The Maze of Greed – Part Sixteen : SS.

“You had the power…you had it all along….you just needed to believe in yourself.” : Habib.

Scene setting: The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy, Artie and Phyln.

Dessy:  Tessa heard Bandit mumble the words “fucking great”, but she didn’t say anything on the matter. She was pretty sure that she was the only one to have heard it, so she never said anything. But then all of them got distracted by the maze disappearing. They all seemed to have the exact same reaction… wondering what the fuck was going on. Tessa looked down, feeling the blood drip down her hand to see the pool of blood starting to form. “Shit.” she mumbled. They didn’t have much time left… and where the hell was Mariela?

“I’M NOT THE ONE DOING THIS!”

Raul roared, before sending the four women… girls… whatever they were… away. All of a sudden, a winged creature appeared in front of them, causing Tessa to widen her eyes and take a few steps back. He began speaking, and mentioned about the Princess of Greed being… dead? So, Mariela did it. She killed her. Honestly, this caused shocked expressions to appear on Tessa and the brothers faces. “She killed Lydia?” Tessa asked out loud, shocked. “I can’t believe it. She actually did it.”

He walked towards the boys, telling them to step aside, and they did. They then turned around to watch him walk towards Tessa. He bowed, before mentioning about how he could save Bandit. Tessa opened her mouth to speak, but Raul was already yelling about “Bandit was his”. Tessa stared at Raul, while slowly handing Bandit over to this winged creature. Raul then threatened to never let Mariela see Scar again, and then not being able to send Tessa and the boys back. He began yelling to Mariela, and Tessa closed her eyes, in hopes that her dear friend could indeed save the maze.

Mariela had a panicked expression. The maze, and the Giant, were all disappearing in front of her, and she had no idea what to do. “Shit, shit, shit.” she cursed in a panic, turning to look all around her.

“YOU ARE THE POWER, MARIELA!!!…….YOU HAD IT ALL ALONG!!!. YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE!!! REPAIR THE BROKEN MIRROR WITH THE SHARD!!!….BRING THE MAZE BACK!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!”

Who the hell was that? And what did he mean “she was the chosen one”? Mariela didn’t understand. She was under so much pressure, trying to save everyone and everything. Chosen one? Why was she the chosen one? How did she “have the power”? She sat here thinking about all of this, and also running out of the time.

She turned around, running back in the direction of the broken mirror. She stopped and stared at it, looking down at the shard in her hand. “How the fuck am I supposed to do this?” she mumbled, before getting down on her knees in front of the shard. She looked down at the shard again, before moving to place it by her side. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this… But it’s worth a shot.” she spoke. She held her hand over the pieces of the shattered mirror, the pieces falling back into place. Now, she needed to just take the shard and place it into the only open spot. Right? She hoped that was right. She picked up the shard… the blood now dried in place… before pressing it in place, like she was placing the last puzzle piece in a puzzle.

Artie:  Bandit’s eyes had widened at the appearance of the angel-like male, larger than ever before. Her whole body had begun to feel numb, her breathing somewhat labored now. Oh god, was this how she was going to die.. Again? As she was cradled in the arms of the male, her body felt oddly warm… Though, a blinding white had begun to intrude on the edges of her sight, her lips parting as her eyes fluttered. It became hard to gaze around, her head becoming terribly dizzy as she felt a terrible surge of nausea… And then the sounds around her became muffled, as though she was underwater in a pool and listening to everyone talk. Not even Habib’s words were completely legible, despite how he would roar them..

Clang!

The dagger once in her hand fell to the ground as Bandit went limp, her head tilting back over Habib’s arm. Her hand hung over his forearm, her hand dangling with her wrist bent towards the ground and the fingers splayed as her grip on the dagger was lost completely. Bandit’s eyes were closed and she seemed still, despite her soft breathing. This was the only indication that she was alive, as her skin had begun to pale. Habib could feel the thick wetness of her blood on his hands. In the short time she had been held by him, her blood had already been spilt enough to drip onto the ground below her. She had succumbed to the tempting feeling of unconsciousness…

Bandit was going to die.

Greed : The Masquerade Ball – Maze

~Broken fragments~

It was a nightmare. People calling to the witch, begging for help and then those that roared from across the field where the maze was now flickering in and out that the witch had the power to save them all. The poor girl must have felt like her head was about to spin off her shoulders. Who to save first? Where to turn? How to use her magical powers to set things right again. The giant was now looking like a ghost as his form was fading more and more. One of his legs disappeared from view and the bulk of him crashed to the ground as though he was being wiped out of existence. The Scotsman tried to speak but now his voice was practically a whisper. Gone were the big booming vocals that they had all been used too. The very threads of magic that held everything together were snapping one by one like guitar strings. With only a few remaining as the wave of panic had hit the little witch. In her hand was the blooded shard, the final piece of the broken mirror puzzle. In that shard, you could see the eyes of the Alp – staring at her with a look of sorrow. He couldn’t hear what was happening, but had almost given up all hope.

“How the fuck am I supposed to do this?”

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3ffk9dqWauE/VFsy0XEPSdI/AAAAAAAAT3I/-t2Bs5nV2yo/w506-h750/f38e8e03.gif

“Believe in yourself.” A ghostly voice whispered in her ear. A voice that she had not heard in the longest time. It was the voice of her Mother. Somehow, in another world she still had that loving connection that one does with the spirit world. In Bandit’s heart she would be able to feel the power of love that was now being sent through via this one connection that held firm

“Your greatest power…is the power of love.”

As Mariela swept her hand across the many shattered fragments that were strewn across the ground, they all began to shimmer and rise slowly into the air. Pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that were the mirror – the enchanted mirror. A strange pinky like aura swept all the pieces together and one by one they began to fuse as the mirror itself solidified and was becoming whole. The frame like a golden halo was being recreated in a blaze of fire and sparks as the magic became stronger and stronger. It was Mariela’s love that was the greatest power in all of Hell – something that Lydia never had, nor could possibly understand. With the final piece of the puzzle in her hand, she was able to place it into the middle of the mirror…..

A glowing radiated as the piece fell into place, and the roar of power continued to spread as if by magic, the entire maze came back greater than before. Green and lush, but instead of the dark thorns, radiant flowers came to grow in the darkest parts. Beautiful statues, and gushing water fountains were springing up as the Giant was picked up by this same magical aura and his leg popped back into being.

“You’re doing it, little witch!” The giant roared with a happy laugh that sounded out all the way to where the rest of the party were standing. It was the most beautiful thing to see in the gardens of Envy. The evil of Lydia washing away and being replaced by the balance that was the Witch. Did she truly deserve to be the Princess of Envy? No….she deserved to be something much greater than that. She had sinned, yes…..but all for love.

As the Giant landed on the ground with a thud, he stared forward and then trudged over to the Witch to pick her up in a sweeping hug and turned her around. “You did it!” then he looked over her shoulder and roared “LOOK!”

Inside the mirror, the Queen of Hearts was twisting and contorting, as the opposite of Lydia was now feeling the death of her counterpart. It was destroying the magic bond that she had and now that meant that the one that had been pulled into the mirror, could be freed. The alp’s head, which had been cut off by the Executioner’s axe rolled around and then sailed back up and locked back onto Scar’s neck. Twisting till the face came back around to face the view on the outside of Wonderland. Scar snatched up his hat and then placed it snugly upon his head. He could see his beloved Mariela, and with one last wink at the dying Queen, he stepped out of the mirror – and back into the maze of Greed.

“I’m back? I’m BACK!” Scar danced about all excited. “I have my head….and my hat…and…” he looked to Mariela and bowed low. “My Princess.”

Yes, it was a time of celebration – but on the other side of the maze, someone was dying.

Habib looked down, seeing the dagger fall from Bandit’s hand, and feeling her body slacking.

“No! Bandit…wake up!” Habib patted her face twice, before looking up at Raul. The Warlock was just as shocked at Habib was. For all the evil that he was, he didn’t want her to die. Forgetting himself, he moved to Habib’s side and waved his hand over the wounds that had caused her to bleed out. His hand tremored and shook as you could see he was trying to use his magic to seal her wounds closed…..but it wasn’t working. “Why isn’t it working?!” The Warlock had never had this experience before. He was gritting his teeth and doing his darnedest to make the bleeding stop.

“Because it was your poisoned soul that did this! You fool. You damned fool.”

“I love her! I always loved her!” The Warlock was now frantic as he racked his brain on how to help her.

https://i2.wp.com/media2.giphy.com/media/M1mWsuwxHJgYg/200_s.gif

“You have a sick way of showing it, Raul. We need to get her to the witch.” Habib gestured to the others, as the maze started to open to lead the group to Mariela and Scar.

~RB~

Phyln:  Walking through the corridors of the maze Solomon was slightly surprised as it began to fade away. Ceasing his march he gazed around as the old walls of the hedges flickered Something had happened though he was unsure what but whatever had created this maze no longer had a hold over it, This was a rare occurrence that he had seen something of this scale exist solely through magic, this did however create an eagerness within him to find what he came for. Through the mild transparency he was able to catch a glimpse of his goal the force that drew him here, the death of a powerful being. Quickly approaching the corner he peered through at where Lydia had fallen, the power was still strong so her soul remained intact for him to gather. He contemplated trying to walk through the walls now that they were only partially in this world however saw too many possibilities for a negative out come from that. however being able to clearly see his goal he no longer needed to rely on it pull alone and was able to make work of the maze.

Finally reaching Lydia’s corpse, or at least what was left of it he began his assessment. Closing his eyes he began to feel around the ethereal for the spirit, his eyes snapping open as he found it. The soul of a prince of hell, this was a very rare and very powerful specimen and even more so than finding one he was surprised that someone had managed to kill her. he contemplated going to collect their soul too but that would be a task for later for now he needed this one. no ordinary vessel would hold the power of one of the rulers of hell it would simply burst and leave nothing behind, digging deep into the pockets of his coat he produced a small blue silk bag, adorned with beads, charms, and patterns stitched in gold thread. Not wanting to risk losing it by storing it in a weaker container his decision would be to use his best and hope he would not come across a stronger one. Closing his eyes again he now went after the soul with the intention of collecting it.

Dessy:  Tessa’s eyes widened in panic as Bandit’s eyes started to close, the dagger falling out of her hand. The brothers turned to glare at Raul, Sean speaking up after he voiced his panic. “Your magic isn’t going to work to heal her.” Sean spoke. “A tainted and evil soul can’t heal someone who’s as bad as her, especially since you were the one who caused this.” he then spoke, receiving a nod from Tessa.

“He’s right. Our sister’s magic is the only way you will be able to save Bandit.” Sam spoke. “Guys, look!” Tessa then spoke, pointing to the maze as it rebuilt itself. But this time, it had water fountains, and flowers, and it had actual beauty that it didn’t have before. “Marie saved the maze.” she then spoke, before running in the direction the maze opened to. She gestured for the others to follow, before following the sound of the Giant’s voice. “Mariela! Bandit needs you! Now!” she called out.

——–

Mariela had heard the voice, and a shocked gasp came from her mouth when she recognized it as her mother’s. Sure enough, the pieces rose into the air and fit back into place like a jigsaw puzzle. Then she placed the final piece into the middle of the mirror, after watching the frame build itself back up.

Mariela would’ve never guessed her love was the secret all along. But it made more sense now. Her kindness, her heart, her love for every living thing. The love she felt for people close to her – it all made sense now. She stood up, turning as she watched the maze rebuild itself. A smile slowly apepared on her face as she saw the flowers, and the lush green, and the waterfalls. It was working.

https://i0.wp.com/cdn4.teen.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/candice-accola-smiling.gif

She let out a laugh at the Giant’s voice, turning to face him as he, too, came back. She turned her head to continue watching the maze, before she was all of a sudden picked up by the Giant. “Woah!” she exclaimed, before laughing as she was spun around. After she was placed on the ground, she turned to look at where the Giant was looking at. She watched as the Queen of Hearts began dying, then watched as Scar’s head seemed to place itself back on his body, before he stepped out.

She watched Scar dance around, laughing as she did so. He then turned around to face her, bowing, and Mariela curtsied. “Hi, Scar.” she said with a smile. She didn’t say anything on his “my” comment this time. Not a single thing. She knew he said it… she just didn’t say anything. Before she could do or say anything else, she heard Tessa calling out to her. “Celebrate later. Bandit needs help.” she spoke, before turning around. “Come on!” she called to the giant and Scar, before running in the direction of Tessa’s voice.

Mariela stopped as they met up, immediately looking at Bandit. “Oh, god.” she started, before running towards the winged creature that carried her. “Let me see her. Quickly.” she spoke, holding her arms out to take Bandit from him.

Greed : The Masquerade Ball – Maze

Existing yet not. Caught between dimensions but able to see what is happening about her. It was a true nightmare. All her plans lay in waste and now the Witch was making the maze even more beautiful and lush than it was under Lydia’s control. Sweeping sad eyes could see the beauty, and she hated it. Hearing those that the witch loved returned to her as the mirror was fixed. The Death of the Queen of hearts in the world of Wonderland, meant that her hold there had gone. The maze’s resurrection was the true sign of her lost of power in this realm. What would happen to her now? Did the Devil laugh at this pathetic woman’s soul?

But little did she know that there was one moving through the maze, that had foreseen her demise and now was coming to collect the pieces. Pieces that were strewn about, but the one piece that was most vital to him. Her very ethereal spirit. Whether she realized it or not, that contained a great deal of power, but she simply could not use it, since her vessel was currently strewn about like a large tub of green goo.

Lydia had to turn away from the scene going on just a few metres away. They could not hear her, nor see her falling tears. But it was then she saw him The one that had come to collect. He was carrying a small blue silk bag, adorned with beads, charms, and patterns stitched in gold thread. Lydia watched him closely. He was not part of the Wtich’s party. She suddenly felt this strange sensation, that was like pulling on her very essence. Silently she started to scream as she was being sucked into the bag.

Scar and Mariela both ran for the spot where Habib was holding Bandit. Raul was not far in behind, but the look of devastation was clear as day. Scar snarled angrily when confronting the warlock again. If it weren’t for the fact that Mariela was so to the man holding Bandit, the Alp would have leaped past and tried to throttle the warlock for all he had done to them. Instead, they merely exchanged foul looks, while Habib was offering Bandit’s limp body to the young witch.

