes. She had quite the memory of these words, and surprisingly could write them out too. Ruby came up to Valmont and took his hand, giving a small tug to her direction to indicate that she wanted him to come with. There was no way Ruby would leave Valmont alone, not after what they’ve went through recently. She couldn’t fight the urge to go where her mind was taking her. She never once felt this way before, to try and really find out about herself. Maybe it was Valmont’s kindness that sparked this into her conscious, but that would mean it was there to begin with.

Ruby, once Valmont followed her lead, went to the front gate and looked for the carriage that Valmont used when they first meet. It may be a long journey and unlike herself, Valmont didn’t seem like the type for long distance travel without a little help.

The small tug on his hand made Valmont aware that Ruby wished to leave the Embassy and begin a quest of sorts. The only thing was that the Ambassador had just returned to the Embassy, and wasn’t sure if he should just rush off now, what with the orders he had given Zachary. The ambassador frowned for a moment, since he was tied between his duty, and that of his friendship for Ruby. In a way this was like cutting class, running from responsibility on a journey to God knows where. He thought about this for a moment, and saw that his travel carriage was at the ready just beyond the gates.

“I should go see them first.” Speaking of his adviser and secretary. But Ruby was insistent. She wanted to go, and now. Valmont fell into step with the hooded girl and walked with her to the gates. She only stopped to look up at the carriage, and then back at Valmont, conveying her wish to use it – just by the way her eyes shone at him.

“Alright…alright.” His hand motioned for her to get aboard. The driver hopping down gingerly, and opening the door for the couple. Once inside, Valmont checked his purse. He had more than enough silver and gold coins to pay for their keep in which ever inn or tavern that they stopped at, and he had a trunk of clothes on board – just in case of an emergency.

“Let’s go then.” He banged on the door of the carriage when he and Ruby were properly seated. The carriage spiriting off when the driver cracked the whip.

~RB~

Zu:  Good, now Valmont won’t have to walk long distances. He wasn’t used to it, he wasn’t the type to go anywhere without some type of transportation. Ruby, however, has been walking through Hell all her life. Ruby got into the carriage before Valmont and took her seat beside him. She wondered where they’d go, or if wherever they were headed was even remotely helpful. Ruby just couldn’t shake this feeling, no matter how hard she tried. This had never happened before, the hidden desire to do much of anything when it came to what she wanted. Looking at Valmont, as they rode off, she wondered if it had anything to do with him. Maybe she wanted to actually speak to him, which was a first thing she ever considered when it came to interaction. Whatever the case, she leaned against Valmont, resting both her body and head onto him so she could get a few minutes of sleep.

The carriage had to make a halt, and the sudden jolt caused Ruby to fall forward. However, being aware as she was, Ruby was able to catch herself before falling face first into the seat. She looked around, a tired expression on her face. How long was the ride? Ruby turned to Valmont, wondering just what was happening. She saw that this was some place she’s never seen before, and put on her hood just to be safe. If Valmont were to ask why they stopped, the driver would say I’m sorry Sir, but it seems our horses are tired. They just need some water though I would like to have a few drinks myself. Once we leave, they’ll be a place to stay. I know exactly where it is. They would have to deal with that, for without horses there would be no carriage. Ruby jumped out and looked at the place they were at. It was a place with people in weird outfits. She turned to Valmont for an answer.

Razorbackwriter:

Bar/Brothel

In the back of the carriage, even Valmont had dozed off. The carriage ride taking much longer than imagined and after trying to stay awake, the ambassador succumbed to sleep. That was until the carriage came to an abrupt halt, causing Valmont to lurch forward sharply. He woke in time before going fully ass over tit, but he wasn’t able to save Ruby, who had managed to face plant into the seat in front of her. It would have been comical, had it not been for the tired expression upon her face. Valmont helped right her when she looked up at his inquisitively. She was at a loss as to why they stopped, as was Valmont. The driver was the one to advise them of why they were at this destination. The horses were tired, and it was hardly surprising. They had come so far without rest. Opening the door, Valmont assisted Ruby out, and nodded up at the driver.

“By all means, once you have watered the horses and stable them, I suggest you have a good meal and a few drinks. I know I could use a drink.”

Being the gentleman that he was, Valmont escorted the hooded Ruby inside the establishment. One thing about these sorts of places, it was not for the faint hearted. Women of the night were draped across paying customers, mostly travelers and traders. Music was playing with a jaunty beat, and behind the bar, a rotund inn keeper was wiping out a glass, as he stared at the new arrivals. They were hardly dressed for travelling, truth be known – especially Valmont. He had not had time to change, so he was a little overdressed for the establishment.

“Can I book three rooms, and we’ll take a table now.”

“Yes, Sir.”

The Innkeeper was quick to find them a table, which he cleaned off briskly. Other patrons stopped what they were doing – their eyes following the pair along, which might have made Ruby feel uncomfortable. Valmont drew out a chair for her and waited for her to sit.

~RB~

Zu:  Thank you Sir, it shouldn’t take too long really, he said with a grin on his face. It may have seemed he wanted to stop here himself, but the horses were visibly tired too. When Ruby entered into the Brothel, she noticed even more weirdly dressed demons. Ruby had a feeling this wasn’t normal, but it seemed everyone was fine with it so she would be too. The people here did have this odd gaze, looking at Ruby, making her retreat into her hood and stay even closer to Valmont. They wondered what a little girl was doing in a place like this, with Valmont no less. He was well-known, after all. Ruby was sat down thanks to Valmont, and she watched him take his seat. She pulled out her board, which surprisingly she was really good at communicating with.

? was all she added to the board. She had no idea what this place was, she’s never seen it. It was clear by her facial expressions alone.

Razorbackwriter:

Brothel/Bar

Valmont should have known by the look of lust on the driver’s face that he picked the brothel for a very good reason as a place to stop and rest the horses. Shaking his head at their predicament, Valmont resigned himself to having to bring Ruby into such an establishment. No doubt this was not exactly a suitable place to bring a child and by the looks others were giving them both – along with how she was looking at them, this was going to be hard to explain.

Sitting down opposite Ruby, he saw her write the question mark on the chalk board. With the bar returning to normal and the laughter along with crude talking going on – as well as some rather shocking behaviour, Valmont rubbed his cheek and winced. Temptation was all around him and he grabbed a fork off the table to take under it, just so he could stick it in the back of his hand to stop his own lustful thoughts.

“It’s a place of ill repute. A brothel.” He gestured towards a woman that was straddled over a demon, with his face practically buried within her massive breasts. The man was making licking sounds as well as saying some pretty rude things about what he was going to do to her.

Valmont rolled his eyes and stuck the fork deeper into his skin. This was pure torture.

“I think I need a drink. INN KEEPER!”

Ruby – Part Seven : SS.

The tears flow freely as Ruby is struggling to understand her feelings and how it was even possible to find a friend in Valmont.

Razorbackwriter:  What greeted Valmont’s words was the most tragic thing he could have seen – the last thing he ever wanted to see. With her hood falling back and showing off her face to full view, it was the utter sadness, the spill of many tears that had now soaked her skin. Even her stitches were wet. Valmont’s heart sank. Did he cause this? The incubus was now questioning himself. Everything he had done up to this point, what was it that brought about her pain? You could see the quizzical expression along with regret. Regret for whatever it was that he had done wrong. The girl just sat there and stared up at him. Almost like looking right through him. No one had ever done this to him before. Valmont had never seen a girl cry.

“What have I done?”