“She’s heavy like this.” Stating the obvious. He knew the witch’s strength lay in her powers, not so much physical. With Bandit having bled out, and Raul not being able to seal the wound due to his poisoned magic, she needed healing from one that had the human touch. For Habib to take Bandit to a place where he knew she could be healed, they may well be no coming back. The doorway to his world was fast closing. It was the way of magic. It always came at a price.

Raul came up alongside Habib, and though the two hated each other, the winged one did not protest. It was pretty clear that Raul’s feelings for Bandit, though twisted were true.

“I can’t fix her. Please…I beg you.” There were tears in Raul’s eyes as he cast his gaze over the dying Bandit. “I gladly give my life for hers.”

That was bound to bring a shocked gasp from those around, who had seen him at his worst. Scar snarled and then reached through to slam his hand around Raul’s throat. “You try anything….and I so swear, I will end you here!” Scar didn’t trust the warlock, even now.

The Maze of Greed – Part Fifteen : SS.

One thing was for certain.  A reaper had come for the souls of those that were dying in the maze.  Question was, how many souls would he collect?

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed

Co-written with Dessy, Artie and Phyln.

Dessy:  Lydia was a fool. An ambitious, greedy fool. Sure, she may have been the Princess of Greed, but it was becoming too greedy that caused her death. Just like Mammon’s. Lydia was the Demon of Ambition, and her own ambition and Greed caused her demise. She also had a bad habit of underestimating people, like she did with Mariela. She underestimated the young witch, and Mariela just proved that she was much greater than Lydia thought.

The shocked expression on Lydia’s face caused the young witch to smile. Blood poured out from the wound, onto the shard itself and onto Mariela’s hands. Once she had pulled the shard out, Mariela spoke nothing as she stared at Lydia as she spoke. Mariela continued eyeing her down, watching with triumph and satisfaction as the Princess of Greed died in front of her. She spoke of how Mariela belonged in hell, but the witch still said nothing. That may be true… but Mariela has accepted her fate. It’s time Lydia did the same.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0gjixZMlM1r9mt7oo1_250.gif

“I will rule this kingdom like it deserves to be ruled.” Mariela spoke, before Lydia exploded into green slime that covered the maze walls, and got all over her own dress. She continued holding the shard of glass dripping in blood, her own hands covered in blood as she turned to Duggie, who was wiping some off of the green slime off of his face.

“I’m sorry you had to see that. But it needed to be done.” she spoke when she had walked up towards Duggie. “Our next priorty is to find Raul, my brothers and the girls.” she spoke, walking in the direction they ran off to. She knew where they were. She followed their energy. She didn’t notice Scar’s face in the broken glass shards from the mirror. Instead, she walked through the maze, the Giant following behind her.

———

Meanwhile, in another part of the maze, Tessa and Bandit had ran into a dead end. “Dammit!” Tessa cursed, turning around to try and find a path they haven’t already went to. “I hate mazes.” she spoke. She stopped when she heard a familiar voice calling to her, and she turned to see the brothers.

“Tess!” Sam called as him and his brother caught up with the girls. “Sean! Sam! What are you doing here?” Tessa called.”Raul is after you guys. He’s trying to find Bandit. Marie sent us after you in hopes we got to you guys before he did.” Sam spoke. “And where is Marie?” the brunette haired girl asked.

“She stayed behind with Lydia. She said she’d find us later.” Sean spoke up, causing a horrified look to appear on Tessa’s face. “You left her alone with Lydia?! She’s going to get herself killed!” Tessa panicked. What none of them knew, was that Mariela was indeed alive. And different… in more ways than imaginable. “She’ll be fine, I’m sure. Now we don’t have much time. Raul is after you and we have to move! Now!” Sean said, beginning to pull Tessa to follow Sam, who had already ran ahead. Eventually, the four of them were running through another part of the maze, hoping to either run into a way out or run into Mariela. Anything but Raul.

Artie:  Bandit cursed softly under her breath when Tessa and Bandit ran into a dead end, her teeth baring in frustration. “No kidding. I’m never going to even do one as a brain teaser ever again.” Though she would turn around, gazing at the voice calling a girl’s name – oh. The girl carrying her. Not as if Bandit ever got a formal introduction to any of them. “Oh, fantastic.” The words dripped with sarcasm at the mention of Raul. She would suck in her bottom lip and begin biting it, but only for a moment. “Lydia against Mariela?” There was no doubt in Bandit’s mind that Mariela wasn’t alive, if this Lydia was half as bad as everyone claimed her to be.

“Oh, more running. Yay.” Bandit winced, as they began moving once more. The jostles and bumps brought twinges of pain up and down her legs, her eyes closing with each cringe. “Eek. Ow. Ooh.” Another wince. “Son of a bitch.” She sighed softly, attempting to absorb some of the pain in her legs. Bandit kept her arms firmly around Tessa’s neck, though ached to rub her legs to relieve some of the intense and building pain. The slashes in them were beginning to open up again, blood leaking from her and back onto her clothing, through the dried bits to become wet once more. Tessa would surely begin to notice the wetness on her hands, and if she looked, they would be stained dark red.

“S-sorry..” Was all that the blonde could manage, speaking through the intensified pain. For once, she felt powerless as the reality crashed down on her. If push came to shove.. she was worthless. This thought, and this alone, scared her more than Raul ever could.

Phyln:  Content to have been ignored as the events of the maze persisted around him Solomon found his way to the bodies of the fallen hounds. Kneeling gently beside the first he pulled a small vial from his belt, upon uncorking it the body of the hound he knelt by began to shimmer with a black haze. As the whole corpse dissolved into the new essence it was quickly scooped up into the vial. Placing the cork back in the solid body of the hound formed again at his feet though different this time. Despite being a corpse it now seemed even more cold and lifeless as its original colors faded and gave way to greys. This was the same creature but now lacking any evidence of ever having life within it. He continued this process for the remaining bodies using a different vial each time.

Sliding the last vial back into his belt he felt a great tug from somewhere else within the maze. Standing and righting his cane on the ground he straitened his jacket and headed off, his free hand on the wall as he allowed the pull of the powerful life force that had perished lead him to the center of the maze.

The Maze of Greed

~I blame you for the moonlit sky and the dream that died……..~

What a shock it was for a being such as Lydia to suddenly find herself standing in the same place, but all was black and white. Her fallen body was laying upon the ground in pieces…..green gloops of goo. Nothing of her was now recognizable and the spirit like Lydia opened her mouth to scream but no one was there to hear her. Lydia reached up to touch her face, and sure enough it was as she was before she had even become the Princess of Greed. She was just the Demon of Ambition in her true form – but a ghost.

https://i2.wp.com/25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcckwkkcGN1qbrs65o6_r4_250.gif

“I’m dead?” There was a pitiful sound as she started to realize that all her dreams had just died along with her. Lydia tried to touch the maze wall and her hand simply moved straight through, without even causing a rustling in the leaves. “I can’t be dead. i can’t!” She started to wring her hands, looking for Raul. Where was he in her maze? Following that cripple? How could he leave her in her moment of what was supposed to be her triumph?

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” She screamed out again to nothing and no one….

Raul could not hear Lydia’s screams. How could he? It was not like he could hear the wail of a ghost. The warlock had no idea that the Princess of Greed had fallen at the hands of the young witch. Raul had bigger fish to fry. He wanted his girl back. Bandit, belonged to him -whether she understood that or not. Running now through the winding maze, he did begin to pick up the sound of voices up ahead.

“She’ll be fine, I’m sure. Now we don’t have much time. Raul is after you and we have to move! Now!”

It was one of the boys that had been with the witch. Aha. He heard the boy mention his name, which meant that the four of them were now working together to make their escape. But Raul was one tricky bastard. Stopping only for a moment he withdrew his lucky deck of cards and shuffled them wildly, before blowing on the deck. One, two, three….four queens of the deck spirited out of the cards and all appeared before their Master, one for each house. Spades, diamonds, Hearts and of course Clubs.

“Yes, Master?” They all chorused as they pawed and cooed at him with a haunting affection.

https://i2.wp.com/www.underthegunreview.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/van2.jpg

“Find the boys and the human girl that has my Bandit!” Raul snarled at them all as he threw his hand in the direction in which the four went. Without waiting for a second command, each of the Queens hurried off like streaks of coloured light, laughing and cackling as they went. Darting through the maze at astonishing speed. Raul then turned around as he knew that Mariela might be on her way. Had she defeated the Princess of Greed?

Further up the track, Douglas was following along behind Mariela. How incredible it was that she had changed so much when rising to the task of fighting Lydia. It was almost like the girl had somehow changed. Douglas coughed as he trudged along.

“I’m sorry about the mirror, lassie” He truly was, and he happened to look down at the piece of shard that Mariela held in her hand and the Giant could have sworn he saw a reflection of a pair of eyes in the glass.

“Err…..little witch, how did you make the face in the shard?”

If she bothered to look, she would see Scar’s eyes staring at her sadly.

Up ahead the four Queens of Raul all caught up with the two boys, Tessa and Bandit as they tried to get away. Dashing in front of them, two of the Queens landed and then bared horribly fang like teeth at the four. Two stayed in back as they all raised their arms and started to chant loudly. Their chorus could be heard throughout the maze itself, and this was what finally brought Raul around the corner.

https://i2.wp.com/media.tumblr.com/7fdef5f5c8900b152455c3a72ab369cf/tumblr_inline_n7ekk2TZ3b1sxbxz3.gif

“Well well well. Looks like you couldn’t find your way out, huh?” Raul had a smug expression, that was until the actual maze itself started to change….it was de-materializing right in front of their eyes. Lydia had brought it over from the Fallen mansion, and had used her magic to do it. With it now gone from her control, the maze was going back to where it truly belonged.

A few hundred metres away, Douglas was starting to go transparent.

“Little witch! Help me!”

~RB~

Dessy:  When they had stopped moving, Tessa couldn’t help but laugh at Bandit’s joke about the maze. Then the brothers had shown up, and Tessa had turned around. Hearing the words from Bandit’s mouth drip with sarcasm, Tessa looked down. “Don’t worry. We won’t let him have you.” she had spoke, before the three began running again. Tessa felt the wetness of her hands, and the entire time she heard Bandit’s words of pain. But they had to keep running.

“No worries. We’ll find a way to help you. I promise.” Tessa spoke. But the brothers had stopped in their tracks as two… women?… appeared in front of them. Tessa turned around, only to have two more appear behind them. “Shit.” the brunette cursed, stepping back in the middle with Mariela’s brothers. Sam stood in front and Sean stood behind, in an attempt to shield the two girls.

All of their heads turned at the sound of Raul’s voice. Sam opened to his mouth to speak, before the maze started to disappear. “Uh… What’s happening to the maze?” Sean asked. “I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure it’s not suppose to just disappear like this.” Sam said. Raul looked about as confused as they did, as the boys turned around to watch the maze disappear in front of them.

———

“It’s fine. You didn’t know.” Mariela spoke, her eyes still facing forward as she followed the path where her brothers had went off to. She stopped to give the Giant a confused look when he mentioned a face in the shard. “What?” she asked, before she held up the shard, stained with the blood of the fallen Princess of Greed. She saw Scar’s eyes, and her own eyes widened. “I’ll get you out of there, Scar. Promise.” she spoke, before moving her gaze back forward.

She was about to start walking again, but stopped as the maze seemed to suddenly disappear. “What’s happening to the maze?” she spoke out loud, turning around to look around as the hedges began to disappear. That’s when she remembered. “Lydia brought the maze from another dimension with her magic. When she died, her magic faded.” she spoke, but then the sudden realization hit that Douglas was part of the maze. “Oh no.” she spoke, whipping around to see Douglas going transparent.

“Little witch! Help me!”

Douglas called out, and Mariela started to panic. “Shit.” she spoke. Mariela didn’t know how to save Douglas, or the maze. But, she remembered that Lydia’s powers got absorbed into her when the collar locked onto her. Could that mean she had Lydia’s powers? It wasn’t possible. Mariela had to figure something out on how to save the giant. And she was quickly running out of time…

Artie: Could nightmares become real? Bandit’s eyes widened quite a bit as the women began to appear.. How familiar. How terribly familiar.. God. “Same old tricks, Raul?” Her voice was strong, but inside.. Inside, she was dying. The last time she’d encountered these women, she’d been whisked away from her home in the slave market and into slavery.. Great. “Fucking great.” These words were much lower, so much so that probably only Tessa could hear.. The little thief glared pointedly at Raul then, the brief emotion of surprise quickly falling from her face to be replaced with irritation.

Though it would one more return to wonder at the beginnings of the disappearance of the maze, blue eyes gazing around in confusion. “What the..” No witty comment, despite being thought of briefly, could leave her mouth. She was far too engrossed in the transparency of the leaves, the field that they remained on slowly becoming visible. It was as though someone had selected the layer of the bushes in photoshop and was slowly lowering the opacity until it was no longer visible..

But was this another trick? Bandit’s hand moved slowly to her boot, beginning to take out the accompanying dagger. Such a small weapon, but effective if necessary… Should they run through the branches and escape while they were transparent? Would being transparent make them partially passable, with only some resistance? If her legs had been working, Bandit would have tested this. Her legs.. Her legs! The blood had begun to drip down Tessa’s hand, and since they stood still, a pool had begun to form underneath Bandit. She was bleeding out, and time was of the essence.. Would Raul realize this?

Greed – The Masquerade Ball Maze

The Four Queens

Bandit would know this scene well. It was exactly the same one that had been played out in the agency where Raul and Bandit first met. He had used the card trick to trap her since she had tried to run from his clutches. The warlock set her onto a path that led her to another world, and be his slave. The only thing he didn’t count on was the fact that she had a friend that had watched over her. A certain black cat. A cat that had followed the Bandit everywhere she went. Another that had been cursed by the evil Raul. But the next series of events were going to be so out of this world, that it would leave all gasping in wonder. You see, the magic that brought the maze across from the realm of the Fallen mansion had also opened up doorways that before were never imagined possible. And so, with that same magic being pulled away with the Death of Lydia, those same doorways were opening again. Only this time as the maze appeared to be going back, along with the terrified Giant, another was slipping in. The leaves and branches of the maze were flickering on and off as the pull of magical power was lessening.

Raul looked as shocked as the others by what was happening. Bandit might have thought that this was one of his tricks, but it was clear by the look on his face that he had absolutely no clue at all. As the Queens danced and chanted, he snarled and raised his hand in an angered swipe, that saw the four Queens turn back into playing cards and fly back into his hands.