Valmont knelt down upon the grass on one knee. He wanted to know what it was that was wrong, and how he could fix it. The ambassador was very good at diplomatic work, but dealing with someone’s feelings. Watching on in silence, he saw Ruby take out the chalk board that he had given her. Her hand was shaking so much it was hard to see what she was trying to write, but soon it became apparent just what it was.

Hurts

“Hurts?” Valmont saying the very word that she was feeling. What hurts, how does it hurt….where? Again, the ambassador was at a loss on where to begin. His eyes searching hers for answers, till it dawned on him.

“Has no one ever shown you affection before?” Was that it? Had Valmont innocently brought about a wave of sorrow from her lost memories. Valmont reached across for her hand. “How do I make it stop?”

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby saw that she wasn’t the only one hurt by the current state of affairs. Valmont too, for what he was, felt sorrow for what had happened. Ruby didn’t want him to feel sad, he had no need to be sad. It was Ruby who should feel this way. She looked at him with this expression of don’t be sad, even if her face showed little resemblence of that. Ruby stared at him for what seemed like hours, til finally she went for her board again. Valmont understood her, but how she even wrote down what she wanted to say was something short of a miracle. Another word came crashing through her skull, and she wiped down the board furiously to make room for it. She stared to write again, though this time with a little more shake. Maybe if she kept her feelings bottled up, it’d work out and she’d feel better about it. When she finally wrote it down, she showed Valmont again.

Don’t.
She didn’t want it to stop. It was a feeling she never felt before, the feeling of being loved and cared for. For Valmont to ask how to stop it was something she was terrified for. Ever since she grew comfortable around Valmont, for what little time she did, Ruby wanted nothing more than to be around him. Ruby let down her board, which still hung over her chest, and held her arms out to Valmont. She wanted a hug, because if she was to feel better she’d rather be in Valmont’s arms to do such.

Razorbackwriter:
Seeing the sudden change in Ruby’s face, as though she was asking Valmont not to be sad, the Ambassador had trouble responding to it. He mirrored her in a lot of ways, and it was only natural that he should take responsibility for whatever it was that he had done to make her feel this way. What he didn’t understand was that Ruby wanted to have these feelings. Odd as that might sound. Why?

Watching her start to scribble madly on the chalkboard again, Valmont would read the one word that asked him how to help her.

“Don’t

The Ambassador held his breath as his brow creased and he sat there, almost dumbfounded. Women were so incredibly confusing at times. But then, she dropped the board and held out both her arms towards him. She wanted to be held. Maybe being held she could come to grips with her fears. Valmont genuinely did not want to hurt her at all. It was the last thing he’d ever do. So, carefully, Valmont drew Ruby up into his lap as he made himself more comfortable upon the ground, and brought her head towards his chest, so that her cheek would be pressed to his coat. His arm enveloped her, while his free hand gently stroked her hair. If she listened, she could hear the beating of his heart within his chest. A smooth rhythm that would be soothing. Steady and strong.

Valmont wouldn’t speak a word. Instead just rocking her gently and letting the gentle breeze play about them as they became closer, due to the solitude of the gardens. Would she grow to accept this affection he offered her?

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby watched as Valmont read the word she formed onto the chalkboard. She could tell that he didn’t know what was going on in the slightest. That was okay, she didn’t need him to. All she wanted to feel was his love, that was the only thing he had to do. She was taken into his arms, and she felt comforted. Ruby felt well, though tears streamed down her face; this time, they were happy tears. It may not take a short amount of time, but Ruby hoped she’d get used to this. Though she could have had the mind of an adult, and the experience of one too, Ruby was only a child in actuality. Ruby took Valmont’s shirt, and gripped it with her fragile hands, resting her head against his chest. She shouldn’t have ran from him, but it felt too much for her to handle and for that, she did have to stay away from Valmont until she could get a hold of herself. Now, she did; it felt lovely.

Razorbackwriter:
Feeling the soft fall of Ruby’s tears upon his shirt, he knew that he had not been able to stop the flow of tears. Course, he didn’t realize that these were happy tears. Ruby tugged at his shirt and pulled it to her face with her tiny hands, her head nestled to his chest – being as close to him as she could possibly get. Valmont would hold her for as long as it took, till the shudders from her tiny body abated, and she was able to gain control over her emotions once more. Valmont let out a sigh, almost like he was relieved in a sense. She could have run from him again, but instead she confronted her fears and held on to him to help her get past what it was that she feared most.

Valmont’s hand came to a stop at the back of her head. Keeping it there firmly so she could feel the comfort that he’d never let her go. How would this have looked from the Embassy windows? Was anyone watching the pair? Maybe. But Valmont didn’t care. He’d tried to teach her a great deal in a very small amount of time, and it is completely possible that he had overwhelmed the poor girl into such a state that she fled from him in the ballroom.

“You don’t have to ever fear me, Lady Ruby. To some, I am a monster, beneath the frill and lace of my attire. But to you, I will always be your friend. You can count on that.”

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby felt safe, this was something she never even thought of before. She had always been on the run, always hiding from others thanks to her job as a killer. Nobody ever gave her love like Valmont, she didn’t know what to do with herself. Now she realized that this feeling would always be around, and she’d just get used to it soon. Ruby didn’t want to leave Valmont’s side and she thought to herself that he didn’t want that either. She felt his comfort rest upon her skull, and because of that she looked up. She was greeted by a soft-spoken Valmont who did not steer away using his eyes.

Ruby didn’t know a word that could response to that, but if there was one thing she knew how to do, it was show her emotions without words. She only dug herself more into Valmont’s breasts, having her stitches move slightly, very invisible, to a grin. Never before had Ruby grinned before, and though it didn’t look that way she felt good about this grin. She could tell that this relationship would last forever.

Razorbackwriter:  They say the greatest rewards in life are the simplest of things. Who could believe, that the girl whose mouth was sewn shut so crudely, could ever be able to smile. And yet, this is what Ruby did. It was by far one of the most wonderful moments of Valmont’s life. Did the girl understand what this made him feel? It was better than any word that could be spoken in gratitude or thanks. As each stitch moved, so to did the strings on Valmont’s heart. It swelled with pride to know that the hooded girl believed in him. Believed in their friendship – which was still so new. For both of them, this was a change in their behaviors, but so rewarding. Valmont was not feeling the same urges he did with women. This was a love of a different kind. Not that Valmont had ever truly loved anything or anyone before. No one was deserving of such. All had their ideals and ambitions, such as Lydia. That woman could turn the purest of joy into ashes in your mouth.

Valmont gazed down at Ruby with a fondness and affection that one would expect from a father figure. Ruby was a child in her form and the ambassador had no idea that beneath the sweet face, lay the heart of a woman that had lived a long time. There was so much still that Valmont did not know about Ruby, but for now he was at peace to know that he had stopped the unhappy tears and given her a source of comfort that no one else ever could.

“As time and the elements shift across these lands like sand in the hour glass, you can always count on me to be by your side.”

~RB~

Zu:  Every word spoken by Valmont was like elegent music gracing her ears. She took every word in, and never let it out of her mind. His voice was so soothing, comforting. Ruby was glad for the bond they had, and it was still fresh. There was so much out there for them to explore and enjoy. Though Ruby could not speak, her actions spoke louder. Sure, there were barriers but Ruby was content with that. Every relationship did have it’s problems, no? Ruby was about to write something when a small flash of memory entered her mind. Her face tensed a bit as she struggled to remember what that just was. She looked at Valmont, confused, then at th ground. What the hell was that flash? It seemed like a memory, but was it really?

Razorbackwriter:  Yes, their bond was one that was now unshakable, that was how Valmont viewed it. Seeing her smile was worth any heart ache or confusion. But as they enjoyed this new found closeness, it seemed that there were some things that still troubled the girl. She was about to write something on her small chalk board, to express how she felt, yet something made her pause. Her face tensing, like her eyes narrowing and the happy smile fading from view. Perhaps something had been triggered in this moment, but without her way to communicate this, she simply stared up at Valmont, then looked to the ground.

“What is it, Lady Ruby?”

Valmont knew that there must be something she wished to tell him, but for now she was unable too. They were obviously going to have many moments like this one, where she experienced flashbacks of sorts. The awakening stream of new emotions were bound to trigger them. A simple word, a piece of music, or even the joy of being held, can remind a person of an event long before this time.

Valmont was a patient enough man to wait for her to be ready to tell him.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby looked back up at Valmont when he asked this question, and her face showed the one emotion she felt at the very moment. Confusion; Ruby had no idea herself, so there was no way she could convey what she was confused about. Ruby slowly pushed herself away from Valmont to stand back up again. She was fine, so there was no need for hugging anymore. Ruby looked at Valmont, maybe if she was to leave here she’d find out just what happened. She grabbed her chalk, thinking of what the word was. She’s seen it once, and the word did flash in front of her face. After using her excellent memory, she wrote it down.

Go.

Razorbackwriter:  The bewildered expression upon Ruby’s face caught the Ambassador off guard. Feeling her push away gave Valmont the chance to get to his feet, and lightly brush himself off of the grass and leaf litter upon the ground. Had the ambassador’s reassuring embrace done the trick?

Watching her take out the chalk and the board again, Valmont leaned forward – wondering just what she was going to write this time. It could be anything, now that she had regained her composure. The chalk squeaked as it ran along the black board surface, shaping two letters only.

“Go.”

The fact that she could write in the common language, actual words meant that there was a side to Ruby that had once been schooled in how to write and communicate this way. It was actually a relief to see, because this alone meant that it would save them weeks, or months of tuition. But back to the word. ‘Go.’ Did she wish to leave the Embassy, to find herself?

“You wish to leave, Lady Ruby?” Was that what she needed to do?

“The gate is just a few hundred metres that way.” Valmont pointed in the right direction, before asking. “Do you want me to come with you?”

Was this a journey that she wished to take on her own?

Ruby – Part Six : SS.

roosterteeth animated GIF

We follow Valmont and Ruby as the Ambassador gives the young hooded mute a tour of the Embassy.  All good intentions however bring back memories, that the girl cannot suppress.

Scene setting: The Embassy of Hell – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Zu.

Zu: This place was amazing; everywhere Ruby went, Valmont had something that would show off just how wealthy he truly was. Just by his house alone, Ruby knew the kind of man Valmont was. Without words to speak, Ruby could see people in a far different light than others who could speak. She was very observant, and even if she was distracted, it didn’t mean she was paying attention. Despite these flaws, Ruby still loved Valmont the way he was. Without his help, she’d still be drifting from one place to another, endlessly finding nothing that would give her comfort.

She heard the servants speaking to Valmont, yet didn’t pay them any mind. She was too busy seeing this… empty room. It was just a room, with nothing in it. Was this the place where dance happens? Ruby wasn’t sure how you could do this… whatever it was, in a place where there was nothing in it. She’d find out soon enough.

Ruby looked up at Valmont, who had taken her hand and waist in his hands. This felt weird, and she even had a small blush to compliment this feeling. Valmont was really close to her; it was no problem to be around him, but being this close, Ruby could now see just how beautiful he really was. Her eyes, which weren’t exposed thanks to the hood, were drifting to the floor so she wouldn’t embarrass herself in front of Valmont. She only followed Valmont’s lead, and this dance was… pretty good. Ruby felt like she was drifting on air, and Valmont was the one to lead her across the sky. She did look up at him after pushing aside her emotions, which was a bit overbearing, and only pulled herself right against Valmont. She could dance like this forever, being in the arms of someone who cared.

The Embassy of Hell

The music drifted around the room, enveloping Valmont’s senses as he let himself become one with Ruby in the dance. It was a natural high that to many would be hard to understand. The closeness of contact, and moving to the tune of the music in a dance that was as old as time itself. By the look on Ruby’s face, she too was being caught up in the magic of the dance. She was following on in perfect unison with the Ambassador, as he took her around the floor in sweeping circles that would make anyone feel light headed.

The show of blush on Ruby’s cheeks looked adorable, in Valmont’s mind. It was interesting for him, to find her react so. The Ambassador could not hide his smile which would be infectious. If only Ruby was able to do the same. The crude stitching would limit this ability, but does one really need lips to smile? Eyes can too.

When Ruby looked up into Valmont’s eyes, the Ambassador whispered.

“You are very light on your feet, Lady Ruby”

Of course she was. For such a girl that could wield a great weapon, there was practically nothing of her and she floated along the marble floor surface with ease and grace. Not bad for a first time.

When the song came to its glorious end, the Ambassador simply held Ruby for a moment, staring into her eyes. Was it possible for her to bewitch the incubus. He was having to keep himself well under control, which was a good thing….for both of them.

“That was wonderful.” The Ambassador bowed low from the waist once he let her go and gave her space. “I would like very much to do that again sometime.”

Zu:  Ruby just stared at Valmont in the eyes as they graced the floor with their motions. When she realized, in the middle of the dance, that she was just staring straight into his soul, as her eyes were seemingly lifeless, she just brought her head down to make contact with his chest. She wanted to bury herself in it for looking so dumb, but nearing the end of the dance, she had the confidence to look up at him again. By that time, the dance had already ended it’s run and so too did the music. Valmont was so sweet to her, treated her like she was something precious to him and this was a feeling that Ruby had always wanted but now that she did, Ruby didn’t know exactly how to take it. Her chest was beating like mad drums from the thoughts running through her head. It really was a good thing they stopped, she could compose herself.

However, just because the dance ended didn’t mean their closeness did. As their eyes locked onto each other, her blush became far more red and she even got a bit transparent from this encounter. Without thought, she actually wasn’t becoming a ghost at random moments; it really had to do with her emotions. Of course, that wasn’t what Ruby was thinking about. When Valmont bowed to her, and gave her some space to breath, she just held her hands against her chest. Never in her life, during her time in Hell, has she felt such a warm feeling. Could ghosts even feel warmth?

Valmont couldn’t help but feel the swelling of pride when Ruby placed her head to his chest as they danced. This contact was unique to Valmont. The girl had been careful in showing herself, let alone letting her emotions drive her movement. Was she shy of how she felt at this moment, or was she feeling a real closeness towards the Ambassador? Valmont moved his hand towards the centre of her back and caressed it with a feather like gentle touch. Even though he was an evil creature by nature, he was more than capable of affection, and this was what she deserved. His own head lowered and to look at them from afar, you may be mistaken for thinking that the were more than just friends.

After the bow that he presented to her in gratitude for the dance, it was Ruby who kept her hands upon his chest. It was at this moment, that Valmont happened to notice that she became in part translucent. What was causing this, he wondered to himself. He wouldn’t question her of course. Why ask something that may upset her? That was the last thing he wanted to do. Instead he brought his hands up to be placed over her own. A beautiful smile playing upon his lips.

“You are the most intriguing girl I have ever met, Lady Ruby.”