“I’M NOT THE ONE DOING THIS!” He roared in anger, spinning on his heel as he tried to think. It was in response to Bandit’s accusation. Her voice powered by the realization that she was facing the same game. Though the Warlock had just called off his own attack dogs. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a black cat. Unlike the maze, it was not fading in and out. It was as real as everyone else was. But as it approached, it started to alter and change….it changed into….Habib. The same slave that had helped Bandit in the land beyond the mirror.

The only thing was that he suddenly roared at Raul as great black wings exploded out of his back.

He was no simple slave….nor was he really a cat. With dark skin and eyes, he was truly a magnificent sight. He marched right up to Raul and stood with his face inches from Raul’s.

“The Princess of Greed is dead. Her hold over all things magical, is gone. The maze will leave Hell and return to it’s rightful place.” He spoke with a heavy Arabian accent, and you could see that he was far more powerful than Raul ever was. Raul was about to snap something foul at the dark one before him, but before he could Habib’s eyes fell upon the pool of blood that was at Bandit’s feet. It was clear to him, that the girl was bleeding out. Oh, if you could see the anger, the fury in the dark creature’s eyes. They flashed back at the hapless Warlock, as he simply pushed him out of the way. Crossing the ground and with the simple wave of his hand, he had the boys step aside. Habib came right up to Tessa and then he made a very noble bow.

“She is dying. Only I can save her.” Habib looked to Bandit, his face surely recognizable, but not his current form. “Let me take her to where she will be safe and I may heal her.”

“NO!….SHE IS MINE!” Raul roared, overhearing Habib’s words. He was not about to give Bandit up without a fight. Habib went to scoop the girl easily out of Tessa’s arms, as he looked back over his shoulder at the enraged Warlock.

“She goes with you, she dies. What you want with a corpse, hmm? Haven’t you hurt her enough?!” There was a true menace in his voice as he went to cradle Bandit to his chest. It was then that Raul made his terrible threat be known.

“If you don’t hand her over….that witch will never see Scar again.” To add to this thread, he said. “Without Scar’s hat….they..” He pointed to Tessa and Mariela’s brothers…“they…can’t go home.” Raul knew of a way to fix the mirror, and return Scar to his beloved little Witch…but the price was a great one. Bandit.

Time was now of the essence. Habib growled fiercely at the Warlock, as the maze continued to fizzle and flicker. It was then that Habib roared for Mariela to hear.

“YOU ARE THE POWER, MARIELA!!!…….YOU HAD IT ALL ALONG!!!. YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE!!! REPAIR THE BROKEN MIRROR WITH THE SHARD!!!….BRING THE MAZE BACK!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!”

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Six : SS.

Scar has done all he can to help the boys in finding their way to the doorway of Hell.  Now, it was up to them to save their sister…..

Scene setting – The World in Scar’s hat. : Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  This was going to be a tough job for the boys – but it needed to be done. They had to be strong and brave. They had to do this. They didn’t want their sister to die again – they wanted far from it. Sean thought over what Scar had said; the power of three. Then it hit him. The three closest people to Mariela needed to unite to open the door to Hell. Those three people being Mariela’s dear brothers, and Mariela’s best friend. It was clear now – even if it meant having to go through the painful memories again, they had to do it.

Scar jolted up, and Sean looked at him as he did so. He was a bit dazed, and his hair smoked – but he was awake. That’s all that mattered. And, that creepy eye thing was gone. “Do you believe now that magic does indeed exist in this world? Mariela was proof of that.” he said, watching Scar. “Sam is outside, on the phone with Tes-” Sean started, only to have Sam run back in. “I’m heading over to Tessa’s to pick her up. She said grab everything you need, as well as the book and Mariela’s amulet. She said if Marie really is in deep danger, then she’ll need her amulet. It holds all of her power.” Sam said, receiving a nod from his brother.

“Teleport yourself and Scar to the place. I’ll teleport me and Tessa there after I get her.” Sam then said, nodding and then leaving the room. He wrote a note for their parents and pinned it on the fridge, saying they were out late with some friends and would be back later. Who knew how long this would take them? No need to worry their parents – and they couldn’t tell their mother what was going on. He then left and went – quickly – to grab Tessa. Sean turned around and picked the amulet off of the floor, before turning to Scar. “Sorry about that. It was the quickest way to wake you up.” he apologized.

Sean took a deep breathe, seeming to prepare himself for going back to that dreaded place. “Alright… Let’s go.” he said, and with a quick flick of his free hand, they disappeared from the house, and then reappeared a few feet in front of their old house – where Mariela was killed.

Razorbackwriter:  The basement room swirled into nothingness, only to next have Sean and Scar arrive on the footpath just outside what remained of the house that Mariela died in. The picket fence was still there, but you could see where the palings had been damaged by fire crews. The hinged gate was hanging by just one bracket and swung back and forth as though almost restless. The trees that were once full of flowers and brightly coloured leaves were still charred black. In the center of the yard was the burnt out remains of what was once a family dream home. It was like a skeleton, a hollowed out shell that still carried the air of death about it. Yellow police tape fluttered from tree to tree where investigations had taken place. It was both forlorn and in some ways very sad. This was not the place the boys would ever dream of having to return too. It was here that Mariela left this earth to never again feel the love in the families embrace, or the joy of being one with her family that she loved so much.

Scar’s face fell at the sight. He had seen many horrid things in his centuries of life, but this….this was made all the worse to know that Mariela suffered here. She gave her life so that her brothers may live theirs. Scar walked up to the broken gate, and at the touch of his hand it simply fell off the last hinge and collapsed to the ground with a clatter. The Alp winced and glanced back over his shoulder at Sean.

“Sorry about that.”

Letting out a sigh, the Alp ventured further up the path, as the breeze ruffled his hair. It was almost like Mariela’s fingers were teasing him. Was she with him in spirit? The Alp closed his eyes as though he wanted to feel her. Feel her so deeply to his core. Opening them again, he let out yet another sigh. Soon Sam and Tessa would join them, and then the spell could be cast to send the trio to her.

~RB~

Dessy:  They arrived at the footpath of the house, and immediately Sean flinched. He was already having flashbacks of that terrible day, as was obvious from the horrified expression on his face. His eyes looked around; the charred trees, the picket fence, the broken gate. This all brought back painful memories. But Sean took a deep breath, and began walking towards the house anyways.

Sean frowned as Scar touched the gate and it fell to the ground. When he apoligized, Sean just shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.” he said as they kept on walking. Mariela’s magic could be felt in the air – it was still here even after her death. Either that, or Mariela was somehow with them right now – to help them. Sean honestly didn’t know.

Once they reached the burnt up house, Sean froze. Visions of the fire reappeared again, and it took everything for him to not fall on his knees and cry. The plsce looked just like they left it – only difference being that there was police tap around it. Police tried investigating, trying to find out information – but they foung nothing. It was useless. Sean closed his eyes and held his breath for a few seconds, walking forward again as he opened them.

Meanwhile, Sam appeared with Tessa – who was a slim, tall, pretty brown eyed brunette who had short, shoulder length wavy hair. At the moment, it was in a ponytail. Sam and Tessa ran up the path, also getting flashbacks from the incdient… and they too, were having a hard time making it to the house. “We’re here!” Sam called, gesturing over to Tessa. “This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.” he gestured to Scar next.

“So, you’re the one in love with Marie?” Tessa gave a laugh. “I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.” she said with a smile.”And if she cares for you as must as it seems, judging by what Sam told me, and from the way her magic is felt in the air… especially aroudn you… she must love you, too.” she spoke. Tessa knew Mariela well – that much was obvious. She walked up to Sean, taking the amulet and the book, and then turning to face Scar. She looked at Scar, then the boys, and nodded. “Let’s get to work, then, shall we? Marie needs our help.”

Scar didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to feel the sadness that had now gripped Sean. When the young man came up alongside Scar and froze in his place, the Alp chewed on his bottom lip in an awkward fashion. He knew that this was not at all an easy thing to do. To face your fears. The greatest one, was the place that his sister gave up her life for him. For Sean, he could see not just the burnt out remains, but also the house in a different time…a time long before the hatred of the non believers would break their family apart.

The Alp was almost about to pat Sean’s back, when Sam called out from behind them.

“We’re here!”

It was Sam, with the girl that Scar had seen in the picture. So this was Tessa. The human friend of Mariela. Her best friend, and the keeper of her memories. Whether the twins believed it or not, it was Tessa who held the key to get to their lost Mariela.

“This is Tessa… Marie’s best friend. This guy is Scar, the one who I told you about.”

Scar bowed politely, though it was a bit showy by ordinary standards. Everything was over done…but that was the Alp’s nature. On rising, he examined her with a critical eye, before hearing her laugh and comment about how he was the one that was in love with Marie.

“The Duchess…yes. And I prefer to call her, Mariela.” Scar’s cheeks flamed a bit, as the girl appeared to be making light of Scar’s crush for the young witch. When it came to Mariela, and her well being he was serious. At all other times, he was a wicked scamp of a creature.

“I always told her that people crushed and fell in love with her all the time, but she never noticed. For her to notice you… that means you must be pretty special.”

Scar made a hmmph sound. He knew that Mariela didn’t feel the same way or as strongly as he did. He gave a false laugh, like a titter with a slight head wobble. “Oh, she can’t help but notice me. Mariela found me….hard to ignore.” It was then he beamed a large cheeky smile, before rolling his eyes and looking back at the twin boys. Tessa saying that Mariela must have loved him if her magic surrounded him. There was a connection….a very real one, but Scar had so much to worry about, and this would not concern him for the moment.

The girl was eager to get started, and Scar clapped his hands together.

“And…about time too.” This was the beginning of what would be Mariela’s rescue.

Walking up into the charred remains of the house, Scar scanned for the spot where she died. It wasn’t hard to find. The police had managed to do a good job of that, and this meant that it was easier for Scar to prepare for the ritual.

Seeing Tessa had the amulet and the book, Scar made a loud whistle for the boys to follow.

“Sean, you are to tie the handkerchief to the collar.” He then looked at Tessa. “You…dear, are to wear the amulet.”This may not have been what Tessa was expecting, but the alp had his reason for this. “Give me the book….and then I want all three of you to form a circle. You are all to place a hand on the collar in the middle, so that each of you are one with it.”

If Tessa gave him the book he would hold it out a few feet away from where the trio were standing, and let the pages fly open to the right spell.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.” Scar’s face grew dark as his eyes changed colour. The book had indeed a very strong power. “Only Mariela can summon me back. If she has the hat…..tell her to call for me. If not…..tell her I love her….and always will.”

Scar began to say the incantation, the words illuminating off the page in bright gold symbols as the wind picked up and howled around the trio. The jewels on the collar all started to illuminate one by one and their hands would start to tingle as the magic and power of their beloved Mariela was to take them on a one way trip……to hell.

The sky erupted over the house and a massive bolt of energy fired down, opening the ground beneath where the trio stood. Scar screamed the final words that was to send them on their way.

“DESTROY THE MIRROR!”

~RB~

Dessy:  Scar bowed to Tessa – and maybe over-did it a bit. Tessa just smiled and nodded her head, looking to the brothers before Scar began talking. He called her a… dutchess? Mariela was a dutchess? That was a bit shocking to the trio, to be honest. “Dutchess, huh? Never imagined Marie would ever be a dutchess. But, that’s not the concern at the moment.” Tessa spoke, shaking her head, but laughed when Scar said Mariela found him “hard to ignore”. “Hm… I bet.” she said. Tessa followed Scar up to the charred remains of the house, finding the exact spot where Mariela had died. Well… the police did one thing right…

Sam and Sean had waited, and once Scar whistled for them to go over there, the boys followed. Scar then began shouting out instructions… and they were eager to do as they were told. Sam held the collar, while Sean took the handkerchief and tied it around the collar like Scar instructed. Tessa gave a confused look when Scar told her to put on the amulet, but she handed him the book, before slipping the amulet around her neck, pulling her ponytail through it.

Tessa pointed to the spot where they were supposed to stand, before instructing the boys to stand in a certain spot. Tessa looked at them both, giving a nod of her head. The brothers looked at each other, before nodding at Tessa and then taking a deep breathe. Sean had his hand on the collar first, then Sam followed, and last Tessa.

“Oh….just one thing. I’m not coming with you.”

This caused all three of them to look at Scar… but Tessa just nodded. “I’ll make sure to let her know. See you soon, Scar.”Tessa said, before her and the boys shut their eyes. They felt the wind pick up, and their fingers started tingling. But neither of them let go. The sky erupted, and soon they felt a bolt of energy hit the ground… before it opened a hole and all three fell into it. They heard Scar’s final words right before they fell, and they all just nodded in agreement.

Then… they were gone.

Razorbackwriter:  And so they were gone.

Scar stood motionless as the great beam of light opened the hole beneath the trio that held onto the collar of Raul. As they all fell into it, there was an enormous crack as the earth groaned and protested for being violated so. Within a trice the hole closed once more, leaving Scar to be there alone in the charred remains of Mariela’s families house. The Alp bowed his head, closing his eyes as he felt Mariela’s magic slip away with them. The book that he had read from fell from his hands, with the pages falling open and turning, faster and faster till arriving at a blank page. Slowly Scar stared down at the empty page. Like the ending of a journal, or an unfinished diary. Was this significant? Crouching down, the Alp picked up the book and closed it slowly – bringing it to his chest. He didn’t know what Mariela was going through in the maze, or…if Raul and that bitch Lydia had her captured….or worse Would the twins and her best friend find her in time? Can their combined efforts save the witch….or will she be led to greatness?

Standing in the middle of the ruined house, Scar knew that it was futile to remain. The only way out was via the hat. It was how he was sent there, and again another rule he forgot to mention.

The only solace Scar had was that if and when the boys found their sister, she would have the family reunion to remember. Scar hoped that his sacrifice….was worth it.

The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Five : SS.

Scar is shocked at how those with magic in this world are treated.  He knows true evil and Mariela; along with her family were far from that.  Getting his bearings it is now up to the Alp to find the magic within himself to help the boys save their sister….

Scene setting – The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “You keep it all hidden away?”

At this question, the boys looked at each other, then Sean turned to Scar. “Yes. Magic isn’t exactly… praised here. We’ve always had to keep it hidden. Magic is considered nothing but pure evil – even if used for good, like Mariela’s was.” Sean spoke, looking at his brother, who nodded in agreement. “We started putting more effort into hiding it after Mariela’s death. The town found out we were witches and burned the house to try and kill all of us. Calling us “evil”, and “monsters”, and “wanting nothing more than to kill them all”.” Sam spoke, anger slightly in his voice by all of this. “You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?” Sam asked, before turning back around and walking to the chest.