Normally he would be off again speaking of the next room that they should visit, or acting more like a dignitary, but he wished to be more than that. Valmont wanted to find out more about the girl. How she came to be in Hell for starters, and who would do such a thing as to silence her forever more. Valmont’s heartbeat was now the only sound that could be heard. Powerful and strong beneath his chest. His silver hair rested upon his broad shoulders, and he looked very much how you would expect an incubus to look. His thumbs slowly caressing Ruby’s soft skin.

For once, he was lost for words.

~RB~

Zu:  These emotions that Ruby were just now experiancing started to take it’s toll. It’s not that her body couldn’t handle it, nor that her mind could, but just the sudden rush of compassion shown by Valmont was enough to make her go crazy. She had heard of this word, but never knew what it meant; love. Is that what Valmont was displaying, the word love? Ruby, by the words combined with the hands over hers made her lose it and her whole body grew transparent, so that Valmont could not feel her warm skin, which was all thanks to him. Being invisible now, Ruby suddenly panicked and ran out the room, almost in tears. Only the sound of her footsteps could be heard, and it was the only thing Valmont knew about if he chose to follow her.

Ruby, if asked to stop, couldn’t hear him. Everything was happening to fast, and there was just no way that someone could make her feel this way. Ruby just didn’t know what to do with herself; she had seemed to grow attached to Valmont but now, now she couldn’t be in the same room as him. She wept and because of that blurry vision, she was hitting the walls. Of course, being a ghost, she could easily go through it. She was outside now, back at the courtyard where Valmont had consumed his food. She dropped there, her body shaking from the raw emotions and switching uncontrollably from transparent to visible.

The Embassy of Hell

Music attracts the most unlikely of guests, and while Valmont had been dancing with his young charge Ruby, another was watching from high in the ceiling. She had been wandering across the realms of Hell, amused by the carryings on by the likes of Greed and Pride. Now she had come to visit what was an old…family friend. Little did she know that Valmont had been entertaining the young Miss Ruby. Like a spider, Charlotte crawled across the roof silently, her hair hanging down as she tried to contain her mirth at the sight of the Ambassador dancing with the strange red hooded girl. She was like a voyeur at times, but that was just her way.

Down below, the Ambassador did not realize that his show of affection had caused Ruby to go completely transparent. But not only that she could no longer be felt. One moment, he was dancing with her, the next she vanished and the only way to tell that she had left the room was by her footfalls, as she ran away. Valmont lowered his arms to his sides, turning ever slightly, as he called out to her. “Ruby?” Had he done something to upset her? He hadn’t used his demon ways against her, in fact it was the opposite. Incubus were not supposed to feel or express an act of genuine love. This was what made it all the more unusual.

This was of course the perfect time for the girl high above to make her presence known.

“You frightened her away….” Charlotte said in a whimsical voice, before letting out a dark chuckle and descended from the ceiling on a strand of silver thread, before her feet bounced upon the floor.

“Ever heard of knocking, Ms Carrendar?”

Valmont didn’t even have to look to know who it was.

“And interrupt the dance? Why that would be rude, and you know me, I like to make an entrance.” The dark haired beauty winked at Valmont saucily, before skipping over to the door, to peak out and see where the girl had gone too. She tutted her tongue before looking back at Valmont.

https://i2.wp.com/i55.tinypic.com/mjmryd.gif

“Did you touch her ass?”

“No…I did no such thing.”

Charlotte pointed at him and then started to walk over with a saucy gait. “But you wanted to.” She grinned, flashing rows of perfect teeth.“Valmont and Ruby..sitting in a tree…K…I….S..S…”

“Enough with the games, Char. What are you doing here?” Valmont was becoming greatly annoyed with the young woman, who was practically giddy at getting under his skin. It was a game to her and she licked the top of her teeth before walking up and behind him.

“Greed is in trouble….again.”

Valmont raised a brow. He knew about the disaster of a ball, but nothing of what happened to Lydia. Clearly, Charlotte knew since she had been staying at the Greed Castle at the time. “Go on.” Valmont said dryly, only interested in this conversation due to the fact that what affected one kingdom, affected all.

“Remember….the suit that Mammon wore to his death?”

“Beserker….yes of course. Horrid thing that it is. The fool was mad for wearing it.”

“Someone stole it. Right….from under Lydia’s nose.”

“Well….”

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/2d/d9/1b/2dd91b19448a5e59004d9d56c7b3eee1.jpg

“Mhm…” Charlotte grinned widely. “Servants…of Sloth.” Why would Charlotte find this so amusing? What was worse, why did the Ambassador suddenly find this very amusing. So, Sloth wanted Beserker? For what possible purpose? Charlotte picked at an imaginary speck of dust on Valmont’s coat and blew it away, as she could see the cogs in Valmont’s mind were turning.

“I suppose this means I should pay them a visit.” Valmont pushed Charlotte’s hand away, which made her pout in a mocking fashion. “And do what? You want to see if Belphegor is derp enough to put it on?”

Valmont snickered loudly. “That’d make my day.” But soon the smile faded from his face, as he remembered that he still had to find Ruby. She was either somewhere in the building or outside. He glanced down at Charlotte who was waiting to see what the Ambassador had planned. “What?” She didn’t like how he changed from being the scoundrel that he was, back to this pompous ambassador. “But really, I can’t. Not yet. I need to find Ruby.”

Charlotte blew a raspberry and rolled her eyes. “Fine…go find your little hooded dolly and play. I think I will go and entertain myself with your staff.” Charlotte blew Valmont a kiss, before sashaying out of the room, headed for Zachary’s office.

Valmont, now alone – pulled on the edges of his jacket, and headed out in the opposite direction for the Embassy gardens, in search of Ruby.

~RB~

Zu:  Her body, her mind, down to her very soul and everything in between was going haywire. Ruby didn’t now what to do with herself. She didn’t have a mouth to scream, maybe to lessen the pain but with her voice lost to the people responsible, Ruby couldn’t do such a thing. The only thing she could do was cry in silence as her image faded and came back like a flicker of a lightbulb. She covered her eyes, shaking terribly and all for what; it was only someone who cared for her. It was nothing special, but to Ruby it was everything. Not once in her life here in Hell had she ever encountered someone who actually gave a damn about her existence. Any time there was a chance, her ghostly powers took over and she wouldn’t interfere with their lives in the slightest. This however, was different, and Ruby couldn’t handle all of these emotions that were hitting her skull like a sledgehammer.

Maybe Ruby needed to kill something, or someone. That could possibly cheer her up, but without the will to even move from her downed position, she wasn’t going to do that. Her mind was so fragile, that another problem came about. Memories, though they were not ones that Ruby knew of. She didn’t know what that even meant but right before her eyes, flashes of blurry images spun through her head like a cog out of control. None made sense, but she did see a few things that stood out. An image of a hag, herself looking human and a flash of light. WHAT THE HELL DID ALL THIS MEAN!?

Razorbackwriter:

The Embassy of Hell

Walking along the corridor, Valmont saw that the door to the gardens was opened, and though it may not have been the direction that Ruby had taken in her flight from the ballroom, it didn’t hurt to take a look outside to see if this was where she had gone. The ambassador grew concerned as he walked out the garden door, and cast his eyes across the vast estate. He happened to glance down to where he and the other staff, along with Ruby had enjoyed a light meal. It was down there that he happened to spot the crimson red hood. This is where she had ended up.