Sean grabbed something off of the wall as they passed by, heading to the end of the room where the chest was located. It was an amulet – Mariela’s amulet that she wore at all times. The amulet helped her have full control of her powers, and it was also used to unlock various things of hers – such as the chest. The boys knelt down in front of the chest, and Sean held the amulet in front of it – then the chest popped open. Sam looked up at Scar, noticing he was looking at everything on the wall. “Look around, if you want. We’ll need to flip through the journals to find what we’re looking for.” he said, before both boys started digging through the chest.

They pulled out journals, most of them singed or with the cover almost completely burned off. A few other things were in the chest, like artifacts, for example – whatever were most valuable. There were a few video tapes lying around that, once again, given to them by Tessa. The boys didn’t know what exactly they were looking for – but they would look through everything.

As Scar looked around at the pictures, Mariela was seen through different ages of life. Most of them had Tessa in it, but they were there. Down to when she was a young child, up until her nineteenth birthday when she died. A few pictures were of Tessa and Mariela as young children. Some had them smiling, some had funny faces, in most of the younger one’s Mariela would stick her tongue out in a childish manner. The last picture that was taken was on her nineteenth birthday, three days before her death, as was obvious with a banner in the background that said “Happy 19th Birthday, Mariela!” and party decorations. Mariela was standing next to Tessa, one arm wrapped around her with a big, bright smile on her face, green eyes full of life and happy, and her blonde curls were like they always were. Tessa was kissing her cheek in a friendly gesture, holding a cup of punch in her other hand that wasn’t wrapped around Mariela. Mariela’s personality and life when she was here could be seen shining through the pictures… the life before she died.

The brothers didn’t hear what Scar had said, but Sean looked over hearing Scar speak to them, a bit startled by the sudden flair Scar seemed to have. “Alright. Come help us.” Sean said, handing a few journals to him. “If you see something that looks like a teleportation spell, or something dealing with this collar, let us know.” when he mentioned the collar, Sean picked it up, examining it closely now. Maybe there was some sort of writing on it… or some sort of symbols that could help them out here. Anything.

Razorbackwriter:  How odd this world was? Seeing magic as all evil and then murdering those that practice it? If humans went to Hell, the place where Mariela was now, they would see true evil in its most horrid forms. What Mariela and her brothers practiced was light magic, the kind that was good. Scar could see that, yet humans couldn’t. What a foul lot they were. Not appreciating what should be a blessing and not a curse. Scar knew all about curses. He knew what dark powers could do and what fueled them. Take Lydia for example. The Demon of Ambition. Oh, she appeared sweet and gentile on the surface, but she was darker than most of the other heads of hell. She was cruel, and one that thought of no one but herself. She fitted into the new role of Greed with such ease it was hardly surprising. The more that Scar thought of it, the more he realized that Mariela did not truly belong in Hell. She was in a way an Angel. Least in his mind. Perhaps that was part of the attraction. Loving something he could never have, or hope to be.

“You’ve met our sister… tell us. Do you honestly think Mariela would use her powers for any sort of evil?”

Scar shook his head. He didn’t think that Mariela had a bad bone in her body. In fact, she seemed almost reluctant to use her powers. She was so shy about them. Was it an insecurity, or was it the fact that her power was what led her to end up being in Hell?

“No, I don’t think she ever would. If anything she would use them to save another, given the chance.”

This was as honest as you would ever get the Alp to be. Having him open up…oh if only Mariela could see this. See the human version of the alp. it would be an eye opener. Watching the boys recover an amulet that Mariela used to wear, and then using it to open a chest, Scar was told to look around, while the boys rummaged through her chest. Scar gave a curt nod as he was more than happy to peruse through all of Mariela’s pictures and treasures.

One picture he simply couldn’t take his eyes off was the one of her celebrating her 19th birthday, with her friend Tessa. The young witch was so vital looking. Happy, so very happy. The world at her feet, and there for the taking. Yet it was not to be. Scar tipped his head to the side as he saw how the camera had captured that radiant beauty that he had come to love.

“So beautiful.” Scar uttered as he passed his hand over the picture. Only thing was as he turned away from it, the images in the photograph started to move. The girls becoming animated. The photo had come to life, and Scar didn’t know that it was he that had caused it. Again, he was unaware of the true power of the hat.

“Alright. Come help us.” Sean was now ready to have Scar help them in finding a spell. He handed the alp some journals and Scar took them, before finding a small chair to sit on. One by one, he started to flip through the pages. His eyes scanning back and forth across the text. One book, that sat beside him and was next on the pile to be read, had a symbol on the front. Aged and tattered yellow stained pages poked out haphazardly, while the symbol glowed with a sudden brightness, as Scar muttered some words, that he read on another page. Mariela’s magic was able to be reached, via the true connection that he had with her.

Turning his head slowly, he could see the glowing symbol and then whispered.

“I think I’ve found something.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Honestly, it was hard to live in a world where “magic” was seen as evil. There was magic much more evil then what the brothers and their sister practiced… but people believed all magic was evil. Except for Tessa. Tessa had found out on accident what the family were, but she saw the good they done with it and knew the goodness that Mariela had in her would cause her to use the magic for good only. Sure, Mariela was capable of doing dark magic with ease if she wanted to, but that’s the thing: Mariela didn’t want to. She wanted to use light magic. She wanted to use her powers for good… not evil, whether she was capable of doing it or not.

Tessa was the one who was always with Mariela when she practiced her magic. Watching, observing – she found it interesting that her best friend was so powerful, while she was just an ordinary human. She also found it interesting that a girl who could use both good and bad magic chose to only use the good magic and had no interest in practicing the dark. Tessa has seen what Mariela can do, when her brothers haven’t. Tessa was there for all of it. Every time Mariela wanted to try out a new spell – Tessa was called to be with her. Sort of just as comfort. She also documented things in some of the journals of what she observed and what Mariela explained. Mariela trusted Tessa with her life – which is why Tessa was the only one in town not involved in the fire, and the only person who ran back to the burned house after to comfort her family. Even now, she kept in touch with the family frequently – she was always treated like one, after all. Mariela and Tessa were like sisters.

Hearing Scar speak about their sister, the boys nodded in agreement. “Exactly.” Sam spoke, looking up momentarily. “I can’t recall a single incident where Marie used her powers for evil. She always used them to save someone else. She always put her life in danger to keep someone else from getting harmed – like what she did with us in the fire. She was always willing to risk her life, and sacrifice herself for others.” Sam said. He then looked back to the books, rapidly flipping through pages in an attempt to find something. A lot of this stuff was foreign to them – the boys never learning it, and Mariela never having the chance to teach it to them.

After Scar ran his hand over the picture, it came to life. The girls moving inside the picture – retelling what had happened on that day after the picture was taken. As the picture moved, Tessa could be seen wrapping her arms around Mariela in a hug, before her parents, brothers and other people there joined in for a group hug. They congratulated, and Mariela was laughing and smiling the entire time. The brothers never noticed the picture coming to life – they were too busy searching the journals.

“I think I’ve found something.”

Scar called, and the boys looked up at him. Scar was eager to help when asked for it, and he had grabbed a stack of books and sat in a chair. They turned their heads to follow Scar’s gaze, and Sean got up and walked to the now glowing book with the symbol on it. “How did you do that?” Sean asked, looking up and staring at Scar. “Actually, never mind… Hopefully this has what we need.” he spoke, and he reached over to pick up the book. He blew dust off the cover, and then opened the book to the first page. But he stopped as the pages of the book turned on their own, flipping through pages before carefully landing on a page that had just what they needed. Sam had gotten up by this point, walking over and standing next to his brother. Mariela’s magic could now be felt throughout the room… for reasons unknown. “Looks like Marie is still with us… and she already knows what we are looking for.”

Razorbackwriter:  Scar wasn’t entirely convinced that he had magic in this world. As far as he knew he was a normal human being, but the truth was that the magic resided within him, due to the Mariela. It was this connection that they had, that crossed beyond realms and reality. The awakening of those that were in the picture he touched was just the start. The boys were eager to see the book that Scar had been holding, and as the pages flipped through to the right place, it was clear that from the inscriptions, that they were going to need help on this. Not only that, because as Scar read the text he started to feel a pressing in his forehead. Little by little. His skin was stretching and the alp cried out as the emergence of a third eye appeared on his head. It was the most unnatural thing you had ever seen. A beautiful green coloured eye that was slightly larger than his other two. It may well have given the two boys a scare to see. Scar’s sudden cries might also have had them shocked.

Scar got up from his seat as the eye rolled around and around before finally settling. The eyelid opened and closed as though testing and the Alp was taking short sharp breathes. He reached up and waved his right hand in front of the eye, and it blinked a few times.

“I didn’t think I could do it.” It really was a shock. He still had some magic. Maybe not the hat, but something far more useful. The third eye. With shaking hands he picked up the book and then he started to go into like trembling fit as the eye flew wide open and projected a scene out into the room much like a hologram. What the boys would see, was the one thing that they would never wish to witness again.

The blazing fire that killed their beloved Mariela.

In a strange voice, Scar spoke. “This is the door way from this world to Hell. It is the way she traveled there. Take the collar, her handkerchief and her friend Tessa to the spot where the house stood.” Scar continued to tremble as the eye was now in control. “The power of three are needed to be united to fight the Demon of Ambition and Greed. The book will guide you.”

The holographic image soon faded out to nothing, and the eye closed – before sinking back into Scar’s skin. The alp then dropped Mariela’s book and passed out on the floor in a heap.

Dessy:  Sean scanned over the page, moving his eyes across the words… only to end up shaking his head. “I don’t understand any of this. This is a lot more advanced than the stuff we can do. The inscriptions, the writing… I don’t understand it.” he spoke, handing the book over to his brother. Sam ran his fingers along the page as he read each word.”Marie never taught us this… Either she never got around to it, or she knew we wouldn’t be strong enough to do it.”

Both boys dropped the book and jumped when Scar started screaming. They watched with wide eyes as what appeared to be another eye appeared on Scar’s forehead. At the sight of the big green eye, the boys took a couple of steps back, their faces holding shocked expressions on them. They simply watched Scar, the eye blinking a few times and Scar waving his hand in front of it. They were discovering a lot of new things today.

“This is just as shocking for us as it was for you…” Sam said, but grew quiet when the eye opened up a hologram. What they saw, was not something they expected to see… and the one thing they never wanted to see again. The fire popped up – the same blazing fire that killed their sister. A gasp came out of Sean’s mouth, and he stumbled backwards, getting caught by his brother who had wide eyes and a horrified expression on his face. After standing his brother up, the boys listened to the words Scar said, but flashes of the fire just kept appearing back in their thoughts.

They needed to go back. Back? To the one place that they tried to run away from? From the town they never wanted to see again? They had no choice. They’d have to deal through the painful memory… to save their sister. “Back? We have to go back?” Sean called, dread clear in his voice. Scar passed out on the floor, and Sam ran to catch the book. “Yes, we have to go back.” Sam said, tossing the book to his brother. “I’ll go call Tessa and let her know. Grab the collar and the handkerchief, as well as the book, and see if you can try to wake him up.” Sam pointed to Scar, and Sean nodded. Sam left the room, pulling out his phone in the process.

Sean immediately turned around, facing Scar. He held out his hand and sent a burst of light towards Scar, in an attempt to jolt him awake. He then turned around, grabbing the handkerchief and then grabbing hold of the collar, placing them on top of the book, which he held tightly in his hand. He then waited to hear back from his brother after his phone call with Tessa. This was going to be hard… but they had to do it. They had no choice.

Razorbackwriter:
Darkness. Scar was out cold. Whatever it was that was so powerful to awaken his third eye must have still been present in that room. It was a pretty good guess, that Mariela’s magic was strong within her personal effects, and having touched and handle these items allowed for Scar’s own magic to begin to shine through. The third eye was able to see not only Mariela’s end, but the best and only way to reach her from this world. It was pretty simple really. The last known place of the witch before her terrible death was the house of her birth. The house that had been consumed by the devastating fire. Of course, it is the last place on earth that the brothers would ever wish to be, and being reminded of it was enough to startle and shock both boys. This was going to be a great test of not only their courage, but also acceptance. Going back to the root of your fear and facing it takes a lot of guts. But the reason to go back was to be able and find a way to reach their sister and save her from the evil within the maze. Did the boys understand what Scar was really asking them to do? By bringing Tessa into this, the three of them – all the closest people to Mariela; would need to unite and hold the collar as they stand over the very ground on where she took her last breaths.

As Scar lay on the stone cold floor, his body would be hit by a burst of light. A jarring sensation like an electrical charge would travel through him and the alp would awaken with a fright. His hair smoking slightly, Scar sat up looking dazed. His third eye had disappeared from his forehead, having gone back under his skin. Now he just looked human again.

“My magic worked!” The alp explained, a smile starting to form upon his lips. He had been so sure that he had no magical powers in this world without his hat, but little did he realize that it was Mariela’s power that rubbed off on him and helped him to assist her brothers. Bless her.

https://i1.wp.com/media.giphy.com/media/XFv0SkVD4sXm0/giphy.gif

Scar looked around for Sam, who was no longer in the room.

“Where is the other one?”

The alp didn’t know he was off trying to get Tessa. Seeing that Sean had all the things they needed to go and rescue Mariela, Scar was quick to get to his feet. Patting himself down, the alp did have one thing to say about being zapped awake.

“Next time, you could just slap my face to wake me up.” He did smell a bit like cooked bacon.

The World inside Scar’s hat – Part Four : SS.

The twins; Sean and Sam were starting to believe the crazy Alp’s story.  Everything that Scar said about Mariela matched up with the boy’s questions.  Now, they had a mission and that was to see if they could break Raul’s collar off Scar’s neck.  Could it be handy in finding a way back to Hell?

Scene setting : The World inside Scar’s hat – Seven Sins series.

Written with Dessy.

Dessy:  “We can always try, right?” Sean spoke, receiving a nod from his brother. “The collar might be some kind of portal. You may not have magical powers, but we do. We can probably use our power to send you back to Hell.” As Sean spoke, his brother had moved to Scar and the collar. He ran his hand along the collar, then gave a nod. It wastheir sister – he was positive of it now. He recognized the magic that still lingered on the collar – he could feel it. “Her magic is still on it. I can feel it when I put my hand near the collar.” he said. “If I focus, I might be able to sense what she did to unlock it the first time. Then all I’d have to do is trace and match it to unlock it again.” he said, and Sean nodded his head.

“I don’t know much about this hat, or this powerful warlock Raul… but if he’s as powerful as you claim, then Mariela needs our help.” Sean said again. “Some of Mariela’s spellbooks and journals survived the fire. Not many, but some. Maybe we can look through there and find something. I’m sure she has at least something to help us send you back.” Sean had determination in his voice. They might not have been able to save her here… but they were willing to save her in Hell. They were not going to let her die again… not after she risked her life for them the first time. They didn’t care if she was in Hell. They were going to save her.

“She had a habit of recording everything she did. Every spell she performed, every potion she made, every new power she had discovered and what not. She kept them in journals and usually kept them hidden from other people.” Sean spoke again. “If the collar isn’t some kind of portal, then maybe there’s some other way to open a portal to send you to Hell. And if there is, chances are is Mariela has it written down somewhere.” Sean was doing all of the talking while Sam was focused on the collar. Sam was concentrating on getting the collar off, so he didn’t need to be disturbed. So Sean did the talking.

“That’s if… you’re willing.” Sean added. “If you’re willing to accept our help, then we’re willing to give you our help. For Mariela. She died once… we will not let her die again, Hell or not.” he spoke. Sean knew sending him back to Hell would require a lot of power. The boys couldn’t do it by themselves like Mariela could… but if they worked together and combined their powers, then they might be able to do it.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar really didn’t like being touched. When one of the boys moved his finger across the jeweled collar to get a trace of Mariela’s magic, the Alp winced at having this lad so close. It was necessary, but uncomfortable. Only when the boy stepped back and announced that he had felt the surge of Mariela’s magic left on it, did Scar let out a sigh of relief. This proved pretty much everything. That Mariela was their sister, and that they believed what the Alp had said to be true. Scar wouldn’t lie, there was no point to it. He was desperate to get back and help the young witch, but knew the limitations placed on him due to how he came to be in Sean and Sam’s world.

One thing about the boy’s chatter, was that Scar was learning a great deal more about the young Witch he cared so much for. She kept a number of journal and spell books, having noted down everything from spells she created and used, to her day to day life. These very things could be helpful to the pair if they wanted to find a way to get to her. They would never have imagined where Mariela ended up, not until Scar had pointed them towards it.

The Alp reached up to the collar and started to try and prize it off with his fingers. He clawed at it, and struggled as the collar remained tightly fastened. It was designed this way so that the person that wore it, could not take it off themselves. Sean asked if Scar was willing to accept the boys help, since they pretty much were determined to find their sister and help her. They owed her their lives, and now her life…in hell was in grave danger. Releasing his hands from the collar, he let them fall to his sides as he nodded slowly.

“Alright…alright. Can one of you, please take this collar off me, and we can get to tracking her back to hell.”

Dessy:  Sam didn’t notice Scar wince as he ran his fingers over the collar. As his brother was talking, Sam was focusing on tracing Mariela’s magic. His hand stopped moving when he could trace Mariela’s magic no more. “I know how to get it off. Just… keep still, and stop clawing at the damn collar.” Sam said, waiting until Scar moved his hands. His fingers moved along the collar, touching each jewel the same way Mariela did. Within seconds, the collar popped off – just like it did with Bandit. “There.” Sam said, removing the collar and holding it up in his hand. “It’s off. Now, before we destroy it, we need to see if we can use it to open a portal to Hell.” he spoke. Mariela taught them well – with the things she managed to teach them before she died, that is.

Sean nodded at his brother when he successfully got the collar off. “Good. Now that that’s done, we need to focus on getting him back to Hell.” he then said. All of a sudden, the group of boys they were with earlier were calling their names. “One second.” Sean said, beginning to exit the forest. He yelled out that him and his brother had to go, because they had important family matters to tend to – which, technically, wasn’t exactly a lie. After saying goodbye, he re-appeared later. “I told them we had important family matters to attend to. They shouldn’t bug us for awhile.” he said, his gaze turning back to Scar.

“Now, we might have to head to our home to go through the books Mariela has. No worries, our father is at work and mother is running errands all day. We don’t have to worry about them.” Sean said. “Thank god. We do not need mother finding out that Mariela is in Hell and is in danger. She’s had a hard enough time after her death as it is.” Sam said, looking at Scar. “Quick question… what is your name? That might be important to know before we head off and get to work.”

Sean nodded his head, walking over to where his brother and Scar were standing. “We’re ready to do this whenever you are. Just give us the word.” he spoke, giving Scar a determined nod.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar looked uneasy as Sam worked his fingers on the jewels that lined the collar. One by one his fingers traced over in the same fashion that Mariela had done, and so with his magical powers fusing with those left by Mariela, it was enough to break the collar off – falling into Sam’s hand. Scar took a step back and started to touch around his neck as though he could hardly believe that he was now rid of the thing.

“Ugh…horrid piece of warlock crap.” The Alp hissed as he took a breath and then stared at Sam and Sean through dark slits. The words of destroying the collar brought about a foul look from the Alp. “Think twice before you destroy it. It’s probably the only chance you have to find her.” Scar pursed his lips, before starting to pat down the clothes that he was wearing to see if he had anything on him that could be of use to the pair. In his pocket, he happened to find a flimsy piece of cloth that had laced edges and was quite delicate. Withdrawing it slowly, Scar then realized what it was. It was Mariela’s handkerchief. The Alp having pinched it from her whilst she was dancing. it was monogrammed with her initials and carried her scent. He took a sniff, closing his eyes as it was almost like he could see her bright and colourful in his mind’s eye.

“Here…you might find this useful.” As with any spells, to have something from the person you wish to seek, it pays to have a personal item or lock of hair. This was the next best thing.

At one point, the other lads that had been playing the football game were calling for the boy’s return. Course, the boys had more important things to do, and were able to blow them off using a good excuse. Scar waited in the bushes for that news to be delivered, before the boys were ready to take him to their house. It was there that they kept their sisters personal effects and her spell books. With the handkerchief and the collar, they had a better chance to create the right amount of magic.

As the boys were about to head off to take Scar to their home, they did want to know one thing. What his name was.

“Scar. Just Scar.” The Alp didn’t have a nickname or a surname, just the one name. And that was quite enough. He then bowed low and extended his hand.

“Lead the way, gentlemen.”

~RB~

Dessy:  Sam handed the collar over to his brother, and Sean began examining it, turning it in his hand. Sean was the smartest out of the two – yes, Sam was smart, but he was more athletic than anything. Sean was also athletic, but he was mostly smart than anything.”We’ll definantly need to look through Marie’s journals. I don’t recognize anything on the collar – it’s probably more advanced magic. Stuff Marie could do, that we can’t.” he said, looking at Scar when he spoke. When Scar said “horrid piece of warlock crap”, Sam couldn’t help but laugh.

Sean nodded his head when Scar said not to destroy it. “Right. We find our sister first, then destroy it.” he said. The brothers turned and watched him as Scar started patting his pockets, and Sam narrowed his eyes in curiosity. He then watched Scar pull out a handkerchief – and when Sam squinted his eyes he saw Mariela’s initials. Then Scar was… sniffing it. Okay… A little weird. But whatever.

Sam reached over and took the handkerchief, examining it. “This will work perfectly.” Sam said, giving a nod of his head.”With this, and the collar, we can find a way to get you back to Hell.” he added soon after. After he spoke his name, the boy’s raised an eyebrow and looked up at each other, before Sam shrugged. “Scar. Gotcha.” he said.

“We won’t have to walk. We can teleport us there.” Sean said with a grin. With a quick flick of Sam’s hand, they disappeared, and then reappeared in front of the house. It was a cute little house – blue, and a two story. It was quaint and it was comfortable, yet elegant at the same time – which was proven once Sam opened the door and waited for Sean and Scar to enter, before closng it behind him. It was very homely and comfortable on the inside. From the looks of the house, you could have never guessed they were witches. The boys took their shoes off, placing them by the door like always. “This way.” Sean said, before heading down a hallway.

Sam bent down, removing the light blue and green striped rug, revealing a door. Sean had left, and came back with the key, handing it to his brother. Sam unlocked the door, pulling the handle and opening it up, sticking the key into his pocket. Sean walked down first, pressing a button to turn on the lights to the basement. They kept all of there witch stuff here – potions, materials, herbs, witch books – everything. Sam came down after, shutting the basement door after he walked down. “This is just the basement, where we keep everything that we use. We keep all of Mariela’s belongings in a trunk, that can only be opened by us. That way no one can get into it.” Sean spoke, as they walked to a door in the basement.

Sean held his hand to the door, muttering something, and then the door glowed and swung open. Only way the door could be opened. The inside revealed what seemed to be all a memorial shrine – with all of Mariela’s belongings that they managed to save from the fire. That was obvious from some pictures on the wall in frames that were a bit burned up, certain pieces of fabrics that were torn and burned hanging on walls. “All of this is stuff we managed to save from the fire. Pictures, pieces of fabrics from Mariela’s clothing. Everything we could save that dealt with her – we did. The stuff you see that aren’t burned are pictures Marie’s best friend, Tessa, had given to us after her death. She was the only one who knew what we were… the two have been friends since they were young. Grew up together.” Sam said, looking to Scar as he spoke. In the pictures, the one known as Tessa was a pretty brown-eyed and brunette girl that was seen in most of the pictures. Tessa still kept in touch with the family, and she was kind enough to hand over pictures she had kept of her and Mariela – or just Mariela – for them to have since most of the pictures, except for a small few, were lost in the fire.

Razorbackwriter:  What a strange place it was. The home of the twins. It all looked, so normal. So very human. Scar was almost scared of it. He kept up with the twins, who were more than accommodating. The alp watched as they took off their shoes before entering the house. Apparently that was customary and Scar bawked before following suit. He just was so out of his element. He took off each boot with a clunk and a thud, then lined them up alongside the boys shoes neatly. When in Rome and all that. Once they made their way inside, Scar could not stop turning his head left and right. Family pictures on the walls. Happy, smiling faces beaming down at him. Like something out of a magazine. Perfect families. Scar didn’t know or understand what being part of a family felt like. All he could gather was that the twins cared a great deal about their sister; Mariela.

Scar followed the boys down the hallway till they reached a light blue and green striped rug, that hid in behind it a door. It was obviously something that the boys wanted no one else to know about. The Alp’s eyes darted back and forth as one of the boys went to fetch a key. Sam did the honors, and opened the door – turning on the light that flooded the basement. So this was where they kept their supernatural artifacts and belonging. Not everything was what it seemed to be.

This brought about a question from the alp. If magic was here in this world, why all the secrecy? That was how it seemed. Were magical people considered evil beings, or simply misunderstood? Scar thought that this world was devoid of magic, but apparently he was very wrong.

“You keep it all hidden away?” This said with the Alp bending his head to the side in a curious fashion. The twins mentioned that they kept all of Mariela’s possessions in a trunk that could only be opened by them. This fueled the idea that there were those that hunted her kind in this world, if they had to keep it somewhere that only would be privy to them ever seeing it.

As they walked through another door in the basement there was a definite feeling of a magical presence. It was unmistakable in fact. Scar had felt it before and that was in Mariela’s company. In this room was a shrine to Mariela. Belongings, clothes, personal effects. Books, and partially burnt photographs. Scar spun around and around slowly as he tried to take it all in. This was indeed a fascinating sight to behold. Scar knew of the witch in hell. The Duchess of Greed. The beauty of the Ball. Here was the images and the belongings of a girl that Scar didn’t know. This was her human world self. Even though much of it was dusty or burnt, it brought to life Mariela in Scar’s mind. The way the boys had kept all of these treasures showed their love and respect for her. In a way, Scar was glad that they had not let her memory die with her. It showed their love for her and it was this gift; this love that they had for her that could be the very thing to save her in Hell.

Her power….was love. It was only being away from her and stuck in the hat that the Alp was able to see it for himself. As the boys spoke of how they gathered everything they could and brought it all down here, including items from her best friend Tessa, the Alp was lost for the moment in just enjoying seeing this side of his beloved witch. He was starting to understand a great many things that before his evil heart could not possibly do. This was why she was so powerful, and it was the reason she could defeat Lydia.

Touching one of her dresses that hung on the wall closest to where he stood, Scar whispered to it, as though speaking to his Mariela.

“You are worthy of this sacrifice.” Whether the boys heard him or not, remained to be seen – but it was in that moment that Scar knew what he had to do. His black little heart beat fiercely as he found a renewed vigor. Clapping his hands he turned to the lads and said with a flair that they would not have ever imagined him having.

“Right lads, how about we get to making a spell that takes us all to Hell.”

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Three : SS.

Mariela’s brothers; Sean and Sam don’t know quite what to make of Scar and his tales of Hell.  Was he simply a mad man, or was he telling the truth?

This arc is co-written with Dessy, and is a spin off from the Maze of Greed stories.

Scene setting – Scar’s hat – Seven sins series.

Dessy:  “Considering you just beat your head against the tree, of course you’re gonna be in pain.” Sam commented sarcastically, crossing his across his chest. Honestly, the boys should have left by now. They should have just left this crazy man alone… but they didn’t. Why? Because they wanted to know why their sister’s name was being screamed from his mouth. They needed to know.

“My…Mariela…is trapped in a maze in Hell. She’s there, and I’m here.”

The man finally began speaking in between pants. The boys turned to look at each other, raising an eyebrow as they looked back to the man standing in front of them. Mainly the way he called her “his Mariela”. There confused looks ony got worse as Scar continued talking. He then mentioned a warlock using his hat to send him here as punishment. Sent him from Hell to Earth? As witches, they knew traveling between the worlds was possible, but they didn’t honestly believe this man came from Hell. Plus, why would their sister be in Hell? She was much too good-hearted for that.

The brothers let him finish talking before they said anything. He then went on to mention about how she was the most powerful witch he’s ever met, but she didn’t know her own strength. Maybe it really was their sister. They all came from a long line of powerful witches – although Mariela seemed to have gained more strength than they all did, for reasons unknown. She used her witch abilities more than anyone, and was better with them. She also learned new spells and such easily. She was passionate about her abilities and powers… about being a witch. She cherished being a witch. Their parents knew she was powerful, and the brothers knew it – but Mariela never knew how powerful she was. Mariela was a powerful being, but she never thought she was when it was brought up. And nothing had ever happened for her to need to use her power and strength to prove how powerful she was.