Valmont didn’t run down to be at her side. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her all the more, though he was still unsure as to why she ran in the first place. Had no one ever shown that they had cared for her before? Valmont was not one to know, since he had not yet been able to get much out of her, apart from a nod, and the dance of course.

Ambling down, he walked with his arms at his sides with a troubled expression. It didn’t take much to see that Ruby was deeply distressed. He stopped a good few feet from her and bowed his head.

“I’m sorry…if I upset you.” His words were almost a whisper. “I felt the need to touch you, and if that was inappropriate, than I can’t do enough to beg your forgiveness.”

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby suddenly stopped her shaking when she heard Valmont’s voice. The man that made all this happen, both good and bad, was now right behind her. She turned her head, and slowly let her hood drop down and Valmont would be greeted by a face full of saddness. Her tears flooded her face and made her look quite ugly. Even her stitches got wet, but the one good thing was that her disappearing act was slowly coming to a halt. She just stared at him, almost into his soul, as if asking a question she couldn’t form. One word, there was one word that continued to flash in her mind and scatter all around Valmont. It was the only word she could see. Remembering her board, Ruby, with a shaky hand, grabbed it and tried her best to create this word. She used her entire hand to write it out, and the word was hardly visible when Valmont would see it due to her poor hand-writing but that one word spoke volumes.

Hurts.

Ruby – Part Five : SS.

Sharing his knowledge, Valmont wanted to show Ruby a world that he was from.  He was trying to invoke memories, that may help her remember her past life, and who she really was.

Scene setting: The Embassy of Hell : Seven sins series.

Co-written with Zu.

Zu:  Ruby took the arm offered to her, and the both of them went their way to the training room. It had been awhile since Ruby used her weapons against someone, but she had a feeling there would be no killing involved. In a way, Ruby was disappointed but it was just her nature for a long time; not killing would go against that very nature. She saw the… whatever that was that Valmont took from Nicholas, and it may be the thing that she’d use to talk to others. Ruby didn’t mind, but when she thought about it, wasn’t it that thing that others used to make words? She didn’t know how those things worked, but she’d learn very soon. She placed her hood back over herself, almost as if to calm herself down.

Razorbackwriter:  With Zachary and Nicholas both set tasks to do, this meant that the Ambassador was able to escort Ruby freely to the training room. The incubus had taken from Ruby’s expression and demeanor that she was uncomfortable with all the fuss of the sudden arrival of staff. It was something that she might have to get used to if she had any plans on staying at the embassy on a more permanent basis. Taking his arm and placing the hood back over herself, the crimson hooded girl now seemed to be more at ease just in Valmont’s company. With the board and chalk in one hand and Ruby on the arm, he escorted her through to the next corridor and down a passage.

“This room does not get used much. Training is something that only happens in a time of war and thankfully the last war was pretty much over before it started.” The doors would be opened by two guardians and this allowed Valmont to walk Ruby through without trouble or letting her go.

On arriving inside, Ruby would find herself in a large expansive room with coloured floor mats that criss crossed the marble floor, and on every side wall there was armaments from across each and every kingdom. A sample selection of the very weapons used by each creed of Sin. There was also suits of armor and mock battlements set up for practice runs. It was a very odd set up for an indoor arena. Which is exactly what it was.

The doors were closed behind them and this was when Valmont turned to Ruby.

“Show me your sword, and just how you wield it.”

She may not be able to have the gift of speech, but he wanted to see just what kind of warrior lay beneath the ruby coloured hood.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby was glad that the others were gone, it made her feel more comfortable to deal with just one person rather than a group. Even since they expressed themselves to one another, not even a day ago, Ruby had gotten very comfortable with Valmont. He understood her in a way others wouldn’t try, or couldn’t. He gave her a place to stay, and a good sense of companionship. The two guardians gave her no trouble, and she had hoped not either. Ruby looked around the new room they were in. She had never been in a training room before, and knowing that they’d be alone, she let down her hood to once again show her face. She looked a bit amazed, but not as overjoyed as once would suspect.

She looked at Valmont, who now addressed to her and her weapon. He called it a sword, but it wasn’t really a sword. Ruby knew what it was, and she wouldn’t be able to say what it actually was. Still, in Ruby’s world, seeing was much easier than talking about it. She pulled it out and with a flick of her wrist, it popped open in it’s full length. Her scythe was taller than her, almost twice as tall, but she seemed to wield it with ease. She looked at Valmont and put it to her side, standing up, wondering what he wanted her to do next.

Razorbackwriter:  The weapon that Ruby unsheathed was larger than when he remembered seeing it up at the Isolated cliff. Interesting that this was the choice of weapon for a petite girl in a hood. Not one that those she faced would expect either. He remembered that she drew on it when she was afraid, or intimidated. This left the Ambassador to wonder if she used it out of a love for the weapon, or solely as a source of defense. Ruby had drawn her hood back as well, when she was in Valmont’s company. Again observations about this girl were starting to paint a picture of one that was both insecure and afraid in this place – Hell. Someone went to a lot of trouble to stitch up her mouth and then leave her here.

The girl handled the scythe with relative ease, considering its size and presumed weight. She had a natural and fluid ability to wield it as though she was incredible experienced in its used. A scythe is more commonly owned by a reaper, or at least that is what Valmont had thought before now. But Ruby wasn’t a reaper of souls? Was she?

“Very impressive, I must say.” The Ambassador gave her an encouraging smile to see how well she handled the long scythe. He had no intention of trying to disarm her, or cause her reason to take fright. Valmont had been careful as not to be impulsive or reactionary. There was simply no need. Too much too soon might be detrimental to their very new friendship.

“I can now see that you are more than capable of using it. Though the physics are astounding considering its size.” By this he meant that it was almost twice her height and yet she moved it effortlessly. “Thank you for showing me Ruby.”The training room was probably the best open area in which to have a demonstration of her weapon safely. The Ambassador then explained more about the room. “Here, we have all the different types of weapons commonly used by the different Kingdoms of Hell. Each donated by the reigning monarch of the time. Fascinating, if you like museum pieces.” What the Ambassador meant by this was that few if any of them were used. It was more for studying and understanding how each kingdom went about warfare, which was common place.

Remembering the chalk board and the chalk that Nicholas had acquired, Valmont took them out and then he wrote a simple letter V on the chalk board. V standing for Valmont. It was written in a cursive style and the Ambassador showed the board to Ruby. He was hopeful that the girl might understand. This being the first opportunity he had to try and teach her.

“This is the letter V.” He then pointed to himself and said his name. “Valmont.” Once again he pointed at the chalk board and back to himself. “V.” He took out a small cloth and erased the V, replacing it with an R. Valmont turned the board towards Ruby and said. “This…is an R. R…for Ruby.”

The Ambassador offered the board and chalk to Ruby as a gift.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby felt a bit of happiness and warm in her cold body when Valmont gave her that genuine smile, she even grew a bit transparent by that. It had been awhile since she’s gone transparent, but so far nothing happened yet. She kept it out until Valmont thanked her for the demonstration. She put it away just as effectively as she had taken it out, focusing back on Valmont who was giving her a bit of a history lesson on the weapons in the room. This was an entire different culture she was not exposed to. Throughout her time here in Hell, Ruby only knew a few things; death, blood and loneliness. She was a killer, after all, so there was no time for friends. Before now, Ruby didn’t care about anything besides what she already knew. Now, with Valmont’s kindness, she became more open and especially with Valmont, more than with anyone else. Ruby was right behind Valmont, watching him explain about the weapons.