But this still didn’t mean it was her. Not yet. He began speaking about Lydia, and Lydia wanting to use Mariela’s power to cause war in Hell… over the Wrath kingdom. Sean widened his eyes, his green eyes looking at his brother. They all knew that someone would end up finding out about Mariela’s power and wanting to use her for it… they just didn’t expect it to be in Hell, of all places. They expected it to be here. He then talked about the maze, and the brothers noted the guilt in his voice… blaming it on himself.

He tried getting Mariela to take the hat so she could be here. This caused Sam to roll his eyes… their sister was always stubborn. It was certainly starting to sound more like Mariela. He then said that… there was no magic here? Was he nuts? He was standing… kneeling now… on the ground in front of two witches. Of course there was magic. From the way he talked about Mariela, it sounded like he was in love with her… which was weird. Mariela was never one for relationships or love. She certainly never had people fall in love with her – so she says, at least. She did, but she either never noticed or they hid it well.

“You called her “your” Mariela? From the way you talk about her, you make it sound like you’re in love with her or something.” Sam spoke up again. “The way you described her certainly sounds like our sister, down to her being powerful and not knowing it, to her stubborness. But, let me get this straight… You came from Hell? You were sent by a warlock? And Mariela is there in Hell?” he said, shaking his head. “Impossible. Mariela wouldn’t end up in Hell after death. She’s too good-natured. She’s never done anything to land her in hell.”

“Wrong.” Sean finally spoke up, looking at his brother when he gave a confused look. “Marie may have been good natured, but there is one thing she’s done that sent her to Hell.” “What is that?” Sam asked, dropping his arms at his side. “Murder. Remember? We were eleven, Marie was sixteen. We were coming home from a walk when a man attacked us in the alleyway, holding a gun to my head. He threatened to shoot me if Marie didn’t do what she was told. Marie knew he was lying and would kill us anyway, then her next, so she knocked the gun out of his hand and shot him with it.” Sean spoke.”She was sent to Hell for killing him.” he added afterwards.

“Oh… god.” Sam said with wide eyes, shaking his head. “Still doesn’t prove it’s her. Can you describe her to us?” Sam said, looking at Scar. Sean looked over at him as well, running a hand through his light brown hair. “You said there was no magic here?” he then asked. “You’re standing in front of two witches… in the same bloodline as Mariela. She was born and raised in this world. Magic is what got our sister killed.” he crossed his arms. “So what do you mean “magic does not exist”, when it does? You’re standing in front of it.”

Razorbackwriter:  “You called her “your” Mariela? From the way you talk about her, you make it sound like you’re in love with her or something.”

Scar rolled his eyes and looked exasperated. What was with the big hoo haa about him calling Mariela his. God, she did the same thing. It seemed so natural to say she was his, because he really didn’t know where he was, and they spoke of a Mariela…their Mariela and Scar…had his. Now with a terrible headache to contend to, he was going to have to explain himself to these…boys. “Yes….I love her. Throw the book at me. Woah, it is so wrong that an Alp should love a witch, but I do.” This of course was said with much arm flailing as though to emphasize the point. Bringing his fingers back to point at his chest he continued. “My Mariela, Your Mariela…Mariela is in hell. How she got there was a mystery to me. All I know is that I was summoned by Lydia and Mariela to the Kingdom of Greed to serve the Princess.”

Now the story was starting to be told. From the moment that Scar arrived in the palace of Greed, Lydia had plans for him. What she didn’t count on was the fact that by him spending so much time with the young witch, that he would find himself falling for her goodness and beauty. It had nothing to do with power. The Alp himself had power, but most of it lay in the hat that he wore. The hat that was back in the Maze in Hell.

“And yes, I came from hell, via…my own Hat. Which was used against me by a powerful warlock named Raul. Raul works for Lydia. You do the math.” Again, much hand waving as he spoke. To see Scar this upset and emotional was most unusual, but answering the boy’s questions meant a lot of explaining, that he felt he had already done time and time again.

https://i1.wp.com/24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3p4ejS5uG1ql6ewao1_250.gif

“You must be her kin. You sure do ask as many questions. Hmmph.”

Scar pushed himself up off the ground at this point, ready to square off with the lads if they didn’t believe him. He listened to the tale of how she had murdered a man that had threatened to shoot one of them. Again, another roll of the eyes.“Murder….is a one way ticket to hell, fellas.” Of course it was. It was one of the ten commandments, and it had been broken. “No matter how good you are, one bad mistake can cost you dearly.” The Alp was getting tired of all this. He knew in the back of his mind that precious seconds were ticking away, and the longer he was here going on and on about Mariela and not doing anything was like he was wasting time.

Scar was about to facepalm now that they were asking him to prove that she was the one that they had lost years before. The alp fumbled and then he suddenly looked up. He pulled away at his scarf, and there…tightly fixed to his neck was Raul’s collar that had been removed by Mariela from Bandit.

“This…horrid thing. It was one one of the Warlock’s slaves….or something. Mariela broke the magical seal by damaging one of the jewels. It’s a tracker…thingymebob. Horrible thing. The Warlock fixed it onto me, because Mariela took it off Bandit. Another in the maze. Mariela’s magic might still be on it…I don’t know. I’m just an alp…this is all completely beyond me.”

The Alp did not believe magic existed in this world, because he was no longer an alp in form, but a human. He didn’t feel magical, or how he had. The brothers claimed that they were witches. Both of them.

“Male witches? Is there such a thing?’ He said with a raised brow.

~RB~

Dessy:  “Does she love you?” Sam asked, and this caused a glare from his brother. “It doesn’t matter! Our sister is in Hell and it sounds like she’s in danger. That’s what matters.”Sean spoke, shaking his head at his brother then turning to Scar. “You’re an Alp? I’ve heard of that before, but I don’t remember. This… Raul… sounds like bad news. Just how in danger is Mariela?” Sean asked. Sean had the right idea – they needed to worry about their sister.

“You must be her kin. You sure do ask as many questions. Hmmph.”

Sean nodded. “We’re her younger brothers.” he then replied. “I’m Sean, and this my twin brother, Sam” he gestured to his brother, who nodded. “She was very protective over the both of us. That’s why she had sacrificed her life.” Then again, Mariela was always willing to risk her life to save others – every other time she had just gotten lucky. She wasn’t very lucky for the fire.

Scar began explaining the collar around his neck, explaining that Mariela had took it off and Raul snapped it on to him. “Let us take a look at it. While we’re not as… strong and advanced as our sister, chances are that if Marie’s magic is still on it, we might be able to break it off again.” Sam finally spoke up, receiving a nod from his brother. “There’s a lot of things Mariela can do that we can’t… not even her parents. While she taught us a few things, she couldn’t teach us everything before she died… and soem things were hard and impossible for us to learn. But we should be able to break it off.”

“Male witches? Is there such a thing?”

This caused both boys to laugh. “Yes, there’s such a thing. It’s uncommon to find a male witch, as most are born female. But when you’re born from a long bloodline of powerful witches… chances are both genders will be witchs.” Sean spoke.”You said the collar was some sort of tracker? Maybe it can be used to find Marie.” Sam spoke. “Possibly even find a way to send you back to Hell.” They both called her “Marie”, even after death… never her full name. It was the nickname she always went by, and to this day they still called her Marie.

Razorbackwriter:  “Does she love you?”

This question would stop the Alp in his tracks. Did she love him? She never showed it if she did, and it was not like they were any sort of romantic couple. It was very much one sided. He was an Alp. A demon of nightmares. The whole idea of love, was so foreign to him, and yet he was feeling this way for the young witch. Unrequited? Possibly. All he knew was that he was willing to die for her. More than once. If that was not love, then…what was? The two boys went on and on. Asking questions then dismissing it as they conferred on all that Scar had told them. Scar didn’t really think they even knew what an Alp was, but he was pretty much caught between the incessant banter. Back and forth he looked between the two lads as they started asking more questions as to whether Mariela was in a really dangerous situation. Would Scar be acting as he had if she wasn’t? Hadn’t he just explained that the warlock of the maze was a very powerful one.

The twins names were Sam and Sean. Younger brothers of Mariela. They claimed to be male witches, something Scar didn’t know existed. They were not as powerful as say, Mariela, but they had been taught a few things by her, and they were willing to do what they could to help. On learning about the jeweled collar that was fastened around Scar’s neck, again they were eager to see if they could break it off. The notion that it was a tracking device meant there was a slim hope of using it to create a portal to go back to Hell, where Mariela was. All Scar knew was that he had been sent via his own hat. This world, was inside the hat. To escape it would take a great deal of magical power. Was it something that the boys possessed?

Through all the talking and the questions, Scar was beginning to have doubts. As he had told Mariela from the outset of using the hat, there was a price to be paid. So far, the price was the loss of his magical power. His third eye would not even open. He was in human form. Scar watched on as the boys pondered using the collar to send him back.

“I don’t think it can. The only ones that have even a slim chance have to have magical power in this place.” Scar stared at them both as he loosened his scarf further. The horrible truth was he didn’t think he was ever going to see Mariela again.

“If you think you can break it off me…..you are welcome to try.”

The Orago District – BC.

The Orago District is where the working class residents live. They are neither rich nor poor, but can afford good enough housing. This district has a commune feel to it, with lights hanging across the streets to provide light at night. For this reason, Orago can seem like a safe place. There are a few shops and cafes here so residents do not always have to rely on travelling to the Inner City or worse, Kayl. Residents will usually work in the Inner City or the Port, but some might work in Kayl.

After Ava had knocked Selina out and then placed a magic sleeping spell on her, Joel and the young student take Selina and the talking demon plushie Tallulah back to his home in the Orago District.

Joel’s House

Thankfully, the bus ride went smoothly from the inner city towards Orago district – where Joel lived. To those that sat near them on the bus, Ava and Joel spoke as though the girl that slept in his arm needed medical attention, and subsequently the other passengers gave them space, thinking that she was contagious. Amazing how people thought when you gave them subtle hints. It was enough to make Joel feel a bit more relieved, but he still had an unconscious High Priestess on his lap and she could wake at any given moment. Passing through the valleys and outer forests they finally came across the outer district of Orago. It was nothing like the city, and the many towering hills that were dotted with dwellings and shacks gave the tourist the impression that this was a workers town. That those that lived here commuted to the big city center and back daily.

Getting off the bus stop nearest to his home, it would be a five minute walk up some small trails till finally coming out at a double story building in amongst the trees. It was overgrown in parts, but in a way it had a certain charm about it. Almost like it was nestled in the middle of a garden that had long since been cared for. This was true in a sense, since it was Joel’s mother that had the green thumb. In the years since her death, the garden came into its own and grew in a way as though to protect the house that was in the middle.

Taking Selina up the stairs, he stopped at the door to take off his shoes, when the sliding door slid back to reveal a young woman who happened to be Joel’s sister. She was on her way out and stopped right before Joel with a look of bewilderment and confusion.

“Joel….what are you doing bringing home a child?” Stepping back only as Joel barged on through, the weight of the girl having grown heavy in his arms. “I can’t really explain, Beatrice. I need to place the girl down.” He headed into Beatrice’s small bedroom and placed the girl carefully on her bed. His sister didn’t like this at all.

“You can’t just bring a kid home and then dump her in my room without telling me what is going on.” Beatrice put her hands on her hips and frowned at her older brother. This was most out of character for him, and she wanted answers. Instead, Joel went to put on a kettle for a much needed cup of coffee.

“Go to work, Beatrice, you’ll be late.” He didn’t even look back at her to see if she had gone. Beatrice shook her fist at her brother then snatched up her bag, before seeing Ava on the porch. “When I get back, I want answers.” She shot Ava a strange look, then took off down the stairs to catch the bus to the inner city, just where Joel had come from.

Now that he was alone with just Ava and the sleeping Selina in his sister’s room, Joel took out a cigarette finally and lit it. Taking that first drag helped him relax after the very trying day.

“So, time to interrogate the plushie.” Joel said, hoping that Ava would set the bag down and let the strange toy creature out.

The excuse worked perfectly well. Not only were they able to leave the Council Headquarters quickly, the lady from before hadn’t noticed anything odd about the room. Even on the bus, whilst some did look at them, they kept their distance and did their best to make eye contact; it was as if they were a disease people noticed, but didn’t want.

As the bus made its way to the Orago District, it quickly became apparent everything was new to Ava; never before had she been in Orago. The Vestro District purposely kept itself secluded from the lower classes. For that reason, many generations knew little about the life others, who weren’t as fortunate as them, held. Her finger lingered on the glass and her attention was being pulled in all directions with the scenery. Even when they departed from the bus, Ava would often slow down to observe something, then quickly run to catch up with Joel and Selina.

After a few minutes, she finally rested her eyes upon Joel’s house. Was this truly where he lived? If Joel ever did look to her, she’d do her best to mask her surprise. It was only after seeing such things, which made Ava realise that not everyone was as fortunate as her. However, the obvious-caste-system was the least of their problems.

Following close behind, Ava found herself meeting Joel’s sister. It was odd meeting someone related to a teacher; when she was younger, she always thought teachers lived in the school and had no family. She took her shoes off and would have greeted his sister, but there seemed to be no point. It’s not like greeting her would stop her questions. Thankfully, Beatrice didn’t ask any questions what Joel was doing with a 16 year old; after his sister left, Ava began to explore her bedroom. It wasn’t as though she could do much exploring; nonetheless she took interest into the smallest of details, until they came back to the topic.

Ava placed her bag onto the floor and said, “It’s fine to come out,” to Tallulah. The toy had been brief with its answers to their previous questions, but they had to know more.

Temp:  Being stuck in some humans bag was not something she had expected to ever experience, and yet here she was. Selina had apparently remained asleep due to Ava’s spell, which was fortunate for the two humans. Honestly, she doubted that the awakened Selina would just randomly kill these two, but their fear was understandable. When they finally stopped and seemed to be at their destination she was quick to hop out of her ‘prison’. She then made her way next to Selina, and turned her head to look between the two humans. “Interrogate huh? What the hell else do you two want to know huh!?” Explaining everything to these two was rather irritating, but there wasn’t much of a choice other than to comply at the moment.

Razorbackwriter:  The toy plushie emerged from Ava’s bag and was in no mood to be asked questions or be interrogated by the pair. Which was equally as frustrating for Joel, since he had taken a very big risk in bringing the girls back to his house. For one, it would send tongues wagging for sure by his neighbors. The kettle in the kitchen was boiling, and Joel left Ava alone with the plushie as he went to fix them both a cup of tea. The house was very simply furnished. Nothing outrageous or fancy in this home. Everything was functional and practical. The furniture alone looked to be older than Joel himself, and it was.

Coming back into the living area, Joel set down the tea tray and of course offered a cup to Ava. It may be a welcome relief. Something that was considered normal, in a very unusual situation. Stirring his tea with a spoon, he finally set the cup down and got down to it.

“You say you are Selina’s guardian. If this is true, than you would understand that neither Ava or I mean her any harm. But if she is a danger, just what are we to expect? I mean, I have brought her into the safety of my home and that of my sister’s.”

Joel then looked at Ava. “I am sure that Ava never meant to be caught up in this either. It’s getting late, and I know she would be missed by her parents soon. We are both owed some sort of explanation. Surely you can understand that.”

it was then that Joel asked the most serious of questions.

“Why was she put to sleep? What did she do that had her condemned to be cursed for nearly six centuries?”

Gene:

With Tallulah out of the bag, and her obvious displeasure at having to be interrogated, Ava stepped back. Perhaps it would be best allowing Joel to take the lead – this was his home after all and it’d only be respectful for Ava to simply act like a guest. Joel’s departure resulted in silence in the room; Ava had no idea what to say to the toy.

“So…” She said, doing her best to eradicate the silence; talking to a toy was much more easier than talking to someone her age. Tallulah didn’t look the slightest bit intimidating, though that was probably a misjudgement on Ava’s part. If she was younger, she’d certainly want to cuddle the toy. However, Ava had to keep in mind Tallulah was Selina’s guardian. There was probably a good reason for that.

As Joel re-entered, Ava took a seat and accepted his offer of tea; she thanked him and took a sip. It did come as a relief to drink something soothing in this hectic day. Sitting down made her realise how tired she was. Her arms ached from carrying the bags, whilst her legs just wanted rest on the couch. She kept her composure for the time being.

The reasoning with Tallulah began and Ava avoided Joel’s gaze when he spoke about her. The ultimate question was asked. Was Selina truly so bad she was put to sleep? Or were the circumstances leading to her fate were different?

Temp:  Tallulah sighed and rubbed her ‘hands’ against her head, shaking it as she did so.“Look you two…she didn’t do nothin’ and she wasn’t condemned, okay?” Having to explain such ancient history was really annoying, “Her family and coven were killed because of the magic they practiced, and the only reason Selina survived is because she was sealed away. You two probably think she’s evil, but I’d say she’s just…eccentric…” She wasn’t considered evil back then, but she definitely did have her quirks. Experimenting sometimes brought out her sadistic side, but she wasn’t a heartless murderer. “She’s not gonna kill you guys if she wakes up alright? She might examine your bodies or something though..on the outside I mean, not internally!” Hopefully these humans would calm down on their little doomsday scenario.

The teacher knew that Ava was averting her gaze from him, but as to why he was unsure? He arched a brow as if to say ~What’s with you?~ But of course, the attention then swung back around to Tallulah who was now becoming short with the pair. Going as far to say that she didn’t do anything to warrant being cursed, and that in fact her family were slain simply for being witches and practicing magic. Now, that was not entirely unheard of. People killing those that they deemed to be witches. It totally married up with the time period as well. Superstition, religion and people’s own inability to accept what they did not understand caused much panic and resulted in the deaths of those that were accused of practicing.

Joel sat on the edge of an old and tattered armchair, his elbow resting on his knee and his upturned fist supporting his chin. He wasn’t dismissing anything that the plushie said, in fact it explained a great deal. Tallulah was trying to reassure them that Selina was not evil per say, but eccentric.

“Of course she isn’t evil. That is why you were so quick to tell us to knock her out in the Council HQ.” This of course was laced with sarcasm. Could you blame him for feeling this way?

Joel rolled his eyes and gave a little flick of the head. He simply couldn’t help acting out.

“She’s not gonna kill you guys if she wakes up alright?”

“Well that’s comforting to know.”

She might examine your bodies or something though..on the outside I mean, not internally!”

This had Joel’s eyes widen considerably. A girl witch wanting to examine his body. “I don’t think so.” Joel pushed his hands onto his knees and rose to standing suddenly. He was becoming exasperated now, and the cracks were starting to show. Joel, was tired. The only problem was he couldn’t go to sleep in his own house, knowing that Selina could wake up and then….carry out an examination on his sleeping form. So comforting.

Joel walked in a small circle, raking his fingers through his disheveled hair. What was he going to do now? Should he just call the authorities, and let them take her off his hands? He didn’t need this now. He had a job, one that he counted on to keep the roof over his and his sister’s head. God, his sister. What was she going to say when she got home? He could picture the argument already in his mind – hear her raised voice. Not to mention the neighbors would get an earful too.

The teacher shot a look at Ava, who like him was also starting to look worn out. His lips formed a slim line as he came up with the only solution he could think of.

“I’ll take first watch. Ava, you might want to call your parents, and maybe just camp out on the couch while I watch Sleeping beauty in there.” He jerked his thumb towards his sister’s bedroom.

The World inside Scar’s Hat – Part Two : SS.

The shocking realization was now hitting Scar as he found himself in what he thought was a world without magic.  The World inside his hat.

Scene setting – Inside Scar’s hat – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy.

Razorbackwriter:  Scar was spinning and then stopping in his tracks. Squinting his eyes tight together as though willfully trying to blink away the reality of what he faced. At a blink he can change forms. He could. In Hell. Here however, he would open his eyes to find that he was the same man, the same outfit. Everything stayed the same. Nothing worked. His magic….gone. Scar raised his hands up before him, as they quivered. His fingers as though clutching at some unseen being. Scar wanted to strangle the life out of Raul for what he had done. Sending him into his own hat. Sending him to a world without magic. The alp panted and looked up at the sky once more, only to just see a jet liner through the clouds – spiriting away to some unknown destinations. Flying…metal things! It was crazy. None of it made any sense to the creature. Hell might have been the last place you ever wanted to be, but that was where he belonged – not in this reality.

“Hey, dude.” A voice. Scar spun around to see two boys, though they were not children they were young men. One then asked the oddest question. One he would never expect to hear. “Why are you calling our sister’s name?” The young man had the bluest eyes. Radiant and matched in well with his colourings. The one beside him though, had green eyes. Like jade pools….with a frightening similarity to…Mariela’s. Both boys…had her features. They were younger of course, but…there was this eerie feeling that Scar was getting. “Why are you calling our sister’s name?”

What were the possibilities that the hat sent Scar to the one place that he knew Mariela would be safe from Lydia and Raul? The one place, she would call home. Scar’s eyes widened as the shocking truth was coming to fruition. There was no doubt in Scar’s love for her, that he would wish the hat to take her home. The only problem was, the hat….took him after Raul turned the game on it’s head.

https://i0.wp.com/static.tumblr.com/a7f2f41811fe0b13a8fd153bfaf4e0e8/scdebj1/rpnndw7r8/tumblr_static_66llb2d3ofswkw80sgcgwc0ks.gif

“I don’t belong here.” Scar uttered, backing away from the two young men. He raised a hand, pointing at each of them in turn. “She…never told me…she had siblings.” He shook his head, then he reached up and started pulling at his hair.“This can’t be happening. She’s in that maze with Raul….and a…human. What if Lydia……..Oh fuck no.” Scar started walking around in a circle, then saw a tree. Marching over to it, he gripped it around the trunk and started to beat his head against it.

~RB~

Dessy:  This guy looked like he was having a mental breakdown… or something. The boys didn’t know what was wrong with him. They didn’t move or take any steps further – for all they knew, this man could be some crazy who would attack them the minute they took a step toward him. Instead, they stayed in their position where they were, watching him and exchanging glances every now and then.

“I don’t belong here.”

He spoke, and Sean looked at his brother. “What do you mean “you don’t belong here”? Who are you?” Sean asked, deciding to take the risk and took one step further. What if he was one of the people after his family? The people who burned their house and killed their sister? What if they found out the rest of the family escaped? Their mother always feared that the people would find out and hunt for them. That they’d find out where they had ran off to and try to finish them off. What if this man was sent here to see if it was really them?

Then again, after Mariela’s death their mother had became really paranoid. After going through a depression state, she became over-protective and paranoid. Their father had to not only pull her out of that depression, but also convince her that everything would be fine and there was no reason for her to freak out. She had to be pulled out of a paranoia. It took a few years for her to finally be her normal self. Even now, mentioning Mariela’s name always ended up with their mother in tears again. This man pointed to each one of them, then stating that he never knew she had siblings.

The boys exchanged glances. Maybe he really did know their sister. But they had to be sure. “Are you sure we’re taking about the same girl here?” Sam spoke up next. “You have to be talking about a different person. If you knew our sister, we would’ve recognized you.”

“Who the hell is Raul? And Lydia?” Sean asked in confusion. “What are you talking about?” What was wrong with this guy? The brothers were just getting more and more confused as he rambled on about a maze. Then he walked in a circle. Then, he started beating his head against a tree.

“Woah! Hey! Calm down!” Sean spoke, taking a step back at this sight. Sam stayed in his spot, unsure if he should help hm or not. Was this guy crazy?

Razorbackwriter:  “Woah! Hey! Calm down!” Blurbs of questions were being asked as the Alp continued to smack his forehead against the tree trunk. Each time he hit the tree trunk, his eyes rolled about comically in his head. At last he staggered back, with a great red welt right in the center of his forehead. “Pain….such a rush.” If the boys thought that Scar was indeed crazy, it was because he was certainly acting like it. Now you’d think the boys would just wipe their hands of him and go back to their game of football. Leave the sad mad chap to his own devices, but they really wanted to know if it was their sister that Scar was crying out for.

“You have to be talking about a different person. If you knew our sister, we would’ve recognized you.” This might be true in their world, but Mariela was from a place after her death. A place that the brothers would not have even contemplated her being in. Scar finally stopped moving, though he was panting hard. In between taking in deep breaths, he tried to answer them, to the best of his ability. “My…Mariela…is trapped in a maze in Hell. She’s there, and I’m here.” He pointed to the ground and then slapped both his arms to his side, as though he felt totally lost.“A warlock….used my hat, to send me here as punishment.” He looked up at both boys, and then said something that may help them figure out what was really going on.

“She’s the most powerful witch I’ve ever met, but she doesn’t know her own strength. That is why Princess Lydia was going to use her for another war. To topple the Princess of Wrath. Then….I STUPIDLY…led her into the maze…thinking, she’d be safer there.” Scar was now feeling the stinging sensation of guilt. “This is all my fault.” His voice breaking into quiet sobs.

The Alp collapsed on the ground. Sitting in a crumpled heap. A sad laugh coming from his lips as he tried to wipe away a tear. “I kept telling her. Use my hat. She’s supposed to be here….not me.” Scar bowed his head, ashamed of himself. “I was trying to save her. Now I’ve signed her death warrant, and there is no way, I can go back. Not without my hat. There is no magic here.”

A ticking time bomb – BC.

When magic is happening right out in the open, it would be very hard to explain.  Knocking out Selina in order to keep her true self repressed posed even more problems for Ava and the young Teacher; Joel.

Scene setting :  The Council HQ, Blood City Series.

This is co-written with Gene and Temp.

Insane. That was the best word to describe what was happening in the reading room. We know and accept what happens in our world, because, logic. Logic and what we are taught from a young age as to what is real and what is fantasy. But what if everything you had ever believed could be turned on it’s head in a single moment. That being when a plush toy comes to life and starts screaming at you. Not just to do the unthinkable – knocking out a child, but also telling you off for picking it up. Joel, dropped Tallulah on the table, right at the same time that all the papers and documents that had been in the box blew up and danced about the room as though there was a freak wind storm. It was enough not only to block Joel from seeing Ava perform a spell on Selina to put her to sleep, but it also stopped passersby in the corridor to seeing what was going on within. Papers danced and whizzed past Joel at an alarming speed. It was like being in a wind tunnel and he madly tried to catch them out of the air. If any of them ripped or tore, he was going to be up for more then the initial fee that the paid in the beginning.

Only when the papers started to settle, and Joel was trying to put them in a pile, did the plushie talk again.

“Woah man, that was CLOSE! Good job human.”

Course, the plushie was speaking to Selina. Joel had no inkling that there was not just one witch in that room, but two. Rising to stand and putting the papers back into the box, the young teacher realized that he was in way over his head this time. He wanted to have a cigarette so badly, just to calm his nerves which were frayed. It was one thing to deal with an abusive talking plushie, but now they had an unconscious girl, who could be a real danger to them – not that he even could begin to understand why. One thing he did know though, they couldn’t stay in here.

“Okay….so the name Steiness is bad for some reason.” He couldn’t believe he was going to even attempt to talk to the abusive plushie, but he had to know. “Why?” You don’t just knock a girl out for no reason.

With a spell being a success, Ava now held Selina in her arms. She quietly shuffled, doing her best to move Selina onto the chair. Now, since Selina was only sleeping, Ava knew if they continued talking loudly, she might wake. After ensuring Selina wouldn’t fall off of the chair, she looked to Joel and the toy and placed a finger on her lips, indicating they should be quiet.
Ava moved away from Selina, picking up the papers as quickly as she could and organising them into a pile. Her speed yet carefulness to not make a sound made it clear she wanted to move away from Selina. After seeing that display, it no longer surprised Ava that Selina was once a High Priestess. Even a human could have recognised the danger and power displayed in that one action. Her own magic tingled from sensing the immense power in Selina. But, now she could no longer sense it. There was definitely more to the girl than papers could reveal. Out of the corner of her eyes, Ava eyed the toy. It knew something important. Even though she had initially ignored the instructions of the toy – due to being bewildered – it knew what to do. It knew what was happening to Selina.

Finally cleaning up her own mess, Ava gestured for Joel to follow her. She would have proceeded to pick up the toy – or whatever it was – however, the way it reacted to Joel picking it up gave a clear impression. Instead, she settled with also waving her hand to the toy. Ava moved to the far corner of the room and waited for Joel and Selina’s toy to come.

“You know something,” She whispered, looking at the toy, “Who is she?” Despite their current situation, Ava’s voice was surprisingly calm, even though inside she was afraid. As of now, Ava didn’t care what had set Selina off.

Temp:  Selina was completely knocked out, and wouldn’t be causing trouble any time soon. Tallulah on the other hand was still very much awake, and she wasn’t very happy. Joel had picked her up which pissed her off, and then Ava seemed like she was going to attempt the same thing. Fortunately she decided against it and instead motioned for her to follow her and Joel. Obviously she didn’t want to wake Selina up. The Grimoire hopped off of the table and over to the two humans, looking up at them with an unmoving face. So they wanted to know more about Selina? At this point sharing information probably wouldn’t matter, so there was no need to ignore them. “Selina Shamandalie, High Priestess of The Black Halo. What else is there…She isn’t a child? Her real form is being suppressed?” What more was there to say about Selina that would make them understand who she was? Probably nothing. It’d be best to show them, but at the same time would be a bad move.