The subject now turned to the chalkboard and chalk, which was given to Valmont by Nicholas. This was the thing used for this “communication” that seemed absolutely necessary. She didn’t know why it was that way, but if that was part of Valmont’s world then she might as well get used to it. She stared at the board, seeing the smooth movements of the chalk running along the blank space. It amazed her, and after Valmont was done, she took it with the up-most quickness and started out trying to do what he did. It seemed the board and chalk too all her attention.

Razorbackwriter:  Valmont was more than just curious to see how Ruby took to writing on the chalk board. He wanted to see how she held the chalk between her fingers, the way she poised the tip before starting to make sweeping strokes. The ambassador was of course rewarded almost immediately, when Ruby took to the first attempt with a flourish that had him smiling effortlessly. The girl had taken to the task so well that all her attention was now focused on the small chalk board and the way she used the chalk to make lettering like Valmont had done.

“You are a natural, Ruby.”

The Ambassador brought his hands together before him, interlocking his gloved fingers as he watched her with a growing enthusiasm. He had never envisioned himself as any sort of teacher before, but then again he had not been challenged to teach a girl to communicate. Though in a way, they already had a bond that was beyond the need for speech. Valmont was finding himself more and more at ease with the girl, and not in the least bit acting out in his nature. It was something of a relief. Unusual though.

Ruby may well wonder why writing was considered such an important form of communication. Valmont saw it as more than just communicating however. It was a way in which many were able to learn about the past, their histories as so written by scholar and men of great learning. From the simplest of drawings on rock walls, to the many tomes that filled the great libraries, it was an integral part of civilization.

The ambassador would wait silently for Ruby to finish with her chalk board, before deciding to extend the tour to the great library of the Embassy. It was a place that held thousands upon thousands of books. The answers to many a question lay within the walls and naturally it was a place that Valmont frequented when he had the chance. Now he had another reason to go there. In a way this was a manner of sharing himself with the hooded girl. Spending this quality time and embarking on a friendship that he hadn’t realized up till this point that he actually needed. He felt a closeness to Ruby that was hard to describe.

“Would you like to see where the books are kept?” He asked, knowing that the training room would be boring to her now.

~RB~

Zu:  Ruby didn’t write the typical way, but instead used her whole hand to move the chalk. It would be a long while before she could actually use it the way others did. Ruby did try doing it like Valmont, only for the chalk to slip out of her hands. She picked it up quickly, before it even had a chance to fall to the ground. She may not have been a writer, but being a warrior until now, she had the reactions of one. She “gave up”, in the sense that she’d try again later when she was away from Valmont, which probably wouldn’t be likely as she would most likely stay by his side the entire time. When asked to see some books, Ruby just agreed with a nod of her head. Ruby put the chalk in it’s proper place, and the board around her neck as they continued through the Embassy.

Ruby was brought to a place where books rested until it was their time to be used. Ruby looked a bit anxious when seeing the monstrous amount of books in one place. She’s seen something like this before, but not to this degree. Words were in these, just like on the chalkboard. Ruby wondered, would she be able to write books for Valmont? In less than a day, Ruby was doing and thinking things that never crossed her mind; Ruby never saw herself as more than what she was before her meeting with Valmont. A tool only to be used for killing, now brought into another world.

Razorbackwriter:  The library was a darkened hall that had all the curtains drawn and the shutters over the windows. No natural light was allowed in, and the only illumination came from either lit candles or small reading lamps that could be found on tables that dotted the interior. The surrounding walls were filled with books, and the way to reach many was to scale ladders that ran along on coasters at the bottom. Fed into tracks, they could go as far as ten metres, before you would need to scale another ladder.

Valmont walked along now with his gloved hands behind his back – the back of his right hand slapping the left in a fluid motion. His body was fairly rigid and he had an air about him. It was natural to him, as he thought that slouching was a form of being lazy in one’s self. When he regarded Ruby once again, he noted a look on her face that showed anxiety. Was the library too much for her? Or did she think that the ambassador was going to try and get her to write great novels, after only just giving her a board and chalk just a short time before. Valmont acted quickly to allay her fears.

“Ruby, fear not. This is just a place that I enjoy a quiet moment, to reflect and also to learn. I wouldn’t try to get you to write long stories like the ones in the books.”

He had hoped that his explanation would suffice and that she could go back to being relaxed in his company. They truly were very different, and Valmont was doing his utmost to ensure that he did not upset the girl. This in itself was unusual, since he was having to suppress his own natural feelings and urges. Valmont had managed it when he had to meet with female royals before. But this was different. The ambassador felt this overwhelming sense of responsibility for the girl’s well being. Almost father like with a child. It was all very new to him too.

Valmont stopped and thought for a moment. There was one place he could show her, that would give them a way to interact on a level that required no words at all.

“Have you ever danced?” Valmont was thinking of taking her into the grand ballroom, where parties were hosted for dignitaries. It was a short walk from the library.

~RB~

Zu:  She was told not to fear, and that she wouldn’t be writing much outside what was around her neck. This made her look comfortable, but she was actually a bit sad. It might have been a scary thought to Ruby, yet she would have loved to try it if it would please Valmont. If she could, Ruby would have the cutest smile on her face. Truly an innocent soul, despite her abnormalities and her current state in Hell as a killer. As they were speaking, Ruby saw herself becoming transparent when her hands went missing. Unlike many times before, this actually didn’t matter to her. Ruby’s focus was so much on Valmont, nothing else mattered at the moment. Ruby didn’t realize it yet, but she had developed the most intense relationship with Valmont. He was something Ruby couldn’t have, a friend. Someone who wouldn’t turn their back on her, someone who saw her as more than just a killer. It was the only thing Ruby ever wanted.

Valmont asked for this… dance. Ruby never heard of that, it must have been something only fancy people in Hell do. It did interest her, so with a nod of her head, she agreed and stood next to Valmont, following his lead. She began to become visible again, in her hands at least, as it was the only thing that turned transparent. She clung onto Valmont’s arm as they walked, her eyes showing her daydreaming on this… dance.

Razorbackwriter:  Down a long corridor that was just off the library, was the grand ballroom. This room was kept locked for most of the time as the hallowed hall was filled with treasured art and of course a massive chandelier. There were columns along the sides of the hall made from marble, that went all the way up to painted ceilings. Murals featured many of the previous Princes of Hell – a testimony to their leadership. The Ambassador paused a moment to take out a golden key and placed it into the lock, turning it so as to show Ruby the wonder of the ballroom.

Ruby’s easy acceptance to follow along gave Valmont hope that this was something she might like to enjoy. The doors swung open with ease, to give both the Ambassador a sight that would captivate. The ambassador looked down at Ruby, who was clutching his arm tightly. He couldn’t help but feel a touch of pride that he somehow had made her feel good about all this splendor.

A servant came in behind the pair, and bowed low.

“Shall I put on some music, Ambassador?’

“Yes, Gregory. If you would be so kind.”

The servant snapped his heels together and then strutted across the floor to where there was a beautiful phonograph. There was a stack of old records on a table beside it, and the servant carefully took one out of its sheath and placed it on the turn table. Lowering the stylus arm, after giving it a good crank, a soft waltz began to play. The sound was of course carried by the vast expanse of space within the hall. Valmont reached for Ruby’s hand and led her to the center of the room. Watching them, the servant took his cue to leave and this meant the Ambassador was alone with his charge.

“And this….is how we dance.”