Razorbackwriter:

https://i0.wp.com/i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu37/chiriin/Anime/Durarara/1252Shizuo-chiriin.jpg

Everything about this situation was now so fucked up, that Joel was beginning to regret ever having been a gentleman towards the young Selina in the first place. They were in the worst possible place to have just discovered that not only was Selina a High Priestess of the Black Halo, but she was not a real child. Her real form was being suppressed. Why would she be suppressed and kept asleep for five or so centuries. Probably because she was the be all and end all of dark magic. Joel was no idiot. He knew that the fact a talking cursed cat plushie was now opening up that her Mistress was someone of great importance and a danger not only to those around her but also herself. The flashing of her eyes, was the start of the troubles, so….if she had started to remember, as the teacher was trying to get his head around this, that not only were they in trouble, but those that worked and visited the Council HQ.

Joel slapped his hand to his forehead. Of all the places they had brought her too. Now, they had to get her out of there….and fast. Also, they had to keep her unconscious, for fear of what she could do if she woke up. The young teacher knew that there was no way that Ava was going to take the girl home, knowing what she was. Her parents were very important people in the city, and the last thing they needed was the High Priestess of the Black halo under their roof. Joel was also thinking that he couldn’t possibly take her home with him. What would his sister say?

He honestly didn’t know what to do. Or who to turn too.

Joel scratched his hair line and looked at Ava with a worried expression.

“Any ideas on where we can take her?”

The concise explanation the toy presented only left Ava with more questions. She began to say something, but stopped, instead choosing to rub her head. The silence that occurred after gave her some time to think about how to construct her questions.

“Any ideas on where we can take her?”

Ava looked up to Joel. That was a good question. Unfortunately, it was one she couldn’t answer. Where could Selina go? She’d need to be watched. By who? The two couldn’t do it; despite her appearance, Selina was dangerous, that much was clear. It was only by fluke that Ava had managed to stop her ‘real’ self from coming out.
Her face waned as a possible solution came to her mind.

“Should we-“ Ava hesitated. Even possessing the thought sent shivers down her spine, “If she poses a threat… Shouldn’t we,” Ava began to shake and her voice wavered, “Kill her?” After voicing her suggestion, she shook her head, “No, no, we can’t,” Though, her eyes flickered to Joel.

Tallulah would have obviously been against the idea. Joel, on the other hand, might not; even though Ava had backtracked on what she said, a part of her wanted Joel to agree with her and fuel the suggestion.

“What is her real form capable of?” Ava decided to ask Tallulah; maybe – just maybe – her real form wouldn’t be as bad as they thought. “Why would her real form pose a threat to us and the city? If it would, at all?”

Temp:  Tallulah would have had a very angry look on her face due to Ava’s suggestion, but she was not capable of that in this form. “I suggest you never say or consider that again, human.” Selina was her mistress, and as such she was bound to protect her. The fact this girl had the nerve to suggest such a thing in front of her was outrageous. At the mention of Selina being a threat to them she sighed. It wasn’t very easy to explain why Selina was a threat. “Selina was brought into this world with blood and dark magic rituals…so her mind is a bit…twisted…and her magic is unlike anything you’ve likely ever seen.” She was definitely dangerous, but whether or not she went about killing or blowing things up was uncertain. It was hard to figure out what Selina was thinking in her true form.

Razorbackwriter:  Joel could hardly believe his ears when Ava started to suggest that they kill the High priestess, rather than do any more to help her. Was she insane? Murder carried a life jail sentence, and Joel rather liked his life….on the outside of a prison cell. He hadn’t even been caught speeding, or had a traffic ticket. Breaking the law just was not in his books, no matter how dangerous a person or individual could be. Truth was, they really didn’t know what she was capable of, though Ava may have a better idea considering what and who she was – not that Joel was clued in to her true self. The Teacher just stood there, slack jawed. That was until the cat plushie demon thing put forth that they were never to say of consider that course of action. Joel held his hands up as though he was not taking part in that sort of plan.
“Don’t look at me, I can’t even kill a spider, let alone another being.” It was true, he simply didn’t have what it took to kill someone. So that was definitely out.

“Selina was brought into this world with blood and dark magic rituals…so her mind is a bit…twisted…and her magic is unlike anything you’ve likely ever seen.”

“I have yet to see anything magical in this day and age, aside….from well you…talking.” This was pointed out to Tallulah, as Joel didn’t have anything to compare with what Selina may or may not be capable of. Glancing down at Selina’s unconscious form, Joel knew that she would be too heavy for Ava to carry, and that it would be up to Joel to do the honors. He could hardly believe what he was now going to have to do.

“I’m going to have to take her home. I don’t know of anywhere else.” He looked exasperated and in need of a cigarette, but again he couldn’t exactly light up in the reading room of the Council HQ. Putting on his satchel across he body and swinging it to his back, he went to pick up the sleeping Selina in a fireman’s lift and then motioned for Ava to get the door.“You get the fluff ball, and we just leave the documents here for the officials.” They couldn’t take those with them, as they were government property. “There is a bus stop not far, we should head out there now, and I take her and Tallulah home with me.”

If Ava wanted an out, this was it. She probably had gotten more than she bargained for in the first place from the time she entered the Peach Cafe. Going home with a teacher probably wouldn’t look good.

As expected, the two didn’t respond well to her first suggestion; it might have been better in the long run to eradicate any possible threats by eliminating the source of them in the first place. It was a utilitarianism approach and maybe the whole City would have benefitted from their actions, however it didn’t deter from the fact it’d scar the morality of Ava and probably Joel.

As Tallulah responded to her question, it crossed out any possibility that they could reason with Selina’s true form.
“She’s evil,” Ava whispered to herself and then muttered, “Great…” When Joel commented about Tallulah’s ability to talk, Ava piped in, “How are you able to talk? And move?” As soon as Ava posed the question, she dismissed it, “Never mind,” It was clear they had to leave. Now.

Thankfully, Joel had volunteered to have Selina stay with him; it was likely Joel would be the one who had to do so. Ava couldn’t return home with an unconscious girl – what would her parents say? Her only concern, for Joel, was that Selina’s real form wouldn’t awaken in his house. With Joel’s instruction, Ava leaned towards Tallulah then recoiled, not wanting her to act badly.

“Do you want to go in one of my bags?” She suggested, gesturing over to them by the table. The thought hadn’t crossed Ava’s mind that she could back out. Her concerns regarding Selina clouded any thoughts – if there were any – of letting Joel handle Selina and going home; she was a part of the problem too. Perhaps, it was because she too was a Witch. Whilst Ava had never been in a coven – mostly due to her lack of knowledge if there were any other Witches – she still felt duty bound ensure Selina wouldn’t do anything bad. What chance did humans stand against a Witch like Selina, whom was supposedly powerful?

“We should say we are talking her to the hospital,” Ava advised; people would notice a man holding an unconscious girl more than a girl wearing the sort of attire Selina did.
If Tallulah jumped one of her bags, or allowed Ava to hold her, Ava would be following Joel, heading to his house.

Temp:  Tallulah watched Joel as he picked Selina up and eyed him to make sure he didn’t try anything. She’d been with her mistress for centuries now, so it should be obvious that they shared a bond of sorts. The real form of Selina loved her just like this fake did, but the two were different in every other way. It was obvious to her that these humans considered Selina to be some kind of ticking time bomb, and they weren’t really in the wrong. This was a matter that wasn’t going to be handled as easily as killing one person though, that much was certain. For now she would follow the humans, as they had her mistress, and jumped into the bag that Ava mentioned. She had no idea what was the best thing to do with Selina at the moment, but she needed to keep her safe.

The Maze of Greed – Part Seven : SS.

In order to help the human called Bandit, a curse would need to be broken.  Mariela has the strength to do it, but at what price?

Scene setting : The Maze of Greed – Seven Sins series.

Co-written with Dessy and Artie.

Dessy:  “My bad. Lydia is the cause of everything.” Mariela mumbled under her breath. She looked down at Bandit again, nodding her head in agreement. “Hm. I think “manipulative” fits him well.” she said, but looked up at Scar when she asked the questions. She kept silent, watching Scar as she let him answer the question about why they couldn’t use the hat. She still didn’t say anything, instead just frowning at Scar’s words. “You would think that every maze would have an exit. But, being how Lydia is pure evil, it wouldn’t surprise me if she didn’t make an exit.” she said, but gave the girl a small smile. “But don’t worry. We’ll find a way out of this maze.” she spoke determinedly.

Her gaze turned to Scar when he spoke about there being an exit. She raised an eyebrow, before pushing herself to stand up. “And that exit is…?” she started, narrowing her eyes as an eerie smile played on his lips. Then, he spoke again.

“You’d have to defeat Lydia.”

Mariela flinched at those words. “Should’ve seen that coming…” she gave a nervous laughter. Sure, she was a bit pissed at Lydia, but Mariela honestly doubted that she’d be strong enough to defeat Lydia. Lydia was clever, and evil. Powerful, even. Mariela was not. “Of course. In order to get out of this Danger Zone, we have to destroy whatever created it.” she spoke. “Which is Lydia.” she said. “Yeah, uh, is there another way out?” she spoke. “I mean, I wanna get out of this place, and I’m not the happiest with Lydia right now, but…” she trailed off. “Fighting Lydia? The Queen of all evil? I doubt there’sany chance in defeating her.” she spoke, now biting the corner of her mouth. She should have expected that defeating Lydia would stop this mess. She looked down towards Bandit again, continuing to bit her lip. She seemed to do that when she was nervous or scared. Bandit still needed help… but they had to get out of the maze.

Artie:  “Lydia.. Lydia..” Bandit searched for the name to put to a face, but could find nothing. She hadn’t yet heard of the new management in Greed, and to be frank, she didn’t care much for any of the royals. “I’d help, but if she’s some ‘Queen of Evil,’ I don’t think even at full strength I’d be able to help you much. I mean, I can’t help at all, now. I can’t feel my legs.” Bandit seemed bitter at her lack of abilities in general. It figured that she was the most under-powered in this realm, and without legs, she was an ant to others. Though she couldn’t feel her legs, the slight dampness that continued to creep showed they were still bleeding. Maybe not gushing, but the wounds had yet to fully close. Her breathing had remained hard and rough as she remained calm, keeping herself from screaming. This, at least, showed her stubbornness and willpower. If she’d had some sort of powers, she’d be a worthy adversary, indeed.

Her eyes stared into Scar’s without break, matching his own seriousness. This only furthered her show of will. “I’m assuming that this is the only way, aside from that hat, because life has to always be difficult, doesn’t it? Things can’t just be simple in Hell?” Bandit perked a brow, slight sarcasm and more bitter feelings creeping into her tone. It was more how ridiculous this all felt – what, was she in some sort of novel or something? Of course there had to be an ultimatum, and neither choice favorable.. Though, she barely knew Scar, and she was one for her own survival. Bandit wouldn’t have hesitated to take the hat, as she felt nothing to Scar… nor Mariela.

Razorbackwriter:  The smell of blood was wafting up from the ground where Bandit lay. Mariela’s attempt to heal the girl fell short of actually closing her wounds. Not to mention that the girl was now paralyzed from the waist down. If she couldn’t move off the ground, then what chance did she have to escape the maze. Scar’s smile remained fixed as he tilted his head downward and looked at that jeweled collar once more. The girl claimed that it caused hallucinations, but at the moment, the girl was speaking perfectly normal and not showing a touch of madness. Maybe the charm had worn off, or the Master of the collar was pre-occupied. Perhaps he was up in the castle Greed right now, banging Lydia. Who was to say? It was no secret that she took lovers now and again. Scar though, wasn’t her cup of tea. But back to the girl on the ground. She was showing her sarcastic edge, when lamenting that the only way out, aside from the hat would be difficult.

“Life wasn’t meant to be a picnic, girly.” The Alp was already feeling that standing around in this part of the maze was using up valuable time. Scar reached up and straightened the hat on his head to a more fitted position. Rounding on Mariela, he went to take her hands, and then whispered.

“Try to remove the collar. Focus…on the jewels. It was made by a Warlock, and I think you are strong enough to break it.” Scar stared at Mariela without looking down at the girl again.

“Free her from the link with Raul. It may be her only chance out of here. After that, she’s on her own.”

Dessy:  Mariela turned her head to look at Bandit and gave an apologetic smile. “Once again, I’m sorry for that…” she apologized for Bandit’s lack of feeling in her legs. “And Lydia is a powerful individual. I, myself, probably couldn’t beat her.” she said. Mariela couldn’t help but laugh at Bandit’s next words. “I’ll be the first to tell you that Hell is far from simple.” she said, before turning to look at Scar when he spoke. She simply nodded her head in agreement, before Scar walked towards her and took her hands in his. He then told her to try removing the collar. “What makes you so sure I’m strong enough to break it, Scar? What if I can’t?”

Oh Mariela, self-doubting herself and her strength. The girl was much stronger than she thought or claimed she was – and it was obvious Scar could see that while she couldn’t. Lydia clearly had saw it, as well. But Mariela didn’t believe it. “I’ll try…” she said, removing her hands from Scar’s grasp and walking towards Bandit. She sat on her knees to the girl’s right, narrowing her eyes and looking down at the collar. “I’m gonna try to get this off… Don’t move…” she said. She took her hand and ran it over the jewels on the collar, staring at them. Scar told her to focus on the jewels. That meant it was something with the jewels that could break the collar off.

Artie:  The blonde would furrow her brows as Mariela moved closer, placing her hand on the collar and the jewels inscribed within it. Almost instantly, Bandit had winced away from her hand, further opening the door for Mariela to see her hard background… but at the moment, more things were important. Bandit bit her bottom lip, waiting, pondering… Her eyes closed as Mariela thought and pondered, an almost impatient feeling spreading through Bandit if she had not been so anxious herself. And then… A crack, the collar beginning to break itself open — air. Cold air pressed against her neck where it’d once been covered by the collar, a laugh of relief coming from Bandit’s lips as excitement filled her despite her disabled form. “Hey… Hey! You.. You did it! Shit! That’s awesome!” Her hands would move as she gripped the collar, tossing it away and then raising her hands to rub her neck, feeling at the skin that could now breathe..