Placing his right arm around her waist, Valmont took her right hand with his left, and then slowly began to make steps to lead her into a waltz. The music provided the perfect mood and tempo, and the Ambassador lifted his head back, speaking an incantation that had the chandelier erupt with a dazzling light. Around and around, the Ambassador would lead Ruby on this magical dance. If this had been the first time that she had experienced this, it may well give her a new found joy. The Ambassador was attentive to her needs, and he kept his eyes focused on hers as he danced her around the room.

Ruby – Part Four : SS.

Ruby was just getting used to Valmont’s company at the Embassy, but found the newer arrivals; the Ambassador’s staff – a bit much to handle.

Scene setting – The Embassy of Hell.

Co-written with Tsu, Zu and Kiri.

Tsu:  It was rather quiet for a moment, of course he knew why. Only two of them could speak right now and the other couldn’t, he wondered how life would be not being able to speak. It’ll surely be a burden or something tedious, though he already had something like that. He could probably somehow related and she didn’t know at least, hearing his words a small blush would come to his cheeks, only for a moment, vanishing shortly after. ” You’re right, I’ll make sure we get a board for her, it’ll be very convenient for the most part.” Nicholas watched Valmont go to the girl and kneel down to look at her, something forming in his stomach. Oh how he hated that feeling and ignored it, his eyes observing and also realizing the weapon she carried. Maybe she was a swordsman? or a warrior? You’d never know about somehow just by their looks and how they acted.

” Aa, I’ll go on ahead then, to prepare the stuff. I’ll make sure that everything is ready, if you both come.” With that said, he turned on his heels and walked away, a little quicker then he wanted too. Hopefully it would go unnoticed but, not a lot got passed Valmont. Walking back inside he shut the door with a click and let out a little sigh, this was rather annoying. Looking down at the ground he cursed himself and his genetics, maybe it could somehow be altered but, he didn’t know. Many thoughts swept through his mind on whether he wanted to actually be a full male or switch and be completely a female. Nicholas shook his head a bit and composed himself, standing up and walking he went on his marry way to do the preparations.

Zu:  Ruby was so amazing by something so simple as the cloth and what was on it. This was a once in a lifetime kind of thing, and she was playing with it to it’s fullest potential. Ruby heard someone near her, and turned to see it was Valmont, who was doing something odd; kneeling. She just looked at him for a bit then took his hand, getting off her chair and looking up at him with the most innocent look on her face. The kind of face that was lost in a dark place but was still optimistic about her surroundings. Ruby would do anything for this man, the one who paid attention to her and gave her a place to stay. Wherever they would go, Ruby get she’d enjoy it. That thought that passed her by earlier, it began to nag her again but she didn’t pay it any mind.

For some strange reason, the Ambassador had a way of getting through to Ruby. Looks could be deceiving but actions spoke louder than words ever could and Valmont was genuinely pleased that she accepted the offer to go inside the grand estate. The building itself was a monument to those that had served Hell and its seven Kingdoms since the dawn of time. All those that had been elected to act as the Devil’s advocate held that position with the knowledge that though they did not weld power like those of the Seven Princes of Sin, they were able to pass through each kingdom on the simple fact of the neutrality. Never siding with one Kingdom over the other. It was not his job to. When disagreements and wars broke out as they so commonly did, Valmont and his entourage would go from Kingdom to Kingdom and help seek to restore order and the status quo.

Two elegantly dressed footmen opened the grand doors to the entrance, where the pair would find themselves entering the foyer of the Embassy. Adorned on the walls, were the seven shields of sin. Each one representing the main Kingdoms. The Princes knew that they were welcomed as equals and that if there was a dispute, or a crime had been committed, Valmont would allow refuge to those that may be sought for execution, until such time that all legal processes were exhausted and the guilty was handed over for punishment. This meant that there were often many that came to the Embassy. Hat in hand and with a tale to tell. It never ended. For you see, each sin had its weakness. Just as they were powerful. Some were corrupt and could only think about bringing down others, or trying to bolster their own kingdoms with a take over.

In a special chamber off to the right of the foyer was the Thrones of the Seven. The meeting place of all the Princes, should they be so bold to actually stand being in the same room as the other. It was no secret there was no love lost between a few of them. Not to mention the fact that the last Prince of Envy was murdered, and the Prince of Greed….well, we all know what happened to him. That room was guarded by two fierce looking warriors that stood over seven feet in height and both wore armor that was to a specific guild with an unknown name.

To Ruby this may all look ostentatious and over the top. To outsiders they may well think the same, but the purpose of the Embassy was mainly to the Royals and their subjects. Essentially, the UN of Hell.

Knowing Nicholas had gone on ahead to fetch the string tied chalkboard for Ruby to use, to start her lessons in communication, this gave Valmont more time with the girl. It was not going to be easy to teach her speech, that was something the Ambassador was well aware of.

One servant girl, that had come from the Kingdom of Lust originally, stepped out of the shadows and simpered over to the Ambassador, flaunting her ample bosom practically in his face. The scent of her skin that had been bathed in exotic oils and it was indeed pleasant to the senses. For a moment Valmont forgot himself and closed his eyes just to savor the sweet smell.

“Is there anything you see that pleases you, Ambassador?” she asked with a wicked gleam in her eyes. The girl was indeed tempting to Valmont’s dark urges. He coughed as he brought out a hankerchief and fought back hard to maintain some dignity in front of Ruby.

“No…no, thank you. I err…am waiting on the secretary.” Who Valmont hoped would be soon. What would the hooded Ruby think of this. Hopefully she wouldn’t think that all women in the Embassy were so forward.

“Nicholas?!” Valmont sung out.

Zachary gave out a sigh, actually beginning to get aggravated by the paperwork that was swamping him. As the Chief Adviser of the “House of Thrones” he always had something he needed to do. It hadn’t been long ago that he’d felt a change in the more immediate levels of energy around the Embassy, in fact it seemed to him that Valmont had returned. Valmont was one of the few people who knew just what Zachary was, and also one of the few who was able to call him Zach. Zachary’s katana was lain against the wall behind him, mainly so that it wouldn’t be in the way while he was working and so that it wouldn’t be too far if he needed. Though the later was indeed unlikely. It was honestly the usual lately, complaints about land-disputes, lawsuits of all kinds. It was like the people expected this Embassy to do their jobs for them. It was exhausting. With an exasperated groan Zachary pushed his chair away from the desk and stood, picking up the katana and its case as he slung it over his shoulder. The case was more as a way to help control the feeling of intimidation caring around a sword all the time could cause. Zachary needed a break, and going outside was just the way to do it. The male got outside fairly quickly anyway, and made his decision to go up to Valmont himself. However, Zachary’s right eye twitched as he began to get close, noticing a servant being extremely . . . forward based on what Zachary could tell. In front of a guest no less. From what Zachary could recall, the young girl had come from the Kingdom of Lust. Why does this not surprise him. Though Valmont had called for Nicholas, Zachary was instead the one to answer, starting with the serving girl in a . . . less forward manner.

Zachary approached behind the girl, standing there silently a moment before speaking just loud enough that all three parties would hear, for it seemed that Valmont had a special guest. The serving girl jumped, noticeably so, from the sound of Zachary and spun as he did so. In his sweetest voice no less.

“My dear, Would you be so kind as to move along? If I can recall correctly, your work is not entirely finished.”

Of course, the young girl didn’t seem very flustered, but Zachary could sense the changes in a person’s energy, and that was enough for him to be able to tell he had embarrassed her. Good, perhaps it would teach her to have better control over herself. From here, Zachary looked down to Valmont and gave a bow of his head, both to the Ambassador and his Guest.

“Good evening, Lord Valmont, Lady..?”

Zachary had seen the stitches earlier, and therefore he tried to avoid being rude and asked Valmont the question instead. However there was a chance . . . that not even Valmont knew. Based on the energies he’d seen from the young girl, she definitely wasn’t normal – but then again he couldn’t say he was either. She found a lot of things to be new, at least from what he could see and feel. Whatever the case was, Zachary was interested in learning about this girl. And his eyes showed it.

Tsu:  Silently he moved around in his office, trying to find the items necessary. It’d be rather hard to teach, if he hadn’t found the board and stuff. It would of been easier if his body hadn’t been bothering him, slowly he stopped and set both his hands on his desk. Looking down at the floor, he let out a small sigh and breathed in and out. ” Stupid hormones, stupid body, hopefully it’ll settle down.” He said and knew that he was the only one in his office or around the area, he had nothing to worry about someone hearing. After a couple of minutes he came across the chalk board and chalk, lovely he thought. Picking it up and holding it, he composed himself once more and walked out of the room. A minute later he had bumped into a chef, as he smiled a bit. ” Please make sure lunch is started shortly, we have roughly.. 3, no.. 4 people including me here now.” He had said as the guy went on his way nodding, it would be good to relax and eat shortly after.

Nicholas?! Echoed through the halls as he knew it was Valmont, he had forgot about time. Rather quickly, he walked and it was faster then a human walk. Nicholas was of like a snake, fast on his feet and hearing, it really helped at times. Coming to a slow walk he realized that the presence he felt was Zachary, he had probably come back. Hearing him talk, he came up on the side and walked over to Valmont, handing the items. ” Sorry about the wait, I had to prepare some things in advance but, I bring the bored and chalk.” His eyes scanning over to Zachary. ” Hello Zachary. “ Nicholas said and let his eyes return to Ruby and Valmont, he made sure not to stare so long at some people, it’d make him paranoid that they somehow found out about him or were going to.

Zu:  It was amazing to Ruby of all the stuff that was owned exclusively by Valmont, it was nothing she’d ever think to see and be around at the same time. She’d take it all in, like a child going to the museum for the first time. Suddenly, a woman came to them and Ruby, while scared at the sudden interruption, according to her, she didn’t reach for her weapon. It seemed Ruby was getting slightly, yet slowly, more comfortable with her surroundings. She listened to the woman and turned to Valmont, who was acting wierd around her. Ruby didn’t realize what it was, but it might have been that Valmont smelled her, and thought it was a horrible smell: Ruby liked it.

It wasn’t until Zachary came so instantly that Ruby almost pulled out her scythe, he just came out of nowhere. She quickly turned her head to see, and seeing as he was friendly, just looked at him in the most innocent way possible. This whole time, she forgot to put her hood up and surprisingly enough, wasn’t thinking about it. So everyone would be able to see her faults. That didn’t last long though, as Nicholas came back too. So many people, all of whom worked for Valmont. Was Valmont trying to get Ruby to meet with everyone at once? It was all a bit much. She tugged on her sleeve, and looked at him with those eyes that said I wanna get outta here.

Razorbackwriter:  Valmont was indeed lucky at the quick thinking of his most trusted, Zachary. Noble and astute he arrived in the nick of time as the servant from the Lust Kingdom was trying it on, as only a creature from that domain would. Valmont’s face showed he was now more at ease, when the girl was given directives and more or less told to go on her way. If it was one thing that Valmont often had the urge to conquer it was women. Considering his current charge and the attentions she required, having a pretty distraction just wouldn’t do. With the maiden now off to complete her tasks, Zachary was able to do a more formal introduction.

“Good evening, Lord Valmont, Lady..?”

“Ah…Zachary, and a Good evening to you. This is Lady Ruby. We don’t know her true name but suffice to say, that the name Ruby seems fitting, and she doesn’t mind.”

It was then that Nicholas showed up, and with the requested items – the chalk board with string and the chalk. Both of which were to be very handy to help with the girl’s lessons in communication. Something she was not really able to do. Taking the board and chalk from Nicholas, Valmont thanked him with a warm smile. “Perfect timing, and no harm in the wait.”

Valmont was about to offer them to Ruby, when he felt the slight tug on his sleeve. Looking down to only see a slightly distressed look on Ruby’s face. Had something upset her, or was she intimidated by all the sudden attention. He did recall that she looked so lost and alone at the Isolated cliff face, and it took a bit to get her trust. Now, he gathered that this was all too much at once for the girl to handle.

Offering Nicholas and Zachary a firm nod each, he then made a suggestion that might calm the situation.

“I’m going to take Lady Ruby for a small tour of the training room. May I suggest gentlemen that you work on a list for an upcoming meeting of the Heads of the Kingdoms. I dare say that there is going to be some dramas after all that has gone on after the Greed ball. Official notices to all Princes…and er…Princesses to attend. Say…a Saturday.”

Having given instructions, Valmont offered his arm to Ruby to take her on a walk to the training room – that was equipped with the very best and latest in sword fighting equipment and armor.

Kiri: Zachary nodded at Valmont with a smile, he could understand that Ruby was overwhelmed. Based on her energy signature at the moment, that was pretty obvious for the male. Instead of offering to help in a different way, he instead went with Valmont’s suggestion. It wasn’t a bad idea anyway, hopefully they could avoid another war. Though he highly doubted that much at all. The ball hadn’t gone very well from what he heard, and that meant things could go badly in terms of connections between all the princes and princesses. In all honesty, Zachary preferred that the peace stayed sound, no matter how tense. But, you couldn’t always have your way. That was the sad truth of the world.

“Of course Lord Valmont. Lady Ruby, I do hope you do enjoy your stay. Good morning Nicholas. Shall we?”

Zachary turned around on his heel, walking back towards the embassy once more, hopefully with Nicholas on his heels. The young serpent seemed to have something troubling him, and though Nicholas didn’t know it, Zachary could tell because of his ability to see and sense different kinds of energy. Zachary kept his race hidden from most, and one of the few exceptions was Valmont. Nicholas was not one of those however. Not yet anyway. That could change. Zachary didn’t waste time to go back to his study, mainly to begin drawing up the paperwork to start sending off the letters. This was going to take time, and he’d need the help of Nicholas.

“Since this will take some time, Nicholas. Would you mind helping me?”

They were close to Zachary’s study now, so it was up to Nicholas if he would help or not. Not that it’d be of any harmful consequence should he not.

Tsu:  Nicholas had gave a smile back as he took the bored. He could easily see distress from Ruby and knew why. Of course he too would be overwhelmed if he started meeting a bunch of new people all at the same time. Hearing Valmont talk about going to the training the training room, he smiled a bit. ” Aa, everything is set in their by the way.” He called after as Valmont and Ruby left him and Zachary. He was still nervous, their were things he didn’t know about people and something seemed slightly off about him but, he wouldn’t push. ” Good morning to you too Zachary.”

Seeing him walk, he followed after him staring at his back. What was he? That pondered if mind a bit but, shrugged the thought off. Nicholas wasn’t exactly close with all the staff members but, he knew all of them since he did live here and we’ll, part of his job was to know them. A small sigh slipped from his lips as he heard Zachary talking to him and looked at him. ” Of course, I’d love to help. Plus, Valmont asked us both so.. I’ll help regardless. “ He said with a smile and relaxed himself a bit, he needed to calm down, nothing was going to be found out and with that thought he relaxed completely.
